Ordered new flooring from their Colorado Springs location for our new house to be installed. The whole deal has turned into a nightmare. We were told Levi, the gentleman that initially helped us, wrote down and ordered the wrong flooring for our kitchen. We found out when the installer had us verify before tearing our existing floor up a few days after the carpet was installed. The installers left upset they were not getting paid that day after not working all week. When we called them about it, and Levi was out of the office. The person we spoke to made us feel like we were not being truthful and trying to change our order on them. They told us that they would see what they could do about it. Our realtor was involved in this transaction and knew what flooring we chose as we were in close contact that day and I had my wife on video chat while we chose the flooring as she is a DOD employee and was still working at our old location. Then they took the money out of my account for the kitchen floor with no resolution in place and no call or notification that they were. My realtor asked if she would like us to call them because she was the one that referred us to them and Carpet Exchange mistakenly put her name as the person the flooring was sold to and us as the "Ship To". So she called them. I was called and told that Levi did not remember anything about our visit. I was told to come into their store to show them the flooring I chose. I understand errors and we have been very understanding. When I arrived, Levi was "off" again and I felt like the older gentleman that was there was using every tactic he could to make it not their fault and get me to admit something. After several minutes of back and forth explaining things and showing him the correct flooring, He said they would get it taken care of and I went home. After several days of waiting I was talking to my realtor who called Carpet Exchange wondering what's going on seeing her name is on the job too. Only then, did Brock (another new person) call me and say that he "needed to inspect the existing floor again" because Levi wrote the existing flooring down as a more expensive Tile and Concrete removal which the first installers that came out with the wrong flooring stated it was not. When Brock arrived he admitted that Levi did write the correct flooring down originally but ordered the wrong flooring. He said he saw what he wrote down. He looked at the existing flooring and the hole the carpet people put in the wall and told us he would get it resolved. He also took pictures of the hole. This was Nov 18. We have been understanding and very nice to this point. We recorded everything because you know... big businesses... On Nov 22nd I sent Brock a text stating that all of the delays and the way this has been handled was unacceptable. This morning, (23rd), Levi, who hasn't made any effort to contact us throughout this whole dilemma calls us and starts telling us that we are not allowed to be upset about the situation and started finding ways to pick our conversation apart. I presented all the evidence and he did not care and said that they cannot do the job and is going to refund the money for the job. I asked him the amount and it was not the same amount that was on the Job sheet he gave me and started giving me more excuses about how they got the taxes wrong. I told Levi to refund our money and contact their corporate management to get in touch with me. He told me that he would see if he could get them to call me and that it's up to them. I then told Levi that they are to have somebody at my house immediately to fix the damage their installers didn't tell them about. I informed Levi that we are going to contact corporate and post reviews about our experience and he told us to go ahead with our empty threats and treating us like he is above us during this last conversation and he cannot be touched. To anyone that is considering using the Carpet Exchange, DONT. We went in to pick out new carpet for our bedrooms and was greeted by salesperson Lisa who was helpful and informative. We chose a carpet and schedule a measurement. The worker that measured was nice and professional. That's where our positive experience ended. The men that came to install immediately told us we had to clear out our whole garage so they could cut the carpet indoors. We were never told this and had to move a ton of stuff outside. They walked in and out with their dirty boots, tracking mud throughout the house. They also smelled strongly like cigarettes and our home stunk for two days! We have an infant and this was very concerning. We suspect they were even smoking in our garage with the door to the house open. They kept crashing into our walls and stair rails with the carpet rolls and rubbed paint off of both. We paid extra to have them move furniture and could hear them dropping stuff and crashing furniture into walls, doors and door frames. We then decided to move our own furniture because we were sick of watching them destroy our house. When they were done, we moved furniture back into each room and noticed paint was missing on baseboards, doors, and door frames. After the two installers left, we realized that they didn't hang out sliding closet doors back up and they left broken pieces for the door tracks on the window sills. They also left staples, carpet, and pad bits