The Carousel is in a good location, with great views, in walkable Ocean City. You can see, and can walk right on to OC's beautiful beach. The boardwalk is beyond walking distance, so you will have to drive and pay to park there, or buy a bus pass. Still, there are other attractions in the immediate area. We stayed in Condo 602, at a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo on the 6th floor of the Carousel. The living room and master bedroom have fantastic ocean views. The master has a king bed, the second two queen beds, and the third 2 singles, so it sleeps 6 comfortably and children can share the beds in the second bedroom. The beds in this particular condo were firm and comfortable. The condo is great for families, extended families, three couples, and groups of friends, but not cost efficient for just one couple. For groups of at least four, the number this condo accommodates makes it as cost efficient as you can get in the current market. We were three couples who are friends. The couple who took the master bedroom paid more of the bill than the other two. You can also walk to a Food Lion supermarket right across the street, and to a range of restaurants. The kitchen is well equipped. You can cook from scratch, store food, and supplement a takeout order, thus making dining over a week-long vacation convenient and cost efficient. The common area is enough room for a group of people to hang out in. There is an open plan with kitchen, dining area and living room, plus a furnished balcony that runs the length of the entire condo (living room and master bedroom). You can access the balcony from both rooms. The east-facing windows are floor to ceiling, comprising the entire eastern exposure. This adds to the ambiance and provides a great ocean view. You can sit at a picnic table on the bay-side deck. You can watch the sun set in the west if you get tired of looking at the ocean in the east. There are negative reviews that note that the Carousel is older and noisy, but most of the these relate to the hotel rooms rather than the condos. I read that the lower hotel portion is noisy with various activities going on, but the 6th floor is above all that. Still, there are some caveats: The hotel is boisterous and seems geared for families with children, but not for romantic get-aways. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms lack views, unlike the master, which has an ocean view. The internet is slow. During busy times, the elevators get busy. We occasionally walked down 5 flights. The boardwalk is beyond walking distance, so you will have to drive or buy a bus pass. Still, the Carousel is a good base of operations for a beach vacation. The 3-bedroom condo on the 6th floor at the Carousel was convenient, comfortable and as cost efficient as you can get in the current market. Location, location, location! That was by far the best part of staying at the Carousel. If you don't want to get in your car all week, you don't have to. The beach, restaurants, shops, and everything you need are right there. We stayed in a beachfront condo on the 15th floor. The view was absolutely incredible and made waking up every morning worth it. The only downside was that there are only two elevators for the condos, so there could be a wait during busy times. Was there some sand on the carpet? Yes-but you're staying at the beach, so that's to be expected. The hotel is definitely showing its age, but it was clean enough for us, and every employee we interacted with was friendly, kind, and accommodating. We also appreciated that towels were available at both the indoor and outdoor pools, and having the indoor ice skating rink was a fun bonus, especially for families. If you're looking for a luxury, newly renovated resort, this probably isn't it. Also it's a drive to the boardwalk. But if you want an affordable beachfront stay in a fantastic location with great views and friendly staff, the Carousel is absolutely worth considering. We'd stay again. read more

Where to start... maybe with the one positive from our three night stay - the front desk staff were lovely. The bad? Everything else. The room - Moldy musty rooms with blocked drains. Mattresses that were thin and stained. One very thin comforter and flat old pillows. Heat barely working. Door kept getting stuck. Someone's hair in the tub and on the bathroom walls. The dining - A very sticky restaurant with an expensive and barely cooked limited buffet for breakfast. Dinner options were passable bar food. The atrium - great for kids but it's essentially a giant chuck-e-cheese experience with quiet hours not starting until 11pm so screaming yelling running sugar loaded kids with no supervision playing arcade games and ice hockey was status quo. The indoor pool - unheated even in winter, and a lovely swamp color. Fun bonus - some sort of malfunction with the fire system had water pouring down the elevator shaft and all over the atrium for half an hour with alarms blaring one evening. Added to that lovely musty atmosphere. All in all I would highly advise this as a pass. read more

For the past 5 years, my family of 3 have stayed at Carousel hotel once or twice a year, for 4-7 days each visit. But this was the last time. For $450+/ night, i actually expect the room to be serviced everyday, with fresh towels, beds made, and walk into a room that smells good, this past visit, from July 30 - Aug 2, the room was serviced one time. The bartender did not seem to speak enough English to understand a question about the special on Saturday evening (how convenient). The last straw was that there was no hot water for a shower on Sunday night or Monday morning. And just so this was not a completely one side negative review, the waitress we had on Friday and Saturday ( i asked for her section specifically on Saturday) was awesome. She was working the summer, before going back to school, and i hope she follows through with her dreams. Next, we will stay as The Princess Hotel a few blocks south. read more

