Kelvin the salesman was pretty good, but 'sales manager' Reza was so condescending and rude, we left. Kelvin called to ask us to come back. We agreed to come back, but only if Reza wouldnt be there. Made the deal on a used Toyota. One of the dash compartment doors was broken, so Kelvin said he would order the part and call us. He did not! Would not recommend this place! Apologies to Kelvin, he did contact my son about the part. I wasn't aware. Very glad to hear that Reza is gone. read more

I'm writing this review after a few months because I feel the public should be aware of my experience. Car salesman Brad didn't explain the SUV features when I went to pick up my SUV so I felt a bit confused driving off trying to figure out the vehicle. Took 1 week to setup the satellite radio (I get it he is new but it was annoying). I had to teach my self the cruise control and the different features with it. During the demo he didn't know all of the features, car play and the blind spot assist . He tried to convince me that I should drive away with marks/chips on my car because it would cost $$$ to professionally paint, until he asked another sales persons opinion and they said that he needs to fill the marks/chips on the car. Additionally the SUV wasn't prepared on the day of delivery. He explained that my key somehow went missing over the weekend but communicated this after I arrived to pick up the car at 7pm (why wasn't this figured out earlier? and why was the car test driven over the weekend when I had already selected it?). He followed up but eventually stopped responding regarding the key - haven't heard from him since August 13. I expressed some of my concerns to Brad but like I said, I haven't heard from him since August 13. All of this combined, its tough for me to recommend carter Honda. Overall, my research sold me the car but in terms of Brad he did not. I also follow the Carter's social media account and the sales associates on there seem like a lot more professional, I'm left wishing I had one of had sold me this vehicle. My experience with the service department however was great. Super easy and my SUV was ready early. Lastly what has compelled me to post this review is that I just received news that that my summer tires need to be replaced due to the low tread. I expressed this concern to Brad at the time of purchase and was dismissed. Brad has since departed and I hope he's left the car industry. Why am I giving the dealership this rating? Because I was passed off between 2 sales ppl to Brad after my original Sales person was "moving". Again... left with the feeling what if I had dealt with someone who actually cares about the customer... read more

Bought a brand new 2017 Odyssey, greasy salesmen "forgot" about the Tire & Rim Protection package he threw in, but when I called back and asked for the paperwork, they made a mistake on the contract, and I've been having the same frustrating conversation every time I need a tire fixed (twice already). Also developed a rattle in the dash - took it in and they had to order a part in that they didn't have in stock. Took a week but when I drove all the way back to get it fixed (the Honda dealership close to my house not being qualified, apparently, to work on my Honda), I was told they had actually ordered the wrong part and that the part I needed was back ordered and would take another month. Annoying enough, but the real kicker is when I found out the "bumper to bumper" warranty doesn't apply to brake rotors, nor does the "brakes for life" package they sold me when I bought the vehicle, and that I was on the hook for new rotors after 28,000 km. It went from bad to hilarious when I asked about getting the brakes fixed somewhere they don't gouge you for labour - apparently getting the rotors fixed elsewhere would void the "brakes for life" warranty that should cover them in the first place. The van is nice enough - but I'd have bought a Sienna if I had it to do over again. The Honda "warranty" is a straight-up racket. Update: A manager followed up with me the day after I left this review. They had the charges reversed as apparently brake rotors ARE covered by the warranty, and the part they had ordered was mislabeled at the factory, so they had no way of knowing it was incorrect until opening the box the day of my appointment. Changed my review to 3 stars - Honda customer service not so shabby after all. read more

Sales - Tried to buy a new Civic from them. Thought I had closed the deal. Put $1000 deposit down on the car. A week (7 days!!!!!) later they called me and said they no longer had the car. Seriously????!!! What was the point of the deposit? And, it took you a week to tell me you didn't have the car? Ridiculous! Lost of other dealerships that want your business...go there. Service - Wanted to take my old Civic in for some service. Called 4 times to get a service advisor to call me back. No calls. When I finally got ahold of one, he was rushing me off the phone and clearly didn't want me to bring my car to Carter. Very odd for a business to not want business. I would go ANYWHERE other than Carter based on my recent experience. Had great experiences with Destination Honda and Campus Honda. Try them. read more