in all of our floor vents. We had to clean every single one out. A week later, I went to grab sheets from a closet and noticed old carpet padding left on a top closet shelf in between pillows and bedding. We paid extra for a new trim piece to be installed between our bedroom and bathroom and the installers used the old one. The installers also pulled up too much on a threshold piece between the hall and bedroom and broke it/stripped the screw holes that it was screwed into. When I called carpet exchange to tell them what happened, they tried to brush it off and said that wall scratches are bound to happen with a carpet installation, but I could send pictures if I felt it was excessive. I sent pictures of my dinged up doors, door frames, baseboards, dirty floor vents, broken trim piece, and missing new trim piece. They agreed to fix it. I then got a call from the installer saying "hey. You got me in trouble. I'll come fix it". Um, no thanks. Why would I want the same worker to come into my house after being upset that I "got him in trouble". I called the store again and they said they'd send someone else out. A week later, someone came and used my paint and paint brushes to touch up all the necessary areas. Our door frames are chipped, but at least the paint matches now. He hung up the closet doors and replaced the broken pieces. He also installed a new trim piece between the bathroom and bedroom. He said he couldn't fix the trim between the hallway and bedroom and that someone else would have to come. Two weeks later, someone new came and said he could only glue it down and hope it stayed fixed. This has taken up 3 days over one month with workers coming in and out with their dirty boots on and I still have noticeable damage. Do not. I repeat, do not use carpet exchange for anything. We went with them even though they weren't the cheapest because we felt they'd do a good job. Wow, was that a mistake! Update: the store manager gave me $150 back on the over $2000 total. In my opinion, this is not nearly enough for dealing with this horrible experience and I still have dented door frames and baseboards- they're just painted over so they're a little less noticeable. We've use Carpet Exchange in the past, so when we needed carpet, we went there. David Hrabik was the sales person. Showed us carpet, explained the grades, showed the sales. We selected a nice carpet. Their measurer seemed competent. Delivery on time. Installer, Eric was very friendly. Enter the carpet- walls, doors, edges, & stairs now have paint scraped, gouged, stair edges broken off. Girlfriend arrives for who knows what reason. "We're done" and they leave. One closet not done, we'll be back, it must have been measured wrong. Then my husband notices the top of stairs is gouged and carpet just flapping, 1st closet isn't tacked down nor to the wall. We're told carpet would be arriving. 10 days later, 3 phone calls by us. These 3 we made! Nothing from - he seemed irritated and imposed upon by the calls. ( Know the credit card was charged) Write a tone when we asked for a different installation crew. No offers for $ back, no apologies. Gavin installation coordinator said we'd get $60 installation refunded- still waiting. I had to call to find out if they were coming to correct errors, complete the job. (Nothing from David Hrabik, sales) 2 men(David& David) arrived and looked shocked at the shoddy workmanship and apologized (1st). Got it fixed. He patiently answered all of our questions and concerns during the selection process and very clearly explained all costs and what to expect. Sorry I gotta give them one star! Do not make any important plans with this company! Total incompetence, layered on top of arrogance. I ordered engineered hardwood for a level of my house more than a month in advance of my move-in date, paid for it, and was told it would be in in one week and that I could pick it up any time. I was also told that if I needed any more, they keep plenty around and I could just come back and get more. A week later, my salesman called me to see if I was still planning on buying the floor I had been looking at. He got my number when I bought it and then forgot why he had it. I had to remind him I'd be in in another couple weeks to pick it up. He said, "no problem". About another 10 days later (a week before I needed to pick it up and take it to the home), I decided to add two more cases of flooring to my purchase to be sure I'd have more than I needed to acclimate it to the site, and they said, "if everything goes alright, it may be here the first week of next month"...Two weeks after I needed to pick it up. A week after my move-in date. Five weeks after I ordered it. Had I not added more, I never would have been (accidentally) told. I called the manager and he gets the "bad service of the year" award. He said he couldn't get the floor and I simply said that I would need to get a refund. So he said, "that's fine and dandy with me". His attitude was completely unsurprising given the way the store was being run. They had no knowledge of their product but could bad mouth their competition with the best of them. I only dealt with them because they had the flooring I liked but from the greeting to the refund, it was a nightmare. Steer clear! read more

