Let me paint a picture for you all: Friday morning, I sat down in my hotel room in Champaign with a bit of breakfast and my laptop balanced on the arm of the couch. The computer fell back, hitting the floor and popping the glass screen out of the shell (rendering the computer completely unusable). Four hours later, I made it back to Mundelein and brought my computer to the Computer Guys. Three hours after that, the Computer Guys called me to tell me my problem was fixable, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. The next morning, I received another call to tell me it was ready for pickup. I got to the shop, verified that my laptop was up and running, and I went on my merry way, fully-functioning computer in hand. In less than 24 hours, my computer went from functional to broken to functional again, and I couldn't have done it (and done it affordably) without the Mundelein Computer Guys. I asked them for a quote before they service my computer and they went ahead and fix my computer without giving me a quote. Then when I picked my computer up the screen was broken and I didn't bring it in there for screen issue. They are charging me more and told me they would take care of it, which means financially they would take care of it. Worst experience ever. I took my PC in for them to troubleshoot. After waiting 3 days, I called them to get an update and the guy on the phone didn't know but said he'll text me back. I didn't hear anything for next 2 days. I finally tried calling back and couldn't get through with anyone but texted them asking for an update. There was no response. I then go in and the guy was extremely rude and pointed at my computer which was on display at the front. It looked like it wasn't even looked at. I took it back and the guy was just very rude and awful. Very unprofessional people who don't seem to know anything about computers. read more

I went there bc my mac had a broken screen. The guy replaced it but the camera looked all pink and I needed the camera in order to take a class. I reported the issue saying it was the wrong part. He said to bring it back to take a look. I do and when I mention it's the wrong part he gets smart with me pointing to the model number "You see this model number here." then pulls up the one the system says it needs. "It's the same number." Speaking to me as if I'm stupid. I explain that either way the part isn't good if the camera's all pink. He says he'll have it fixed by Wednesday (two days later). I got no call or messages on Wednesday confirming that it was done so I call and he indirectly admitted to forgetting about fixing my computer because he had 'more urgent clients' to tend to first. I go back a couple days after to pick it up. I check the camera was STILL ALL PINK. I call back and was told there was nothing he could do. He then condescendingly offered to return the computer to its original state and give me a refund. I agreed then he added "Yeah, I just don't think our service is good enough for you." In an even more condescending tone acting as if I was pulling his leg for asking him to do his job. Mind you, the guy DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING AT ALL. I'm normally very patient and lenient with people when they work since we're all human but this was ridiculous. Steer clear away!! This business used to be very sensational on repairs, turn-a-round times, and down to earth friendly responses. I worked with Matt thru 2019. Went back Nov 2025 and now with new owners. Left a laptop to remove a password which they said no problem. Would cost $75-$100 per text. Any voice messages received are returned the next business day. Well 3-weeks later I had to drive to the store since they do not return phone calls or texts. They stated it would be one more week and promised to relay info on texts. Found out they are extremely unprofessional and quite opposite of transparent. I ended up at the store to pickup my laptop two weeks later. They acted as they didn't understand the language so I advised if they do not return I can easily involve the police down the street. Well funny how they understood that statement. If you can't take care of the most simple task of responding to your clients, then I refuse to give you my business. read more

My laptop has started running very slow and there is a popup message saying that it is low on resources which is new. I dropped of my laptop at 9 am on Monday. No one called or anything, so I called at 11 on Wednesday morning to get some kind of update. I thought I would be ok since I need it for Saturday. The person who answered asked if he could text me about the computer in 15 minutes. No one ever said anything. I went there at 4:30 on Wednesday. It was in a pile in a chair. No one had ever looked at it. So, I have to look for help elsewhere. read more

