I started Carrington with the Medical Assisting program, the beginning of this year. I must say that I have had nothing but an amazing experience here. Starting from the beginning with talking with a rep about starting school, to talking with the financial aid advisor, etc. Before starting school everyone I have came across has been so helpful and it made me feel like my decision to pursue my education at Carrington was the best decision I have made! And once I started, my classmates have been so helpful with everything and we all encourage each other to do our best! And that's what you need when going to school! As for my instructor, Mrs. Ritter, she is such an amazing instructor. She cares about her students and their education. Along with Mrs. Ritter, during my 4th term Mrs. Guirguis came to teach and she is also an amazing instructor. Both instructors are overall amazing and I'm so glad that I have them as my instructors. As I'm writing this, I am finishing up my last few weeks here and then I will be off to externship. Being a Wife, mother, working part time and getting enrolled in school is not easy although I'm so happy with my decision to better my education.My First day was a scare coming back to school then after meeting my teacher Ms Ritter & Ms Guirguis (amazing teachers) and all my classmates (Amazing group of girls ) made it so much easier knowing We all had the same goals And determination to succeed our goals . Stay away from this so called "college". The people who run this school are truly only in it for the money. I had gone to this school for merely 4 weeks for the dental assisting program, and now owe $3,000, with nothing to show for it. The credits don't transfer anywhere, the staff is rude, and I didn't feel that my counselor was helping me at all. It felt more like he was trying to sell me something than offer his "help". The students who I had class with are also struggling to find jobs. If they do end up coming across a job, most of them start off making about $10/hour. I make $10/hour working retail (which I had not gone to school for). This place is a pathetic excuse for a school. I started here 3/1/2021 & Shortly after I was hospitalized for quite some time (3/5/21), I was keeping my Teacher informed on my situation & all she was worried about was if I could do my homework! Never Once showed any empathy towards my health status.... Fast forward to 3/15/2021 I was still hospitalized and informed the school I would be Dropping the class because due to my health I could no longer participate. OH BOY DID THAT RUFFLE SOME FEATHERS! I was a student at the Carrington campus for the Veterinary Technology program and it was the biggest waste of my time and money. My teacher had absolutely no experience teaching a class, we had a new doctor every 4 months, the other teachers in the program would bully students and were very disrespectful of our class time, time that you pay as a student to be there. Several times students would go and address their concerns to the dean of the school to no avail. Our concerns were completely swept under the rug by the dean, our head of the department, and our teachers. I would never recommend this school to anyone and would advise anyone considering taking this class to ask to sit in with a class and talk to students to get feed back. I'm honestly going to miss this place! My teachers (Mrs. Ritter, Ms. Guirgus) we're so helpful! I think a lot of people took the help for granted, but their commitment to teaching the curriculum correctly shows! A lot of the reviews on here are honestly not a great reflection of this school. Carrington College is a great school for students who are committed and don't mind doing the hard work. I am in Surgical Tech program with a start date 11/14/2017. So far I am happy with the instructor and the new materials/techniques I am learning. This program is awesome because it allows me to maintain my full-time job (8-5 pm). I attend night courses from 6-10:30 with Mr. Howard A. He is fun, knowledgeable and experienced Tech/instructor who currently works as Surgical Technologist. I love this school and my guess is that everyone who put a bad review about them stealing money just didn't work hard enough to get the knowledge needed. I am still in my first term but have already had TWO job offers because of the amazing team and learning experience I am getting from carrington. Career services is amazing and super helpful, the resource center is awesome and Mr. Ramos is the bomb! He can help you with just about anything and does it quickly. It is a lot of money when you see it all at once, but it is the same you would pay at any other school for the same program. I went to Carrington in 2017 for my Medical Assistant certificate and I absolutely loved it. My teacher Mrs. McCliss was wonderful, staff was very helpful, free tutoring and library to study, big lab to complete everything in. Career services sets you up to do mock interviews so you can be interview ready, helps create your resume, and sets your externship up for you. The only thing I did not like so much was they don't give you your externship site until right before you go, which is kinda difficult with having a job while in school. Other than that I really enjoyed everyone and what I have learned from there. Some people ask "will I get a job" after being done, and you HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK TO GET ONE, just like any other job. Some people get hired from there externship and that's great, if not, like any other job, you have to apply and put the effort into finding a job. Good luck to anyone going to school for MA! I can't believe these schools are still legal. With the exception of the externship, I had finished the coursework, I was number one in my class, I had finished all the course work (the last two weeks were just reviews) and finished practicals early with only the final exam left to take. And then I got chicken pox and missed the last two weeks because in my educated opinion, (I use the term "educated" loosely) coming to school (again, using the term loosely) with a highly communicable illness was wrong. When I called to make arrangements to take the final I was told I would have to repeat and pay for another term because I missed too much. When I said I understood but I had already finished the program with the only exception being the final exam, they wouldn't work with me. I went in in person to meet with the head person and I left crying knowing I all the work and money I had already invested was a waste because I did not have the money to pay for another session. Telling someone who had worked so, so, so hard she was simply out of luck unless they took out an additional loan, is not only heartless but also immoral. Again, I cannot believe these schools are still legal. They only care about taking your money for a subpar education that will leave you with a minimum wage job. I look forward to seeing their response because it will mean nothing, just words. To truly make things right would be to give me and all the other hopeful, naive, suckers our money back. read more

I am about to start my medical assistant program and I have to admit. Admissions did a great job at making sure I enroll prepared, they definitely are not messing around. They wouldn't even let me start unless I had all vaccinations, signed agreements to be on time and not miss class! They were excellent. People who are complaining are seriously talking alot about money. How did they perform academically? Be careful when you see these bad review rants. I see alot of issues already with the way these girls are conducting themselves. Yes we live in times of greed. You need to come to school prepared and ready to learn. If your to lazy and bored to read your text books on the ipad included with your tuition. Thats not the schools fault. If you are messing up your academics, thats not anyones fault but your own. I am currently in the Vet Tech program at the Citrus Heights campus. I would NEVER refer anyone to this school. This school is a complete joke, the teachers have lied to us and don't think anything of it. A student had to leave the program because they lied to us & they see no problem with it. She also can't use her fasfa at another school because Carrington is still using her fasfa even though she has been out of the program for almost a year now. They never keep the students informed about anything, they treat us like we are in grade school. This school is way too expensive for the way they treat us. They tell one student something and then when another student has the same issue or something similar it doesn't exist or they don't do that anymore. All the students talk and express their experiences and then when a student goes & talks to a teacher about something nope that isn't true the teacher says when we know they have done it for another student. They even took away our breaks between terms, after 2 terms they are giving it back but who knows if that will continue. Their policies are bogus, they are always changing things on you. God forbid you are sick, you CANNOT turn in any late hw or make up a test without a Dr note. Like we go to the dr for every cold or simple sickness we get. I get food poisoning i am not going to go to my Dr for a damn dr note. My friend's mom was extremely sick & in the hospital and they wouldn't let her turn in late hw or make up any tests. Her mom could've died & they don't care. They actually encourage you NOT to work even though you still need to pay the rest of your tuition, pay your bills, & gas for school. No you will NOT see any of your fasfa and your credits do not transfer. They act like they are there for you and will work with you but if you have a personal a life crisis they honestly only care of the money they are getting from you. It's pretty sad that at U.C. Davis, one of the best schools in the country you can still graduate if you have a lot of absences but turn in all your hw & pass all of your tests. Carrington's excuse is they're preparing you for clinic life...umm I've had a job before I know how important showing up to work is. You only get hands on training once from them & they tell you to learn the rest at rotations which is once a week for 4 hrs. Some students get sent to shitty clinics and don't learn anything. How is that fair? Legit the only good thing that came out of going to this school is the people i have met & the clinic I now work at because i got sent there for one of my rotations. The surgical technology program at this school is a huge rip off. The teacher who the school has lecturing a majority of the classes in this program has zero teaching experience and it