I find this store to be small and their selection of petites to be even smaller (which is strange as well because I find most women who live in the area of Irish/English descent are vertically challenged like myself). However, it is the ridiculously snooty staff here that drive me from mere ambivalence to outright scorn for this location. In addition to being bad for business, their pretension is ridiculous given that Loft is not Saks Fifth Avenue as they seem to think. They should be friendly to everyone who walks through their doors out of simple respect. I would spend money here as I am in the area fairly often and parking is easy, but their 'tude prevents me from "deigning" to do so.

So if you only wanted one pair, like I did, I guess you bring a friend who also wants a pair? To be fair, I did not get the discount booklet, so I don't know how much of a discount I would have gotten - or how much I would have had to buy to get it, but quite frankly, even a 20% discount probably wouldn't have been enough incentive here. I hope you're looking for running/outdoor/tennis shoes. I came here for walking shoes/sneakers. These were relegated to about 1/4 of one side of a display. They didn't have anything wide in my size. Even more challenging, I actually wanted a pair of WHITE sneakers... they had one on display, but nothing in or near my size in any of the nearby boxes contained white sneakers. She gave honest feedback, suggested perfect pieces to pair with tops and bottoms I liked, and patiently ran back and forth countless times to grab different sizes and colors. She was also incredibly organized, keeping track of what I was buying in-store versus what would be shipped to my home, which made the whole process so much easier. Toward the end, after I'd gone through everything I picked myself, I asked Diana to surprise me with items she thought I'd love. She absolutely nailed it. Every piece she brought matched my style perfectly. She somehow understood exactly what I was looking for--even when I couldn't put it into words. Shopping is usually stressful for me because I'm not very confident when it comes to fashion, but Diana made the experience genuinely fun and effortless. I walked out of the store much poorer , but also incredibly relieved and excited because I finally have a wardrobe full of pieces that make me feel confident. The encounter happened about 6 or 7 years ago. Unfortunately at the time I was homeless and quite embarrassed I was in the position I was in. Not much you can take from a man once you have his Pride. So the night the situation happened we were getting a Blizzard, not snow showers, a BLIZZARD. Now I didn't have any blankets but one I called the wooly mammoth, most uncomfortable thing . But it was a layer. Couple of guys that checked on one another met up around 3PM. I just mentioned I didn't have any other blankets. And my PRIDE was keeping me from asking the Goodwill if I could get a blanket and pay for it with the first few dollars I could come up with. My friends said "Are you out of your Dam mind"?? "You don't ask them for a blanket your gonna be dead before the sun comes up"!! And the old man was right. I convinced myself that the Goodwill was selling used goods to the community for a few bucks but if there was a situation that needed some rules being slightly bent I figured homeless guy no blankets in a blizzard had to qualify right? And like I said the first couple bucks I got I'd march straight in there and pay the man back and prove I valued his compassion. So 5 O'clock comes, snow starts up and it's GO TIME. PUSH THAT PRIDE BACK DEEP DOWN INSIDE and learn a lesson how people can be considerate and caring about the less fortunate. Here I go.. "May I please speak to the Manager?" " Yes hello sir I have an enormous favor I'd like to ask you " (Here's where the PRIDE IS whispering your better off dying in the snow) but I managed to get it out without my voice ever trembling.... " sir unfortunately I'm currently homeless and this blizzard is a little bit scary mostly because I'm broke and have no blankets. Is there any way that I can possibly get a blanket for tonight and I give you my word that I will be back in this store before the end of the week to pay for it, I just don't wanna freeze out there". He never stopped his task, folding sheets from the bins towards the back door. He just looked up at me and said " Nope, sorry can't give out merchandise without paying for it " but it wasn't just the answer. The man looked at me and said WITH HIS EYES " YOU SCUMBAGS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR FREE SHIT". And unfortunately I can't get over the amount of self reflection and self hatred I remember as if it happened to me yesterday. And I don't need any help assassinating my own character. No one can or will ever be able to do it even close to the way I kick myself in the teeth. I was just a guy scared to not wake up in the morning because I was gonna be frozen to a tree and this jolly old man Running the local Goodwill didn't see it fit to help the needy during a horrible night of weather by giving out a blanket that was donated for free. I'm positive that the guy who meteforically SPIT IN A GUY'S FACE ONE NIGHT AND THOUGHT of the real possibility that the guy he said screw you build a fire to might actually die outside that night. I hope he reads this and I am 100% positive he remembers who he is. The only reason it's hard to let go is because he doesn't give a flying expletive. I have a better life today and many people to thank. Obviously he didn't make the list. Makes me wonder at times though. Why do people who so obviously think they are better than a young man or young lady who is maybe just having a tough go at it consistently seem to seek employment at places that they are the most important people to keep out of those delicate employers. There is one guy (younger guy with brown hair) always working who I thought was the manager but I guess I don't know for sure and he's so nice, just making smalltalk, being helpful. One time he noticed at checkout I had bought a few things from one brand and showed me where they had just put out some additional items from the brand to see if I'd want them. There is also a tall thin guy with dreads who is friendly and always in a good mood. I think the fact that some reviews say negative things about the staff is so weird because Goodwills are notorious for grumpy staff, but I find this one to be a complete exception. In terms of the inventory, it can be hit or miss like all Goodwills, but I've had some really good luck here - less so in the hard goods/books and moreso in clothes. This one is also generally clean and well organized. Almost everything is clearly priced. It's my favorite of the smaller Goodwills in Boston (i.e., the ones other than Roxbury, which is just a different animal altogether).
