Lastly, he charged us for a broken door which was broken when we arrived. We noticed it but didn't think anything of it thinking the owner already new about it since it was there apon arrival. I feel he took advantage of us just because we used the words bachelor party. We were there a total of probably 15 hours the entire long weekend and it was all just to sleep. When my boy friend asked him to send us a check for $200 for the towing fee and I would take it down Connor stopped harassing him.

I had no idea where we were headed, I just knew I was along for the ride as he conducted an informal meet-and-great driving along I-35. Having traveled some distance to Austin, it was great to have such a comfortable place to shower and crash. The follow morning, I awoke to an omelet and freshly brewed coffee. The following evening, everyone at the house piled into the Ram and Connor took us out for a night on the town, featuring donut burgers, blues music, two-step dancing, and half-priced Texas beer. Over the next two weeks, I enjoyed impromptu barbeques, bonfires, and living room concerts, and met a rotation of interesting people: a young man working his way across the States selling children's books door-to-door, a culinary queen from upstate Wisconsin, a friendly cab driver visiting from Long Island, a lighthearted deckhand on leave, a Dutch mother-daughter team enjoying a Texas-style holiday, and the British people... who charmed us all! The hostel is in a great location. There are coffee shops, co-ops and natural food markets, bookstores, bike shops, convinces stores, and local restaurants all within walking distance, and it's a short bus ride to get downtown. Best of all is the FREE, warm, spring-fed neighborhood pool nearby. Uber Sleeper Hostel & Breakfast is the epitome of what a hostel should be! The bathroom was also spacious and nice with good shower products. One thing I will say is that the air conditioning is VERY loud. I shared a bed with my friend that wasn't directly in front of it, but our other friend in the "tundra" was pretty uncomfortable during the night because it was both cold and loud. We were offered a King room with a fold out and a $75 credit at the bar which I begrudgingly accepted. So off to the bar we went. As we attempted to close out at the bar we were informed that we could not use the credit offered because our room had not been entered into the system. Credit was useless, I paid the tab and went to dinner. Came back 2 hours later, room still not ready. It is now 4 hours past check in time. I ask for a manager and at this point getting upset. Manager appears and threatens to throw me out. At this point I give up, go to the room that I don't want and call Amex to deal with the issue. I have stayed at the Driskill well over a dozen times thru out the years and I am really disappointed that this experience has ruined all of the good memories. Sadly it will be my last stay. I've had better treatment at a Super 8. Hyatt has really ruined a true Texas landmark with this sloppy management and poor customer service.

The water needs to be upped a few degrees. Parking, yes there is ample covered parking but it is run by a separate company and it is going to cost you. Cleanliness, very clean. There are locking gates to get into the premises, but the one by the pool was broken. The lobby doubled as a weird Austin t-shirt shop. Meowdy! The staff was nice. The maids came and cleaned every day. The place was kept up and nice. I'd love to return!
