Despite talking a lot about the curriculum, Oak Grove really just provides babysitting services. They will show you the binders of curriculum and that it's posted outside the classroom door. But curriculum is only as good as how well its implemented. There was little education or development during our time there. The staff at Oak Grove is babysitting, not educating. The large classrooms look fantastic, until you realize how many kids they have in a classroom. They will tell you that they meet state requirements for teacher/student ratios, but just because you CAN have so many kids in a classroom doesn't mean that you SHOULD. Classrooms are chaotic and teachers are overwhelmed. There were a number of other issues during our time with Oak Grove, but the overall issue is that you can get better for your money. Oak Grove may seem cheaper at first, but other daycares include extracurriculars in the tuition that Oak Grove charges extra for. By the time you include the cost of extracurriculars, Oak Grove is not cheaper. Also, Oak Grove had parents provide food and supplies for holiday parties, but at our new school all holiday parties, egg hunts, etc are funded by the school. So much more convenient for the parents! We regret the time we wasted at Oak Grove and are so much happier with our new school. ------------------------- Note about the response from the school: Again, they quotes ratios. Be sure to ask how many kids total are in the class and how many of the adults in the class are true teachers versus helpers/assistants. I know that at one point there were almost 30 kids in my child's class. That is simply too many toddlers in a room. That said, considering the number of families who unenrolled their kids this year, the ratios probably have improved... but not for the right reasons. Also said in the initial review, the leadership talks a lot about the curriculum... but the curriculum is only as good as how well it's implemented. Lastly, why on earth would the owner want to contact me months after we have left other than to attempt to improve my review? If they were truly concerned, they would have worked on improving the situation before we and other families chose to leave.

She is amazed by the level of education here and the intellect level of these kids. Most of the kids are able to leave and enter kindergarten reading and writing on a 2nd grade level. We drive 35-45 minutes each day (and anyone who knows about GA traffic knows that's no small thing), but it is absolutely worth it. From the administrative team to the teachers--and even staff from other classrooms--the level of care and love shown to the children is phenomenal. As a first-time mom, I am so grateful to have found a school like this. My son is in the Transition class (three-year-olds), and his teacher, Ms. Taylor, is nothing short of amazing. She is sweet, kind, patient, and incredibly attentive. You can genuinely feel how much she loves and cares for my son every time I drop him off and pick him up. She is always communicative, open to suggestions, and consistently offers thoughtful feedback and guidance. It truly feels like we are part of a village, working together as a team. The warmth extends far beyond the classroom. Ms. Vicky, Ms. Pam, and Ms. Doris are all incredibly kind, nurturing, and loving. They greet my son with so much care each day, and it speaks volumes that every morning he stops to give everyone a hug. That alone tells me how safe, loved, and comfortable he feels at school. There are also days when I come to pick him up and he doesn't want to leave and that says everything. Knowing that my child is happy, engaged, and genuinely enjoys being there brings me so much peace as a parent. The hospitality from the administrative staff each morning and afternoon is just as incredible. Ms. Erica brings such positive, welcoming energy that it honestly makes you want to stay a little longer after drop-off. Ms. Hope is a director who truly leads by example--she isn't hidden away in an office. She is present, visible, engaging with parents, walking through classrooms, and supporting staff hands-on. You can see her involvement daily, not just during meetings or special moments. What truly sets CLA Milton apart is the openness and communication. Any time there is a concern, everyone is willing to have conversations and address things head-on. It is such a family-oriented environment, and that level of support is priceless. This review honestly doesn't even do the school justice. It's something you truly have to experience. I am so grateful that I stumbled upon CLA Milton, and I cannot wait for our family to continue growing here for years to come. Family, if you're looking for a school, this is it. Schedule a visit and you'll be so happy you did. It's truly one of the best decisions you can make for your child. - Hall & Fall Family

I approached his teacher, Ms. Patty, and asked to speak with her in regards to this matter. Once I told Ms. Patty what my son had told me she instantly became very defensive. She immediately came to the other child's defense and straight out accused my son of lying. I asked her how they handle altercations between children and her response was "typically we would speak to both students and their parents BUT it didn't happen." After several minutes of being accused of lying I decided to leave with my son. Not only did this upset my son but it also tainted the image I had portrayed of how teachers are supposed to be. Supportive, friendly and trustworthy. Our experience with Ms. Patty was none of the above. To make matters worse, minutes after leaving the facility I received an extremely aggressive email from the director, Julie. She did not ask me any questions about the conversation that took place. Instead, she came to Ms. Patty's defense and threatened to kick my son out. Given the experience we had on our son's first day, my husband and I agreed we were not comfortable leaving our son in their care. Leaving us no choice, we removed our son from this preschool. We let the director know our decision and requested a full refund. We were only given a PARTIAL refund and were still charged fees. Nothing was explained to us and no further contact was made by the school. I made the mistake of assuming this preschool was a warm, inviting environment due to it being linked to a church. I was sadly mistaken. Patty was extremely bias and made my child feel embarrassed, unheard and unworthy. Julie, the director, turned around and did the same to me.

As a teacher myself, I appreciate the emphasis they put on education, as he has learned more than I could have ever imagined. A few other things to note is their top notch communication efforts. We are always in the know about every thing! As well as the diversity, which can be hard to find in this area. I love that my son gets to celebrate our traditions while also learning about cultures different than his. Lastly, my son is HIGH ENERGY and can be a lot at times. The entire staff at Goddard has never once made us feel like he is a burden, in fact quite the opposite. They have always welcomed his energy with open arms and big smiles, which is huge for me! I explained to Goddard management that the other school was 5 min from my house, less expensive, and most importantly had a 5 day spot available. I asked if I could at least get some of my money back given the circumstances. They refused to give me back ANY of the $1700 deposit despite the fact that they only had it for less than 48 business hours. My child never even visited the school. They claimed that I could have taken a spot from someone else. I paid them Thursday afternoon and informed them Monday morning about my change of plans. If someone visited Friday who wanted that spot, am I really supposed to believe they couldn't have contacted them immediately on Monday to let them know about an opening? I reached out again and was told they never filled the spot. So if you couldn't fill that spot anyway, why couldn't I get even half of my money back? It's not like we took someone else's spot (according to them anyway). The school we ended up joining didn't require any deposit to secure my spot, and the owner purposely enrolls less students than the GA requirement to provide a better and more nurturing environment. My son has about 13 kids in his class vs. the 20+ children in the Goddard class. It's clear that the owner is all about money and posting on social media. I am so happy we found a better place for my child.
