What a hidden gem!!! We passed right by it the first time and didn't even notice this was here. Super cute and they have an inside and outside bar too. The drinks were crafted beautifully and the bartenders were super friendly and gave us great local suggestions as well. Highly recommend stopping by for a few drinks here.
THE Famous La Factoria club of where Despacito, Heart Break, and other songs were filmed here. When in Puerto Rico, this is a must. AMBIANCE: Parking: Welcome to Old San Juan, it get get pretty busy - best to carpool or do public transportation. Seating: Indoor seating or private cabana set ups for groups. Room for a total of 100 people. Feels: Welcome to Old San Juan, a mix of touristy and culture. The spot itself is popular for locals and tourists. As for the space itself, what's unique about this spot is this place isn't just one bar. It's actually a series of connected rooms (about 6-7 different spaces), each with its own vibe - speak easy, dance, casual, house, live music and more! I'm surprised each room can contain it's sounds while maintaining its own energy. It feels like a speakeasy maze meets nightlife experience. Dim lighting, vintage touches, and just enough chaos in a good way. DRINKS/EXPERIENCE It was such a fun night, not sure what I ordered but there is an abundance of flavors as every room has different selections. But popular drinks if you're looking for guidance - lavendar mule, espresso martini, a classic mojito. They got the classic to your well-crafted cocktails. Some spots provide food while others is sip and chill or sip and dance. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fast-paced but solid. Staff keeps up with the crowd and still manages to be engaging. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars! Good choices, reasonable prices, and a vibe like no other. As a gemini that can be quite indecisive, I enjoyed this spot - especially with its multiple options. Fantastic vibes and craft cocktails! My friends and I stopped by La Factoria after hearing that they filmed the Despacito music video! We came during the day and there's not many seats, but we were luckily able to grab a table. It was hard to get a bartenders attention at first and no one really came over to ask for our orders. I got the Pornstar Martini, which was super strong and refreshing! Highly recommend if you're a Passionfruit fan!
This bar serves great specialty cocktails and the food was really good too. which is surprising for a bar/club. they have many different rooms with different music selections so there is something for everyone to enjoy. it was pretty packed on A friday night so wear comfy shoes and be ready to dance. my favorite spot was upstairs where i was able to look out the windows and see down the whole strip
Top notch vibes paired with fantastic drinks The playlist here is perfect if you just want to sit down, enjoy a drink, and have a conversation with friends Once again, the mixologists/bartenders were very kind to a solo traveller, going out of their way to make me feel involved in everything going on. The water glass was always (almost immediately) quietly topped up whenever it was empty and they even offered to make me a customised cocktail that was to my taste / what I wanted at that moment Very well deserving of their accolades!
Still 5 stars... We came here Saturday night for drinks after dinner. There's a line outside, bouncer checking IDs, and people wanting to go in, but it moved fast. The place was packed but people move around, between the bar, the second room, and outside. Even with the busy bar, we did not wait long for someone to get our drink order. There's sofas, small tables, and window seats, plus enough space to stand. We waited a bit and were lucky to get the window seats. This is great for people watching plus to enjoy the island breeze. Location is great too, right on the street of many other bars making it easy to hop around and be a part of the very lively crowd that's always happy to be there, both locals and tourists. La Factoría is definitely a must when visiting Old San Juan
The most memorable night I have ever experienced. La Factoría is by no means in a class by itself if you want to feel that authentic real boricua heritage feeling well this is the place. Let me say I was amazed and so were my quests at a party we had on the second floor. When you first walk in the rustic old San Juan aesthetics building makes you feel like you are back early 1900's . Vivian our host was amazing along with all the bartenders,Dj,and the house salsa band which I highly recommend you hire. The food was authentic Puerto Rican food down to the roasted pig on the rod. Wow my mouth just waters talking about it. The la factoria old fashion drink was delicious.I recommend this place to any one looking for a great location to have a gathering with your family members and friends like a welcoming party before a wedding like I did. Parking as you know is impossible but thanks goddess for uber which made it easy for transportation.Well I will definitely be back
Ok, this unassuming (but apparently well-known) bar makes one of the BEST rum old fashioneds I've ever had. La Factoria seems like a place you would find in Portland; it's moderately hipster with an eclectic menu. I got there right around sunset and the vibes were mellow, with the golden hour light creating the perfect ambiance. Service was fast at the bar, and my drink was so, so good. Prices are also very reasonable, especially for Viejo San Juan. Bathrooms are maybe a bit dirty, but otherwise, this place is perfect.
Visited during the day after lunch around 1pm and enjoyed two amazing cocktails. Knowing this is a hot spot for nighttime, I can definitely see how this place is a fun time. Expert bartenders, can see why they're known for their great drinks. Got a Lavender Mule (perfectttttt with a lavender infusion and ginger flavor but not ginger-spicy) and Cucumber Smash (super refreshing!) which were delightful. The vibe was really awesome even though it was the middle of the day, a great group of locals around too, which only increased my confidence that this was an awesome spot to check out, not just a tourist spot. When they say artisanal cocktails, they absolutely mean it. I enjoyed watching the bartender make our drinks. My husband and I enjoyed sitting at the bar, there are also smaller tables and a really plush red couch area for relaxed seating. The best seat in the house, in our opinion was really the two barstools that look out into the street. We enjoyed sitting there, taking in some of the sun, people watching, and taking some really cute photos with our drinks. Additional cool factor: La Factoria is connected to four other bars, all on the same street, but you can actually navigate in between them through doorways inside each bar. It was really cool to be able to take five steps over and be in another bar and another and another! If you enjoy specialty cocktails that are crafted with passion, make sure you stop by this storied location. Cheers!
First, the staff is insanely good at service and crafting the drinks. I was amazed sitting at the bar as they made these drinks. Not to mind the price is perfect. I never had a bad drink here out of the two nights and many drinks had. The layout is amazing with multiple rooms, bars, and DJs. Anything from techno, pop mixes, to latin. Yes i did salsa with the love of my life. No that has no influence on my review haha. Definitely recommend for a night out!! During the weekday we didn't have a line but it was still full inside. On a Friday we had a short line at 10:30 and it was packed. read more
Popped into this place to check out the music. The hotel staff recommended it. The ambience was spot on there were two different rooms, actually three. Each of them have different music. One room, the main area had salsa, dancing, and music and eventually at 9:30 PM a live salsa band came on. That was a whole lot of fun however it was very crowded. The second room had a nice house music going on. There was a bar and a DJ and it was not as busy as the main area was. And the third room was the bar that leads to the outside called La Cubanita, which was playing mellow lounge music with a tropical beat. The food at La Factoria was definitely overrated and just OK. I did not think it was worth the price and I probably would not eat there again. None of us really liked what we ordered, but we ate it because well... We were hungry. They do offer a wide range of beverages from your standard beer, wine, and top shelf brands, however, they are known for their own concoctions. All of the drinks we ordered were delicious. Overall, we had fun, and it was not too pricey for the beverages. I don't think that I would ever go again, especially not later in the week as it is so busy, and we went on a Monday and we were dancing cheek to cheek!!! Enjoy! read more
We stopped in here for drinks and to hang out and people watch. Ambiance is chill, bartenders were attentive and drinks are good HOWEVER I paid with a 100$ bill and for some reason when I got the change back something made me count my money and sure enough I did NOT receive the correct change back. Love this place. 5 different rooms with different themes. We had a short rib grilled cheese sandwich and it was sooooo good. The au jus was wonderful. The drinks were great and the house music room was a fun place to dance off those calories read more

