When we go again to AMI we will absolutely stay at Tradewinds Beach Resort. We feel like we discovered a real gem of a location. We had one of the one-bedroom south cottages that had a separate bedroom, full bathroom, full-size kitchen with all appliances and cooking accessories, and a living room with a nice TV and sofa. It was super clean and they were very nice. The pool was small but nice (no hot tub) and we thoroughly loved the back dock which sits on the bayside and was great for watching sunrises. The resort supplied an umbrella, towels and chairs for the beach. The island is so narrow at that point that you can watch a sunrise from the back dock in the morning and just walk across the street to the beach in the afternoon. The property was very well landscaped and we found it to be really quiet and quaint. Enjoyed having our own small porch to sit on and also having a parking space right in front of the cottage. The location is very close to Cortez Road bridge and right across from Cortez Beach. We could have walked to Bridge Street if we wanted to go for a little hike but time constraints prevented it. There are several restaurants within walking distance and the trolley stop is right in front of the property. We knew nothing about AMI when we booked the cottage but found that we liked this location much more than the crowded and hectic north end of the island. We said to each other many times that we could not believe we picked such a neat place with so much charm and personality. We have stayed in several beachside condos and much preferred this cottage experience. read more

My hubby & I and our dog Mocha Coconut loved everything about our stay here. Our first impression when we came were the grounds were extremely kept up and clean. We checked in with ease once our North Cottage(number 15) was ready. It was very clean, smelled fresh, and very open. We loved our space with living room kitchen, dining area, bedroom with king bed, large closest, and good size bathroom. They kept everything up so nicely. We loved that it is dog friendly, has a heated pool, fishing pier off back, and beach across the street. It is a good location, close to everything, and definitely an island getaway with a perfectly relaxing feel! So happy we found this place. We would recommend it to anyone. Nice little rental apartment in Bradenton Beach. The property is clearly older and has gone though a few rounds of renovations, but it was clean and reasonably comfortable. If we were staying longer than two nights, the small-but-mighty kitchen would have been perfect for cooking and saving a little bit of money on vacation. The bed wasn't the best, but it was honestly better than I was expecting. Beach access is a block or two down the street at Tortuga, their sister resort. No complaints, and we'd happily stay again. read more

The best spot on the island. Rooms are to die for adorable, squeaky clean. The pool is just right, on the sound side. There is a beautiful deck out into the sound for fishing or wildlife viewing. The ocean is maybe 150 steps away the opposite. ( The island is very narrow there.) There are beach chairs available, free. Cost is very reasonable. But my favorite is the landscapes. Tropical paradise, exceptionally well maintained. It's quiet, charming, delightful. Room are like little cottages. Front porch. Kitchen. Living room, bedroom. More closet space than you even need. The only negative I can see anyone might make, would be its not right on the busy part of the island. We find that preferable, but you can hop on the cute, open air public transport or drive, to shopping & restaurants. Locally owned. read more

I stayed here this year when I took my parents to the Sarasota/Bradenton area for spring training. We all loved it! The Tradewinds is a resort of adorable cottage-style suites, each grouping painted in a pretty tropical color. It's a quiet spot with access to a private beach shared by a few different resorts. The pool is lovely, but we barely scoped it out because the draw of the beach was too strong. Our room consisted of a small sitting area with a TV and pullout sofa bed (which was surprisingly comfortable). That led right into the full kitchen with plenty of room and kitchen tools so that you could cook at "home" if you wanted. There is also a grill and small table next to each grouping of suites. You could pick up food at the Walgreens or Publix a quick drive/trolley ride up the street. The bedroom is simple but functional with a small closet and chest of drawers in the closet. The shared bathroom is accessed through the bedroom and is plenty big for three adults to spread out. Getting to the beach is an easy and quick walk across the street. There are lot of comments on Yelp about access to the beach from all the Anna Maria resorts. Yes, you have to cross the busy main drag. But, people are in beach-mode. Cars are moving slow and gladly stop to wave you across. The beach itself is beautiful. The resort provides fresh beach towels at the front desk every day. While there, you can grab an umbrella. Chaise longe beach chairs are available once you hit the sand - either snag some that other guests have abandoned for the day or drag some from the top of the beach to your spot. There was a guy renting paddle boards, wave runners and skids while we were there. It's a great beach for shell-collecting or just chillin. Access to Sarasota and Bradenton (for spring training games) was a breeze with a car. If you just want to hang on the island, you probably don't need a car. They have a very convenient free trolley that will take you the length of the island. Overall, a wonderful place. We will be back. read more

