The nice part is that is well ventilated with the AC blasting and serves some nice cocktails as well. The place inside is absolutely a haven for cigar smokers with nice leather couches to enjoy your cigar and drink making the ambiance absolutely fantastic. There is no food but plenty of drink options and specialty cocktails such as the Count of Montecristo. The cigar selection is pretty much what you get in the states so no "you can only get here" cigar but I did enjoy the Club del Turbo cigar. Service is what you would expect at a trendy upscale cigar bar or lounge. Great rum and whiskey selection...definitely need to check it out if in Viejo San Juan. read more

The humidor is well stocked with hard to find offerings from Montecristo, Davidoff, Romeo, Fuente, and Avo among others. Staff is knowledgeable and professional as you'd expect from a Monte lounge. They make good recommendations, make the cut of your preference, and light it if you desire. The cocktail list and execution of those cocktails is exceptional and quite reasonable at around $15. Classics like Vesper, Aviation, and Negroni are represented among a ton of others. They also make an excellent Titos martini extra dry with a twist. There's ample seating and great for groups. However be aware that they will only split a check a maximum of two ways. This caught my group by surprise. Overall excellent and highly recommended. read more

I've visited and been a regular at high-end cigar lounges all over the US, including New York, LA, Vegas, Tampa, Miami, etc... Casa de Montecristo is on par with the best cigar lounges in any of these cities. As a new OSJ resident, I feel fortunate to have such an awesome spot within walking distance of my home. The vibe is cool and contemporary. The bartenders make excellent drinks, and the owner/manager has been very welcoming. The crowd is a mixture of tourists and locals, which suits me just fine. The humidor is small, but features most of the premium brands so I'm OK with that. My only complaint is the with the unimaginative beer list. A high-class bar, should feature a rotating selection of great and interesting beers, particularly local brews. Sorry, but Lagunitas is not a great IPA. It's average at best. Ocean Labs Hop Diver would be a much better choice, being both locally brewed and an amazing double IPA. read more

One of my two favorite cocktail bars in San Juan. This bar has a good rum selection, probably the 2nd best I've seen in San Juan. The bar tenders are friendly and knowledgeable. A drink that was surprisingly way better than expected was their Cuba-Es-Libre. I know what you're thinking but hear me out first. Lightly aged column distilled rum is mixed with Cardenal Mendoza, their house-made cola, and citric acid. The house cola is amazing. It isn't attempting to be Coca-Cola and it comes out much better. Because they dispense it premixed from a siphon it come out as a dense creamy foam which settles into a liquid but with a extremely thick head like Guinness. The Cardenal Mendoza adds depth to the drink. Other cocktails on the menu are properly done classics. There are two downsides though. First, this is also a cigar lounge and though they have good ventilation, it still smells strongly of cigar smoke. Second, I had been drinking ice water with my drinks the entire time I was there. When I was out the bartender asked if I wanted water. I said yes and the bar tender gave me a bottle of Fiji rather than just refilling my water glass as had been done several times. I was charged $3.50 for the water. Maybe this was a mistake but as someone that doesn't pay for expensive water this felt like a tax added at the end of the night. read more
