Located on one of the wealthiest beaches - this place is older and affordable. The amenities are few, and a lot of the decor is outdated and cheap chain hotelesque, such as ugly fake floral arrangements and tacky placemats. The kitchens have been updated in the last few years (2013 and ongoing). Granite kitchen counters and new dishwashers. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, stove, dishwasher, plates, bowls, cups and such. The basics, perfect for a week or so. There is a super upscale Publix directly across the street. Even though the place is older - it is always clean. It's quiet and it's on a beautiful stretch of beach. You can go from your room to being in the gulf in 100 steps. What more can you ask for? They have shuffle board, basketball hoop/tennis court combo, beach volley ball, ping pong table, pool table and bikes. There are also board games for check out at the front desk. There are plenty of chaises by the pool and on the beach. It is a timeshare so there are always owners who never want to trade because they love the place. There are also plenty of people who traded to be there and first time renters. One of our favorite places to be!

Upon arrival, we immediately noticed maintenance issues. The blinds in our unit were broken and lying on the floor, setting the tone for what became a disappointing stay. Throughout the week, there was no housekeeping service of any kind--no bed making, no fresh linens, no replacement of kitchen towels, and no general upkeep. We were expected to keep and reuse the same towels, including damp and increasingly unpleasant kitchen towels, for the duration of our stay. The towel process itself was one of the most frustrating aspects of the experience. Guests are required to turn in towels and then be issued replacements for any trip to the pool or beach. The process felt unnecessarily restrictive and, at times, demeaning. We were repeatedly instructed where to take towels, where to pick them up, and what we could and could not touch. On one occasion, when we brought towels to housekeeping during the designated day and time window, each towel was individually inspected. We were lectured about makeup stains, informed about their laundering procedures, and warned that we could be charged for anything they could not remove. This level of scrutiny felt excessive and inappropriate. In all my years of staying at hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals, I have never been threatened with replacement charges for normal wear on old, frayed towels. Another major issue was the insect problem. Staff themselves joked that there was an unusually high concentration of bugs this season. Unfortunately, the situation was far from humorous for guests. Bugs were constantly entering through poorly sealed windows and doors, crawling across the room, getting into beds, and covering personal belongings. When we asked whether the property sprayed for pests or offered any assistance, we were told they do not spray and provide no solutions. No guest should have to spend nights dealing with insects crawling on them while they sleep. Customer service was also disappointing. Several interactions with front desk staff left us feeling as though we were being scolded rather than assisted. As first-time guests, we naturally had questions about procedures and amenities, but the responses often felt condescending. Rather than helping guests navigate the property's unusual policies, staff frequently spoke to us as though we should already know the rules. The shared amenities were equally problematic. When we attempted to use the BBQ area, we discovered there were no utensils available because another unit had taken them upstairs and kept them. Despite cleaning up after ourselves, we were later told that the grill needed cleaning the following day, apparently due to another guest's use. There seemed to be little oversight or accountability regarding shared resources. Noise and safety issues further diminished the experience. One night, an apparently intoxicated underage resident caused a major disturbance on our floor from approximately 2:00 a.m. until 4:00 a.m., eventually requiring police intervention. Surprisingly, the individual returned a few days later and was openly drinking again. Despite the significant disruption to guests, no compensation or accommodation was offered for the sleepless night. The family in the neighboring unit was also extremely noisy throughout our stay. Children repeatedly bounced a hard ball against the shared wall for hours at a time, day after day, with no intervention from management. Likewise, the pool and hot tub were frequently overcrowded with unsupervised children, making it difficult for other guests to enjoy the facilities. There appeared to be little enforcement of rules or consideration for guests seeking a quieter environment. Perhaps the most unusual part of the stay was that we were given materials encouraging us to become "owners" despite the property's obvious maintenance, service, and management shortcomings. Overall, while the location is undoubtedly attractive, the combination of poor maintenance, lack of housekeeping, pest issues, inconsistent customer service, noise disturbances, and inadequate management oversight made this a disappointing experience. This property may appeal to families with young children or groups looking for a more party-oriented atmosphere, but it was not the relaxing vacation experience we expected. Unfortunately, I would not choose to stay here again.

Also our sink kept clogging and the plumber had to replace a part on the toilet so it would flush more easily. Too much time spent waiting for maintenance to fix various things! The restaurant is a big eh. I had chicken and another time fish tacos. I couldn't finish either because of the quality of the food. There aren't any alternative restaurants under $30. Be prepared to spend!

