The owner, Preston, and his wife made us feel right at home. Within 10 minutes of check in we were offered fresh fruit and homemade brownies. Our room (Green Room) was decent sized, had AC, an electric fireplace, and a super comfortable bed. Breakfast was served right at the scheduled time and was excellent. Day one was waffles, bacon, and fruit. Our second and last day led us to a nice quiche with sausage and homemade crumb cake...drool. Preston took the time to sit and converse with us while we are and made a real effort to get to know us. We loved hearing some of his stories about the house and about the area. I highly recommend the Lewis house as an alternative to pricier chain hotels in downtown Saratoga and as another option to camping or staying at a motel. You will not be disappointed.

In the morning we served the best breakfast: day 1: homemade Danish with blueberries, fresh fruit, bacon, muffins, and eggs! Day 2: Apple cinnamon waffles, apple slices, and sausage. Mr Lewis and his wife were so friendly and made us feel right at home. He cut me fresh pussy willows from the garden to take home. I couldn't have asked for better hospitality. The Lewis House is walking distance to the village of Ballston Spa and about 10 drive to downtown Saratoga Springs and the racetrack. We will def be back for racing season!

The Inn is very old and has been lovingly restored like a classic car to a better than original condition.True to its heritage but with modern utilities (plumbing etc...). The grounds and property are a working farm. We saw hundreds of geese on their southern migration. Be sure to take a walk it is beautiful. We did not really see the grounds that night when we drove in. We had to 'self check-in' and found our room. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the room was. We had a wood burning stove, flat screen TV, huge bed with comfy bed linens, and a huge private bathroom. The next morning we woke up to the smells of breakfast. We made it out to the dining room and there was a delicious spread along with the owners serving us and making plenty if conversation. We really enjoyed it. After breakfast we took a walk around the property, WOW. It was amazing. The farm is so pretty and truly a great spot for leaf peeping. I can't wait to go back next year!!

I recently stayed a few nights at The Morgan State House Inn and had a mostly pleasant stay…read more I thought I was staying in their main house, but they actually had my room a couple doors down in some studios that are apparently also part of the inn. Not a big deal, but I don't know that this is something you'll really know until check-in. The building a few doors down where I stayed also appeared to be historic though a bit less grand on the main level than the main house. The lobby of the building was festively decorated for the holiday. With the bright windows, a sofa, Christmas music playing, and a tree twinkling, one afternoon I couldn't resist getting a little work done in the lobby. My room was cozy with a small kitchenette, bed, arm chairs, and desk. The arm chairs are cute but not very comfortable. The desk was perfectly positioned overlooking the windows, which made for a great spot to work. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and probably needs to be replaced (it was sinking on both sides with a high spot in the middle). For my solo traveling girlies: +The inn is not staffed all night +Doors have old fashioned keys, deadbolts, and chains +The surrounding neighborhood seems nice and safe enough +Parking is slightly off site and requires walking around the block or through the back of the property. If you don't need to bring a car, I'd opt for uber +I think there may be some permanent residents in the additional property (a couple doors down from the main house) All and all, it's a beautiful, historic property, which is one of my favorite sorts to stay in. I wouldn't likely stay there again solo, but would absolutely stay with my partner!

The main one being that I was unable to enjoy the tub as much as I would have liked. The first night the jets didn't work, and someone was nice enough to come by the next day and fix it. Later that night I was looking forward to finally using the tub as intended (and even cancelled a spa day for it) but the other guests had already used all of the hot water by then. I left without getting much of any enjoyment from the tub, which is the main reason I booked the room in the first place. The other issue was the parking situation, which, to be fair, I should have anticipated before booking, considering its location. The parking spot doesn't come with the room, so you must pay extra to access it, and finding it in the dark after dinner is not easy when you have to follow a paper map and there is a line of cars behind you. Walking back to the inn alone in the dark was also pretty unsettling. Overall, this experience was the opposite of relaxing. I will say that the property is very pretty, though, and seemed to be clean.

The fish was cooked to perfection, seasoned well and came in good portions. The greens were delicious, tender and flavorful. For a moment I transported back to my Grandmother's kitchen table. Best of all -no meat is used to cook them! Get that. ::Sigh:: Candied Yam/Sweet Potatoes: I will not have again but I am more of a baked sweet potato person myself. Minus one star since sweet potatoes are my favorite and I couldn't dig these. The service: 8 Stars here! Better than service, there is community up in there!
