Best dentist I've ever had in my life, period, end of story. I wish I could have taken him with me…read moreto the USA. I've had a lot of dentists and Dr. Walters is the best. Other dentists have been a disaster. Dr. Walters had solutions to all of my problems and the training and technology to make it happen. When I needed to get cavities replaced he knew to shrink the nerve first before putting on a permanent filling. My previous dentist did not and I ended up with a root canal. Dr Walters had a simple modern appliance for my teeth grinding, my previous dentists wanted to sell me a complicated 'old' style appliance. As a result of all of my experience with Dr. Walters, he's the only dentist I've ever trusted 100%.

Despite having lived in TO for close to three years now, rather than find a new dentist, I kept…read morereturning to Metropolitan Dental when in Ottawa for work. I suppose this fact alone speaks volumes about the quality of care. I honestly love the team at Metropolitan Dental. From my perspective, there are three elements that set them apart. Chairside manner. I have always felt safe, comfortable and included in what was happening to me. The hygenists and Dr. Walters himself always explains what they are doing and why. I have always felt like a participant in what was happening rather than simply an open mouth having things done to it. Gentle Hands. Not sure how else to term it but Dr. Walters and each of the hygenists I had the pleasure to have work on my teeth, were exceptionally gentle with how they handled the various instruments both in and around my mouth. Not once do I recall having winced or experienced so much as a twinge of pain. Warm Familiar Welcome. This one applies to all - from Grace and the rest of the team in office management and adminstration, the hygenists, right to Dr. Walters (Dr. B) himself. I have always felt warmly welcomed. I have always felt recognized. And it astonishes me to no end how the team at Metropolitan Dental remembers details about my life discussed during a prior visit. I have never understood why so many of my friends hated going to the dentist - that is until I had to see a new dentist in TO recently. The experience was eye opening....as in painful and rough!! That one visit made me realize how amazing the quality of care is at Metropolitan Dental and how easily I had taken it for granted.

After reading a detailed review of Ron S and checking the publicly available disciplinary…read moreinformation, I decided not to choose this dentist. The concerns about treatment decisions, communication, professionalism, and accountability made me lose confidence. Dental care requires trust, and I don't feel comfortable putting my health in the hands of someone with these reported issues. Everyone should do their own research before choosing a dentist, but based on what I found, I will be looking for care somewhere else instead.

Dr. Sandhu was a great dentist, until he wasn't - and then he was the worst…read more If this was just about my dental work, this would be a very different review. Sadly, that's not the case. My wife went in for some extractions in preparation for partial dentures. There was a questionable (not really after seeing the x-rays) tooth that should have been removed but Dr. Sandhu decided to make the decision himself and leave it (rather than calling me - I'd have had him pull it)....over a long weekend....with no antibiotics and no pain killers. Long story short, my wife was in AGONY for 4 days until we could get back in for the extraction. Here's where things get weird... I was angry - yes I was. I gave him an opportunity to explain himself but all he had was lame excuses why it was anyone's but his fault. I told him that was BS and he needed to quit with the excuses and accept responsibility for his mistake. That's when he became extremely loud, combative and threatening (I was seated the entire time and he was standing). I told him, "You don't want to do this!" to which he replied "No, YOU don't want to do this!". At that point he squared off to me as if we were going to fight physically. Yeah.....you can't make this stuff up. At some point during that mess, I fired him (for any further work for me - not my wife - she's since fired him as well). So now I have 25K worth of dental surgery and implants with no warranty (I'm losing the last 3 years of a 5 year warranty). Enough of that - I left so my wife could get the dental work done she so desperately needed. Dr Sandhu could have avoided this entire mess with two little words - "I'm sorry." Then again based on his history I doubt those words are in his vocabulary (only my opinion of course - I couldn't possibly know for sure). As of March 14 he has essentially been neutered by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. https://www.rcdso.org/find-a-dentist/search-results/dentist?id=61915 "To restrict my practice such that I will not initiate any fixed or removable prosthodontic treatment, including but not limited to implant treatment, for any patient, including diagnosis, case selection, implant placement, restoration, work-up, follow-up care and maintenance. For greater certainty, this restriction does not prohibit me from performing restorative treatments such as single-unit crowns, inlays, or onlays, except on teeth with existing prosthodontic treatments. Arrange for the transfer of care for any patients undergoing active, finished or maintenance prosthodontic treatment, including implant treatment, to another qualified dentist." So, a dental surgeon that can't perform anything remotely related to surgery or implants?!!? I wish I'd done my homework as this is the exact same thing he was reprimanded for in 2019. No doubt my implants are going to fail leaving me with a mess. Oh, and then there's the impaired from 2019. A Dr. that thinks it's ok to take other people's lives in his hands by driving drunk? (technically he refused to provide a breath sample - same charge - lost his license for a year). In short - just stay away. I'd guess this entire practice is circling the drain at this point. I'd imagine one more complaint to the college about Dr. Sandhu and he'll likely lose his license to practice dentistry and dental surgery. That would be rough but well deserved I'd say... (although I will feel bad for his staff as most of them are wonderful).