As others have noted in their reviews, Ken and Jeff are constantly working to keep up this lovely family resort. It is clean and landscaped beautifully, and the rooms are just right! With a sitting area in our two bedroom, we enjoyed the recliner and couch as we watched movies in the evening. In our full kitchen, we stocked the refrigerator from the local Publix and made our breakfast and lunch, which we packed for the beach. Many guests chose to grill out as we saw when we would load up to go to a local restaurant for dinner, but we preferred eating out! On our first night at Hurricane Hanks restaurant down the road, we met up with a resident who offered us more ideas for restaurants for dinner. There's nothing like walking right out onto the beach to spend a morning watching the waves, seeing dolphins frolic, observing osprey catching their breakfast, and swimming in the water among schools of fish. Many of the guests knew each other from yearly vacations, and we have already made our reservation for next year! Anna Maria Island is quiet and family friendly. White Sands Resort offers shuffleboard and corn hole right next to the pool, but the best show is the sunset. On our first night, we were surprised to see how many lined the beach to see God's beauty, of course clapping at the end! Thank you to Ken, Jeff, Joy, and Esther for a wonderful stay. All rooms have ocean view, but our room was the one closest to the street, so we didnt get the same view as the ones up front. They have 2nd floor and a ground level rooms. The rooms are remodeled with an ocean theme, making it welcoming and getting that vacation feel. I did nit give it a 5 star due to the ac and all the humidity that you can feel at night. Not sure if it was our ac or just being too close to the beach that it was super stuffy, smelled a bit like mildew and it was uncomfortable to sleep. Yes, you can find fancier places with more amenities, but Limetree delivers what is important for a safe family friendly gulf beach experience. Read on to learn why...... Staff: office, maintenance and housekeeping staff were exceptional. They were always welcoming and helpful while their workspaces were totally professional - organized, neat and tidy. Facility: Rental condos were exactly as described, stocked as promised and clean. FYI - Visitors in one unit (No 120) reportedly experienced a consistent humming from electrical systems adjacent. Also, the Internet was disrupted by the storm temporarily, but electricity and air conditioning were reliably constant. Washer/dryer units are available for no charge! During our stay, Hurricane Debby passed by, leaving about 17 inches of rain in one day with very gusty winds. Through the weather was dramatic, we never felt in danger. The building felt solid. Whew! We used the community gas grills, the shared PC, bought postcards, and generally enjoyed the same experience we've had over the years. Plenty of parking is available, and the activity center was refreshed where we played ping pong and reviewd books in the lending library. Site: The beach was substantially augmented with crushed shell/sand. It held up to the storm surge like nothing ever happened. Spectacular sunsets were a treat. We saw dolphins, pelicans, gulls, lots of wading birds including a rosette spoonbill! Entertainment: We loved the Tuesday evening one woman band. Beautiful versatile voice and musician - she had the kids, and some adults, up dancing at sunset. A magical treat! Value: For a family friendly, safe, clean on-the-beach experience- it was amazing! In summary - for the experience controlled/managed by the Limetree, the overall rating is a solid 5 (best). It's what we've come to expect after many years of visits. We hope they continue for our future generations. However - there were some non-controllable factors that downgraded our visitor experience. 1) Temporarily, construction noise from a new development. Swiveling tower cranes, clanging metal, banging, truck traffic immediately adjacent to the Limetree on the north side occurs during the day. We experienced noise from about 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This was not a surprise because Limetree staff informed us of the work. Yet we were grateful to be on the south side of the facility - a little further away. 2) Other people: We were surprised to hear late night (after closing) loud pool parties on several evenings. They stopped before midnight but still it was not expected. We were also disappointed to see people pitch camp (umbrellas, chairs, etc.) between our rented cabanas and the beach - which obstructed our water view. Apparently, there is a public beach strip between Limetree property and the waterline available to anyone. Thus, Limetree could not force them to move, yet, we are used to a Limetree community of kindness - not competition. Thus, the atmosphere at times seemed less friendly this trip. Like the uncontrollable weather, I don't allow these external issues affect the Limetree rating. We'll be back.

My aunt & uncle purchased pre- construction 2 units in the building next door, prior to Limetree became a time share & we stayed there every year. They also had a studio unit when Limetree opened but never used. Once Mom bought her unit we would transfer to that unit for our 2nd week. These units were for Mom, my sister, me & any grandchildren invited on that vacation. Basically girls only & kids which excluded my Dad, brothers, and later my sister's husband & mine. My Mom did purchase a week that was Memorial Day & rented this week as kids were still in school. However I got married on May 30th & Mom gave us the week. My husband had never been to Florida & thereafter we went every year & eventually using week 24 once Mom no longer wanted to go to Sarasota circa 2006 or so. My husband took a great interest in the turtles & took it upon himself to enforce no lights on the beach & early morning strolls & volunteering unofficially with conservationists by identifying new tracks & nests. He became known as " The Turtle Man of Lido Beach" by these conservationists & Limetree Resort. He learned a great deal & was advised to get certified as a volunteer but it was a 6 week course that due to the fact we lived & worked in Illinois & came to Florida for 2 weeks in June was not an option, plus really not necessary. This resort has truly been our home away from home with our annual Limetree friends , the beach, St. Armando Circle's favorite restaurants & stores , & a feeling that comes over me hearing & seeing the Gulf upon arrival that envelopes me, mind & spirit at peace, all concerns or troubles forgotten. There is no comparison to hotel stays as just another guest & Limetree's attention to providing amenities & supplies so you feel at home & as sense of belonging. Last year was the first year in more than 50 years I could not do my annual vacation to Sarasota due to a change in ownership to another family member of both weeks. Rest assured that Myrtle Beach does not hold a candle in any way to Lido Beach & will either rent or purchase a unit in June or August 2026 to ensure Limetree is the only destination for my vacation come what may.
