While there were -some- staff that needed a little extra training (I can't remember their names) I can confidently say that my stay there left me better than when I went in. I see a lot of negative reviews, and all I can say is, don't check in here and expect a 3-5 day stay. prepare for 10 days, as that is standard. Other than that, anytime I had an issue with another patient, my medication, or if I was in pain, it was PROMPTLY handled right then and there. I was treated with the upmost dignity and respect by all staff and nurses. I even had fun banter with most of the techs and therapists I had! I went in very reclusive and a bit scared, and by day 3, I was a pro and laughing and socializing as normal. I felt good and cared for. Nurse Chris, Nurse Constance, Tech Javier, Tech Sara and Tech Henry (Trey) were my all time favs and made my stay warm, welcome, and they treated me like a human being, not just a patient. Therapists Brittany, Jordan, and Nitin changed my life for the better in more ways then one. I can't thank them enough. and Dr. Khan heard my concerns and prescribed me medications that WORK with me and my lifestyle. (wells unit was the best!) My only gripe is the discharge. I feel as though they need to make absolutely SURE that the doctor you are going to see for outpatient has made an appointment for you before you are discharged, because the doctor I was going to see through them wasn't taking anymore new patients! :( Other then that, while I hope I never see them again (haha) I wish them all the best and I owe them a ton! I wanted to share my experience with Carrollton Springs regarding practicum/internship opportunities. Unfortunately, my interactions with Helen P., who oversees intern and practicum placement communication, were extremely disappointing. Over the course of several weeks, I made multiple attempts to follow up through email, phone calls, and voicemails regarding placement information and next steps. While I understand people can become busy, the level of communication I experienced felt unprofessional and dismissive from a prospective intern's perspective. On one occasion, Helen P. briefly answered my call and stated she would respond to my email the following week because then wasn't a good time, but I never received a follow-up. After continued attempts to communicate, I still received little to no response. As someone pursuing clinical training opportunities, I believe professionalism, responsiveness, and clear communication are incredibly important. Unfortunately, this experience did not leave a positive first impression, and based on my experience, I would not recommend Carrollton Springs to prospective interns or practicum students seeking a supportive and communicative placement site. read more

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Collin Springs As a parent with a court order granting me access to my child's medical information, I was repeatedly denied basic communication regarding my daughter's treatment and discharge. My calls were ignored, my questions went unanswered, and it took nearly a week to receive a response to a simple email. This is not just poor service--it raises serious concerns about compliance and patient rights. When I showed up in person, the situation got worse. The front desk staff was rude and dismissive. I asked to speak with a therapist or someone in charge and was told to wait. I sat in the lobby for over an hour, only to find out that staff had left while knowing I was there waiting. That level of avoidance is both unprofessional and concerning. During this process, I also spoke with another parent whose child experienced similar "treatment"--which appeared to consist largely of children sitting in a room for hours with little meaningful engagement. That is not acceptable for a facility entrusted with overnight mental health care for minors. At no point did Collin Springs make any effort to: * Communicate clearly * Include me as a parent * Provide reassurance about my child's care Getting basic information felt like pulling teeth the entire time. What's most telling is that after failing to communicate throughout my child's stay, they had no issue reaching out when it came time for billing. This facility showed a lack of transparency, professionalism, and respect for parental rights. I just checked out - I've been here 12x for different reasons. To be fair, I will list the pros & cons. Pros: some staff - like Nurse Chris, Cheryl, Sarah, Charles. There are staff and doctors that do care, whether you are in for detox, mental health or both. My week went fine until Saturday hit. Cons: weekend staff - mostly the techs. Some techs find it funny when a patient self harms. When I punch a wall, instead of being met with something to make my anger go down, the techs all laughed at me. They have ZERO business being mental health techs at a mental health facility if you LAUGH AND/OR TALK SHIT about patients when you think we can't hear you while we are supposed to be asleep. That's shameful. The nurse practitioner on the weekends? A JOKE. She can't write new meds or mess with controlled substances. She has NO BUSINESS working in a place where you can't do that because I needed a LOT of meds changed on Saturday. And she changed nothing. Wouldn't even let me take magnesium for no reason. She kicked me out of the room when I was doesn't done with my questions and my insurance pays YOU! She went to help other