I have ordered from here in the past and would give this restaurant a 4 star rating based on their food alone. Tonight they earned this review because I never got my food. My wife ordered online through beyondmenu.com after about 30 min she realized that we never got a confirmation email so she called. She was told that the restaurant had recieved the order and we were all set. Twenty minutes later they called to tell us that they could not deliver tonight. She asked if we could pick it up and they told her we could. I got in the car and started driving there, about 10 minutes later she got another call saying that they didn't have the food to make our order. I'm amazed that there haven't been more -- and consistent raves. I do note that the grumbles are about the slowness of service -- which I can't dispute. Burritos seem to be assembled like individual works of art -- none of this whipping them together, throwing things in and rumpling it up. I can hear the burrito being filled, spanked tight (they are FULL!!!) and when they emerge, whoa -- chock full of great eating. The steak burritos with guac are just the most delectable things around. I do wish there was some way to maintain the individualized excellence and move the process along a little faster -- but I'm not inclined to chide Michelangelo for taking too long with the ceiling. If I wanted it done quick with a roller, I could have ordered the painters from Chipotle. If I wanted a burrito to savor -- and remember -- I'd go, bring along a book, sit in the Frieda Kahlo chairs, and let my mouth water in anticipation. read more

We have ordered from there numerous times and overall, the food is good however the deliver always takes longer than 40 mins. Today we placed 3 orders of tacos, a grilled chicken w/rice and beans and two pupusas. It took 1 1/2 hr to get our food, when received our order was missing 1 pupusa and the chicken plate. The food was awful. I ordered a cheese quesadilla and tortilla soup. The quesadilla had nothing but a small amount of cheese in it. No salt, pepper or spices, no peppers or onions. Just enough cheese to stick the quesadilla together and that's it. When I held up a slice there was so little cheese it looked like 2 tortillas stuck together. It's hard to mess up tortilla soup but they did. It was so salty even the dog didn't eat it when I forgot & left it out. TEN dollars for a pint of soup salty as the Dead Sea. The side of "guacamole" for which I paid $2.00? I got a half avocado, with the *pit still in it*. Seriously. I took a picture because it was so unbelievably crappy of them to do this. It was sitting on top of burned tortilla chips which were dark brown. The only good things about the meal were, the delivery was on time and driver was very nice. The half avocado was good but all they did to it was cut it in half. And I had latin spices and sour cream in the fridge to make the quesadilla edible. First time ordering from them and NEVER AGAIN. Latin food should be full of flavor & other than the terribly salty soup this had NONE because they'd used zero seasonings. Here's the thing with Casa Amelia... (which I've had on several different occasions via delivery & pickup) .... if you can get the RIGHT food while it's still FRESH, then it's usually very good. I stopped ordering from here because of the service. 9/10 my deliveries were wrong... meaning they just didn't send what I asked for at all. Sauces (which a restaurant should understand the importance of) were NEVER sent. Even when you asked and reminded the person taking the order. When i would call to explain how the order went wrong, they'd always make it a hassle. Most places want to correct it when they mess up. With this place, it always felt like I was the problem. If they could improve their service... maybe upgrade whatever system they're using to take orders... and just be a little more customer service oriented, I think this place could be great. read more

Terrific food. The great news is that they have changed their set up. They have a person who handles the counter and the phone taking all of the orders. The gentleman who previously did everything (counter, phone and cook) now concentrates on cooking the food. This has improved the prep time considerably. I always ordered by phone and doubled the amount of time they told me (and would still wait sometimes when I arrived). Now when they tell me 15 - 20 minutes, the food is waiting for me when I get there. A major improvement. read more

