I looked online at the cost of getting this retrieved. Let's just say at Christmas time, those prices make you want to cry. I had seen this place but never had a need. But I went on line and sure enough in their huge list of services they provide, data recovery was listed. I emailed them on Sunday (early evening), later that night I already had a reply. On a day off for the store. They told me they could try to get the data off and if they were unsuccessful they would help me get it to another company to try. You can't beat that for service. So I dropped off the drive Monday night. Tuesday afternoon, I got a call. They were getting really positive results. It seemed as though they were going to be able to restore most if not all of what I lost. They decided to let it continue to run. They asked me how I wanted to get it returned. Whether I wanted to buy a new drive elsewhere or one of theirs. At that point I turned to them for advice. I obviously didn't want to have this happen again. So they offered me a large external drive with a 3 year warranty. They handle the warranty portion for you. They transferred all my data to this new drive. And all of this service for $350 at a local vendor. Just to give you a little understanding of what I was quoted online for this service (without the external drive) was in the area of $1000- $1500. And that was to mail it out and insure it on top of that. So needless to say, I am extremely pleased with Build-A-Comp's technical work and customer service. Just FYI, if you are pc gaming person they make very cool pc's. I know nothing about them, but based on my experience, I would expect a great machine. I highly recommend these guys. Thanks.

My daughter discovered Build A Comp when she went to her dry cleaners that is right next door. She had them take care of her lap top computer and after that I went in with an emergency and Bob Psenka saved me. Bob has become a regular for my daughter's family and mine. Not only for computers, but wifi help, printers, tv's, you name it. His son, Brett, pretty much stays at the store and Bob's wife works there part time too. I can't tell you how knowledgeable, customer oriented, and honest these people are. My grandson has learned a huge amount about computers and other things from Bob since my daughter started having him come to the house to teach him and mentor him as part of his home schooling. There are only 5 stars, but if I could, I would rate them higher.

M@ The IT Guy - Old computer could mean dirty computer! Dirt could stop the computer from keeping cool which will slow it down! Let me clean that mess!

I can't say enough great things about Matt. He absolutely saved me this week…read more My Lenovo laptop completely failed to boot after a graphics driver cleanup utility corrupted the Windows boot configuration and recovery environment. The system was stuck in a recovery loop, BitLocker was triggered, and Windows wouldn't load or even reliably enter repair mode. Multiple shops I called said it would take several days just to diagnose the issue. Matt turned it around in essentially one day. He was able to manually access the system, unlock BitLocker, repair the corrupted boot configuration, rebuild the necessary Windows files, and get the machine fully operational again -- without wiping my data. That was critical, as I had local files that weren't backed up to the cloud. Beyond the technical expertise, what impressed me most was: * Clear communication * Fast turnaround * Extremely reasonable pricing * No upselling, no unnecessary "reinstall everything" approach He diagnosed the real issue quickly and fixed it correctly the first time. If you're an independent contractor who depends on your machine daily, or you run a small to mid-sized business and need reliable, competent IT support, Matt is exactly who you want on your side. Look no further. Highly, highly recommend.