patients and then help me last. She even escorted the patients to lunch bc "they must be hungry it's lunchtime." Am I not a person? Do I not need lunch? It was WORTHLESS talking to her. CS needs actual doctors on the weekends. Saturdays therapist locked me out of group bc she "didn't see me". Patients told me they kept telling her that I was behind the door. Then Sunday rolls around, the same techs are working. They decided to mess with me and put on the Meadows Unit. (There are 4 units). The meadows unit is where the COMPLETE CRAZIES are. You should not put a trauma patient on that unit EVER!!!! There was such loud kicking and screaming and breaking property. Anyway, it was a power trip and it was fucked up but I left the place. "Oh no! What could improve?" Asks Yelp. Improve Carrollton Springs? They could start by not lying to their patients. If you come here for help, be prepared to be held against your will for 10 days, as that is the average insurance will pay, and it really is about the money. They will tell you that you can sign an AMA. Great news! You sure can!! However, that will come with a 24 hour hold where the psychiatrist will already be ready to hit you with a involuntary "protective" court order *before even meeting you* which could take 72 hours to appear in court before a judge. Most people do not want to risk their autonomy and so their fear mongering works. Good for them! This is just what people who are struggling mentally need. If you were traumatized before you arrived, prepare to leave with more trauma! A parting gift along with your heafty bill. What else could this business improve? Communication would be amazing. I don't know if everyone here is just really incompetent or purposely obstructive to people advocating for their loved ones or the prisoners, er, patients themselves inside the facility who just want to know what is going on. No one tells anyone anything, and seemingly, no one knows anything either! Maybe they need more training, but it feels like intentional roadblocks to keep people in the dark as much as possible. Don't bother using their patient advocates, they work for the company, so basically HR for Carrollton Springs. Additionally, be advised they are owned by LifePoint who is owned by Apollo Management Group which is a private equity firm. My advice? Only come here if you are ready for a long stay. We thought this place might help our son but it didn't. He was there for 5 days experiencing a mental break that we think might be bipolar. He saw the psychiatrist for 15 minutes and was prescribed drugs that we questioned. We spoke with a Carrollton police officer and he said that facility and any of the related 'SPRINGS' facilities are just in it for the money and that they get complaints all the time. The therapeutic approach with Jasmine felt cookie cutter and dismissive of my unique history and needs. When I tried to advocate for myself, I was either ignored or gaslighted. The communication between my counselor was inconsistent at best. I felt constantly blindsided, as if decisions about my recovery were being made behind closed doors without my input calling my family members numerous of times while at work asking questions about my personal issues that were already discussed and asked of me at start of program. If I could give Carrollton Springs ZERO stars, I would. This facility, located at 2225 Parker Road in Carrollton, Texas, is not just unethical--it is dangerous. My family's recent experience has been nothing short of traumatic and appalling. Within the first 24 hours, my loved one--who has a documented cardiac history--was denied critical medication. A full day later, the medical doctor finally saw him, but had the WRONG patient photo attached to his chart. Gross negligence! When my loved one requested an ambulance due to chest pain, the "nurse practitioner" (white, obese, blonde with a nasty attitude) threatened him, saying that if he dared to call 911, he would be restrained upon return - promising that he 'will" be returned. That is a direct threat and a blatant violation of patient rights. I called 911 and asked them to take him to UT Southwestern where his cardiologist is. The pissant "NP" told the EMT NOT to take him to UTSW so that he will immediately be returned to Carrollton Springs. She told them to take him to Carrollton Regional instead. Her intent to cause harm turned into a blessing! The Carrollton Regional staff was absolutely stellar. They were just as appalled by the disgusting, unethical, unprofessional and abusive behavior and environment of this place! That pissant of an NP failed to deliver on the tough act she put in front of her incompetent staff. My son was appropriately released and is home. Parents, do NOT give into their empty threats. When they say "it's the law," challenge them and ask what "law" is that. They have no clue. They are talking out of their ass! This facility is crawling with ADA and patient rights violations. Despite having a signed information release, I was repeatedly denied access to my loved one's chart. Phone calls go unanswered, and parents are treated with complete disregard. Even worse, they denied him his legal right to a phone call, falsely claiming he exceeded 15 minutes. A staff member physically snatched the phone out of his hand mid-conversation with me, following that pissant NPs order. Verbal, emotional, and possibly physical abuse are rampant here. It's taken me a long time to recover from this place( couple years). My review is similar to the rest here. 1. I was told they could cater to dietary restrictions on intake. That was a big one. So if you have certain dietary needs or allergies please try anywhere else. 2. You have patients detoxing with patients in mental crisis mixed together. *Also men and women were on the same wing as each other. It's "safe" enough cause we are supposed to leave our doors open. 3. My first week was me being obviously placed in the wrong group therapy because it was focused on addiction recovery and I was in for a mental crisis. 