Carter Honda was, by far, the worst when I was shopping for a Civic. I usually research the exact model I want in advance, down to the trim and options, and take care of all the financials first. Then I go to dealerships, tell them which exact model I will be buying, cash, and that I am just looking for a good price, below list. What is the best price they feel comfortable quoting me? Plan to buy in 4-6 weeks max, shopping on price but also the dealership that doesn't try to bs. i.e. I won't fight for the last $50 off, I'll use the dealer who plays fair and square instead. Some agree to it, some don't or give you all sorts of roundabouts. No sweat, plenty of dealerships around here and it's the same car, right? So... Carter? First of all, the sales rep told me that, yes, he has a good deal. But, I have to take it today! Today only offer! Way to go, he must have misheard the part about not buying today. It's a really good deal, he's letting me have a coupe for the price of a sedan. You know, coupes are more expensive, so that's a steal. Well, I have 2 kids so... no. Must have misheard my 'exact model' request. I did leave with a price, which seemed high. Getting home, I checked. It was way high, way higher than everyone else's fairly stingy discounts ($100-200 off is a std initial offer for a Civic), so I am pretty sure it was over MSRP. Not 100% sure, should have kept a record, but pretty darn sure. And 110% sure it was the most $$$ offer, presented as a good deal. Must have misheard "lower than list price". Next day, this "gentleman" leaves me a voice mail promising another exciting "great deal!" Look, I've seen many of the tricks played elsewhere too - "I have to talk to my manager", "today only", "Hondas don't get discounts". All part of the game, all fine. Some dealerships are even up front that they don't want to play the discount game. Carter however was more manipulative than any of the others and ended up quoting a higher price by far. You know those "car salesman" jokes? They fit right in. read more

You would think Honda Certified means that a used vehicle has actually been inspected? They sold us a vehicle with one wiper blade working and the windshield washer spray not working (even after we filled it up because they didn't). If you can't find that on an inspection, what else did you miss? They were super responsive before we made the purchase, but once they got our money they have been quite evasive. Just barely. Wouldn't say the customer service is overly friendly or eager to help. Been here for years. A good-sized location with limited customer parking on the side street entrance. Dealt with Rashid back in the day, he was good bnut no one the other day. Looking at the new Pilot, gorgeous 3 rows, 7 passengers with nice trim and running boards. Not much of a seating lounge or coffee, just on the counter by reception. Display cars crammed all the way to the back. read more

I purchased a new Civic here this week. Pretty painless - got a good deal on the car as far as I could tell. Accessories were not pushed, only brought up when I asked for them and they were able to give a price for them below MSRP. I was informed of all protections and warranties, as would be expected as it is part of their job. However, they respected my decisions and there were no high pressure sales tactics. Also, I checked all the numbers and everything added up and the financing is exactly what it should be. Add on top of this the friendliness of the staff and you've got a great dealership! Me and my girlfriend had bought a civic from Pedro at carter Honda, and at first were happy to receive our new vehicle. Later we realized that he would say anything to have us just sign to buy the car. He told us it was a certified used vehicle, but later we were told that no 2015 Hondas were certified, and that he should have known this from the beginning. He also assured us that the satellite radio feature was available for one full year, which was an option that we really liked and had a hand in our decision to buy it rather than another civic we had seen from richmond Honda. This also turned out to be a lie. I understand their willingness to sell cars and having owed a few Hondas in the past, I've always had a certain level of respect of how they conducted business as a company. But having been lied to and not realizing it until it was too late has really killed my confidence in the this company. Later I also realized they had given me an owners manual for a odyssey instead of a civic. And when we tried numerous times to contact them to get the correct one, we were told every time that someone would call us back but no one did. It took them a whole month of badgering just to receive what was promised with my car, a correct owners manual. They also took no responsibility about the lies that the salesman had told us about the satellite radio. They said since the salesman was no longer with the company there wasn't anything they could do. Maybe they should hold their salesman to a higher standard. I can see by the other reviews that I am not the only one with an issue with their customer service. I think this speaks widely about how this dealership conducts business. read more