Classic and popular bar in viejo (old) San Juan. Def recommend to go in for a drink. They often have live band or DJ playing, which is perfect for dancing. The space is bigger than some other bars in the same area but does get packed because of its popularity. read more

The lavender mule in here is nice when I visited here at night, ambience is great for a night out in the weekends. This time I got the pina colada during an afternoon on a weekday, it's not that good, service was also mediocre. read more

La Factoría has the reputation that it has for very good reason!!! It IS the epicentre of fun, excellent vibes, superb live music and salsa dancing with people at all different levels. We went after finishing a late dinner on a Saturday night, and the vibes that we were hoping for - we received with open arms! There was no long line to get in, and it was definitely crowded inside. Getting drinks wasn't too crazy of an ordeal -- but most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, it was SUCH an amazing time!! read more

If you live a good crafted cocktail in a friendly bar atmosphere with some of the greatest salsa hits playing in the background, La Factoria is for you! One of Puerto Rico's gems in Old San Juan, this place will not disappoint! You can come in just for a drink and surround yourself with the welcoming locals who are there to enjoy the time and dance the day and night away. On Sunday and Monday they even have a live band playing nothing but the best salsa. A larger room open up in the evenings so there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. If you want to immerse yourself in the real culture of the island, put La Factoria on your list! I know I'll be back. read more

