A recent Sunday my husband called me from the Kona Target parking lot informing me his car would not start. I drove there immediately to access the situation. We contacted our car insurance co. to request towing to our nearby dealership. After an hour of waiting our insurance company phoned us and said they were unable to get a hold of any towing company to assist us. Needless to say, we were not pleased with this response from them as we have been paying for this service for 11+ years. I immediately googled towing companies near me and proceeded to call the first 2 towing companies listed. Neither answered the phone both went to message. Knowing we did not want to leave our 2-year-old vehicle overnight in any parking lot I searched Yelp! Kona Tow Company was the first one listed with a 5 Star Rating. I called, the owner answered the phone and came down to Target within 30 minutes to assist us. He jump started our vehicle, towed it to our dealership as we requested. At a 100 minutes, our insurance contacted us to find out if tow truck arrived, and we replied "no" and they said they will contact the towing company. At 120 minutes we contacted tow company directly and they replied they will contact driver and call us back. Over 2 and a half hours later, we called tow company and the person who answered told us driver has been sending messages and calling for the past 2 hrs (time frame not right), our phone goes straight to voicemail and they couldn't contact us, though we had a signal the whole time and receiving calls and messages from others. Tow company didn't even know our location or that we gave an additional phone number if the first couldn't be contacted. Long story short, highly not recommended due to dishonesty from company contact and irresponsibility putting the blame on the customer. This is exactly the opposite of "Aloha Spirit" here in Hawaii. Shame on the person working the phone at that time.

It seems that the police department is getting a kickback from these tow companies and they're working hand-in-hand together.
