They're a great club whose members repeatedly support charities including Northern Ireland Hospice, Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary and Ireland Air Ambulance, (amongst others) and are interested in charity fundraising, ride outs, racing, rallies, social events (rallies/concerts) and touring. They are affiliated to the British Motorcycle Federation, the National Association of Bikers with Disability& Carrickfergus Rugby Football Club where their meetings are held every other Monday evening at 9pm. If you're interested in joining come along and speak to one of the members. This year will be the 9th Annual Snake Bite rally held at the Benone complex from the 24th - 26th September 2010. I've been to a few of their rallies in past years, back in the good old student days and I can tell you, they are AMAZING! There is camping facilities available, there's live entertainment (previously the likes of Flash Harry - their dummer Stevie Shanks is a biker) and there's a great wee bar held inside the marquee. There's food stalls about the place where you can sit and chill out before you get back to the craic. There's often a custom bike /streetfighter show as well as a range of stalls which sell biker gear /clothes / souvenirs for both the old and the young. For the campers, the site has toilets and showers with hot water, sinks etc. If you're in to bikes then don't let this one pass you by. It'll be one of the best weekends you'll ever have, trust me!

I've been in here a number of times, usually to functions in the function room upstairs, but it's not somewhere that I would ever make my local, as it is pretty much an old man's bar! They do have a pool room, just off from the downstairs bar, which is cool as I do enjoy the odd game of pool, and most of the bars in Carrick don't have a pool table, however the pool room is rather shabby. The staff are reasonably friendly, and the drink is cheap enough, so you would be hard pushed to dislike this place - it's just that if you are under the age of 50, it's not a very happening place to be.

We came along early so that we could have our dinner in the restaurant within the club, called the Albany. We got a table with absolutely no problem at all, and the menus were already there. There was a fantastic selection of food on offer, such as lasagne, burgers, goujons, spicy beef noodles etc. We all decided to go for the 10oz steak, and all of our steaks were cooked exactly as we had requested. They came with mushrooms, peas and tobacco onions on the plate, and a side (we all either chose mash or chips) and a sauce (pepper sauce for me!) The food was delicious and really good quality, reasonably priced, and came quickly. As for the rest of the night in the club, we had an absolute blast. Great range of drinks, quick service, great surroundings - I definitely won't be leaving it another 10 years before I return!

Now with the most modern stadium for club rugby in Europe it is a fantastic place…read more As with all rugby clubs everyone is felt to feel most welcome; no distinction made between colour, nationality or home planet. The only problem is that, even with the enhanced capacity, tickets are still like gold-dust even though they are very reasonably priced compared to English Premier League games. Anyways, Ulster Rugby has been bouyed in the last couple of years with the increasing support of the six nations, rugby world cup and the success of the Irish rugby team. Ravenhill is the fine stadium that hosts Ulster rugby. As it is coming around Heineken Cup time, tickets are going to be mental trying to get so you should try and get one for a home match. Though they are playing the opening match, chances of getting a ticket are minimal but put your name down anyways because the atmosphere at a rugby match is unmatched (unplanned pun) anywhere else. But most noticably and I don't want to drag religion into this because it is not ever present in rugby, but it is proof that people north and south can play and attend the same sport, in the same match at the same stadium without ever bringing sectarianism into it. At a rugby match everyone is the same and everyone, catholic, protestant or a gummy bear, plays and supports the same side. Not only is rugby a great sport, but it's stars are role models.

For anyone who has been trapped in a cupboard for the last 10 years, the Giants are Belfast's home ice hockey team. I'm not a great sports fan and none of us had a particular interest in ice hockey, but that didn't matter. There was such a good atmosphere and the game was so fun to watch that everyone, from age 5 up, had a blast. During the game, there is a troop of cheer leaders who do all the whooping and jumping you see on TV and during intervals various furry mascots skate about to entertain the crowd. My favourite bit was when they fired Subway subs out of a mini canon into the crowd. Didn't manage to catch one though. The game itself was really entertaining. I think some of the fights between players were stage managed but no less exciting for it. We really got into the spirit of the event and bought those giant foam hand you see on TV. Adult tickets were £15 and the kids cost £9 each so it's not a cheap night out but absolutely worth it for a birthday treat.

They play their home games in the Odyssey Arena in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast, and I have to say we had a great experience. The great thing about it is how well it's organised. Tip-top professional. It's a real "event", a spectacle only North American sports teams can pull off. There is a great atmosphere entering the stadium with many fans having drinks in the sports bar Rockies which is part of the Odyssey Arena complex. Then comes everything from the mascot "Finn McCool" getting the crowd going to a very patriotic entrance video for the team to the game itself. The game is fast-paced and action packed. In between stoppages there is everything from pizza-eating competitions to free t-shirt and subway sandwich give-aways. The event is very family orientated and a lot of fun. If you have anyone who is American/Canadian or who has lived there that misses a slice of Americana this will be right up your street. There is also a wonderful feeling of the team giving something to the community. There are a lot of charities associated with the team and the players are only happy to sign autographs and meet the fans afterwards. A real treat!!

The ground used to play host to the Ulster championship final however in recent years this has been awarded to St Tiernach's Park in Clones and Croke Park in Dublin. The GAA season runs from January to September so during the Winter months this park is deserted and not used. As with most GAA parks there is very little parking facilities so patrons should expect to park and walk for half an hour to get there. This may not seem that far but when your returning to your car in the Belfast sunshine (rain) after your team has just being throttled it's a damn long walk. In comparison to other GAA pitches this is one of the best in N. Ireland and with recently added floodlights it really looks the part. However in my opinion this ground could be put to better use such as concerts etc like Croke Park in order to get use out of it the whole year round.

This isn't stadium football, and all the better for ityou can hear everything the fans and players are saying to each other in an atmosphere which is miles from the santitised experience to be found at larger clubs. While the main bar in the social club is a fairly standard social club-type of bar, it is a cheap and safe alernative to the very poor choice of town centre bars in Ballyclare. The function room is probably one of the best of its type around as it is relaxed, cheap and gives a perfect atmosphere for a function or fundraiser.
