I missed having the smell of a real Christmas tree in the house. It gives a special holiday vibe when I see it all decorated. Sure, you can buy a tree from a guy on the side of the road. Drag it to your car and zoom away. How about taking a saw out in the field, choosing your tree and sawing it down?* That's exactly what I did at Carter Christmas Tree Farm. My wife then grabbed an end and we brought it to the front to get wrapped for travel. Don't worry, they have the saws available for you. Once you bring your tree home, you'll need a stand. I had an old stand, 4 screws that tighten around the tree. The tree I purchased from Carter Christmas Tree Farm had a thicker trunk. I had to run to Ace Hardware and purchase a new stand. Carter Christmas Tree Farm sells wreathes for your front door as well as other items needed to decorate your house for Christmas. Thanksgiving weekend is when we like to decorate, if your in the area I highly recommend Carter Christmas Tree Farm for your next freshly cut Christmas tree. *Next year I'm getting a tree with a root ball so I can re plant the tree on my property. read more

First, let me say that the hubby and I have had a real tree for the last 12 years. We have had them in California, New Jersey and Rhode Island. (Husband is military) We have NEVER had this problem... SO MANY SPIDERS. Dude who left that review was not exaggerating. It wasn't just one or two. My husband thought I was crazy at first...until we woke up the next morning and there were little spiders EVERYWHERE. Obviously they aren't going to hurt us or anything but I have three little kids and I don't want them decorating a tree infested with spiders. I don't know if it's this place or the area, but might be buying a fake tree this year. We put the tree in our backyard. That's where it will live. The one star is for the actual experience of going to the farm and cutting down the tree. That was the best part. Bummer read more

My experience here goes beyond what they promise, which might sound unfair - but the 1 star that they receive is for their service. There isn't any. You're doing all the work, not just the cutting down of the tree, but the lugging it to the front to pay for it. That was disappointing given my experience with other tree farms on the island, where they'll haul it for you the entire way, or provide you with a wagon to do so. Not so here. This is 'cut down your tree, pay us and get out' - which might sound like an exaggeration, but it's not far off. They did offer to carry it to the car - but I just lugged this thing a few hundred feet, why do I need you to take it the last 20, exactly? If you're lucky they'll bale it for you. We weren't, and our tree was one of the smaller ones on the lot. Regardless, ours was apparently too big - the solution was to wrap two turns of twine around the tree, making it more difficult to get down from the car and into the house, not to mention exposing more of the branches to damaging winds as we drove home. The real reason I'd never go back - Long Island has literally hundreds of tree farms. The reason most are going to a tree farm around Christmas is for the experience - the warm apple cider and hot chocolate. The tractor rides. Santa Claus, and if you're lucky maybe a deer pretending to be a reindeer. Sounds kitschy, but that's really the attraction. If you're out to buy the nicest tree you can find, then there are plenty of tree farms with trees in root balls available for you to take home, and for less money. And even though those folks aren't operating during the holidays, I'll bet you'd probably get a better attitude from them as well. This place has no character at all. In fact, one look and you'd wonder if these people really want to be in this business at all. There's a small shop adjacent to farm where there are some wreaths available, and where you have to pay cash (and only cash) for your tree. That's it. They don't advertise more, so I'm not holding this against them in this review. It's the service that warrants the 1 star. read more

my family and I were very disappointed with this place. more than half of the trees were already purchased or not available to cut down. when it came time to wrap them up, they didn't shake the tree to remove dead pines or bugs. I bought my tree ($125) today 12/2, and when we brought it in my house, it was infested with bugs. in the 20 something years of purchasing real trees, this has never happened. I'm absolutely disgusted and I hope I get my money back. read more

The owners are awful at this place. A Christmas Tree farm with 0 Christmas sprit. You can see the other reviews with problems and how they handle them.
