Best game in town. This hospital is far superior in service compared to Samaritan. Night and day difference.

I went to Samaritan and was miss diagnosed. After three days my symptoms were progressively worse!! My daughter then told me to get in the car and took me to Carthage Area Hospital. The doctor immediately correctly diagnosed me and put me on the proper medications. Everyone who tended to me was very courteous and respectful. If I ever need a doctor in the future I will most assuredly take the drive to Carthage! Randy B. read more

The nurses here are extremely rude, my family came here after my 1 year old niece was experiencing febrile seizures and we didn't want to crowd up the room so we left and came back and were threatened we weren't going to be allowed back in if we left again. read more

Very poor experience in ER. rude nurse. They made me and my son wait in er and they continued to give him a vomiting medication that was not going to work And they wanted to continue giving after I told them that we had tried that He was dehydrated they gave him IV fluids and the nurses were so loud at the nurses station that we could not sleep bc they are very unproffessional they need to do something better then just giving vomit meds and they run tests and they find nothing wrong read more

I was well-cared for by the staff and attending physicians at Carthage. My night nurse was awesome, and PT had me up and about right away after surgery. The location allowed me to avoid the complications and expenses of travel to another facility. This hospital is need of updates and improvements to physical infrastructure. It serves a vital role in supporting the medical and economic needs and functions of remote communities. Support their efforts. read more

The quality of care in this hospital has tanked. The staff is rude and they don't listen to you about your issues and blow things off. My husband is now hospitalized because they didn't take his pneumonia seriously. This isn't the only time this has happened. The hospital is not very clean. You can see water stains in ceiling tiles and on walls. It's also apparent that they are not ADA Compliant. A couple months ago when taking my husband to the ER with a cardiac event they denied me entry with my service dog. I have never had an issue with my dog being denied. They wanted me to put him in a freezing car. Now they are masking up again, but wearing a mask causes me to have breathing issues that triggers an asthma attack. They will not let me visit my husband and told me I wasn't allowed to go back to the hospital. Their nazi like attitude was really rich to me, since I have seen staff all over the hospital with their masks off over the last several days. My question is why are my rights violated? It's evident to me if you have disabilities you have no rights at this hospital I would avoid this hospital at all costs. Go to Lowville instead! read more

Terrible and unprofessional. Long story short, had a referral for surgery clinic through TRICARE/HUMANA. Showed up, get a physical done, surgeon says I don't have hernia.... Surgeon made claim when he didn't even receive results... I physical go get the results from radiology on fort drum and bring them to surgeon... still not good enough (even though it was good enough for the radiologist at fort drum and my PCM to diagnose me with hernia)... surgeon orders a CT scan... weeks later no phone call... I call... nurse answers, surgeon on vacation, surgeons nurse says I don't have hernia according to his notes... CRAZY! No follow on appointment. Got a referral to another surgeon. Will not come back read more

Worthless, the wait times for this place is insane. The nurse that first saw us, condescending and rude. Need an x-day or scan of something? Too bad the radiologist to go over the images takes 5+ hours to figure out what he's looking at. Don't go here, do yourself a favor and go to samaritan. read more

Small hospital that cares about their patients. Good nurses. Hard working people. Always friendly.

So I've gone here several times and I've only had one pleasant experience where I ended up having to stay overnight and the nurses were excellent and very attentive. But as far as all the other times, I've dealt with very rude and condescending ER nurses and doctors. One time I went for severe back pain and I was brought in by ambulance and I was rushed out within an hour , was given meds and discharged immediately and almost fell on the way out (because of how bad the pain was ), I've also gone in with my girlfriend when she had pain in her abdomen and heard a patient getting frustrated and left but also overheard the nursing staff say " one down one to go " and then laughter once the patient left. I've brought my girlfriends son in for something and was asked by a P.A" well what do you want us to do about it?" Instead of pointing us in the right direction. Also today , we were greeted by a pretty rude nurse this afternoon and called to talk to a supervisor or HR. I've heard several complaints from other people as well that have been patients there and all we want is sincerity when going into a medical building where they are supposed to take care of patients and help them feel safe . read more

Only visited once. Horrible ultrasound experience. Radiology was running badly behind in appointments and never had the courtesy to let me know so I could at least get my blood drawn while I waited. The ultrasound tech trainee was pleasant but obviously unskilled at the examination part; her trainer was silent, offered no help to the trainee and didn't even introduce herself to me. I'll gladly go well out of town for my needs in the future. read more
