The classes were overcrowded and they were unable to retain staff due in large part to their poor management. My child was enrolled in private pre-k (smaller ratio class and more perks/education than Georgia pre-k) but it was brought to my attention, by current and former employees, that the private pre-k teacher also had to consistently watch preschoolers in her class due to understaffed rooms. They consistently overcharged and I had to communicate the error each time. The field trips for students were not geared toward educational value. The consensus and reputation this facility held (by parents and current/former staff) is that new enrollment is their top priority, not the well-being of currently enrolled students. They will not move your child to the next level (when they reach the correct age to move up) unless you harass them to do so. I have witnessed staff yell harshly at children (at various times of drop off and pick up) and be stingy with school material (e.g. coloring pages, snacks, etc.). My children are enrolled in a new child care center and are thriving; learning more than they did at Kids R Kids. I am amazed by the happy staff who greet me whenever they see me, and the eager teachers who want to tell me about my child's daily progress. I never received this interaction at Kids R Kids (Cumming). I had to initiate communication with staff and consistently ask about their progress... I hate to post such a negative post about a childcare but I think it's important people are aware of this facility and not be blinded by how nice and modern the facility looks, as those were two things that won me over; I wish I had heard about people's experience before I enrolled my children at Kids R Kids (Cumming).

They are sweet and efficient but have no idea how to deal with less than perfect kids. We put our 4 yr old kiddo in this preschool this year, hoping for a chance at some normalcy for this child who had already been through 9 surgeries, several of them open heart. Kiddo has been by all means a miracle child and has absolutely been through it. We discussed in depth with doctors, therapists, etc before making the decision to send him to school as the right decision. However, as expected, kiddo got sick a bit more than the other kids as kiddos immune system isn't as strong. They have strict sick policy, which we respect and understand. At the end of October, we have our first conference. Nothing is mentioned except an issue with answering to kiddos name and acknowledging direction. Nothing new. Nothing mentioned about "educational value." Fast forward to several weeks before Thanksgiving and sickness is going around. The normal kids are recovering in days, it' takes our kiddo a week to consider sending him back. We try it, and end up having to come get kiddo. We are asked to keep kiddo home until the cough is completely gone. We finally send kiddo back after Thanksgiving and 3 school days later, these people have the audacity to message and say kiddo is not getting " any educational value" and would like us to remove kiddo from class. Zero mention of this at the conference. Zero in the hundreds of messages they send weekly. They find a way to say "we can't handle your kiddo , even though we said we could" They even tried to tell us how we should be parenting and thought we should "consider therapy." Do you not listen? Doctors and therapists are who we consulted with to decide to send him to preschool!! Also, it's your job to GIVE every child the educational value. Something every educator in your preschool should be able to do. Educational value is all on the teacher ‍‍We were thinking about sending our 2 year old next year. But thanks for saving us money and showing how bottom of the barrel your preschool is! Why did you say you would take kiddo on when we disclosed from the very first time we contacted your school that he had some health challenges. Why Lie?!?! Stay away from this scam of a preschool. My son was anxious and emotional about starting school, and both Ms. Brandy (the director) and Ms. Stephanie (the assistant director) went above and beyond to help him adjust. There were days they literally had to coax him out of the car -- with patience, kindness, and so much heart. Their compassion meant the world to us. Fast forward to today, and now he can't wait to go to school! He runs inside every morning with a huge smile, and before leaving each day, he insists on hugging all his teachers and friends, that's how much he loves being there. Every teacher and staff member radiates warmth, positivity, and genuine care. You can tell they love what they do. They've created an environment where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated, and that energy extends to parents, too. Even on my busiest mornings, I leave feeling lighter and happier after interacting with the staff. Their kindness is truly contagious. My son is thriving -- learning new things, building confidence, and making wonderful friends. But beyond that, I've found something I never expected: a real sense of community. I was thinking about things I like so that I can review them, because I want to get my Yelp count higher. Even though I have not had my kids at AIA for a couple of years, this school is one of the first things I thought of. I had two children in this school. The older one attended from K through 5. When she graduated, I had to take the younger one over to their new school as well, because it is impractical for me to have them in two different locations. We only left for logistical reasons. We love this school. I wish I was wealthy so that I could invest in this school and help them expand. Okay, now on to the meat of the review. This school attracts kids from several different cultures. They have very committed teachers. Their founder, Dixie, is one of the kindest people I have ever met. They use Montessori methods, but they are not afraid to adapt their system to meet the needs of each child. My older child learned to read and write better than some of my fellow graduate students! I credit this school for that. I will name a few of the awesome teachers they have (or have had), but I am sure the others are great as well: Mrs. Turner, Mrs. McDaniel, Mrs. Littlewood, and Mrs. Narayan. If you want a well-designed adaptive Montessori program for your kids - that teaches excellent life skills as well - this is the place to bring them. This school does have a Christian affiliation, which would have normally made me wary because we are UUs, not Christian. However, as is appropriate for an international school, religious participation is voluntary. The school had children from families that are Christian, Jewish, UU, Hindu, and Muslim (and probably others). It seemed that none of them experienced religious conflict. So, if you want to teach religious tolerance to your kids, this is a great place.