Kudos to staff member, Dante. This is the 10th year we have stayed at The Tradewinds Resort on Anna Maria Island. All staff are pleasant and helpful. Since Mr. David Titlebaum is no longer the general manager, there have been some changes to the resort. One being that they now charge a pet fee. Two being you cannot reserve a specific unit, just request a certain type of unit. Three being Mr. Titlebaum would leave a gift certificate for me when I checked in. (Just made us feel special) When I called to make my reservation for next week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dante. He was extremely polite, efficient, pleasant and helpful. On my last visit (Dec. 2019) the grounds were still being meticulously maintained and the units very clean and well appointed. We have stayed in the south, north and two bedroom units (23 being our favorite pre Christmas family get together unit). read more

This resort is nothing like the pictures. We checked last night at 10:30. Booked a 2 bedroom suite. Fell in the beds. We woke and in the light of day the resort was nothing like the pictures they show. There was no soap in our room or our friends room. The bathrooms had hairs, the knob in the shower came off in our hands. There are water stains everywhere on the ceiling, and holes in the ceiling, and the TV's are so old they have lines that run through them. The lingering smell of weed in the elevators. This is NOT A 4 star resort. Back in 1980 it may have been a luxury resort now it is a mosquito invested dump. They have an amazing photographer who made a miracle on their website. read more

Overpriced, overrated beach motel. Bait & switch--we booked a KING sized bed. Upon arrival, Tradwinds put us in a room with two FULL sized beds and offered to upgrade us to King bed (what we booked to begin with) for an ADDITIONAL $35 per night. We elected for self parking, then when we drove back in from lunch, Tradewinds told us alll spaces were taken, so they forced the valet parking charge on us. Their rooms are Motel 6 quaility at $200/day or more. Their breakfast buffet on Sunday was WAAAAY overpriced and food was well overcooked. $50 per person for overcooked vegetables and soggy eggs Benedict. If you can eat $50 worth of crab claws, you may break even. They expect you to wear a wristband the entire time you stay--to identify you as a guest. That is the SAME wrist band for your whole stay. So if you;re here for more than one day--good luck. Lose that wrist band and say good bye to basic amenities like towels at the beach or pool, cabanas, etc. We asked about a late checkout and they wanted to charge us $20 per hour!!!!! Big time rip off and nickel & dime con game. NEVER again. There are too many other hotels in this area to play this game at $200+ per night. If you really want to spend this amount of money, try the Lowes Cesar Hotel--less than $100 per night there for a FAR SUPERIOR experience! read more

Stayed here for my 50th birthday weekend. What a great resort; clean, bungalows are super nice, kitchen was awesome. Pool area and deck are beautiful. Best of all its pet friendly. We brought our girl with us, Kiara and she loved it. It's close to some of our favorite places to eat: Bridge Tender Inn, Beachhouse Cafe, Umas Pizza. Rates are very reasonable. We can't wait to go back again. It's the perfect place for a quick weekend getaway. Almost like being in the keys but much closer to home. read more