Another quests said this is 4th day... one family of 6 was given 3 bath towels, requested 6 more and was finally given 3 after waiting hours. booked a condo in January. for June. dozens of emails and text, verifying I was of age. turns out 3/4 of the place was rented by teenagers for senior week. they happen to be very respectful with the exception of a few. 2 days before arriving I was told we'll need to pay a 50 dollar parking fee at their building. the pool closed everyday at 6. bar closed at 9. the reef restaurant was never opened. inside bar never opened. drinks were weak and 15 bucks. bistro had terrible heat lamp food. make sure to bring toilet paper cause the shop has everything you need but toilet paper. the private management vasca who we compl to laughed. if your room is next to the elevator. you will here it rumbling all night long. was very disappointed. Let me start by saying I've stayed here many summers as a child and we come here yearly for a hockey tournament. This place seems to dramatically keep going down hill. The service is rude and not helpful. The place is severely outdated and not too clean. This last visit we had no hot water the first night and the front desk acted like this was completely normal. After being given no timeframe of when we'd have hot water again, we just went to bed hoping for the best in the morning. We tried eating at the hotel restaurant. The service was rude, slow and inefficient. My daughter and I had diet cokes that tasted really bad and when I politely told the waitress she snapped back with "what do you want me to do about that? They all come out of a fountain?!" I feel like their lines had to be dirty and moldy to be tasting that bad! I was so taken back at how rude her response was. And I NEVER send food back... but I refuse to spend $3 per soda that tasted like we'd be sick later that night. Overall I have to say I do not endorse staying here. I traded my timeshare from Interval International to stay at the Carousel Oceanfront Hotel & Condos. The first room we were in had no working heat and the age of the room was showing. We were moved to a second room where the heat did work. The room was not cleaned thoroughly before we were moved to the room. The hotel send housekeeping to re-clean the bathroom, however, it did not look much cleaner when they left. The light switches looked like they had not been wiped off in a while. The staff was exceptional, professional and welcoming. Unfortunately, they could not address the poor condition of the rooms. read more

Room 2008 for one is a condo and rented out filthy. The a/c didn't work properly and smelled like burning rubber. The front desk and condo concierge were zero help. Rooms were not clean and dirt could be seen on every surface. Nothing in the unit worked regarding electricity, lights and coffee maker. Been going there 25 years. Time to find a new place. This hotel has been my family's traditional hotel for the past few years. Upon arrival check in is usually the same. We are greeted by a desk clerk giving us papers to sign, tag for our vehicle, payment is made and keys to our room. On our last visit when checking in, we noticed one elevator was not working causing a huge line for guests to wait on. Within hours the elevator was fixed, and all were up and running. One of the main reasons we come, is for the ice-skating show held here. Unfortunately, this year they had no ice-skating show. When questioned why, we were informed that the performers were contracted with Disney. So glad we got to experience many years of watching them perform. Every day, the hotel has different events and activities, such as painting shells, swimming, with mermaids, live music, family photos, movies on the beach etc. The outside pool is not as big as expected. The inside pool is very big and has a Jacuzzi. There are two arcade rooms. One of the rooms was not that great as most of the games stated unavailable when trying to play. The bistro menu was not up-to-date. Was told they did not have a machine to heat large pizza so we had to get the 10" pizza. The pizza wings, pretzel and soda totaled about $30 and kids enjoyed it. At the beach bar we had giant beef nachos, chicken, tenders, burger, and fries. That was more than enough food for a party of five. When heading to the beach, they have a section where you can borrow their beach chairs. The rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis. I thought this was due to Covid, but they continue to follow this system of cleaning once your stay is over. And the one time we were not in our room early morning, they did come in to take towels located on the floor and left new towels. If you need additional towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, etc. I recommend going to the front desk and they will quickly provide it for you. At times the cleaning crew would knock on our door and ask us to hand them the dirty towels and bags, in exchange for new ones. Not sure why this policy is still in place but daily cleaning would make our stays a lot better and rooms much cleaner, especially for families who enjoy doing the beach on a daily basis. By the second day our room was beyond sandy. In all, this hotel reminds me of an upscale motel. It is an absolute family oriented location. With a few touches here and there this place has extreme potential. read more