shows. He is unprofessional, cusses and makes fun of the students behind there backs. He likes to talk down to students and shows no real care in there education. Things you are promised about the program are not delievered and when you ask about them they give a list of excuses. They ask a lot from each student in this program but the teacher dosn't give more than 10%. Every student is a dollar sign. I read many really bad reviews prior to enrollment and decided I would give them the benefit of the doubt and find out for myself. I thought, the students who left bad reviews were probably bad students, well just so you know I am not and I put 100% into this program and have really good grades. My class as a whole was lectured many times on one persons mistakes and treated like we were bad people. It really upset me how this teacher runs his class, there is zero respect. There are many schools in this area that are worth the large price tag but this school is not. The last 2 classes that were suppose to go on there externships, some students had to wait many many months.The group who finished the education portion of the program this last july , more then half of them are still waiting on there externships two and a half months later, while another class is set to finish the education portion in novemeber and be ready to go out as well. I had high hopes from this school and was looking forward of exploring more of the LVN to RN program offered by Sacramento CA. This school was highly recommended by one of my good friend hence why I did not even hesitate. I attended their info session and ended up taking two classes to complete the rest of my prerequisites. Spent $2800 cash to complete the general courses. After completing everything I emailed Toni Anderson (Master Enrollment Service Representative) for the evaluation of my transcript and to inquire about the next coming cohort that is suppose to start April 2021. I am a 4.0 candidate with 7 years experience as an LVN. Out of 6 emails I have sent. She only responded into 1 stating that my transcript is being evaluated. I tried multiple attempt, phone calls and received no response from this so called "master enrollment service representative" . Overall my experience with this school is ruined by this Toni Anderson. If I can give NO star , I would. I am glad that I did not just rely on this school or else I will be waiting for nothing. I eventually got accepted to a BSN program starting in Fall 2021 and honestly glad because I don't think I can ever deal with that person again. A piece of advice to this school. I qualified for 7,000 dollars worth of grants so I would only have a 12,000 school loan unfortunately they want me to pay them 1,279 dollars to start school on Monday. I told them I didn't have that money out of pocket and they said well you can apply for a personal loan and that loan has 12% interest rate. I told them there is no way in hell I'm doing that when I don't have a job to pay on it and I'm not about to fuck my credit up then the lady starts attacking me and looks at my hands and asks me "well how can you afford to get your nails done every month?" I then snapped at her and said "that's none of your business" she then looked at my daughters jeans and said "your daughter is wearing sevens jeans those jeans cost 150 dollars" which tells me they pay attention to what you have I told her what she's doing is unprofessional and I won't be attending this school. Stay away from this school I wasn't ever a student and I'm glad I wasn't. Go to a junior college don't fuck with this school. They're money hungry people. read more

I attended the dental assitant program in 2010. During my 9 month course, I found the school to be only about the money. They say you have to pass an entrance exam, yet they will pass anyone just to get the money. The curriculum was out of date, and the head staff (not instructors) did not treat the instructors or students with respect. They claim they will provide "Job placement assistance". Their idea of assistance? Printing out help wanted ads from Craigslist and handing them to the students. I would think in this day and age, most everyone knows how to look through help wanted ads. Trying to find an externship is not easy, and while the school states they will help you find a location, again, they do no such thing. In fact, one of my peers who graduated prior to me was unable to get into an externship before classes ended, as nobody was willing to help her get placed. After I completed my externship, I was unable to find work. It is funny, prior to beginning the course, we were told dental assistants should make, at minimum, $15.00/hour to START. Interesting fact... come to find out, new graduates are lucky to make minimum wage, MAYBE $10.00/hour IF you are lucky. You can make more money with better benefits working at In and Out burger. Pretty sad considering you will have a large student loan to pay off once you hit that post graduate 6 month marker. We were also told that Carrington (at the time it was still Western Career College) was far more desireable an educational facility than any of the others out there as far as employers were concerned. Come to find out, again, this is a lie. Do not fall into their trap of "This is the best institution you can graduate from, as employers are more likely to hire someone