We bought an used Odyssey from Carter Honda during my wife's pregnancy. In short, they lied to us and used their typical sleazy high pressure sales tactics rather than through honest genuine customer centred approach. They told us that the van had not been in an accident. It had been in THREE. They fed us a lie about needing to purchase some kind of identity warranty sticker program. And when I took in to their servicing dept, the guy looks in their computer and mentions how they can give us a free timing belt at 65K. Shady? Yes. This is a very belated review on a purchase I made from Carter Honda on Burrard in March of 2013. Unlike most reviews here, the problem wasn't the price or the haggling (which was actually pretty businesslike and to the point), nor revealing the full disclosure of the car I bought (saw its full service history and it was a leased car from Alberta which I didn't have a problem with). It was the non-financial stuff that really bugged me. First, when I stepped on the dealership the first time no one really helped me out for at least 20 min! They say it was a misunderstanding on both parties so I let it slide. When we made the deal and I got passed over to their "Business Manager" she was all cheery at me when trying to push unnecessary warranty extensions on my car but changed her attitude changed quite coldly when I refused any of that. I just wanted to buy just the car and no other extras. Also, when I had to work out the projected insurance premiums on my car, the insurance agent on duty forgot to give me back its drivers licence and realized I left it there when I was trying to make a bank draft to pay them in full. I called my rep to have someone give me back my driver's licence to I can make the bank draft. The rep was quite frustrated at me and felt he wasn't obligated to deliver it back but I told him if I don't get my ID then he won't get paid....eventually did. My rep did tell me in the selling process that he would always keep in touch with the people that bought a car from him. For some funny reason, he never called me back again. Experiences like these are the reason why I only buy a car every 20 years instead of every 5. I suggest to anyone who had a bad experience buying a car from this dealer or any other dealer, I CHALLENGE YOU to remove all stickers, licence plate frames, and any other items showing where you bought the car from so no one else will have a similar negative experience when buying a car. I have the minute I drove my car off their lot. read more

Terrible experience. I met up with a sales guy, who told me a Honda Civic has a 2.4 L engine (fact: it has a 1.8L engine). He told me financing a car has lower monthly payments so I should finance a car (fact: leasing has lower monthly payments if all else is equal). WORST OF ALL, he told me I have to pay a $500 deposit to know the price of the car..!! Can you believe it ? To know the price of the car, you have to pay a deposit. I could barely control my temper when he told me that. Finally, they picked me up from my house, but did not give a me a ride back home because I decided not to buy a car from them. The worst experience I have ever had. I will not recommend this dealership to anyone. I'd recommend going to Richmond Honda, which is so much better than Carter Honda. RESPONSE TO COMMENT: I was in the dealership twice, first on 19th Dec, 2013 and again on 21st Dec, 2013 (today morning). I spoke extensively to Mr. David and also to Mr. Farhad. Mr. David had told me on Dec 19th that unless I pay a deposit, I will not be given the price of the car. Mr. Farhad, who I believe is the sales manager, is one of the most arrogant people I have come across. I went to Richmond Honda previously and I was so happy with the way they treat their customers. I came to Carter Honda because its closer to my house than Richmond Honda, but I can tell you the commute to Richmond Honda is well worth it. Also, I called you on the number provided within 10 minutes of you posting a response, but was told you were not in office. I am proudly the new owner of a new Honda Accord 2016 and it's all thanks to Mimi Vu at Carter Honda! Honestly, after 8 months and dealing with 8 different dealerships I can say that Carter Honda was the best experience I've had. I originally came in their location after I saw a posting for the Honda Accord 2015 two months ago and that was when I met Mimi. The whole experience was really great, she knew the ins and outs of Honda and could answer all of my questions with confidence. If she didn't know the answer she would ask her superior to get back to me right away. All of the other dealerships I have dealt with were nowhere near as friendly and accommodating as the staff at Carter Honda. I did not feel the need or pressure to buy right away which really annoyed me when I was out car shopping elsewhere. The one thing that stuck out to me here at Carter, was that they wanted to HELP you rather than SELL to you and I think that goes a long way when running a business with clients you want to have a long relationship with. When I originally came in, I was not looking to buy at the moment and I told them up front about that. Usually when I mention that to other sales people, they lose interest and eagerness to help you out. Then you're stuck on your own to look at the cars and models. Mimi on the other hand, dealt with me like any other customer and I did not feel discriminated because I was not buying that day. I ended up liking the pricing of the 2016 over the 2015 which I initially came for and Mimi suggested to put a $500 hold deposit on the car as they had it in stock. In comparison to other places I went to, whenever they pushed for a deposit, it felt really uncomfortable and that their goal was to drain $500 from your pocket. However Mimi explained that it was a totally refundable deposit for 24 hours on the car even if I decide not to get it in the end. She also explained it would be unfortunate if the car had been sold and I would have to wait 4 months for my new car because they can have only so much inventory on hand (which other dealerships have failed to tell me). As mentioned earlier, I told them I was not buying a car that day (or that week in fact) and I absolutely LOVE Carter Honda for this, after I got approved for my car, they actually held the car for me for 2 months as opposed to 24 hours! LOL. I mean, they probably had a whole bunch of Honda Accord 2016's in stock but it really made me feel special as a client that they put it on hold that long for me and told me not to worry as they will have the car ready whenever I was ready. The process of actually getting my car was quite smooth. Jennifer who was the business manager I dealt with was quite cheery and made signing all those papers a lot less dull (signing papers without any talk or laughter can be quite a drag). She explained everything in detail and made sure I understood all of the benefits and warranty that was provided for me. I would recommend anyone who was planning on getting a new car, first time buyer or not, to go to Carter Honda and let them help you out. Especially Mimi! She was absolutely wonderful and I know even after I have purchased my car, I can always go to her for help when I need it! Thank you to everyone at Carter Honda for all your help!!! read more

