Normally dont post bad reviews as I understand the impact it can have on a restaurant but today after waiting over 45 mins to get our food I was in shock as to how little food was served. I ordered the Steak and Shrimp Fajitas without veggies because I dont really like onions/peppers that much. This plate is like $14/$15 and what you see in the picture is all I got. I made a taco (also seen in picture) that had a little bit of beef but the amount of meat they give you was so minimal that they didnt even bother to give it on the separate grill plate every restaurant usually uses. They slapped everything on the plate that is usually used to put only the beans, rice and lettuce with guac and sour cream. I been to various pther Mexican restaurants that probably give you more on a lunch fajitas special that costs $7/$9. This is an embarrassment of establishment. Only reason for the 2 stars is because their queso was good(sat for over 45 mins so I ate a lot of chips and queso). read more

Very tasty food. I had tacos al carbon, which were served with salsa and cheese on top of them, enchilada style. My wife had enchiladas blancas and she said it was very good, not too spicy. Free chips were provided with salsa and queso. I don't usually eat chips with queso but it was good. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because I thought my meal was a little saltier than I like. read more

Quite the spacious restaurant. Popped in for lunch as we drove through town. The salsa served gratis is pretty good. The queso was an unexpected and welcome surprise. Ordered the lunch portion of enchilada mole ($6) with rice and beans and the burrito verde ($6.25) also with rice and beans. Both dishes were just OK. Mole was a red sauce and sweet without the complex flavors that often define a great mole sauce. Verde sauce also on the bland side. Beans were good. Rice was standard. Knowing that Perry has had spectacular Mexican cuisine in the past (at a different establishment), I was a bit disappointed by this experience. However, with their extensive menu, perhaps I made the wrong entree choices. read more

My parents and I stopped by for a late dinner while we were in Perry. The chips come with both salsa and white queso, which is pretty rad. I had the chorizo burrito, and it was pretty good. They were not particularly busy, but for some reason the service was quite slow. We will most likely give this place another shot in the future, but I was not impressed by the staff. read more

First time there, the food was good and so was the service. Second time there the food was good but the server was rude. Third time there we got take out. My husband got a dish with shrimp. The shrimp was way, way off, tasting like ammonia when he bit into it. So, the restaurant got our money and the food went into the trash. read more

I'm a big fan of Casa de Oro! Reasonably priced Mexican comfort food. The warm chips, queso, and salsa as you sit down in the cozy booths and tables are a great indication of what's to come. The staff is friendly and helpful without being pushy. I like the fajitas, Casa de Oro burrito, and everything else I've tried. The whole place is clean and also surprisingly has a full bar. I ordered over phone, it was so busy hard to heard. I wrote down what I wanted to order to make sure it was right. even at the restaurant you could hardly heard but he said one of the orders I got. so I took home. one order was right but the other was terrible. swelled bad and I have never order anything like that. Very well prepared Mexican fare in a nicely decorated restaurant. The staff is very quick to seat you, and apparently there is also an upstairs dining area. The menu had many varieties of the usual Mexican fare, there are so many combos, that it may take you a little while to settle on just one. One of the things that was a definite bonus was a bowl of queso that is served with the chips and salsa. I've never had free queso, and it was pretty good. The salsa was a bit runny, but had a nice amount of zip to it. We had to wait a bit long to get our food, but it arrived hot and well prepared. The wait wasn't too long but it was noticeable. Another interesting part of the atmosphere was the lack of any music. No Mexican music in a Mexican restaurant? Weird, but not a biggie. read more

Tasty food for a very reasonable price. The service was prompt and friendly. (Elisa was awesome!) Atmosphere was cool, but it was a little bit noisy...Not a big deal though, because as a Mexican restaurant with a festive atmosphere it's supposed to be noisy. What a find! This place is hidden along a dreary, small-town street in downtown Perry. I admit my expectations weren't very high for a Mexican restaurant in Iowa, but this casa delivered. I ordered the camarones de casa, which was bacon-wrapped shrimp with green pepper and onions covered in cheese. It was served on a hot skillet plate with a large side of rice, beans, and toppings. The bacon was crispy and the shrimp de-tailed, cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place if you ever find yourself in Perry. read more

Although called 'Casa De Oro' my husband & I affectionately call this place "Jefe's". Sal is The Boss and his team always serves up a fabulous meal! My Fav are the pork burritos with Verde sauce (If I could get a bucket of the Verde sauce, a straw, & a private corner, I just might die a happy woman) and the tortilla soup is the best ANYWHERE. The staff is respectful, attentive, wonderful. If you are in Des Moines, the trip to Perry is 100% worth it. Meals have always been good, on the better end of the central Iowa Mexican restaurant meals. Would definitely put this location in the top 4 or 5 of smaller town mexican restaurants in the state. We live in Omaha but we visit Perry quite often to visit my sister and we have been to Casa de Oro many, many times because we love it! The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is nice. The folks that work in there are friendly and work hard to make sure that you have a pleasant experience. The food is always delicious. My favorite is the #30... bacon wrapped shrimp! YUMMMM!!! Portions are large and you definitely get your money's worth. I can't recall what my kids get off the kids menu but its huge! Most of the time my kids are still hungry after getting a kids meal at most restaurants. Keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing you many more times in the future! read more

Pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant in Down Town Perry. Stopped with my brother to check it out for a late breakfast/early lunch. Service was prompt, and we had fresh chips and salsa as we looked over the menu. The salsa they provided was decent - one was a traditional tomato based and the other was a white cheese sauce - we enjoyed both. The chips were very fresh, they will still hot when brought to our table. I had the Huevos Con Chorizo (testing the breakfast type dishes) and he had the Flautas Plate (1 chicken/1 beef). Both meals came out in no time, very fresh and hot, direct from the kitchen. Portions were good and everything was about being hot and fresh. I really enjoyed the Chorizo and my brother like both the chicken and beef flautas - he tried one of each to get a taste. I really liked the Mexican rice and the beans had an interesting smoke touch of flavor that provided something different. I look forward to going back for dinner with my wife and based on previous ratings we should not be disappointed. The menu has lots of options and combos to choose from. The restaurant itself is clean and modern with a touch of Hispanic flavor in the décor. read more
