Being social-savvy, I surveyed Yelp reviews and picked Churchill Auto based on the reviews, distance, and Saturday hours. I had my car towed to Churchill that night by an independent towing co. (Ugh! $100 for 0.15 miles!) not related to Churchill. Laurel, Churchill's office manager/service coordinator, was a good communicator and pleasure to deal with. I was glad that they could fix my car quickly on Saturday. Extra points for customer service, quick turnaround, and free 12 month roadside assistance. The only downside is the part seemed expensive -marked up a higher than I was expecting. I was charged $250 for a part that cost $145 (72% markup) when the industry average is 35% markup. Aside from that, it was a good experience for this out-of-towner.

And to boot, they do work that no one else would touch. For me, that included a complete rebuild of my 2006 transmission in 2024 in their shop. Yes it was costly but it was not a remanufactured tranny and extended the life of my car. If the engine goes, I'll likely return for an engine rebuild rather than a remanufactured engine. On another day, some basic work that should be simple and easy they seem capable of completely missing the mark. Couple this with their reliance on Metro Motor.com and their BG maintenance recommendations and you have what feels like a very hard sell to get your money. The BG recommendations are like a laundry list of what you MIGHT do to your auto if you had unlimited funds and just wanted to spend freely. There seems to be no rnyme or reason to the recommendations either in milage or elapased time. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying premiusm prices (which Ken's is) for premium work. That's the issue. I feel like it's sometimes worth it and other times not. I've reached the consclusion that they will get my more difficult jobs but routine maintenance will be handled elsewhere. I wonder if over time they have changed ownership or have new sales incentives in place. It's a shame. I really want them to be like The Car Talk guys from Boston and only do what's right.

Before the work started, I told them I wanted the old parts; they even have a box to check for that on the paperwork you have to fill out. When I went to get it back, they said they threw the old parts away. I asked them to get it out of the trash. The man walked back and said it was already thrown in the dumpster. I asked him to get it out of the dumpster, and he said the trash company just picked it up. Within the week, I had the same problem with my Land Rover. I went to another mechanic, and he showed me that the parts were not replaced. I paid over $1600 to Premier Autowerks for nothing. I wouldn't take any vehicle there. That place is a joke.

Eric Zamora offered me $50 or $100 discount so he wouldn't have to paint the whole door again. He said the paint had a "Lifetime" guarantee. I said that's fine, I would pay the full amount. Drove the car home and then noticed that the passenger side side view mirror was melted. Literally the paint and plastic was melted.....!!!! So I called them and drove all the way back to the shop and Eric was already gone for the day, but his worker said that they looked at a picture from the front of the car and said they could see a shadow showing that the sideview mirror looked "wavey" Bull crap!!! He said they took the mirror and the door off the front passenger side to do work on the rear passenger side, and that they only put the sideview mirror in the car and that it couldn't have gotten damaged.... I said there is NO WAY that my sideview mirror could get MELTED on the top of it while it was on my car. The plastic and paint are literally melted!!! Car is in great condition except the door that had to be repaired. Now they are saying that the MELTED sideview mirror must have already been like that. No pictures of the sideview mirror damage prior to doing the work. They melted the sideview mirror at the shop. Don't know how or who, but it wasn't melted when I dropped it off....... Every place I have ever been too takes detailed pictures of a car to make sure that this exact thing doesn't happen!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. BEWARE. Dishonest. Go somewhere else.....