Unfortunately, there was none. The saving grace for us was my son's teachers, Mr. Rao and Mrs. Joshi. They were wonderful and we genuinely appreciated them. Beyond that, I was never particularly impressed with the administration or the overall experience. For a school that positions itself as a premier institution and has so many positive accolades, our experience was very different. To us, it felt like a pretty average/subpar school packaged and marketed as something much more. If you are considering AIA, just make sure you read every line of what you sign. Don't assume there will be any flexibility or understanding even when circumstances change within a matter of days.

Disparaging comments were made by her teacher to me and around my daughter about autistic students in her class. The school is run by a company called Endeavor that is based out of Florida and is money grab. I reached out to them with my concerns and was given the runaround. Several other parents at the school have banded together and will not be returning. We all reached out about concerns with no changes being made by the administration. My daughter was bullied NUMEROUS times-even physically assaulted- and it took extreme action on my part to get the bully removed from the school. Bathrooms that don't fully function for most of the year, only having hot running water and no cold water in some area...the list of issues with the school and staff goes on and on.

They are an extension of our family... and I would trust ANY of their staff with either of my children at ANY time. My children have grown up in this facility... and the quality of our children's character is due, in part, to the guidance and love they've received from the staff at Discovery Point. Despite talking a lot about the curriculum, Oak Grove really just provides babysitting services. They will show you the binders of curriculum and that it's posted outside the classroom door. But curriculum is only as good as how well its implemented. There was little education or development during our time there. The staff at Oak Grove is babysitting, not educating. The large classrooms look fantastic, until you realize how many kids they have in a classroom. They will tell you that they meet state requirements for teacher/student ratios, but just because you CAN have so many kids in a classroom doesn't mean that you SHOULD. Classrooms are chaotic and teachers are overwhelmed. There were a number of other issues during our time with Oak Grove, but the overall issue is that you can get better for your money. Oak Grove may seem cheaper at first, but other daycares include extracurriculars in the tuition that Oak Grove charges extra for. By the time you include the cost of extracurriculars, Oak Grove is not cheaper. Also, Oak Grove had parents provide food and supplies for holiday parties, but at our new school all holiday parties, egg hunts, etc are funded by the school. So much more convenient for the parents! We regret the time we wasted at Oak Grove and are so much happier with our new school. ------------------------- Note about the response from the school: Again, they quotes ratios. Be sure to ask how many kids total are in the class and how many of the adults in the class are true teachers versus helpers/assistants. I know that at one point there were almost 30 kids in my child's class. That is simply too many toddlers in a room. That said, considering the number of families who unenrolled their kids this year, the ratios probably have improved... but not for the right reasons. Also said in the initial review, the leadership talks a lot about the curriculum... but the curriculum is only as good as how well it's implemented. Lastly, why on earth would the owner want to contact me months after we have left other than to attempt to improve my review? If they were truly concerned, they would have worked on improving the situation before we and other families chose to leave.