I brought my gaming PC in on 11/18 with some software and hardware issues. I was getting a driver error on startup as well as my CPU fan not registering as working (fan on, but pc says at 0rpm). The older gentleman whom I dropped it off with did not give me any info of when I would be contacted for a time estimate or price quote. I asked if I'd be given a call sometime the next day and he said yes. That was the first red flag, but I had been here years prior and had a good experience so I didn't think much of it. 11/19 Heard nothing from them. I called around 4pm to get an update. I was told they had been busy and were "just getting to it now" and they would call me that night or the next day for an update. 11/20 Still no call from them. I tried calling around 4pm and got no answer. I left a voicemail asking for a call or text with an update. 11/21 Still no call from them. I called again. I was told by the same man that they were with a customer and asked if they could call/text me in 15 minutes. I said fine. 45 minutes later and still nothing. I called again and was met with a voicemail. At this point, I texted their number saying I would be coming the next morning when they open to pick up my pc, fixed or not. 11/22 My mom and I went together right after they opened. The same man whom I dropped my pc off with greeted us. I told him I wanted my computer back and in few words said "but the technician is working on it so I can't". We asked when he would be in, he said he didn't know. This is when we started hearing footsteps upstairs. My mom questioned who it was and if it was the technician. The man said that the technician "needed to shower first" and then he'd be with us. By the way, the bathroom with the shower is right next to the main lobby, so we heard everything!!!!! While we waited for about 20 minutes for anyone to come back and speak to us, another customer walks in and what do you know? He's having the same issues!! Dropped off his computer "last Friday" and hasn't heard back at all. Seems like this is a regular issue for them. FINALLY the technician comes out of the bathroom. I tell him I want my PC back and he tries to tell me that it was fixed anyway. I said I didn't care and wanted it back. Not once did I receive a call about a diagnosis or quote. Once he handed it back to me, my mom and I left. I will never go here again. This used to be a great place for quick and helpful service but something changed in the last few years. Once home, I wanted to make sure everything was okay. Thankfully, the error was gone, but I'm still have CPU fan issues. I also checked my system logs, they never even turned on my PC until 11/21 at 11pm!!!!!!! So all that "just getting to it" was a blatant lie. It sat there for 3 days collecting dust and I was being told that they were working on it. Do not bring your devices here. Software was downloaded without my knowledge or consent. Will be bringing my PC to a reputable place to make sure nothing was tampered with. AND to fix my CPU fan since that wasn't done. read more

I took my son's gaming computer here about two years ago, after his power supply died. I thought they were reasonable price-wise, and trusted they did things correctly since the computer started and worked again. Fast forward to 3 days ago, when his computer just shut off when he's playing a game, with a little "explosion". Again, I have no idea about this stuff, so I call them and another place-considering I've called and left two messages for the Mundelein Computer Guys, as well as emailed them with no responses in the past few months-I opted for the other guys. I get a call today (after the other guys diagnosed the computer) telling me that the power supply was in fact the culprit. I asked if it should have lasted longer, and he said that it was a no-name, cheap power supply that no one should ever use (and proceeded to offer me options of what type I wanted to replace it with-which sounded fair to me since there were different cost and spacial options). He also let me know that all of the wiring was disconnected, so the Mundelein Computer Guys never reconnect any of the FOUR fans in it. Unbelievable. So in summary, I have tried with these guys, and didn't leave a bad review when they didn't return my email and voicemails a few months ago, but after learning what they did and didn't do correctly which is now costing me about $200, it was time. You'd be wise to go elsewhere, to get things done right the first time. read more

I was hacked & the hacker locked my computer. MCG was able to get it unlocked and scrubbed for ransom ware, etc. More importantly, after I explained how I was hacked and how dumbed I felt, they were so reassuring that "we're all just a click away." I originally went in to get a broken track pad fixed on my MacBook Pro. Got it all fixed up a few days later and took it home to them run into a bunch of operating issues...So I took it back, explained everything, and the Matt looked into it. After all that, it was the operating system that had been corrupted somehow. While it took longer than I would have hoped (about two weeks total due to a specific part needed) the guys were very nice and worked as quickly as possible to fix things. I had my computer repaired here on December 2, 2021 by Matt (no longer there apparently, he is at home dealing with a family emergency). I called to when I found that one of the two disc drives installed are no longer recognized by my computer and there is a clicking sound when my computer is running. It is eerily similar to the sound it was making when I originally had the problem. I took it in and was told that it was an issue with the BIOS and due to Windows 11 updates changing a setting. I call to check in a day later and the new guy (Matt's replacement) says I couldn't have had two hard installed because my laptop does not allow for that. I said I had a receipt that showed I had been charged for two. I texted the receipt to them because apparently when Matt went home for his family emergency he took all the billing software and company records with him (strange huh!!)? Well, then the receptionist calls back and said the tech saw the receipt and says I was undercharged!! Say what?? I was undercharged for a hard drive my laptop cannot have?? Which is it? I smell a rat! I decide to go and pick up my computer because I am not sure what kind of scam these guys are running. The receptionist gave me my computer and I shared my feedback that they do not look like a going concern and they are not acting in an ethical manner. She said to leave or she would call the police. Really? Enough said. Decide for yourself if you want to deal with unethical, incompetence. I brought my Samsung Galaxy S5 to this shop for the damage on its charge port. At first, they told me that it will cost $65. Then after I dropped it off for diagnosis and estimate cost, they told me that for my phone, it would cost over $200 because they had to replace the screen.. The screen was in perfect condition and I was not willing to pay that much money. So I found a shop in my town. They fixed it on the same day I bought it in at the cost they initially told me which was only around $70. I'm sorry but I'm not going back to the computer guy. read more