I booked this place via my Chase SapPhire travel site and I was a bit underwhelmed. I can't compare it to other hotels in the are because it was my first time in OC. The hotel was just OK. It was spring break and it was windy and cold. I'm sure it's better in the summer because they are situated on the beach. Close to the beach-just steps to the beach actually. They have a cute playing area for kids outside, three pools outside, bar and eatery on the beach and it was clean. Keep in mind that this area is very far from the boardwalk. Boardwalk is from about 0- 28th st and Carousel is located on 118th. It was cool to be able to walk to a park nearby and eateries, but driving is a must to reach the boardwalk. The inside was OK. Indoor pool was large and OK. Kids in the area seem to love the ice skating rink which I feel is a great touch all year long. Very affordable also. The tiny arcade left much to be desired but it's something at least. read more

We went for the music festival so I understand that everyone is looking for a room and prices are higher. However, the price we paid for our stay was ridiculous considering how low quality the hotel and staff are. The room itself was sad and cheap looking. The bar for the balcony was broken risking a lock out, the couch had some gross and questionable stains on it, and it wasn't until we complained that my friend's hair dye was on the sheets and pillows still on night 3 that they started changing the bed. The worst situation was when we arrived back around 11pm to find that the door to our room was never actually closed by housekeeping. We immediately went to the front desk who called security. The security guard ran the lock and confirmed that housekeeping had left our door open for over 9 hours. His response was "she must have forgot" and then he let us know his relief had arrived. Very disheartening that the "security" guard was more concerned with going home than our actual safety. I understand that people are human and make mistakes but our travel documents and personal items were in the room and someone could've stolen them. We also are two women travelling alone who came back to a room that could've had anyone waiting inside. That is not a mistake the staff should be making. If you value your safety and cleanliness, do not go here. Spend your money at a better hotel. read more

This place was a disaster right from the start.we had a hard time registering ..we had it for Tues July9th through the following monday July15th..for docter reasons we needed to cancel Monday which was still 6 days,they would not let us,we had to pay for the monday but we still had to leave Sunday I had a Cardiac Heart Drs appt. When we asked for a manager this security guy came out "Mark" he was a real ass , he would not even discuss anything and almost caused a confrontation between myself and him. He was looking to fight, it got so bad my two grand daughters started crying so I had to let it go. But that's only the beginning....to take the bags to the room took 20 minutes we had to carry them , there were no carts, the rooms rug was dirty if you walked barefoot your feet got dirty, there was only a half roll of toilet paper inside , when we called to ask for some, it was useless we had to go down and get it. The beds were uncomfortable and the AC could not be adjusted it was warm all night. And we couldn't leave the screen door open because there was a having smell of pot outside. Next day we took the kids to the pool it was disgusting u couldn't see your feet at the bottom It was cloudy and dirty. The ground around the pool was beat up and dirty . In the front they repainted the full walkway so to go to the parking garage you had to walk in the street part, it eventually dried but when it rained the terrible paint job was so slick you still had to walk the street part, two people fell and they had to rope off again. The front side of the building had a busted pipe that they fixed it with duck tape looked like garbage. The Grandkids wanted to ice skate when we went to get the skates it was was disgusting the skates were soaked with sweat and water and smelt terrible I couldn't let the kids put them on. The tables in the room were dirty and full of dust and they stayed that way the whole 6 days we were there. The one morning when we were going to the Atrium for coffee there was a condom on the floor. One of the worst parts was the ants that popped up in the room. If we could have gotten our deposit back we would have left. And if you think your walking to the Ocean City Boardwalk from here ,no sir your no where near it. Worst vacation stay of my life! Dirty/Stain linens & mattress. Rooms were in poor condition. I went for Labor Day weekend. I traveled alone w my 2 small children. I chose this place because it appeared to have a lot of what kids need. In fact, our stay was so bad, I cut my trip a day short because I couldn't take one more day! See the ALL the pictures for yourself! Some staff members are rude, some don't speak English- very kind but unfortunately were not able to be helpful. Kids left unattended near the pool & playground area; ex: throwing footballs in the pool while other guest were inside ge pool. Where they could have hurt other children by their rough playing. Security spoke to the boys who were tossing the ball yet as soon as he left they were back at it. Kids playing by the boat playground, tossing things around almost hitting other kids. Hotel grounds are dirty! Dirty walls, hallways, floors, the ice skates stink!!, the ice rink - not kept very well. It's a total waste of $. There was a fire Monday morning where everyone needed to evacuate at around 8am. I wouldn't be surprised if it was kids who pulled the fire alarm. Someone knocked on our door after10pm- kids messing around at night. The first room had stain sheets on both mattresses, a hole under the bathroom vanity/sink, stain bathtub, leaky refrigerator, loose outlets! I was given a $50 discount for the night & transferred to an ocean front room where I was given 10% off on that which meant I paid an an additional $188. Yet, I felt it was better than the room I had the previous night. I was so wrong! The ocean front room also had stain sheets and worse old stain mattress!!! It appeared like a crime scene occurred in the beds! The cleaning staff are only given 1/2 hr to clean each room. An employee informed me that they have not seen a mattress being replaced in a room for more than 1+ yrs. After a lot of pressuring the manager finally gave in & agreed to not only changed the sheets but the mattress- a female witg long black hair told me I could go home; instead of helping to find a solution! Forgetting and not caring about the kids patiently waiting for their mom to finish talking! Wondering why they weren't able to go play instead! On a holiday weekend. Traveling alone w 2 small children who saw this opportunity as their vacation she was quick to tell me to go home!!! I have more pictures. The place is filthy!! Please avoid if you care about your health & your love one's health. This by far has been the worst hotel experience of my life!!!! I did not feel relaxed at all. First times, we are originally from Massachusetts and wanted to do something different for New Year's Eve we drove here because of amenities for the kids and we wanted to get away; check in was easy , very knowledgeable and helpful. Our bedroom Slide door to the balcony did not lock ( we didn't notify anyone) . Didn't stay here but came for the FREE ice show. If you choose to stand along the rink it's free but if you choose to sit at one of the tables by the rink, it's a $40 food or drink minimum per table. Let's see, where do I start? Not one employee smiled the entire 5 days I spent there. The main restaurant of the hotel is closed despite it being crazy busy, so they can't blame COVID for that. No daily housekeeping service, fine you can blame COVID for that one. The mattresses were the worst I have ever slept on. Leaking pipe from what appears to be the toilet. Chipped tiles, torn shower curtain liner, and broken shower faucet. Ice at the skating rink wasn't maintained during my 90 minutes or so on the ice (was melting on half the surface, it was really hot but no one even checked on it's condition). The ice looked great when they performed an ice show. Ocean city was pretty good, this hotel not so much. read more

