Our experience was absolutely horrible. We took our 09 Toyota Highlander to Cartec this morning for a free inspection (to continue the inspection the needed to replace the valve cover gasket for $330) because our car kept dying when we would come to a stop, we gave them our car for 3 hours and then got a call back from a lady who said that the total would now be $550 because they broke a solenoid that was "frozen in the head of the engine" instead of calling us before they decided it would just be better to break it out. On the phone since they decided they wanted us to pay for it we decided it would be smarter on our end to threaten to take them to court because we're not paying for a part that you broke without asking, Jerry (the owner) said on the phone that he would get the costs covered and he would message us when they are done with the car. Once we arrived to pickup our car the battery light was on (it wasn't before) and they still made us pay the $330 for the valve cover gasket. We left, went home, opened the hood of our car to see that the alternator was not even connected to the car anymore and the bolt was gone, the cover on the top of the battery was just sitting on the side, and the alternator wire was covered in a bunch of electrical tape. So, we take it back to get our alternator hooked back up and Jerry was being very unethical and not understanding at all about the fact that they left our car like that. He finally found a bolt that fits, after trying 3 other ones of which fell into our engine bay, and then sent us on our way. read more

This is the third car that we've had there to have repair work done and was thought I was getting a fair price, but the last time that I had my car in I asked them to replace a bulb to my brake light and the bulb itself was like five dollars and they charged me $55 in labor! And then when I ask them about it, they said that was standard. So I called a dealership to see what they would charge and they told me usually about $20 plus the price of the bulb this company is even higher than a dealership! Will never take my car there again and then they couldn't find the problem that I took it in for originally. read more

This is their only location now (used to have one around 25th & Harvard). The President/owner sits at the front desk and answers phones and assists customers - which is great! I brought my car in for a basic oil change on a chilly Saturday and was told wait time would be 30-45 mins. Not a big deal and they had some nice couches and hot chocolate or coffee. Single serve coffee and cocoa pods, along with water; plus "auto" tv channels. Instead of regular commercials, they are car-related commercials - reminders when to get your oil change, how often to get air filers and windshield wipers replaced, etc. I think my car was ready in less than 30 mins. Love their coupons - less than $25 and they do a full fluid and air filter check. read more

It was great for servicing my car for inspection brakes in the everything, and they found out that my car's steering caused noise and shaking. SO, i will change my brake pads and rotors myself, but tires balance? NO. I will take it to these professionals who can fix it. If I could give cartec a million stars I would. I can't say enough good things about this place. My engineer drowned under a overpass, while I'm stuck in the water with my large dog in the back on a weekend, I call cartec if I could get my car towed there and they were happy to take us (me and my big German Shepherd) she was allowed to roam the store freely when they could've just said she needs to stay outside. They handled the whole process with the insurance company beautifully, they explained the whole process that would go into getting a new engine. Asked me if I needed to be dropped off somewhere. And weeks later I had my car back just had to pay my deductible. Most recently I went to a firestone because my AC didn't blow cold air and they asked me $1700 to play Dora the explorer on my car to fix it (I told them to take a hike). Went back to Oklahoma, took my car to Cartec, in less than 1 hour and $170 later or less the problem is fixed. The staff if like no other, they don't try to stiff you because you're a male or a female, old or new. They treat everyone with respect and they're extremely knowledgeable. My mom and I were in Tulsa from Arizona to do an antique show at the fairgrounds. During Wednesday unloading, we noticed a fluid leak from the rear passenger area. Based on previous Yelp reviews, we decided to try Cartec. They were able to diagnose us first thing Thursday morning, and found an axle issue into the differential, worn brake shoes and more. Showed us the problems, and asked permission to proceed at each step. They had the parts, and completed the repairs by 1:30 on Thursday. In the meantime, they gave us rides to and from the fairgrounds so we could continue with show set-up. We couldn't be happier with the service we received. Hopefully, we'll never be in this situation again, but if we are, we wouldn't hesitate to use Cartec. read more

I would advise not going to this place I took my car that only needed a starter and a turbo in July they told me it needed a solenoid and spark plugs also I said okay to it they tell me it was popping a code for a misfire they didn't look into it any further or ask to when I got my car back it was shooting oil as a solenoid gasket and went back that same day I picked it up then they tell me I have no compression in number 4 cylinder and is shooting oil out of the spark plug for the number 4 cylinder when it was not doing that before I put it in there. When I bought the car it had to be push started it ran pretty good for the turbo being bad with no oil coming out from the spark plug holes read more

I've never felt upsold, pressured, swindled, or taken advantage of by them. Their customer service is respectful, helpful, and transparent. The waiting room is clean as a whistle and there's a Keurig if you want coffee while you wait. If your repairs are going to take awhile, they'll give you a ride to and from your job that day. I found Cartec online while searching for a place that would do an inspection for a used car I was interested in buying. The entire process was smooth and professional. I paid a bit over $100 for them to do (what they claim is) a 2-3 hour inspection of the vehicle. In all honesty, I felt that the report I was given was barely more than you would get if you have a Carfax and a good walk-around on the car. They do the standard point inspections (brakes, fluids, etc), but you can probably find half a dozen places that do that for free. Overall, I felt like I overpaid for what I got, but if you are a total newbie to used car buying and need someone to help hold your hand about a vehicle, I think the service they offer here is fair - I just wouldn't personally use it again. read more

