We hired him to paint the house, fix siding, and replace windows. Come to find out, the majority of the homes in our neighborhood all had the same structural rot issues as ours. Christer knew all about the rot issues that plagued the neighborhood. I became aware of the issues when the workers mentioned it to me. An honest human being would have warned us about the issues prior to starting the project. I agree with reviewer Paul C. that Christer's sales skills are effective but duplicitous. As with others, this was a "lesson learned" moment for me and my wife. 1) The paint job is terrible. Roughly, after two years, you can see the old paint job through the "new" paint job. A couple of spots were missed, which is totally understandable. However, I requested a "walk through" 3 times. Never got one. 2) The craftsmanship is inconsistent--some spots are good, whereas other are mediocre and sloppy. 3) Unprofessional: precautions were not taken to avoid dirt and such being tracked into the house. Moreover, work done in a bedroom involving dry wall never included covering up the bedroom furniture! It never occurred to them that dry wall dust was all over a child's bedding, clothing, and toys!! The effort to clean-up the work done in and around the house was terrible and sloppy. After talking to many in our neighborhood, their experiences with other contractors were far more positive and successful than ours with Mattsson.

Due to the demolition required to build the stairs, we asked if they could begin that process when we left for an 8 day vacation in January. He agreed and after meetings to tighten up the design and engage his plumber we trusted our home to Gage and his team and left. Before we left he told us he not only planned on building the stairs but basically completing the entire job! While we were gone we got consistent updates, pictures and videos of the progress. When we got back the job was 99% complete. He gave us time to figure out if there were any adjustments to make and took care of our requests. They do good work on an aggressive schedule. My experience was nothing like any of the other reviews because I found the experience greatly disappointing and a waste of time and money. Jesse's lack of communication, motivation and organization led to my decision not to pursue the building of the custom home with OIC and to not trust the design documents to be accurate and complete, making this entire design experience a waste of time and money. Throughout the experience Jesse continued to demonstrate a lack of accountability or responsibility, letting me know everyone else was at fault including the city the lot is in, Heather an employee of OIC and myself but not Jesse. As Jesse stated he and his contractor made minor mistakes with their submission to the planning board like wrong year, wrong town name, whether they were using explosives or not, and removing the rain garden from the plan that was requested by me and something I wanted to have. Jesse's decisions to make changes to my requirements and not ask me but inform me or as he put it, "meant to tell me" made me mistrust what else he "meant to tell me but forgot" and the fact that I received an additional request to increase the budget significantly left me questioning if anything he stated was accurate or believable.