We traded our Brand New 2019 Odyssey EX with only 13,000km on it. Our 2019 already had 2 years extended warranty plus the full undercoating and paint protection done when we bought it 7 months ago from Honda Way in Abby. We traded our 2019 EX with this used 2018 Odyssey Touring with 30,000km.Touring has all the features we wanted,unlike that horrible tail gate opening so low on all the non touring models.We told the salesman very well that we wanted all the paint chips fixed and we ordered the deep trunk mat.The day of pick up,our 2018 Touring was detailed with the paint protection,rims machined and undercoating.However,the paint chips were not fixed at all,so the salesman touched it up in front of us.The trunk tray was the wrong (folding one). So they had to run to another dealership to get a used trunk tray which i paid $200 for.At last ,they had to run to do a full tank on the van we were picking.Everyone kinda looked lost.We had our 3 small kids with us.But Sabrina, & the insurance guy was on the ball.We finally had SIRIUS XM going after couple days. Bill & Alan Li were great in responding to my emails,but they could have been way more organized.I was told it was all ready,guess not. Paint protection and rubberized undercoating was definitely not done up to the standard.This is our 5 th Odyssey,guess we are used to getting the VIP service at The Honda Way in Abbotsford.Sorry guys we won't be dealing with Carter Honda anytime soon.Don't promise and say its all ready and run around at the last moment = 3/5. read more

Slimy. I test drove a 2015 Honda Fit on a Saturday, but it was an automatic and I wanted a manual. I was told there were two white manual Honda Fits in British Columbia. I gave a deposit with the assurance one of them would be mine. Two days later, when the car was supposed to arrive, my salesman called to say there was a mistake and both vehicles had been sold over the weekend. He tried to get me to change my colour preference and suggested I purchase a Civic instead, claiming that it would be a 6-8 week wait for the car I wanted. But it was all a blatant lie! When I saw his coworker chuckle, I got suspicious. I called around and found out that there was still one white manual Honda Fit at a dealership in Surrey. This is information that anyone at any Honda dealership would be able to see on their computers! When I confronted the salesman in our final phone conversation to get my deposit back, he was completely dismissive and cold. He acted like a schoolboy caught stealing. I drive past this dealership every day, which means that every day I will be sure to give a little wave to the jerks who screwed up this sale... from my bright, new Honda Fit. Ciao! read more

I've had my car for a year now, but Carter Honda's mistakes still haunt me. On purchasing of the car, they registered my Vehicle Identification number so all those documents were wrong. On top of this, my loan information was entered wrong and because my VIN number was wrong, so was my finance loan account number. Just a huge chain of mistakes that shouldn't have been made in the first place. If that wasn't enough, my email was ALSO entered in wrong so I couldn't sign up for an online honda finance account. Mistake after mistake after mistake that are following me even a year after owning my vehicle. What a mess. DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING!!!! I don't even think I got a real deal on my vehicle so perhaps Avoid this place. read more

