a close up of a door handle

To anyone that is considering using the Carpet Exchange, DONT. We went in to pick out new carpet for our bedrooms and was greeted by salesperson Lisa who was helpful and informative. We chose a carpet and schedule a measurement. The worker that measured was nice and professional. That's where our positive experience ended. The men that came to install immediately told us we had to clear out our whole garage so they could cut the carpet indoors. We were never told this and had to move a ton of stuff outside. They walked in and out with their dirty boots, tracking mud throughout the house. They also smelled strongly like cigarettes and our home stunk for two days! We have an infant and this was very concerning. We suspect they were even smoking in our garage with the door to the house open. They kept crashing into our walls and stair rails with the carpet rolls and rubbed paint off of both. We paid extra to have them move furniture and could hear them dropping stuff and crashing furniture into walls, doors and door frames. We then decided to move our own furniture because we were sick of watching them destroy our house. When they were done, we moved furniture back into each room and noticed paint was missing on baseboards, doors, and door frames. After the two installers left, we realized that they didn't hang out sliding closet doors back up and they left broken pieces for the door tracks on the window sills. They also left staples, carpet, and pad bits in all of our floor vents. We had to clean every single one out. A week later, I went to grab sheets from a closet and noticed old carpet padding left on a top closet shelf in between pillows and bedding. We paid extra for a new trim piece to be installed between our bedroom and bathroom and the installers used the old one. The installers also pulled up too much on a threshold piece between the hall and bedroom and broke it/stripped the screw holes that it was screwed into. When I called carpet exchange to tell them what happened, they tried to brush it off and said that wall scratches are bound to happen with a carpet installation, but I could send pictures if I felt it was excessive. I sent pictures of my dinged up doors, door frames, baseboards, dirty floor vents, broken trim piece, and missing new trim piece. They agreed to fix it. I then got a call from the installer saying "hey. You got me in trouble. I'll come fix it". Um, no thanks. Why would I want the same worker to come into my house after being upset that I "got him in trouble". I called the store again and they said they'd send someone else out. A week later, someone came and used my paint and paint brushes to touch up all the necessary areas. Our door frames are chipped, but at least the paint matches now. He hung up the closet doors and replaced the broken pieces. He also installed a new trim piece between the bathroom and bedroom. He said he couldn't fix the trim between the hallway and bedroom and that someone else would have to come. Two weeks later, someone new came and said he could only glue it down and hope it stayed fixed. This has taken up 3 days over one month with workers coming in and out with their dirty boots on and I still have noticeable damage. Do not. I repeat, do not use carpet exchange for anything. We went with them even though they weren't the cheapest because we felt they'd do a good job. Wow, was that a mistake! Update: the store manager gave me $150 back on the over $2000 total. In my opinion, this is not nearly enough for dealing with this horrible experience and I still have dented door frames and baseboards- they're just painted over so they're a little less noticeable. Also of note- the manager called and asked me to remove this review since he gave me $150.

We've use Carpet Exchange in the past, so when we needed carpet, we went there. David Hrabik was the sales person. Showed us carpet, explained the grades, showed the sales. We selected a nice carpet. Their measurer seemed competent. Delivery on time. Installer, Eric was very friendly. Enter the carpet- walls, doors, edges, & stairs now have paint scraped, gouged, stair edges broken off. Girlfriend arrives for who knows what reason. "We're done" and they leave. One closet not done, we'll be back, it must have been measured wrong. Then my husband notices the top of stairs is gouged and carpet just flapping, 1st closet isn't tacked down nor to the wall. We're told carpet would be arriving. 10 days later, 3 phone calls by us. These 3 we made! Nothing from - he seemed irritated and imposed upon by the calls. ( Know the credit card was charged) Write a tone when we asked for a different installation crew. No offers for $ back, no apologies. Gavin installation coordinator said we'd get $60 installation refunded- still waiting. I had to call to find out if they were coming to correct errors, complete the job. (Nothing from David Hrabik, sales) 2 men(David& David) arrived and looked shocked at the shoddy workmanship and apologized (1st). Got it fixed. Salesman David Hrabik VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.NO , YES for install crew David&David. 5 Carpet & flooring are great, well priced, quick receipt of quality product. 4

Sent wrong carpet and padding. After asking they argued about it and did nothing to make it right.

