They were 2 hours late,dismantled everything without keeping the screws brackets etc with the dismantled furniture, missing legs to couch and an armoire. broke several items and once we were completely unpacked we noticed quite a few things missing including three sculptures five antique Mantle clocks, three wall clocks, an antique Louis xvi's painting in intricate gold frame all our crystal stemware, the door handles to our fridge which she said she had and would mail to us which hasn't happened after 2 months. And at the end of the move they hit me with over $1,000 more than the price quoted when Carmen came to the house to assess how much labor and time would be needed. When I called in to discuss the damaged and missing items I was told it was 60 days since the move(1day past) that I needed to fill out a PDF form listing the damaged and missing items but "most likely would Not be compensated" . Sending the form was difficult since for some reason all the ink cartridges and internal components were taken out of the printer. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! DO NOT USE THIS "COMPANY"! I scheduled a move for gym equipment and SPECIFICALLY told Carmen EXACTLY how detailed the job would be. She PROMISED me, her people had "experience" with my specific gym sustem before. I even sent her a picture of the gym system and a link for it. She reassured me her people had the experience and the right tools to move it, so I scheduled a day. Turns out, "her experienced people" has had ZERO experience moving gym equipment EVER and her people LITERALLY told this to my husband when they got to my house and were CLUELESS as to what to do! I texted Carmen back, she text me trying to save her ASS, saying the crew she sent out "wasn't qualified" but she could send out another crew later in the day! WHHHYYY would she even send out an incompetent crew to BEGIN WITH! Let alone, THINK I would ACTUALLY wait around ANOTHER FOUR HOURS for her 2nd round of incompetent people to move my equipment!? The phone conversation DIDN'T get any better as she PRETENDED not to be the person I originally scheduled with and then she wouldn't even come to a middle ground of taking responsibility for her own actions and flat out LIES she told me about her people's "experience and knowledge". This was my first time using movers and after hearing many horror stories from friends, I was apprehensive about using a moving service. However, moving is a lot of work and I personally didn't want to spend all day moving or making friends move me for pizza, lol. I booked about 2 months in advance just to make sure things were secured and ready to go. I first went with a different company but something didn't sit right so I decided to further my search and after sifting through so many moving companies, outrageous quotes, and tons of reviews, I chose Carpe Diem and I'm glad I did. Their service is impeccable! Jairo and Mary have been great to work with and are quick. Mary is extremely helpful, responsive, and prompt with any questions and concerns. Jairo came on moving day and him and his team took extreme care of my belongings - wrapping every piece of furniture, ensuring what needed to be moved, asked questions if things weren't in the greatest shape to begin with, etc. Making the move from Frisco back down to Dallas, this has been my least stressful move thanks to the Carpe Diem team. I was beyond impressed with the level of professionalism and patience my movers had with me! I'd accidentally slept through my alarm making me late for my moving appt. They still treated me with the utmost respect, were so careful with my belongings, and even pointed out and packed a few things I hadn't gotten to yet. I gave them a rough idea of how I wanted my storage unit set up, and after going to fill out the storage paperwork, I came back and they had set it up even better than what I'd asked for!! Had them move my stuff back in my house. I didn't have very much stuff and the still manages to damage stuff in my house. Use dolly to bring thing upstairs instead of asking his co worker for help and chipped and scratch up new wood floors i just had put in 2 months prior, also dropped a table while bring it in to kitchen, dropped it and hit and dented the corner of a wall. Absolutely the worst experience of my life. We confirmed several times during the week before the move on Saturday the 23rd. Carpe Diem called me at 5:30 Friday Night to cancel the move that was scheduled for Saturday at 8AM (what type of business does that??) I have emails from May 15th, May 18th, and May 20th confirming besides several phone calls We then rescheduled from Sunday, but I had already begun moving boxes, personal items, and etc - so I had friends come over and help move everything but the safe on Friday Night. When I spoke to Maria at Carpe Diem - to get the estimate I gave them exact information including that the safe weighed 600 lbs. When the movers showed up Sunday at 8 AM to move the safe - they should up with a rubber tire dolly and let was it!!!!!. They kept asking me "Should we wrap it? Do you want blankets on it?" They were suppose to be the experts, why are they asking me these things. They got the safe from one apartment to the first floor of the second unit and then could not get it up the stairs (no surprise - they had the wrong equipment) - I then said I would run to Home Depot to get a dolly and some pry bars to help lift it. While I was at Home Depot, they called and said that they could not move the safe, the boss told them to stop, and that they had another job to get to. So they left the safe in the middle of the breezway and just left - before I could even get back?? My neighbor watched the whole thing and could not believe it I then called the owner and he wanted to argue with me that I lied to them and told them 300 lbs - no way. I called 5 moving companies and gave them the same information - Carper Diem quoted me $175 for the safe and I asked Maria on the phone twice to make sure we were on the same page This company was the biggest joke and provide me more stress on a move than I have ever had in my 50 years on this earth. And to make things even better I have a witness to the whole screwed up attempt by Carpe Diem's crew to move that safe and then watched them just drop it and leave while I was out trying to get things to help them out. We recently used Carpe Diem Moving Co. for moving. The guys that did the work had a VERY positive attitude and went the extra mile. The ONLY 2 things I have remarks about are these: 1. When I relocated last time from Austin to Arlington, I had 2 bodies from another company that performed the same task as the 3 i had with Carpe Diem (loading/unloading), completed in far less time. 2. The estimate was WAY off, by about $300 which ties in with #1 above. The additional time it took to do the work with 3 bodies is what rose the cost of the move. I chose Carpe Diem for my move after reviewing several other moving companies and receiving several estimates. Carpe Diem gave me an estimate of $400-$500 for my move, based off of information asked about my move. When the movers were done, I was charged $900. They did NOT have to do anything but move furniture and boxes out of my old place and into the new one. I lived in a 2 bedroom, little over 1,000 sq. ft. apartment and moved into one smaller, both on the second floor. I have a loveseat, 2 person couch, two beds, a few clothes, more books than anything, and was charged $900 to move from Plano, TX to Carrollton, TX. There were 3 movers. Don't choose them unless you have money to spare, they will under quote and provide sub par service. They messed up my finances terribly, unapologetically. Being charged more than twice the quote and for the service that I received... unacceptable. read more