These little bungalows offer a little piece of paradise that will have you wishing you could stay just one more night. Read the other reviews for general information. Here is my experience: Incredibly easy to find. Turn in at the white gates. The private beach is perfect. White sands. Blue water. Lounge chairs and beach towels are plentiful and readily available and no extra charge! A beautiful pool and dock. Bungalow #24 is updated and comfortable but small. Queen size bed and pull out sofa sleeper. Mattress on sleeper is very firm but not uncomfortable. Mattress on bed and linens do leave much to be desired. Bathroom is located in the bedroom and is small. With 2 adults and a teenager we made it work but it would have been uncomfortable if we were any larger of a group. Two adults would find this bungalow to be perfectly roomy enough. The bathroom is clean, updated, has a hairdryer and shampoo and conditioner. Plenty of towels, hand towels and wash cloths in stock. Full kitchen with stove and oven, dishwasher, and fridge. Table is a bar style with bar height stools featuring tight seating for 5. Television sets are in bedroom and front room/sleeping area. We left the sleeper sofa open with the bed out the entire time for convenience. The couch is what it is. A place to sit that may be a little basic . A sleeper sofa. Wonderful accents are featured throughout the bungalow. Granite countertops. French door handles. Beautiful ceilings fans and table lamps. Thick blinds that can be twisted for beautiful views rain or shine. A 6 drawer dresser stuffed inside a modest closet. This allows for not much shoe storage but lots of folded clothes storage. Crown molding is so gorgeous, it feels like I have tray ceilings in the bedroom. Furniture is super cute and matching over all. Wall decor and general decor stays true to the beach theme with the slightest hint of contemporary to keep up with the modern conveniences. Speaking of modern conveniences: WiFi, cable, Roku with all the fixin's.... Make sure to come with your own log-in info for the apps folks and don't forget to log out before you leave. Also you get your own landline with your own extension. Pretty cool if you are into that kind of thing. I am. Adjustable light in the bathroom is a cool touch. I hate it when it's too bright in any room, just my opinion. No central air conditioning, but guess what? There are two powerful wall units on the front and back of the unit, which allowed my family to adjust the temperature to individual preference, maximizing our comfort level and vacation experience. Remember you don't pay the electricity bill here. I made sure it was icy cold when I got back from the beach. A nice cool 69 is what I walked into. Yes, this is a wonderful place to stay. Wall units are much more energy efficient than central a/c and the energy I am saving at home while I am away cancels out the usage here so I don't even feel bad. Also, stay away from the Silver Surf beach. The Tortugan's are our allies. You'll understand what that means when you get here. Enjoy your visit!!! read more

We stayed in Unit #23 for a family reunion. Very well appointed! Two bedrooms, two baths, plus a sleeper sofa. Sleeps 6 comfortably. The unit overlooks the bay which offers incredible sunrises. The pool is only steps away. Pet friendly environment. There is also access to a private beach just two driveways down the street. I highly recommend this Unit or #6; both are very accommodating! read more

We stayed in in 2010 and I wasn't too impressed but I'd have to say it was "Ok". Nice size kitchen, bathroom and master bedroom. I wasn't too trilled with the front room which was small. This place is not on the beach either you have to walk down the road a little bit and cross the street. I would stay again. read more

We absolutely loved our week here on Anna Maria Island. Our cottage # 21 was absolutely perfect! It was spotless and completely updated with new appliances, new flooring, etc. Watching the sunrises over the bay from our porch was awesome! Plus, we could watch the beautiful sunsets just across the street on the beach! It was so convenient walking to a different restaurant each evening! It was also nice having an on-site manager! Super cute cottages situated perfectly between the gulf and the inland waterway so you can enjoy the sunrise on the pier and the sunset on the beach. Lovely private pool overlooking the waterway and pier you can fish from. Staff are all very friendly and rooms are presented at a high standard. I was there a while ago after which I received a satisfaction survey. I was happy to reply since I had a major problem the two nights I was there, and there was no one around to rectify it. I sent in the survey explaining that I hadn't slept at all for two nights, since I slept on the pull out and gave my friend the bed. The mattress was the WORST and I had to put my pillows under me because the bars were hurting me! I never got a response! I recently saw them on Facebook and sent them a private message. They seemed very concerned, but then just told me they replaced the mattresses since my stay, and if ever I return to let them know and I will get the VIP treatment!!! Are they kidding me??????? What a lovely little place! Tradewinds is exactly the kind of place I'm always looking for online and rarely find. Even better that I ran across it accidentally while walking around the island. My little cottage was spotless. I loved the real ceramic tile floors and real quilt on the comfy, clean bed. I had a darling kitchen outfitted with all the cooking essentials, and a real oven/range and full size fridge! All for $139 or so a night. They also gave me a 10% discount for being a walk in. The pool is also very clean, and situated right on the bay. I felt safe walking down there in the night by myself, and watched the blood moon eclipse from in the water. Nice bonuses are the free laundrymat, the nice TV, and the pretty landscaping. If I ever return to Santa Maria Island this is where I'm staying! read more

Fabulously clean grounds. If you are looking for brand new, ultra high end and modern places, look elsewhere. We had stayed at places like that during our vacation, and this place was refreshingly relaxing and not as "sterile" as the others. It felt homey and was very quiet. The people in the office are wonderful, as was everyone else we met here. Great location, great price, cute and homey place to crash at night. We will definitely be coming here again! read more
