The therapy is competent; but I felt as if I was just another meat-sack ATM, a human appendage to computers, paperwork, and compulsory courtesy--the unfortunate hassle standing between people and their paychecks. Both times, I showed up early. It's a habit I picked up a long time ago having to do with respecting the time of others. Pretty basic stuff. Both times, I was late being seen by the therapist. The second time (earlier today), if I hadn't gotten up to leave, alerting the people behind the desk to my heretofore invisible presence, I'd probably still be sitting there. I had checked in with the one person who was there when I arrived, given him my name and the time, which he acknowledged. Nonetheless, after fifteen minutes, there were five people behind the desk, no other patients, and I sat there for ten additional minutes, ignored like a potted plant, while they chatted on phones, sat behind computers, and shuffled papers. I overlooked, out of an abundance of patience (I know we all err), the first appointment's tardiness . . . even though I'd shown up early for that, too, and finished the prerequisite information dump well before my appointment time. Even then (and here, with two consecutive experiences in three days, is where I began to detect what I hope is not a pattern), we didn't get started until twelve minutes after that appointed time. Were it not for the second appointment--described above--I'd not have bothered to register this grievance.

Whenever a child is struggling in school there are many aspects to take into account. Adhd, Sensory processing disorder, Autism, visual processing issues, Dyslexia, learning disabilities and that is just naming the common issues. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I concur. So often parents will take an initial diagnosis as fact but in reality these conditions run so parallel it is often difficult to say with certainty. Being a parent is hard but when your child struggles the ante is raised. No one knows their child like a parent does but often a school or Dr. will label a child because they don't learn the same as the average child, often psychostimulants are prescribed unnecessarily. Building bridges is an amazing place with caring therapist that will help to tease out conditions and give alternative therapies to children as well as suggest stimilants if necessary. I've seen some amazing progress from this facility and can give eyewitness testimony to the staffs dedication and hard work. I have the highest respect for this facility and highly recommend.