We just bought a house and need to redo the floors in the whole house. We went to the Havana location in Aurora with the intention of writing them a check that day for their business. We spent about 30 minutes walking around the store, picking out what we wanted. Not one employee acknowledged us. We were completely ignored the entire time, so we finally just left. We then tried twice to make an appointment with the Aurora East location and were again completely ignored. Apparently they don't want our money so we will be taking our business elsewhere. I have used this store and actually, this same leading (volume) salesperson, twice, over a 7 year period. Solid hardwood was purchased and installed by CE in both instances. While the first purchase and installation proceeded fairly smoothly, we did note large gaps in between the wood slats at the installation and since the installation. Others having observed the floors, and knowledgeable in wood flooring, said the same thing. I figured that it must have been the milling, as the product is made in China. On this second install, a different installer, but both with CE, confirmed that many things were not done properly, and yes, asked why the installer didn't tighten up the gaps between the slats before nailing them. He confirmed that the problem was not the milling. With job 1, each time I observed a problem with the installation, the installer acted as though it was my responsibility to bring problems to his attention, not his burden to maintain quality control. In both jobs, I asked about the origin of the flooring and the salesperson--both times--said that it would prove a huge ordeal to determine where it was from. In both jobs, the boxes say "made in China" on them. Yes, I prefer American or Canadian wood, although such is getting harder to locate. The second install was riddled with a "blow and go" approach to everything. Here I am in LA feverishly working on a real estate purchase and rushed home, driving 1,400 miles by car to meet my promise--to be present for the installation. The installer and salesperson are leaving conflicting texts as far as the dates. Once I arrive home, the installer I was promised is not present. Instead, his workers come. They did -- from what I can see-- a super job, why I was challenged giving them 1 star. But if staff are installing, why not tell the customer up front? I learn that the installers present do not have the needed T moldings, and it would be 2 months' delay to get these. The salesperson lets me scramble home from CA (doing an all nighter, barely eating, and more) all the while knowing, but not telling me, that the installer will actually have to facsimile or hand make the T moldings, because they were back ordered. Why didn't he call me and give me the option of postponing the installation? I am told that the second half of the money is due at the installation. Instead, this hurried salesperson demands payment the day BEFORE the flooring is installed. The installers pressure me to install the wood without the customary acclimation process, i.e., letting the wood sit inside the home for 2-3 days. The installers did not know where the wood was going to be installed. I explained this all in grave detail previously to the CE measurer. The installers did not know that I was donating wood from job 1 to job 2 for the closet. This is scary, the poor communication having ensued despite the unbelievable sacrifices I made to be present for the installation. Once the wood is installed, and during the actual installation, I tell the salesperson that I don't have a large balance credit card and will have to pay the remaining half with a check. He calls no less than 11 times, demanding payment. Do you think he was calling to inquire as to whether I was pleased with the work or the quality of the wood? No. Just wants the money. This alone was frantic, rude and neurotic. I paid them the same day of the installation, hand delivering a check to them. I had been out of state for a month. The product itself varies tremendously from the sample. The finish has large scalloping / ripples in it with a honey oak hue. The sample was a true light birch color. In summary, the less rushed staff here were kind and the high volume person was in too big of a rush to be effective. It's a bad used car buying experience here. I'm a small real estate developer and buy thousands of dollars in flooring, lighting and paint monthly. This was more painful than anything I can remember. read more

Working with Carpet Exchange was truly a disappointing experience. The first thing to note is they hire sub-contractors for all of their installations, meaning the people that show up to your house do not work for Carpet Exchange. We had new carpet installed in December of 2013; when the contractor arrived it was one guy named Pedro. He was the only contractor that decided to work that day. When I called Carpet Exchange to inform their installation manager, Mike, of the situation he told me one person on the crew was sick and the other person "is young but is on his way". I suppose that was his way of saying the other guy was irresponsible and un-dependable because he never showed up. I called Carpet Exchange multiple times and finally spoke with the manager Steve. I told him there was no way one person can install carpet in our house in one day. He said "I don't know what you want me to do. It's not like I can go over there and