Went to Car Tow Kohala (Waimea) for a safety check. There was a line, but the line was moving at a moderate pace. They were able to get my safety check done in a timely manner. When I asked how many safety checks they do a day, they said about 50+ inspections/day. Beware - they only take cash. There is an ATM in the laundromat right next-door to Car Tow in Waimea. Otherwise, head to your bank ATM beforehand. read more

I needed my safety check taken care of... pulled up and had to wait in a line for a few minutes. But overall it was fast service. First come first serve. No Need for an appointment. I saw on the business "car tow Kohala" page... the hours for safety checks here in Waimea are M-F 8-4pm I believe. CASH ONLY. I didn't know that until it was time to pay... there's not a large sign posted anywhere stating that. Save yourself the time/drive to an atm and bring cash. read more

Got to a bad car accident back in November where me and my passenger were transported by ambulance and stayed at the hospital for the night. When I was able to finally return to my totaled vehicle not only was all our belongings stolen from the car but they also charged me over $3,800 for the tow. I emailed them stating they needed to issue a refund as they well exceeded the state regulated maximums they could charge for a tow. They not only refused to issue me a refund but essentially told me that I didn't know what I was talking so I shouldn't make threats when it comes to reporting them to the bureau of consumer protections. So I did indeed report them to consumer protections and with in about 2 weeks the refunded my tow in full. However it should not take them being contacted by state regulators to fairly charge for a tow. In an effort to ensure no one else falls victim to their criminal billing practices I am continuing to pursue legal action against them. See photo attached. read more

CarTowKohala (CtK) became a necessary shot-in-the-dark repair haven for my car as a result of a damaged rear right tire, i.e., I had stripped a lug nut on my flat tire and I was unable to remove it. Living in a remote area of Kohala, having the car towed to The closest tire repair facility in Waimea would have been extremely expensive. I realized that here in Kohala, there appeared to be a "vehicle repair shop" on the corner of Hawi town that I would always pass on my way out of town. Having very few options left to fix this tire, I called Cartow Kohala and I was greeted with a very pleasant and reassuring female voice telling me that they would be able to fix the tire. I drove slowly with my damaged tire to CtK. Within several hours, I had the lug nut and bolt replaced, my flat repaired (1-1/2" wood screw removed) and the cost was way cheaper than a tow to Waimea. I asked Kevin if he could move my 20' Ohana/Container for me especially since he put it there 10 years earlier--the problem was that since it was put in place there was 10 years of growth all around it and it wasn't going to be an easy move to get it out of there. Well in come Roy and Craig and of course they figured it out. It was a tough move to get it off my property but they did it in a very professional manner. I can't say enough how happy I am that I called them and that they were able to get it out of its old home and placed, nicely in its new home. If there were more than 5 stars I would give them (cause they deserve it). All I can say is that if you call Cartow you will not be disappointed. Not only did they do an outstanding job but both Roy and Craig were great guys and a pleasure to work with. I'll call again when I need another move. Mahalo. read more

Always my go to place for my annual safety inspection. I recommend making an appointment in advance, because sometimes they're busy. Waiting room is nice and comfortable -- air conditioned, free coffee and water. Great service and people there are always nice and friendly. read more

The worst, of the VERY worst. I'll start off by saying that the misspelling of words is not clever nor humorous however it is your first hint of unprofessionalism. I'll just say that I had a tow.... about 1.5 miles down the street. $1,000.00. (note, all the appropriate zeros are presented, no misrepresentation here) THEN they had the audacity to quote me for repairs at between $3-4,000.00 !!!!!!!!!!! - this is not including parts I had three other mechanics look over my vehicle. The work will cost between $4-500.00 These people are CROOKS. This is my first yelp review however, I've felt very passionate this week about spreading the word of my experience to save anyone else the trouble and finances. P.S The receptionist was not nice and attempted to belittle me about the status of my car. *Pay the extra whatever to get another tow company out here / tow your car to a shop elsewhere.* read more

Two years ago they had to top up my subaru with transmission fluid. Because they used the wrong fluid, my transmission is now unfixable, and my car no longer runs. It will cost over 7k to fix this issue, which could have been avoided had they done their due diligence. they overcharged us for this service, which in the end cost us dearly. read more

I have taken 2 vehicles to Cartow in the past six months with efficient service. This week they found that my VIN # was wrong & sent me to DMV to have investigator issue a new title.
