I have to say some of the best providers, professionals and service I have ever seen in my 45 years experience of healthcare. The care and service given to the patient was amazing. He could have died. Dr Tang and the nursing team was the best. The CNA 's Maria & John - great care and so compassionate. RN Hannah, Shantell, & Sam omg Thank you best care ever. The ER staff was great but to stressful so did not get all the names. The care for heart issues was amazing. Thank you for saving my Tiki Hubby Life. (Will be awhile before Chicken Fried Steak)

The Dr. sold it to me saying the recovery time is faster while she didn't mention as I would be informed by the Anesthesiologist, that some woman have gone blind from this surgery.I didn't do my homework about this Robotic procedure. After 3 days into my recovery my bladder burst open.I went to Renown a trauma hospital which I highly recommend in Reno Nevada. One of the lasers nicked my bladder and I was stitched up. 4 Years later my bladder burst open again. It turned out that a piece of the robot had been left in my body. The O.R. Nurse was blamed for the incident. My message is this: PLEASE KNOW YOUR HOSPITALS,Do your homework regarding your surgery's.Get a second opinion. And choose to be cut open slowly with a scalpel. Anything robotic is insanity! My message to Barton Hospital please only handle sprains and breaks. Please send all patients to Renown or Saint Mary's in Reno. I almost lost my life twice because I foolishly believed the title Dr. The infection caused me cirrhosis of the liver which I recovered from. I also had several teeth that needed implants. I've learned to pick my hospitals wisely and to go see the Dr. who specializes day after day for that specific surgery. The Da Vinci robot belongs in the trash. Sincerely, Natalie

We were on vacation with a sick 2-year old daughter. Our pediatrician at home (who we had called…read moreperiodically) finally asked that we take our daughter into an acute/urgent care center to be looked at. For a variety of reasons, we chose to go to the local hospital (Incline Village Community Hospital -- separate review to come). It was at the hospital that we met Dr. Higgins. This review is less about Dr. Higgins' competence with the subject of out visit (it was excellent) and more about how she treated us and our daughter. First, Dr. Higgins was extremely slow and gentle with our daughter. During her very through examination of our 2-year old (which involved lots of abdominal probing), our 2-year old never backed away or cried. Dr. Higgins found us in the exam room with our daughter on my shoulder and rather than force my daughter to move to the exam table, Dr. Higgins conducted as much of the exam as possible with our daughter on my shoulder. Most importantly, however, Dr. Higgins constantly told my daughter WHAT she was about to do and then waited until that statement registered with my daughter -- it was almost like D. Higgins was "asking permission" from my daughter for each poke and prod. Next, and equally important, was how Dr. Higgins treated my wife and me. First, some background to give context to this part of this review. My family is -- well -- not mainstream. Our daughter was a midwife assisted home-birth and has not been subjected to the full-array of immunizations. In addition, in a recent doctor's visit for ear pain (with a doctor that was substituting for our normal pediatrician), antibiotics were prescribed for what this stand-in doctor said "might" be an ear infection -- we never administered those antibiotics (and the pain disappeared the next day -- antibiotics weren't needed). As you can tell, my wife and I do not blindly follow traditional western medicine and thus, needless to say, we are a "challenge" to traditional western medical professionals. Nevertheless, Dr. Higgins took each "nonstandard answer" with grace and equanimity. Please understand that my wife and I are NOT used to mainstream doctors reacting with anything other than condescension and judgment. In stark contrast, Dr. Higgins was wonderful with us -- clearly working outside her comfort zone and expanding her exam to include lots of possibilities that are typically ruled out in fully immunized kids. Second, my wife and I are -- some would say -- over-educated. And as a result, we ask LOTS of quesions. Dr. Higgins seemed not just tolerant of the questions but genuinely pleased that we were so interested in each minute detail of the possible medical problems, their diagnostic indicators / counter-indicators, treatments, and risks. I could go on, but I'll leave this review here. Dr. Higgins gets 5 stars in our book.

I should have paid it timely. I procrastinated, and then forgot about it. Perhaps not surprisingly, this practice's method of handling a situation like that is to send you the bill one last time with a nasty gram on pink paper attached that says, in effect, "Hey deadbeat, we're referring you to our collection agency, never come back here again, because we don't treat deadbeats who don't pay their bill". Ok, I guess. I have no particular complaints about the actual medical care we've received here, but I have no particular praise for it either. They seem keenly aware that if you need any walk-in type care they are the only game in town. They are quick to try to send you to the Emergency room at the hospital. The attitude that pervades the staff is definitely one of bitter resignation that they are destined to have the horrible misfortune of having to deal with all of the crappy rude sick people who come in expecting medical care, "how dare they, can't they see how overwhelmed we are already!?" And then to add insult to injury, there are the assholes like me who can't even pay them their damn 40 bucks... It must be hard. Poor things.

I had an episode where I was in and out of consciousness for 3 days, vomiting and diarrhea. I went to him for a referral to get testing for Addison's disease as this has been a recurring problem for decades. I've had multiple symptoms of Addison's disease since I was a child. He literally belly-laughed, guffawed, at the very idea. He was so loud he could be heard all the way out to the waiting room. He refused to give me a referral for testing. Thereafter his receptionist was consistently rude to me - I don't know if that was based on what she heard out in the waiting room or if there was further discussion about my craziness after I left. I ran out of thyroid meds a while later, and he was out of town and the receptionist refused to ask his stand-in to give me a scrip to tide me over until he got back. This resulted in me running out of my thyroid meds, which eventually resulted in yet another Addisonian crisis (low thyroid pulls cortisol low and eventually triggered a full-on crisis for the untreated Addison's disease). I lost 35 lbs in 13 days this time. My son had to come from Texas to Reno to get me, I was that sick. Had to sell my house, pack up, and move. He was shocked when he saw me. I was in very very bad condition. So I FINALLY was tested for Addison's disease (it took another year after my son took me back to Texas to even get scheduled for testing) and guess what ... I HAVE ADDISON'S DISEASE. Of course had I realized he was a DO and not an MD I never would have gone to see him for anything besides the medical marijuana paperwork. However I have to admit, none of the MDs I have had interactions with on this issue over the past 50 years were willing to test me for it either. In fact the doctor who finally scheduled me in with an endo only did it because she was determined that I was a head case and I would finally get my come-uppance. When I saw her after the testing and told her the results, she was actually DISAPPOINTED that I really did have Addison's disease. Needless to say I dropped her. But of all the doctors who dismissed my concerns re Addison's disease, he was the worst, the most dismissive, and the rudest. He was also equally as wrong.