My friends and I had a goal to visit all of the bars within La Factoria and I'm so glad we did. We had such a great time. Please expect it to be crowded - this place gets packed. We did our best to find the menus for each bar and attempted to try at least one drink from each. My personal favorite was the San Juan Grubb. This place is definitely an experience and a mixture of crowds. Highly recommend checking it out. With as many bars there are, there's gotta be at least one that you'll vibe in! read more

This definitely had to be one of my favorite spots while exploring old San Juan. We were able to find a couple of stools at the bar. I was drinking their twist on a Moscow mule to start. I had a few drinks off the menu, but I would say my favorite ended up being The drink that is passionfruit and comes with a shot of Prosecco. I end up having quite a few of those lol. But this place is a vibe! They played such great music for the couple of hours I was there. Everyone was lively and just having a great time. The bartender was amazing. He came over to check on us multiple times and gave us great suggestions. I would definitely be back and make this as a recommendation to anyone who's coming to PR. read more

If you want to go to a unique place that sales alcohol, music and finger foods, La Factoría is it!!! This place is old construction but unique. Bathrooms upstairs were cleaned. It does get crowded. It has different dancing rooms to dance to the beat of bachata and salsa .It Was hard to dance and got too overcrowded. Also the food was amazing, but it took very long, but once it got there. Ive ordered the stake sandwich. read more

La Factoría looks like a hole in the wall bar at first glance. Don't let the facade fool you. If you walk towards the back, there's a doorway that leads you to a labyrinth of side lounges, bars, speakeasies and a much larger venue towards the back where they play lively dance music! All the bars are fully stocked. Having so many of them also reduces wait times to be served. Entry is free! Such a cool place NOT to pass when exploring Old San Juan! read more
La Factoria is on every list to visit when in PR, so we had to see what the hype was all about. This bar consists of 6 different rooms with a different vibe, but we only made my way through 3 of them since it was quite crowded on a Saturday night. We ended up at the second room that is one of the smaller ones. It was more quiet and chill, which I enjoyed. We were able to grab a bar stool as people were leaving and each enjoyed a cocktail. The bartender made me a Penicillin ($13), which was good. If you're looking for a fun spot to party, the music is blasting and drinks are flowing here. read more

This bar offered a truly unique experience. On our first visit, we sat at the "first bar" and were completely unaware of the other two bars within. The bartender was attentive, and the drink prices were reasonable. They mostly played house music. A couple of nights later, we decided to explore the bars in the back. The second bar was small but cozy, with a hip-hop/R&B mix of music. The third bar in the back was a sight to behold--a large open dance floor with salsa music playing all night. I had myself an old-fashioned, while my wife had a lavender mule. Both drinks were excellent! As we danced, we noticed a band setting up, so we were got to enjoy a live performance from a local band all in one. If you ever find yourself in Old San Juan, this place is a must-visit. Este bar ofrece una experiencia única. En nuestra primera visita, nos sentamos en el "primer bar" sin saber que había otros dos. El bartender fue atento y los precios razonables, con música house de fondo. Unos días después, exploramos los bares de atrás. El segundo era pequeño y acogedor, con música hip-hop/R&B. Hand down the best cocktails in the area! On a Friday at 7pm it's very chill but the bar stays busy! Love the salsa music that's on. La Factoría is the biggest bar inside this building, that includes a total of 5 bars. We enjoyed the drinks so much Friday that we went back Saturday night and my oh my was it crowded! I mean the dance floor was non existent. Although you could find a corner and dance but it was hard. Either way great ambiance, music, drinks and the bartenders were all amazing! read more

Visited La Factoria on a cruise stop over two weeks ago and it was definitely worth the walk from the port. It offers a quaint and inviting atmosphere, and it's evident that its expert bartenders put their hearts into creating drinks which are uniquely phenomenal. It's a must visit! read more
bartenders are friendly and warm. There are a few rooms within the establishment. Some had a whiff of wet dog/mildew. Was hoping that the menu had more rum cocktails. Had the bartender whip up a drink based on my likes being rum and something not overly sweet, she did her best but I was not a fan. Came back to try their version of a colada, it was ok but definitely not the best version of an iced colada. I found the drinks to be quite weak. read more

We were really looking forward to going here after hearing the rave reviews, but didn't have the best experience. We went on a Sunday evening, so maybe another night would've been better. We loved the live music and dancing. However, we sat down and were told we couldn't order at the bar if sitting at a table even though we waited about 15 minutes for a server. We also only saw a limited menu. Would've loved to try some of the other drinks we had heard about. read more