Stumbled upon the place completely by accident, found an outdated menu online, and thought, what the heck... BEST Stumble I'VE Ever HAD!! Because the family LOVES good Mexican and because we wanted to check things out, we got quite a selection of items and NOTHING was less than unbelievably awesome!!! Chicken Tamale - Gorgeous cornmeal wrapped chicken cooked to a ridiculous level of taste, flavor, and tenderness all steamed to perfection in the corn husk shell... They literally weigh 13 ounces each... That's a heavy load of awesome! Burrito/chimichanga - We had them both ways, and they were insane! Steak Burrito/Beef Chimichanga were both PACKED with meat, rice and beans! Just a delicious package easily eaten still wrapped in the foil wrapping. Delicious! We had a couple of the 3 Taco combo plates so we could sample all of the meats... Steak, Beef, and Carnitas which were all amazing! The Carnitas was especially GREAT in a Taco... The beans and rice that came with them are a perfect compliment... We had all the tacos "American Style" because we're not all big fans of cilantro (what they put in the "Mexican Style" along with onions and lime), put perhaps next time... And yes, there WILL be next TIMES!!! Quesadilla - we wanted to try chicken, but they didn't have any ready... Yup, they make stuff fresh, like a REAL Place for Food!!! So we "settled" for Steak with lettuce and extra cheese. They melted in your mouth, it was THAT Good! Guacamole - This was insanely tasty and very fresh! They came in FULL 1/2 cup containers... Perfection! The two hot sauces they sent were well above our needs, and they certainly lit one up and cleared every passage nasal and other... OMFG!!! Last but by no means least, was the Banana Chimichanga dessert... There are no words... Just a pleasant food coma/buzz that we all sit here in. As soon as I can walk again, I'll scan and share a copy of the shiny new updated menu they sent along... We will SO Be calling them again!!! The al pastor was also dry and slightly more flavorful than the Carnitas. It was over packed with cheese. The rice was bland strange textures. Rolled tacos/Tacos dorados: Shell was good, taste like most. However, the chicken had no flavor (at least add salt if you have no idea what else to season with) and tasted like a piece of dry boiled chicken inside of the tortilla. Condiments were fairly generous. Carnitas nachos/taco salad: Wowww honestly soooo bad. The carnitas is marinated in sugar and what taste like cinnamon. To sweet. I can do sweet foods that's not the bad part, what was bad was that it was over cooked and burnt giving it a horrible scent and taste. No real cheese in sight just the artificial Tostitos kind of nacho cheese that you would get at 7/11 or at the movie theater (or at Taco Bell for cheaper and better taste). Over all it's a waste of time, and money. They took to long to make and over priced. I wouldn't bother going back. And they should probably consider taking off the "Mexican food" part on Yelp and google as well. Trust me I know Mexican food after living around so many Mexicans and being on the west coast for over 8 years, I can say this is not it nor the place to go. I have came here a few times and the food is OK. I think the food is a little over priced. Last time i ordered from here i ordered the tequitos. Was told the food would done in 20 minutes. I get there 20 minutes later and the food is just STARTING to get prepared and cooked....had to wait another 20 minutes. Sadly i did not check the food before i left. When i got home i saw that i got 3 instead of 4. Maybe not a big deal to some, but if i pay for 4 i want 4. I called the restuarant and received doubt from whoever was on the phone, "i thought i put in 4, i do not know what happened to the other" was all i got as a response then got placed on hold... I see a couple of recent reviews from yesterday and today that seem similar to my experience. Not sure if I chose a bad time to try this restaurant. Food was awful. Ordered from Eat24 usually about an hour delivery time, took an hour and half which wasn't an issue. Food arrived decently warm except for the pastelitos which were cold but not awful. The chicken quesadilla was just dry chicken and cheese in a soft tortilla served with no salsa, sour cream or anything. Super steak nachos were covered in cheese sauce under the toppings which included melted cheese, chips were soggy and didn't have a good flavor. Guacamole isn't guacamole, it was chunks of avocado mixed with salsa in a little plastic cup. Husband got the taquitos which I didn't try but he said they were like the quesadilla, dry chicken with no flavor. read more

The steak burritos & chimichangas are so good!! I really enjoyed it. Both were wrapped tightly and they were nice and hot. A friend had recommended this place and I was always skeptical about it because not many Mexican restaurants around the city are that good but my boyfriend and I gave it a shot after reading reviews and the waiting time was actually not that bad ...