install the carpet"! Word for word...that is what the manager of Carpet Exchange said to me. I told him he needed to find another crew to come out and get this job done. It was about 20 minutes later when he called to say they had another crew coming out. Two other guys showed up around 12:30/1:00 p.m., the first guy was there at 8:00 a.m. and they weren't finished with the install until after 8:00 p.m.! The next couple of days we started noticing lumps in the carpet, they left two of the blades from their carpet cutters sitting on the window sills in both of my kids bedrooms, we found a small hole in the wall, two cracked base boards, scratches all over our wood stair railing, areas where the carpet wasn't tucked and trimmed, visible seams, and chipped paint on a couple of walls. When I contacted Carpet Exchange to inform them of the issues, it took another month before Mike, the install manager, came out to inspect. Then after showing home the issues he said "there isn't any way for me to know whether this damage was done by the crew or not". I told him it wasn't there before they started so its safe to say they did it. He then went on to say they would probably just glue the baseboard trim back together and put some putty on the walls. He asked if we had any extra paint. He told me he would have the crew back out to fix the issues within the week. About a week or so after Mike was at the house we received a notice from Carpet Exchange saying they were going to put a lean on our home and get lawyers involved if we did not pay our remaining balance by the end if the month! I was furious! When the contractors left I signed a piece of paper allowing them to charge my credit card! Not only that but I also called Carpet Exchange multiple times AND had someone come back out to the house and not one time did they say a word about a remaining balance! I called and spoke to the manager Steve again and he said they don't keep track of my information so they needed me to provide them with my credit card number...again! I asked why they had me sign a paper allowing them to charge it if they don't keep the information to do so? He didn't give me an answer. I asked why I wasn't contacted earlier and asked to pay rather than threatening me? Again, I was not provided with an answer other than its policy. I told him I want my carpet fixed ASAP! Two of the guys finally showed up TWO MONTHS after the initial installation to fix the carpet. We told them not to repair any of the other damage because they would not have done it correctly. They fixed the areas that were not tacked down, cut or tucked correctly but they did not correct the lumps. They kept telling us it was the wood underneath. We told them it wasn't like that before but they kept insisting it was the wood underneath. They would not pull up the carpet and padding to show us, they just kept tapping in the floor insisting it wasn't the pad. I also believe they did not give us the correct padding. We upgraded to the 6lbs pad because their standard is 4lbs. Considering all the lumps and unevenness of the carpet, it's highly unlikely it's what we paid for. We also paid to have the furniture moved, which they did; however, they did not put anything back in its original place so we ended up having to move most of our furniture around after they left anyway. I would not ever recommend Carpet Exchange to anyone. The management is highly unprofessional and their crews are not Carpet Exchange employees and clearly very unreliable and inexperienced. I feel that Carpet Exchange is untrustworthy, dishonest and I question the legal status of some of their crew members. read more

My Husband and I went into Carpet Exchange just to look around and get ideas for our basement which we reccently pulled the carpet out of. In pulling the carpet out underneath we foound old tile!! and underneath that, concrete. We have a little girl and 2 dogs and wanted to get ideas on what to do!! We went in and Stephanie helped us, she explained all of the differences between the different tiles, cork, hard wood and helped us decided on which would be the best fit for us. They did a "bait & switch" on the carpet I purchased and I took them to court and lost because I did not get a sample of the carpet at time of purchase. Big, huge lesson learned! My company has used Carpet Exchange and specifically Greg Warner for over 20 years (probably closer to 25). I can't speak highly enough of them. The customer service is top notch and I can only think of 2 mistakes in this entire business relationship. Everyone makes mistakes though, right? It's all about how they're handled and Carpet Exchange excelled at making it right for our clients. Flooring is a busy industry so it should not be unexpected to have to wait for a bid to come in but after having some clients request we use competition, it's only given us further assurance that Carpet Exchange is the best in town! Greg has been outstanding at getting us quality product for competitive pricing. I could go on and on about the wonderful customer service and experience we've had with this company and I attribute that to Greg's hard work. I am only giving them 3 stars because the installation of our carpet upstairs was excellent. Customer service SUCKS. We bought carpet for the upstairs and granite for the kitchen and the communication was horrible. The sales person did not let us know everything that would have to take place. We were not told we would be without a sink for 3 days. She did not measure correctly for the granite AND she over measured the upstairs by 200 feet and called that "waste". Why in the world would we pay for waste???? The only reason they are getting 3 stars is for the the installers. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN. read more