who graduated from OUR institution than any other learning institution." To reiterate how low this facility is... it is a medical learning facility, yet the restrooms never had toilet paper, SOAP, or paper towels available. The bathrooms were filthy. How do you expect sanitary conditions without supplies to properly clean your hands with? It is now 2012, and I have yet to obtain a job in the field of dental assisting. I have since moved out of state and am pursuing a higher education through the university here. Luckily my credits with Carrington carried over to complete my electives for my BS, but all that time and money wasted, when I could have applied myself in a legitimate learning institution that has merit. GO ELSEWHERE if you want an education. All for-profit centers are just that; for profit. While it will take you longer to complete, you are FAR BETTER OFF attending Sacramento City College or an ROP program. Never accept Carrington's theory that employers will not hire someone from an ROP program. In fact, the other two dental assistants I know graduated from ROP, and had a job within 3 months of completion of their studies. It does not matter where you go, so long as you get an up to date and accurate education, and it prepares you for your State exams. SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY AND DISAPPOINTMENT! read more

I attended the course for dental assisting. My first few courses went smoothly. Towards the end of the program, the class grew from about 12 students my first course, to 18. It might not seem like much, but in the lab where our class took place 99% of the time, there were only four operatories, and not enough equipment for everyone. It was a crowded every class, and a free for all for both the equipment and the instructor's attention. I did not feel that I nor anyone else during that time got their money's worth for personal one on one time. The instructors very obviously were overwhelmed with how many people they needed to test while staying on schedule. There is no way you can grade that many students' accurately in the time they were given. Not to mention, the financial advisers are constantly calling people out of class for money. My classmate I graduated with was told the day before she was to start her extern that she owed more than $1400 and was not allowed to start her extern until that was paid off. Why they waited until the day before to tell her that, neither of us could figure out. This same student was neglected by the instructors, constantly getting the short end of the stick when it came to lab practicals and demonstrations. If you aren't good at teaching yourself the material, you won't like this school. read more

Instructors and Doctors would quit all the time and the instructors were horribly rude. I was told I should drop out of the program due to being a single mom and statistically single parents don't graduate . Wow! The financial aid adviser also told me that I would start making $22 hourly. What a joke. I've been a veterinary assistant for 3 years and only make $12 hourly. Why would I go to school to spend $22,000 on my education when it wasn't worth what I'm making or will ever be making now? My bad I quess. This is long time overdue but feel I should post as thorough of a review as possible for potential students... PLEASE READ!!!! I started the Medical Assisting program in the fall of 2013 and completed the program in spring 2014. I was a 4.0 student the entire time, and also a student mentor. The first half of the program seemed relatively organized and I felt that my instructor was well qualified. She was great at teaching and seemed to be quite knowledgeable. About 3/4 of the way through my program however my instructor had to take a leave of absence. That's when things pretty much crumbled and I saw the school in a completely different light. Within a 2 month time frame my instructor was gone, and the director of the Medical Assisting program had quit because quite frankly she was a joke so good riddance. We went through multiple subs and were often thrown into the computer lab and given irrelevant projects. Being less than 3 months away from my externship at that point and taking my $16,000+ education seriously, I became super frustrated. I spoke with the dean on multiple occasions voicing my concerns and she just apologized and basically had no idea what was going on. Career services was/is a joke as far as I am concerned so PLEASE RESEARCH YOUR OWN EXTERNSHIP SITES. If you find your own and arrange it, it can be done. The girls in that department are very snide and condescending. I feel it is funny that they are there to teach you skills in professionalism however have little to none. I am in no way trying to bash them but their attitudes were very poor. SIDENOTE: get current on your vaccines as early as possible!!!! They fail to mention that part to you, and it is beneficial with finding externship sites especially at major hospitals. Needless to say, I graduated my program and found an externship site quickly. NOW THIS IS WHERE IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE GUYS SO LISTEN; Bust your butt at your externship site!!! Ask questions. As many as you can. Show up 10 minutes early and stay late if you can. Trust me, it sucks working for free but it can pay off if you take it seriously. I am