We were SO disappointed in our experience at the Carousel. It has not been well maintained or even cleaned for that matter. There was peeling paint, chunks of wood missing from furniture, and holes in the towels. The walls are also paper thin and we could clearly hear our neighbors and those above us making noise all hours of the night. Additionally, we needed to do some work from the room during our stay. We called ahead to ensure that the WiFi would work in the room and were assured that we would not have any issues. The WiFi was terrible - even in common areas- cutting out repeatedly or just not connecting at all. They do have some amenities like a restaurant and bar on site, playground, and pool (which was also in desperate need of maintenance). There is an ice skating rink in the middle of the atrium with free nightly shows. Despite this, we will never stay with the carousel again. read more

This year the iced cream was very lacking, The staff clearly had no experience making nice big iced creams. Now iced cream is a big part of my family, we all love it. Im just saying i think the staff could have put more effort into making better cream for eating. As i said my name is Darron, i love iced cream, and i want/accept better iced cream from one of the best hotels in this area. My ten grand-kiddos are furious with the small portions and lopsided twists, we cant accept this infuriating quality of iced-cream. The five star raising is for the resort hotel being one of the best family hotels in Ocean City. This hotel has about every amenity you can think of. Ice skating rink, outdoor/indoor pools and hot tubs, A bounce house, ice skating shows, an arcade, store, indoor and outdoor concessions, a restaurant and vouchers for free chair rentals. For those couples who want to enjoy a quiet stay at the beach. This might not be the best place for you. The atrium can be quite loud. The outdoor pool, live music and outdoor bar can be quite loud as well. Even for young families, nap times can be an issue for toddlers and babies. The food at the outdoor bar was actually really good for outdoor bar food. The breakfast at the restaurant decent but nothing above and beyond. Be sure to explain that you are a guest at the hotel so you can get the free child's breakfast per a paying adult. Service was great at the hotel, ALL AROUND!!! If you need anything, call the front desk and their staff is very accommodating. We needed a quick clean, Directions and recommendations - we got answers and service quickly. read more