It was so hard that he shook the dome off my light fixture down below. The fixture broke, and Frenchy told me I could just superglue that back together ... and he thought that was fine. He was installing some of the planks in a room with a new sink. The room was under construction, and the sink wasn't attached yet. There was no drain, and no faucet. He filled up his water bucket in the shower, and instead of pouring that down that shower drain or the toilet when he was done, he poured it down the sink that had no drain. Water went all over the inside of my new cabinet, which he hardly wiped up. When I went down hours later to see how things were doing, the floor of my brand new thousand dollar cabinet was still covered in a half inch of standing water and the floor of the cabinet was ruined. He didn't think that was any big deal either. He used duct tape to hold down a transition piece. And when I pulled the duct tape up the next day, it pulled the finish off that transition piece. Brand new, and it was also trashed. The planks he laid look good, but he did so much peripheral damage, that I would never, ever recommend Frenchy. Post reply by owner: A few corrections to your reply: You did not offer to replace the vanity. You offered to lay vinyl plank flooring on the floor of the inside of the cabinet, to hide all the waviness from that water you poured down there having sat there. That plank flooring would have added bit of height to the floor, onto which the drawer mounts sat, which would have made the drawers not fit in the space. I left the sink drain in its packaging sitting inside that sink, so that it should have been obvious that the drain wasn't hooked up. And there is absolutely no excuse for your not having totally... totally... wiped up every bit of water you poured down there. You told me you thought you had cleaned it up pretty well. I don't know what a half inch of water standing on the cabinet floor could meet your definition of "pretty well". Even if you had offered to replace the entire cabinet, which you did not, that would have required me to redo all the tile work around the cabinet installation. I am bothered by your diminishing your having broken my kitchen light fixture. It doesn't matter if it was small or big. It was one of a group of nine can lights in my kitchen. HomeDepot no longer carried that exact style, so that I would have had to replace eight of them to match the one you would have replaced. I did not pull up that duct tape until after I had left the original review, so that was another piece of damage I found. I was just down there, cleaning the bathroom, getting ready for houseguest, and I got annoyed with you all over again. You were very careless in several ways that damaged my house. I think it's only fair to warn your customers that you could do that.

The price was really reasonable, in comparison to both Lowe's and Home Depot (and the selection was a lot better). We got a call the day before our installation, to confirm the job and Eric arrived at 8:15 the next morning. He was actually early!! Eric did a really wonderful job -- our house is old, old and the vinyl was going over very old linoleum (horrid old stuff!!) Our kitchen floor was completely done by about 11:00. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!! My husband and I want to thank both Jim and Eric and let them know that we'll be back!! Thanks!! After our great experience with the vinyl flooring -- we went back, looking for carpet for our enclosed porch. As we walked in the door -- Jim welcomed us back!! Remembered us -- nice! We found carpet we love and scheduled installation for the following week. Day before installation, again a phone call to confirm. Again -- the installer was EARLY!!!! As far as I'm concerned, the service is great! Our carpet is lovely and we're very pleased and will absolutely recommend.

I had never heard of them, but I am sure glad they were mentioned to me! This is one of the discount carpet places that sells discontinued carpeting and it is so worth it! After visiting several different places and not being able to find anything even close to my existing carpet color, I walked in and was helped by Kay. She very quickly helped me find a similar color and quality product for my basement. she definitely knows her stuff! Not only that, but it was such a reasonable price! I think the only minimal downside was the carpet installers and their slight carelessness in getting the carpet into the basement. After forcing down a couple chunks of carpet where they scratched up the banisters and the front door they started folding it differently so that they could get it down easier in subsequent trips, but I would not say that they were extremely careful. One of the trips where one of the guys was trying to carry it down and it unrolled. Instead of going back up the stairs, re-rolling it and making it down without incident, instead they forced the carpet down the stairs. Not horrible, but not excellent either. For this I knock off a star. Dealing with everyone here was very easy, professional and there were no complications at all. Need carpet? I recommend this business highly! Go here first! The carpet meets my expectations and looks really nice!

Large selection of premium carpet and pad samples in the show room at economy to various diamond premium price points. Bought carpet during a holiday sale before the end of the year. Scheduling of install was easy and worked around our limited availability. The sale person even had the installers scheduled to move a upright 44 inch Baldwin piano and furniture into the garage. I felt appreciated for the purchase by installers and the main installer did an excellent job with the skim coat to smooth out a dip in the expansion seams and the other veteran installer fixed two creaky stairs. Very friendly and I would hire that team again. The team was quick but took the time to clean by the truck and all of the carpet strains near cuts off the floor and baseboards. Attention to detail and pride in finished product shows. I didn't have to clean up in the driveway or street , when install team left. Experienced staff and service. I recommend this location to anyone looking for an excellent experience and careful handling of process from selection of flooring to final install and clean up.
