We went to the Urgent Care in the early afternoon after my 2-year old son cut his chin, It was…read morerelatively minor and a clean cut, but would need to be closed. I checked into the Urgent Care Center and then waited over 2 hours in the waiting room before seeing anyone. They did not triage anyone who registered, it was just first-come, first-served. People with sore throats were seen before my son, who was bleeding all over the place. When we finally got into an exam room, the nurse (who was less than friendly) washed his chin and told me that the doctor would be in soon. A few minutes later, a PA shows up and proceeds to tell me that she can't glue his chin because the tissues were too swollen and would need to be trimmed (in my opinion, probably as a result of waiting so long), that my son will need stitches and that she doesn't do trimming or stitches and there was no doctor in the office. So, after waiting ~2 1/2 hours to finally see any medical personnel, they tell me that I have to go to the ER instead. If they actually did TRIAGE when I first got there (like any other Urgent Care or ER I've ever been to), they could have referred me immediately to the ER and I could have saved a lot of time and money since they also billed me for doing absolutely nothing but telling me I needed to bring him somewhere else. (On a side note, the Ellis ER got us in and out in about 30 minutes). I would avoid this Urgent Care, there's a total lack of process or organization and the staff is less than friendly. I guess it's ok if you have a sore throat or congestion, but beyond that, they seem incapable of taking care of minor medical problems that shouldn't require a trip to the ER.

Scary advice given. A dog may have been able to help me more than this idiot. Sorry to be so negative, but my experience with the doc was sad and pathetic. I suggest, if it's urgent, go to St. Peter's E.R. in Albany. Or even ask your cousin, who just woke up, what to do, before seeing this doc. Wait was long. Receptionist was aloof. Location was a challenge, too. Go elsewhere!

All these people expecting top notch hospital care and no wait have extremely high expectations…read more Urgent care is for urgent care, not absolute emergencies, not routine care or follow up care. That said, I have used this place a few times and other than the wait, which should absolutely be expected from any urgent care facility, they were pleasant and attentive. Had to take a friend here who was unwell with an oral infection and fever. They were understaffed, but checked back with us frequently. After seeing the nurse and the PA they ran a few tests and determined she had a server bacterial infection. Administered IV fluids and IV antibiotics as well as kept us there for monitoring for a couple hours. Again, with the exception of the expected wait times, it was a pleasant experience from the staff, and they discovered a deeper issue that was potentially life threatening.

If you arrive before 8 PM, you may get better service. If it's later than that, do yourself a favor…read moreand go to a real emergency room. Very nice staff and providers but SLOW. My daughter was experiencing severe, stabbing abdominal pain. We waited nearly 2 hours in the waiting room, followed by another 2 hours in an exam room before a provider finally came in. After a very brief exam consisting of little more than touching her abdomen, we were told they would run labs and give her Pepcid or Maalox for what was described as a possible upset stomach. At that point, we had already been there for 4 hours, and my daughter was still in significant pain. Then we learned that the lab results would take another couple of hours to return and that the facility does not have ultrasound capability at night. That information should have been communicated during triage. Had we known 4 hours earlier that they could not perform one of the most common tests used to evaluate abdominal pain, we would have gone directly to an emergency room. We left with no answers, no diagnosis, and a child who was still in acute pain. I'll be checking the lab results on the patient portal in two hours and seeking emergency care elsewhere if her condition worsens. This was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience, and I would not rely on this facility for serious medical treatment or any condition that may require imaging. I am going to assume that they are understaffed and underfunded.

They are likely tired, sore, bleeding, or suffering from other physical issues. They are then told to fill out three forms (who loves medical paperwork?) and then sit in a chair until called. The people at the reception desk can appear unfriendly. There is a fee ($25) involved too. This ain't a day at the beach. I have been here before right when they open during cold season and had to wait in line, only to finally be told that since I had only been sick for 10 days they wouldn't give me antibiotics but I could come back after 14 days. That sucks, and I probably would have left a 1-star review after that experience if I had remembered to. Anyway, I came back recently after work and had a much different experience. Yes, I still had three forms to fill out, and yes I still had to wait in a chair to be called. But they confirmed that they didn't bill additionally for "after hours" visits anymore. I only had to sit about 20 minutes until I saw someone (I had brought magazines to read so I was prepared). And the medical person was friendly and offered several different options to deal with my issue. I had several pleasant interactions with the people at the desk. I can imagine how bored they must get having to repeat the same instructions dozens of times each day. It can come across as unprofessional or apathetic. But I took the time to be friendly to them, and they returned the gesture. They also said mornings are much busier than evenings (though in an emergency... you go when you have to go). I've seen both ends of the spectrum but my recent experience was great and I learned a few tips for the future (be kind, go in the evening, bring something to read, etc.). Hopefully I won't have to be back, but if I do I will be prepared.

NP Susaye Smith prescribed a topical Rx when I asked for oral. What she prescribed was not even covered by my insurance. When I called the office to speak to her she would not let me get a word in edgewise and rudely continued with raising her voice, admonishing me even though I asked her if I could please speak. Nope-- she just kept on going. Receptionist very curt & abrupt answering the phone also, kept putting me on hold & also kept talking over me. What has happened to healthcare for the elderly in this country? Encountering this type of treatment is like a slap in the face! Paid co-pay of $40.00 for nothing! Avoid this place at any cost!