4. I stopped eating much because there was so much cross contamination on the food line that I saw with my own eye...who knows what happens behind the scenes. 5. At some point I signed an AMA to gtfo of there. Once you do that. You lose privileges like going outside or going to the cafeteria with the others. So you're isolated even more so. At some point I was going to be put in front of a judge so I could leave and I had a preconsult of what could happen. Basically threatening my record having a mental health crisis available public should CPS ever be involved with anything near your kids or even your siblings kids. Wow. Next at this point of fighting to get out I told my partner fine I'll just PRETEND for them so I can leave. Stop payments. Tada look who can leave now. Why is mental healthcare here so awful? All the reviews I read about CS truly scared me but I called and spoke to an admission counselor and decided to place my son there. I found them to be very caring and efficient. Of course it's a hard and emotional time for everyone and no one wants to be there but it just has to happen. I will recommend them if you are looking for help. Very surprised when I initially went there with a family member the people where nice. When my family member came back they sat there for 6 hours and then was told there was no beds. My family member is on the streets and was not given an alternate location. When I called at night the lady was rude and I had to ask her repeatedly for a alternate location however they stated it was against HIPPA to tell me if there was any availability as Carrollton springs and then she finally gave me a name of another place. I didn't want to drive a hour to go back to a facility if they didn't have any room. Understand they make it hard for people who really need help and are finally ready. I really wish that I had taken them seriously because now I know first hand that Carrollton springs is like a prison. Once they have you in there it's almost impossible to get out. you have the right to request to leave but their doctor has to say that you're all right to leave. Once you get inside they would not allow you to see family members or anybody else. They did have a 30 minute family visit. No matter what the reason how serious, how important. I  had to file a formal complaint with my insurance and am waiting on my attorney to return my voice message. My daughter is not at all safe in this place! My insurance was horrified! My daughter checked in voluntarily after a suicide attempt. She is fine now and not in any danger to herself or others. She needs to be released, but has been in psychiatric care for a week now! Carrollton Springs "accidentally" gave her somebody else's thyroid meds! She isn't receiving medical care for their accidental overdose of my daughter! She has a heart problem already, and overdosing her on thyroid meds that aren't even prescribed to her can be dangerous. She signed an AMA, and they told her there is an automatic 24 hour hold with an AMA. They confined her to the room and told her to redact her signature or they will get a court order to keep her 2 more weeks. She was scared, so redacted her signature and was told she will be released when they decide. She is kept locked up...cannot even leave on her own free will. My insurance could not believe a place could remain in business while manipulating patients and scaring them into redacting their signature. The 24 hour hold thing was even surprising to them because that is used to evaluate a person who is seriously psychotic, not for a person who attempted suicide a week ago and is no longer even suicidal. This is a scam! She is doing great and not in any danger to herself or others. Carrollton Springs abuses the laws that are meant to protect patients civil rights. My daughter has been in psychiatric care for a week and needs to come home. She went in voluntarily and is now being held hostage by this center. This is disgusting and inhumane. My only option is to drop her from my insurance and/or file a lawsuit. Don't ever allow your loved ones to check in here. Nothing says, "I hate you" like being sent to Carrollton Springs. Patients can only visit with one person the entire stay, and that visit is limited to 30 minutes once a week. This alone is bad for their mental health. Patients should be allowed daily visits from friends and family so they feel loved and supported. You can't call and talk to the patient. You have to leave a message on a recording and hope someone gives it to the patient. You are locked up and not allowed to leave, but never allowed individual therapy or any other similar service. It's just jail for people with anxiety and depression. Punishment. Update- after telling my daughter she might be released today, today came and the doctor is sick and they said the doctor will be sick for at least 2 more days and will not be able to release her. This keeps happening. They keep saying maybe tomorrow and tomorrow comes and they say no and have another reason. Once you check in, you can never leave! read more