Best service in Tulsa! I mean it. I realize you may have seen those words before - but allow me a moment to explain: my Toyota 4Runner's AC went out. Having had prior bad experiences with auto repair (see one of my earlier reviews) I was cautious where to go. I'd been to Cartec before to get oil changed. I could see they were trying with service and so I thought I'd take it in for them to look at. Up front everything was explained - they would try to evacuate and recharge coolant ($100) but it was more than likely there was a larger problem. No pressure, they left it as my decision. I was fine with that, and truth be told I was skeptical it would be as easy as that. After a bit they came back, and yes they had the bad news for me that they would have to replace the core as it was leaking. They gave me a quote to take with me and told me they'd need the car for a whole day... but specifically pointed out their shuttle service. They would pick me up, drop me off, to work or to home. I thanked them and left. The price on the work was sizable... so I took it to a place that I knew of for a second opinion - a place that's sometimes pricey but always honest. They looked over the quote and had a couple curious thoughts (one wondering where they got their parts from as it was half of what their cost was) but told me frankly it was in the ballpark for what they would charge. Well, that interested me so I asked if they could do the work - but no, they were booked solid for the next three weeks. So I called Cartec to schedule and they said they were ready that very morning. I brought it in and sure enough their shuttle service was quite nice! The next day (Friday) I call to check in. The guy on the phone is very reassuring but let me know the part that their parts place brought in was wrong! They had to get the right part brought back and, bad news, they would need an extra day. Boom! There it was. In my mind I could see the future bill already ticking upwards. Yet all I said was "Ok, I will check back with you tomorrow". Mid afternoon on Saturday I made the call. I had to wait on hold a bit while the guy checked on progress... but the length of time started making me wonder. I begin to figure it was more bad news. I felt a smirk crawl across my face. Another auto repair shop just like so many others. The man returned to the phone finally and yes it was bad news. It seemed they were short handed that day and didn't make the progress they had hoped to. There was a pause. I was nodding my head to the silence knowing already what was coming next... ...and of course we aren't open on Sunday and Monday is a holiday so it would be Tuesday. More silence as I wasn't in a hurry to respond. I replied that this was unfortunate and I would check back on Tuesday. Tuesday came and I was slammed at the office. My phone rang and it was them. It was the lady's voice this time. She apologized straight away before telling me they were renting me a car. She said she was off last Friday so didn't realize what had happened - otherwise I would already have one. She told me there was still work to do - but wanted to make sure I had a vehicle to get around. I told her sure, when she asked if they could come right away to pick me up in the shuttle. I waited and was mildly irritated, although I had to admit getting a car rental did take the pressure off. When they arrived in the shuttle she explained the reason for the added delay... they had put everything together and another (somewhat expensive) part had burned out. She explained that the owner had come out and was personal over seeing the situation. They would repair it at their expense but needed to order the part. Okay - still not good but I could see they were trying. I was somewhat curious about the owner stepping in, and I still wondered how all of this affected the quote I was given. At the car rental place, another snag... they needed the owner's signature not hers. Interesting! I was really curious now. So many things going wrong for this place. The owner arrived and took care of the paperwork and soon I drove off in the rental. The next day the 4Runner was done. I went in and got the bill... ...$150 LESS than the quote! The gatekeeper woman who answers the phone refuses to provide a rough or general idea about even general auto work. She insulted my intelligence with her canned lawyer-like responses. Someone taught her to be like that in sales training and probably made her think it's the right thing. But it's for their bottom line! They want to get you in there and then figure you will just give in to their overpricing rather than leave. That's what salespeople do. They are only in it for their own paycheck...like our (the customers) time and livelihoods don't matter. Be good to yourself and go elsewhere if you need auto work done. read more

This company changed me `157.75 to change the upper radiator hose, and I told them what was wrong. They even wanted $60 more to "clean my engine". They called and told me it was 157.75 and when I got there they wanted to change $233 to change one hose. This was 2 days before Thanksgiving. I am a middle age single woman and this company took advantage of it. I would suggest that if you were a woman don't go there. This use to be Ireland's and they were always fair, but changed to this Cartec. This company charged $80 to change a hose. read more

My last experience at Cartec far surpassed the "dishonest mechanic" stereotype. I brought my car in for an oil change. I was told it would take 45 minutes. A nail in my tire was discovered so they patched it... for $15 (done for free as a courtesy at other mechanics). The first attempt at patching failed so I was forced to find a ride making me late to my meeting. I asked that while they had my car they would run tests to check on all systems. I did not receive a phone call all afternoon. I finally called 30 minutes before the shop closed and was told I would quickly be called back. That didn't happen so my car stayed over night. In the morning I called again and I was told there was a small leak in the upper radiator hose. Replacing the hose and flushing the radiator was going to cost FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY BUCKS. This is absolute highway robbery. I quickly made two calls to other shops of similar respect and was quoted for the same exact service at $190. I also called the auto parts store and found that the hose only cost $18. Top that all of with the fact that when I told them no and arrived to pick up my car they tried to charge me $155 for testing! I will not be returning to Cartec and I will be warning any and everyone of this dishonest business. read more
