Really knowledgable staff, no pressure selling. The phone I wanted was cheaper online and the guy selling matched the deal. I even heard one staff member to use the website I had found. Hope I haven't got any one into trouble. hehe read more

Although I take the mickey, these places are godsends if your beloved phone IS poorly, and they can generally diagnose and cure on the spot or within the day. Located on Liverpool's Lord Street, this branch of CeX is a decent sized store, albeit on the first…read morefloor you enter the store on it is slightly small. It specialises in selling second-hand technology such as consoles, games and even phones, where it buys from the public and then sells on. From the outside the store looks nicer and modern modern than other CeX stores, ditching the standard red sign and simply writing Entertainment Exchange with the CeX logo on the side, makes it has a nicer, more modern and higher class feel which is a smart idea I hope to see at more stores as that is simply what CeX stand for, to the point where it is one of my favourite parts of the store where it ditches its usual branding which I find hideous to something cooler. Going into the store the modern vibe seems to disappear, it is located up a large step and there are no lifts once you get into the store, so that's worth noting if you have trouble with them. The range of products available was decent, yet the store inside had more of a slightly cheap and more of a typical CeX vibe, not too modern, the overall cleanliness of the store also could have been improved drastically. Prices can be a little hit and miss, with some prices often costing the same to buy "new" elsewhere, CeX argue this is to give the person trading in or selling their used product back to them the best price, but in most prices one of the two prices isn't the best, so it is finding the balance to that. The store looks nice and inviting from the outside and it is in a good central Liverpool location, yet as you go into the store it doesn't scream a modern city centre location which I feel my closer branch Manchester Arndale in a way does, so I feel CeX on Lord Street only deserves a two-star rating due to the issues discussed.
CeX is a store where you can trade in your unwanted electronics goods (as long as they are in full…read moreworking order and in adequate condition) to be resold at the store. All items you trade in are fully tested to meet specific criteria, so there are no shortcomings when buyers decide to purchase pre-owned items. If an item you buy is faulty, there is a refund policy as long as you return the item with the receipt. I have been a registered member with the store for about 3 years and ever since, I have traded in many items (mostly dated mobile phones) as I often like to keep up with the trend when it comes to anything technology related! Once trading in, there is the option of 'exchange' or 'cash' but whichever you choose, there is not much difference in terms of value. It all depends on your preference. It's an ideal store for those who are into gaming, mobile phones, computers and mp3's however it if you decide to buy any of their goods, items will usually be more expensive than the RRP which in a way does not make sense because products are pre-owned; this is actually their way of making profits so be warned. Personally I would suggest this store if you wish to trade in for cash or want to buy second-hand games (these are always cheaper) but everything else is has a bigger price tag.

The phone was hardly used, not dropped or damaged. Took it back today, Monday, as obviously I was sold a cheap or faulty part and after inspecting it, he accused me of dropping the phone. This is 100% not the case and the screen isn't cracked, it's broken inside. Its obvious they are using the cheapest Chinese knock off parts and over charging. His only suggestion was I could pay another £30 for a new screen but even if it stopped working after 1 second he wouldn't do anything. I'm not stupid enough to t tricked twice but now still broken phone, with cheap, faulty parts and I'm £70 out of pocket!! DODGY AVOID DODGY AVOID DODGY AVOID

Then less than two weeks later half the connection down my phone stopped working. I refrained from saying it was a "dodgy job" and went in. I explained how I thought they had come lose. They were very happy to take a look free of charge and we would be told they would ring in an hour. 3 hours later no call, thankfully my friend had the number from the last time so we rang them. They started talking amongst themselves for all to hear in a stressful tone and then asked us to call back in 20 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes later they rang my friend back claiming I would need a new screen again. I immediately said no as clearly a correct job had not been done the first time. We went to pick up the phone (under 5 minutes walk away) when we got there I had to show no proof this was my phone, meaning they were prepared to give it to anyone. Further to this they didn't explain what was wrong with my and phone and it was disabled for over an hour. Which was not necessary as they had the password and didn't fix it so there would be no reason for them to try and log into my phone. Would not recommend this service to anyone and am thoroughly disappointed as I know have to pay a lot more to get my phone fixed. Such a waste of money.

I was looking for a sim free expensive mobile ( wont mention any brands, but its brand new and expensive haha ) she told me that they dont do sim free mobile sales in there, just contract deals, which is fair enough. she was still very helpful in telling me all the deals they had if I did decide to go for a t mobile contract for the mobile. Gave me her name, wrote the store number down and said to ring if I needed any more help. The other staff member was a friendly man, but though it sounds silly, he had his jeans under his buttocks, like rappers have their pants down a bit so you can see the name on their jockey shorts? But his jeans were actually under his bum cheeks so all his jockeys showed, I thought it was a joke at first to see if people reacted, it was like candid camera.. I expected the ghost of beadle to jump out and say 'gotcha' ;-) Still I wasnt offended and I was happy with the help I got :-) I'm going to give this shop 3 stars because of the lack of sim only mobiles to be bought in store and because it feels quite blank and bare in the store.. you dont feel like you can just stroll around looking which I find in most mobile stores though.

From the outside, the store did look nice, and they had a good number of staff in the store, the staff, in particular, seemed okay but high staffing levels with OK staff isn't bad at all. They did have some unique aspects of the store including a Samsung wall, which I did like but this confused me - Why is there an area for Samsung, who have their own store nearby in the city centre when other Three branches I've visited don't tend to have this, and nothing for Apple for example? As an Apple lover, I was disappointed. This is the larger and arguably nicer and newer branch of Three in the city too, compared to their Church Street branch which coincidentally is also right next to an O2 store too. Pretty average store, A-OK in most areas to warrant a three-star rating while not being overly impressive, as with the network I did find the Three signal to be much worse in Liverpool compared to back home in Manchester, getting really slow 4G speeds!
