Our first experience was in a parent and me class which met once a week. I felt welcomed by the teacher and the other parents. The children are introduced to circle time, snack time, turn taking etc. Parents are given an opportunity to socialize and talk with the teacher. It gave me a sense of community and allowed me to feel comfortable sharing concerns and parents an opportunity to learn from each other. It was a no brainer to have my son enrolled in the 3 year old class for the following year. My son is thriving in the class. I love that the class sizes are small, the teachers are certified and many have children who are alumni themselves. The directors are familiar with not only the children but the families. They help coordinate services and keep lines of communication open. I feel supported and know that my child is learning through play and hands on experiences. I love that this school is a cooperative as it gives a unique opportunity for parents and caregivers to be involved in the classroom. This has allowed me to observe my son in social settings and allows me to get to know the teachers and fellow classmates. I went on a job interview at this site approximately a year and a half ago. I am a Teacher and this…read moresite was a mess. They were panicked about starting with OCFS and regulations. Every room was cluttered and not particularly clean. I questioned differentiation between teachers and assistants, to which, I was told everyone is equal and there are no "leads". Believe me the rooms showed it. No, structure, different teachers doing different curriculum throughout the classroom. Kids didn't know who to listen to. Teachers (I use that word loosely) we're on their phone, no one really playing with the kids- interacting and playing with a child are two different things. Lunch was delivered on a cart and left outside of the door, getting cold with nothing covering the food. No one wore gloves. There were no peanut free rooms or table. The Classrooms had no windows. The school/daycare area was extremely small. Close together with a max of 4 classrooms, and a huge unused area that was supposed to be a gym. The play equipment outside was old, dirty and the fence gate was broke. The director didn't seem particularly concerned about it. The owner was super nice but the director was clueless and lazy.

Depsite the fact that we had a student that was sick earlier in the week. (Which was most likely a result of him drinking out of a dirty sippy cup). The preschool teacher also called out that 2nd day that I did...and that's why I was fired??? So you're understaffed, but you fire me because I wasn't feeling well??? Thankfully, I recorded myself cleaning the cups with week old food residue on them so if they try to lie, dassa dub. They're also VERY rough with the kids in the preschool class that I worked in. I've witnessed students being flipped off their cots to be waken up. I've even witnessed students getting "popped" by teachers out of frustration. Some of y'all from Breakthrough & RHS got kids in there so I'm really just tryna help fr. I stopped working there a month ago & didn't wanna shake the table, but what they're doing is not right. And they will not admit to any of these actions which is ultimately child abuse. I also know how messy you LI mamas are so send this to whoever you want. Before daycare, we had an au pair, but we felt he would benefit more from being around other children. Of all the options we explored, Goddard was by far the best choice. The school is safe, clean, and has plenty of outdoor space for kids to run and play, plus an indoor gym for rainy or very cold days. The staff is passionate about their work, maintains strict teacher-to-child ratios, and follows a curriculum that balances fun with learning. We receive photos throughout the day and a helpful en-of-day report. We've been very happy with all my son's teachers over the years. They've made him feel special, encouraged his growth, and helped him form strong friendships. The children motivate one another in such a positive way. Some people mention that tuition is higher than other schools, but we feel it's worth it for the level of care and education provided. You do need to pack lunch and snacks daily, but that's no different from feeding your child at home-and it ensures they'll eat food they enjoy. Coming from NYC, we were expecting long daycare waitlists, so we reached out six months before his start date. To our surprise, we had no issues getting a spot, and he's been enrolled full time since day one. We highly recommend this school.

If you need to withdraw your child, many schools have a 30-day opt-out clause - Goddard's opt-out clause is 60 days, and you need to be careful because they are extremely vague and unclear when it comes to money. The teachers seemed entirely disinterested in the families and children, the outdoor space is tiny, and the overall environment did not feel welcoming.

Every teacher knows the children's names even if they aren't in that teacher's class. They take any concerns seriously. The facility is clean and neat and welcoming. No daycare is perfect, I assure you, but Lightbridge is perfect for us and I'm more than happy with the care my children are getting there.