now currently coming up to my 1 year mark of when I started my externship. I keep hearing these stories of how no one can find a job and quite frankly, I don't understand?! Not only was I offered a job from my externship site, I am now their MA supervisor and referral coordinator at one of their locations. I am paid well with full benefits, PTO and sick leave. Am I lucky, maybe? But I truly believe that you can make everything happen for yourself. Don't blame the school and don't blame the teacher's. It is what it is and you'll run into that crap no matter where you go. Was Carrington an amazing school? No. Not whatsoever. I gave it 2 stars because it did teach me the fundamentals of Medical Assisting and I did really enjoy my teacher when I had her. Is it possible to create a career with what they give you?Yes. Of course this is only a review on the MA program and it is based off of a program I left almost a year ago. It's possible they got back on the ball and things are running more smoothly. I don't understand all of the negative reviews. Maybe those students have had different instructors, but I have been very impressed with CCC. I am a very educated parent of a student who has struggled in school all his life due to learning disabilities. The school has gone above and beyond to help him be successful. The instructors have maintained excellent communication with him and with me regarding his progress. They have given extra time to help him succeed. I have spoken with the dean on several occasions, and she has been extremely supportive, helpful, and open to working with my son and creating a success plan for him. The professionalism of everyone he has worked with - from the receptionist to the financial aid staff to instructors to the dean - has been nothing short of amazing. He has been a student for several months now, and he already has had multiple offers for externships and even employment once he receives his certification. Everyday he comes home and tells me about what he's learned. He's learned so much in a short amount of time. I was leery at first because I've heard negative things about many vocational schools (I'm a grad of a major university), but quickly realized that they are dedicated to helping their students succeed and aren't just money-grabbing, as some on Yelp have asserted. I encourage people considering attending CCC visit the school and see for themselves before passing judgment. We had shopped around before enrolling him there, but I'm very glad he choose to enroll at CCC. Even though the credits don't transfer, the experience he is acquiring will prove invaluable should he choose to pursue a degree in the same field. read more

A lot of the reviews on here are about other programs and I can't speak on their behalf but I will for the Dental Assisting Program. This program is the best. I love it and I've had no issues here. Sure, the school is expensive but so is everywhere else and you are learning everything in a quickly manner. I am on my last term at the school and have had no issues during my 8 months of being here. If you dedicate yourself to your work and do the assignments and pay attention then you shouldn't have a problem. The people that slack off and don't take it seriously are the ones that are leaving the 1 star reviews. I have the best teachers (Mrs. Stuckey, Mr. Pach, Mrs. Aziz) and they have given me all the materials and information I need to be successful at this school. Honestly I should have read all the reviews before I even started this school. That's all I can say for all the students starting this school please look at all the bad reviews and rethink going here. This school really does think about taking your money and that's it they do not care about their students at all! Especially the teachers they only have favorites and if you don't fall into their list then you are out of luck. Nothing can be done about it because that's just how it is, but if you read all the reviews that's a start. This school is horrible and nobody cares about you here. I went to this school and I had to redo a lecture course because of my absence which is total bullshit because I did all my work, and my teacher told me she's dropping me a letter grade one day before the course ended knowing if she did that it would set me back a while and she did not give one fuck all she wanted was that paycheck. read more

Carrington College is a scam! I attended their Surgical Tech program and finished the class room portion in November 2011, I have been waiting 6 months to be placed for an externship as well as 11 other students at this time. Our class was supposed to graduate at the end of March but due to the lack of support and initiative we are still waiting. At the beginning of the classroom portion we were advised that the higher your grade is the better and easier it is to be placed for extern. I finished with a 97.5 percentage and on the deans list and still waiting. Now my financial aid is due even though I'm still enrolled and not getting any support from the school. I would never recommend anyone to attend this school let alone give their hard earned money to this SCAM. I am also advising the VA as I am a veteran and the school was even happier that I am a veteran as it is easier for them to get money from the government. STAY AWAY FROM CARRINGTON COLLEGE!! read more