They required me to purchase additional insurance From Muzi insurance.com which cost me $150.00 24 hours ahead of time come . Two days before the move the original movers we scheduled with had to cancel due to one of their employees having Covid. Carpe Diem movers came as a recommendation from the movers who had to cancel. They charge by the hour ($80 per hour) and then charged an additional $65 to drop things off at the Salvation Army. That was the only place that their truck had to go. So my question is when they load things up onto their truck, I guess they would charge an additional $65 to just drop it off in your new home. Regardless, we made arrangements for the very next day with a two hour window from 1 to 3 PM. The movers never showed up at the time they were supposed to. We waited at least an hour before we started contacting them to get an ETA. We contacted Carpe Diem several times and always got answers like we can't get a response from the movers, but they will be there. What kind of business doesn't know where their employees are?! We ended up canceling with them for that day and rescheduling for the very next morning between 8 and 10 AM. Unfortunately, we were coming from out of town and had to do the move that weekend and we were left between a rock and a hard place. Again, the next morning we gave them approximately about an hour to show up within their 2 hour window before we called the business and texted the owner. We were very anxious and thinking of alternative measures because of the "no-show" the previous day. Five minutes later the movers called and said they were 30 minutes away. The owner said it was a coincidence that the call came shortly after we texted her, but who really knows. Towards the end of the move the owner called to make sure everything was going OK which we wish she would've done the day before. She made excuses like their computer had a glitch in the system the day before and that is why her lead person didn't know he had another job, but then said they had to fire their lead person over it. Again, who knows what the truth is. They did give us a $15 discount and waived the credit card fee for the inconvenience. So, approximately $20 for the stress and frustration. However, there was the additional drop fee of $65 just to bring everything they loaded on their truck to Salvation Army. Again, there was no other place their truck had to go. Be warned they only take cash or credit card. Credit card transactions incur an additional 3% fee. They do not take checks. We were thankful that it did finally get done. But feel like this business is pretty shady. Take caution! read more

My mother used this company. She filled out some sort of questionnaire to get a quote for her move. She was quoted $89 an hour. Somewhere on this questionnaire it asked roughly how many boxes she had and she put 10-15. First of all, it's hard to estimate how many boxes you are going to have when you don't have boxes, haven't even packed yet & you don't even know what size boxes you're going to use. That question shouldn't even be on the questionnaire. Allow to explain why -- I could put on the questionnaire that I have 10-15 boxes (which my mother did put on her questionaire/comtract) Now....for the sake of argument, let's say the boxes I choose to use are 45 gallon rubbermaid bins. Also, for the sake of argument let's say that I am a powerlifter. Now you have a powerlifter with 45 gallon boxes full of 45lb plates & each box weighs 360lbs.....does the quote change? I would assume it would but I can't say for sure. My mother is no powerlifter....in fact she is a senior citizen. However, she did sign a contract/questionaire in order to get a quote stating that she had roughly 10-15 boxes. Well, upon arrival she had more than 15. Were the boxes filled with t-shirts & Xmas decorations (2lbs)??? Maybe. We're they filled with free weights? No. If you put thought into it, suddenly this question becomes absurd & should be eliminated from the questionaire people fill out in order to get a quote. When all was said in done, 2 guys moved 6 pieces of furniture, 2 televisions (flat screens are SUPER HEAVY, as we all know), and some boxes. Here is the kicker....they HAD AN ELEVATOR to move all these boxes (that DOUBLED her quote) upstairs. My wife was there at the time this whole box discussion took place. He did inform her that it was going to cost her more to move the furniture but both my mother and my wife witnessed him say that the move would be no more than $600. It was $720!!! I used American Moving Company. They charged me $80 an hour, which is $10 less than the $89 an hour my mother was charged. They charged me $20 trip fee. 2 guys worked for 2 hours & moved me for $180....with NO ELEVATORS. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO AMERICAN MOVING COMPANY!!! Oh, wait, I almost forgot -- customer service. The woman called me back and she was very sweet and cordial at the beginning of the phone call....for a minute. Then she proceeded to cut me off & not allow to get a word in the rest of the time. Manners can't be stressed enough. The lady (and I use the term loosely)answering the phone was one of the rudest people I have ever spoke to. The weather was rainy off and on all day. I called to reschedule and was told they do this in the rain all the time and all my things would be wrapped to protect from the weather. I had one medium storage and one small storage with a bedroom suit, a few miscellaneous things and the rest boxes. Three movers along with a large truck show up, and did I mention the truck was damaged on the roof. It took them all three the better of 4 hours to load the truck. They were so incompetent they couldn't get all items on the truck, and the items were not wrapped as mentioned. When delivered to end destination my boxes were soaked with rain from the damaged roof and my dresser was damaged while moving into the house. And to top off the bad experience the phone "lady" had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to leave a tip. I'm sure you don't have to ask me what my answer was.