Really bad service... I drop my iPhone 6 the screen was broken, have them replace for me... completed nightmares... the first time they put the screen and there was things on the front of the camera, changed again and the pictures came fog and the phone start heating up.... 2nd time, screen change again and the screen now has a dot that cannot be fix, continue to heat up... probably I will have to get a new phone....please if you look for replace you screen take it to some else... their blaming on the quality of screen that they own purchase.... this is not even fanny! read more

In February, I brought in my six-year old tank of a gaming laptop when the power button finally wore out. Couldn't even turn the thing on, and the button itself was loose and moving around. Called around to a few repair places I found online, both small and big-name retailer (looking at you, Staples), but all said they didn't do hardware, only software. One recommended Mundelein Computer Guys, so there I went. Had to wait a few days for them to get a part they had to order, but the repair went well and my computer was back up and being abused regularly by my keyboard-mashing fingers within a couple of days. The bill was even about half what I had expected. I would have posted a review earlier, but I did want to wait a bit to see how well their repairs held up (great), and--to be honest--I kind of forgot, since I was too busy enjoying my laptop. Any computer problems in the future, and I'll be returning to Mundelein Computer Guys. read more

Great service! I called their place as I had questions. I was relieved to find out that they didn't charge to evaluate the issue. I dropped off my tablet and received a call back and they informed me the issue. I had the choice to accept or decline repair without any obligation. I elected to get the tablet repaired and got it back for a reasonable price. The manufacturer would have charged me more than the cost of the tablet (warranty expired) for simple fix. I would definitely recommend this place to other people should they need help with their items. Note: The parking lot is a bit small and tight. I recommend parking backwards if you can to exit safely. read more

I went here back in September to replace an iPhone 5 screen. The problem was fixed fast and it looked great. I love working with local businesses, so I decided to come back to repair an iPhone 6 screen. Again, problem was fixed fast and looked great. I wasn't out of there for more than 30 seconds, put my iPhone case back on, and the screen cracked instantly. I went back in there right away because I had not even left the parking lot. The employee said there was nothing they could do about it. I asked to speak to his boss and he basically said "too bad too sad" and did not refund me $140. Therefore, I walked in there with a cracked screen and came out of there with a cracked screen and $140 less in my pocket. read more

I had a solid state hard drive (my boot drive) crash, Windows 7 blue screen error. The store was very busy (I now know why), so it took 3 days to get to my computer. I spoke with the owner about potential options, and while I was essentially told I needed to upgrade to Windows 10 (it is end-of-life soon anyway), I figured that my hardware was too old to adequately support Windows 10 and I would need to have them build me a new PC. When they had completed the work ahead of me and got to my system, they diagnosed my issue in a couple of hours. Turns out that I had a dying "regular" hard drive that had corrupted the boot sector in my SSD. Rather than upselling me on the need for a new PC, they told me that they could recover my boot SSD to one of their drives, reformat my SSD, test it, and move my files back, but install Win 10. Luckily, Win 10 found all of the drivers to support my older hardware. They were also able to recover all of the files from my dying "regular" hard drive! This was all for a very reasonable couple hundred dollars. The piece of mind to get my machine back with everything intact, while I got great and honest advice, is something that you can't get from a Big Box store. These guys are honest, extremely knowledgeable, great at explaining the issues and solutions. I will use them EVERY time I need them, and I will recommend them to anyone who needs the same. I have a laptop that is about 5 years old. Runs amazing but I couldn't access certain programs and others went missing. I brought it to the Computer Guys and they told me that I had a really bad virus on my computer. They did everything they could but couldn't get rid of it. So they told me that I had to restore my computer. They managed to save all of my pictures and documents and gave it back to me brand new!