Just finished having carpet installed that I bought from Carpet Exchange and it was one of the smoothest, easiest processes I have EVER experienced. The carpet was ordered on a Wednesday, I was told it would arrive by the next Wednesday [it did], and it was installed today Thursday just as promised. My salesman was David Hrabik who was patient, knowledgeable and very professional and I would recommend him highly. David was off work yesterday and I had an emergency [a friend accidentally spilled half a can of paint on my garage steps and ruined the carpet] and I spoke to Greg Warner [the sales manager] who has been a pleasure to work with and more than kind to me. I told Greg yesterday that please have the installers bring out any piece of carpet, I don't care what it looks like, it's only for some garage steps, and Greg wisely said to please come in and pick out what I want and I persisted in saying, "it's okay, whatever you send I'll like". Well, I didn't care for it just as Greg feared could happen. Greg then suggested putting in some of the left over nice quality carpeting that we were having installed in our bedroom on the garage steps and they look gorgeous! Greg very generously did not charge me for the carpet he had cut for the garage steps though it was totally my fault. He certainly didn't have to do that and I very much appreciate it. The installers were Santiago and Josefa [I'm not sure about how his name is spelled] and they were very hard-working, gentlemanly, professional workers. I've shopped at a few carpet stores before I found Carpet Exchange and believe me they had the best prices [I was looking at high end Shaw anso nylon carpet] and the best service. Finally, after two weeks, my husband contacted them and told them it'd be nice to know (they could've called to tell us) that they at least received the paperwork from our insurance co., and they're backed up and it might be a couple of weeks. My husband then made an appointment, scheduled to be off work (from an hourly job), and no one shows up to our home. He calls and finds out that the guy he set the appointment with decided that we didn't want him to come, so he (the guy) cancelled our appointment. My husband rescheduled the appointment. Oh, during this time they also left a message, the day of the original appointment, on my vm saying that they weren't coming because my husband canceled (I'm out of town at the time), and also called my husband telling him that I called to cancel the appointment (which I didn't even have knowledge of)! In the next few days a very friendly lady, Savanna, came over and took some measurements and said they'd be getting back in touch with us. It's now been over a week and we've heard nothing. DO NOT USE this company. I have used Carpet Exchange in the past and was satisfied with the carpet installation they did in my house. This time I purchased carpet and tiles from Carpet Exchange again and had them install carpet and tiles in my house. The result....They are the worst carpet company and people to work with. They Do Not respond (Customer Service Sucks). They lie to you as to when they can start and finished the job. The tile installer broke the shower handles and did not say a word until I purchased a new shower handles and requested a reimbursement from Carpet Exchange and on top of that the sales person made stories about it. The sales person clearly does not have any integrity and respect to their customers. They would not return the calls. So my advise....DO NOT USE CARPET EXCHANGE...you'll be sorry. Henry L. read more

A friend of mine who is in the Real Estate business recommended that we go to Carpet Exchange to get some prices on carpet for our basement we were finishing. He told us he has been dealing with Greg for a lot of his properties. We took his advise and couldn't be happier. Greg listened to us on what we were looking for and steered us in the right direction. We left that night with a few different samples. When we came back in after making our decision Greg happened to be off that day so Steve, who I believe is the manager, helped us. We felt like we received a fair price and definitely received great service. He was able to schedule us quickly to be installed on a Saturday so we did not have to take time off from work.The installers showed up on time and finished in one day. We couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience. We will definitely recommend Carpet Exchange to all our friends who are looking to have flooring done. We give them 5 stars hands down. Excellent customer service. Mark was attentive to my needs and delivered the carpet on time and installation is great.

An employee priced a remnant at $175. We went to purchase it the next day and were told it was $375. He said he must have "made an error." We called the regional manager in Denver who was neither apologetic nor accommodating. Bottom line: Not Trustworthy! read more