My BIGGEST complaint is that I left many voice messages with the unit's nurses station, the therapist department for his unit, and the discharge department to call me over the 14 days my husband's stay. I had one conversation with one therapist a week after he was there. She sounded caring and concerned about his condition and said she wouldn't release him if he couldn't drive. Well, I got a call at 10:30 on the 14th day saying he is being released by his psychiatrist. At 11:06 I received a call from the discharge department who said I would get a call when he is ready and I would have 30 minutes to get there. All unexpected because I had visited my husband on Saturday and he was in a wheelchair and could not carry on a conversation. So, I am waiting and waiting for a call from the nurses yesterday at his unit to tell me he's ready and at 5:30, I took off to the facility. He was in the lobby. He was hallucinating thinking he was in a military base. So, he could not tell me if he had been sitting there since 11:00 or so or not. He's has to use a catheter to urinate and I could tell he had not probably all afternoon. He was swollen from urine retention and that causes mental disturbances that are already in full force from the suboxone. IF someone would have called me back, I would have explained the need for reminding him to catheterize but no one called. I am not exaggerating or being sarcastic. I have never been so disappointed and angry in my life. One edit -- I have to give a shout out to ONE nurse in the Meadows Unit - Ifeatu. My husband had falled and then was taken to the ER because of the fall caused by the suboxone and uring retention. Ifeatu called me and then every time I called the nurses station that day, she answered and was so cheerful, caring and concerned about my husbands well being. If more of the nurses were like Ifeatu, the place would be a much better place to be. Thank you, Ifeatu. Keep up the good work. read more

We went to this facility seeking care for anxiety and panic attacks. We waited over 4 hours to be seen. He was 'evaluated' for 45 minutes. This consisted of someone trying to force us to admit that the patient was suicidal. We maintained that he was not suicidal. They would not release him until he was evaluated by MHMR. Once he was released it still took hours to get out. 9 hours after entering Carrollton Springs we were able to leave. After that whole ordeal they refused to prescribe a treatment. I really loved being here. The staff is amazing but the therapist Anna made a comment during group therapy saying "kids lie about being sexually abused." She does not need to be working around the mentally ill if she's going to be as inconsiderate as she is. She caused 5+ people to spiral, have panic attacks, and self harm from her comment. I recently took a family member to Carrollton Springs. Checking him in took 7 hours. The staff was friendly but there was no one there with any authority to speed the process. We were told that since he was of age and was checking himself in, that he could leave anytime he chose. It appears that when he felt better and was asking to leave, it was an entirely different story. They explained that he could ASK at any time to leave, but if he insisted on signing himself out without their approval, he could not leave until a court decided. I still can't believe that. It feels as if he is being threatened with having to go to court. What a massive breach of trust. He wasn't there for addiction or a danger to anyone else. I would never take anyone there. I have called several times, and on the extremely rare occasion that I spoke with a person, and I mean EXTREMELY, I was told that the doctor would call. He hasn't in nearly 3 days. There has been no communication from them and no explanation for their apparently hidden policy that only can be explained as, once we have you, you're ours. Had I known that, I would have made another choice.I have his authorization to speak with the staff about his care. There is no excuse. I cannot express how terrible I feel for taking my family member to Carrollton Springs. If there is a good reason for him to stay longer, other then running up their bill, then they should inform me of their concerns as well as their patient. Red Alert..Do not go to Carrollton Springs under any circumstances. You'll be sparing yourself from a total nightmare and worse. I got absolutely no help at all only. No personal therapist, no one on one helpful therapy sessions - only about two group what's everybody doing non therapy meetings. Besides that and several other "meetings" not individual sessions there was nothing else to do - especially since they took away all your possessions - purse, cell phone, stuff you wanted to work on, everything. The staff kept a tight reign on me especially since I had to be guarded from escaping this prison - yes you are n a prison and cannot leave under any circumstance........My husband had to be hospitalised any THEY WOULD NOT LET ME LEAVE EVEN TO SEE AND HELP MY HUSBAND N THE HOSPITAL!!!! I saw a doctor for 5-10 minutes and definitely not impressed. My medicine became totally screwed up. I would have been SO much better staying at home.