Just purchased a Honda Civic and found the experience with Carter Honda's salespeople worth writing about I knew what I wanted to purchase and had been to several dealerships looking at Civics. What drew me back to Carter Honda was the relationship I had built while talking to the salesperson a few days earlier. Michael Ashkanian, is not your stereotypical car salesman. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, sincere and not pushy at all. He spent over an hour with me the first time we met answering all my questions and showing me the vehicles but when I said I still wanted to see a few more before I made a decision, he smiled and said no problem. I ventured on and looked at a few more vehicles, at different dealerships. They were all the same model so I knew I was comparing apples to apples. What made me return to Carter Honda was Michael's attitude. I returned a few days later, made the deal and drove away with my Civic the same night. I will be recommending Carter Honda and especially Michael Ashkanian to all my friends if they are looking at purchasing vehicles in the future. read more

Bill Glavas will not inspect the car that is under warranty, saying that he will need to charge me for the inspection if it's not a warranty item. The cars is deccelerating abruptly yet he threatens a charge saying it may not be a warranty item. I've been coming here for 9 years to purchase and service cars. Purchased a new 2016 Honda Civic at the end of October with the help of Aryan. I had been researching for months on end on purchasing a used vehicle but as Honda's don't drop in price I eventually settled on getting a new one. I contacted Aryan before on used vehicles so I went to him when I decided on a new one. Was able to get a OTD price via email quickly and put down a deposit the same day. Also had financing done through the phone during the week before I went down on Saturday so that pretty much everything was done and all I had to do was sign papers before driving away. I bought a new Honda Civic in 2010 from Carter Honda ....Great Experience...thats where it ended. 1 week later I was happily driving my new Honda I received a call from a Sales Manager ...Hi you bought a Honda last week there was a mistake we gave you the cash price?. I explained I actually arrived at the Dealership with Cash was taken into the Finance Managers Office to be sold upgrades ( she was awesome ) She pointed out there was 0.99% interest and I should finance it which is what I did. I finally decided to do this on Thursday May 15th My son & I arrived at Carter Honda ( he had just bought a Ford 150 ($50,000) from Vancouver Coastal Ford on Tuesday, fantastic experience brilliant sales personnel We asked for the Sales Manager ( Daniel ) big mistake Abby showed us the car he was fantastic we went for a test drive I was hooked ready to buy quick easy repeat customer same car but new. Abby took us to his office we waited about 5 mins while Daniel chatted at the front desk Abby was keeping us entertained great guy Daniel came in putting a piece of paper in front of us with the MSRP price OK Except he had whited out the real price and had an increased the price YES The Honda .Ca price is $23485.00 Honda Carters price was $23.700 approx ( Cant remember the exact price .....but even better he had whited it out and it was now $55 more...So approx $23755 My son asked why this had white out he tried to blame poor Abby he said he had done it REALLY he then said because the car was new in December and it was now MAY the price was higher REALLY. He then said ok we could have it $55 less REALLY I walked out in amazement my son was Disgusted . Had I been writing this review 4 years ago when I initially leased my CRV, it would have been a much lower rating. However, after my visit to Carter Honda to buy out my lease, I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, in large part to the Business Manager, Kim. She made the entire process surprisingly pleasant, and, very importantly, speedy, after I told her I was on a tight schedule to get my newborn baby to the paediatrician following my visit to Carter Honda. She was even flexible enough to let me return later in the afternoon after my son's appointment to finish the process. She was professional, super friendly, and very efficient. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOCATION! Shortly after buying a used car from them my key case cracked. They wanted to charge me $150 when all I needed was the plastic casing that was probably worth 50 cents. After 3 visits and arguments a sales person finally found an old out of service key and gave me the case from it. Now 5 months after my purchase I took my car in for an oil change and they told me my transmission fluid is black and should of been changed months ago. So they clearly new about this at time of sale and chose not to change it. When buying privately I would expect that but not from a dealer. A dealer should have a car in tip top shape before sale. They clearly only care about getting the sale and not the customer service that goes with it. I will never buy from them again. read more
