This hotel is a well-kept secret, a true delight and well-priced. Great vibes. The staff was helpful and friendly and the room was decorated very much like in Dwell Magazine. Nice thick towels, modern bathroom and comfy bed. Spotless with great bathroom. Each Christmas when I visit my brother's family in Austin I try different hotels. This was the best in the past 7 years!I'm on a budget and was surprised by how nice East Austin Hotel was for the money. It's unassuming from the street but once inside the view down from the rooms to the pool is lovely. They're working on bringing their rooftop bar back into service. Once they do, it looks like an amazing place to hang out with a grand view of Austin.

This place is the best! The room was very clean, and cute. The staff were very friendly, we got room service on a Saturday during a busy party and it was still super fast delivery and tasty. You can also get bar drinks with room service. This hotel has the best vibes, and food. We will be staying here every trip to Austin! You can't beat the location, walking distance to everything fun on east sixth, and groceries are a 5 minute walk. As some have mentioned the music is loud at the pool sometimes, that might not be for everyone . We liked it, that's what we came here for, a good time in a fun area.

Hostel, a step above Motel, def not Hotel Great location for accessing local culture, amazing food, doggies and kind neighbors, and a walk away from any bar, store or gym you're looking for as an urban living lover. Decent room sizes and adequate amenities, in house restaurant, pool, etc. Cleanliness is great and while the value can't be measured by the price, but more the quality you're looking to have, I was happy at my first visit for work. Cons: The most horrendous customer service experience I have ever had. The work trip was very last minute extended to several more days and I was able to get another room transfer by the evening before check-out. Picked up the new keys with all good intent to move my luggage into the new room downstairs after getting dinner at 9 pm. I worked until 7 and had to shower, pack, and get food before, however, I was so tired I fell asleep on my bed around 9:30. I woke up around 2-3 am to an endless ringing from the hotel phone, it was so bizarre and intrusive and I was so disoriented I just turned over and fell back to sleep. When I went to ask the front desk person the following morning why this happened, he told me quite unkindly that I had several complaints from neighbors downstairs about my heavy footsteps that woke them up at "5-6 am." I told him that I am referring to a call that actually had occurred quite earlier in the night and that I was still asleep by five and 6 AM. When I mentioned why this couldn't have waited until I wasn't awake in the morning to address he said that they were "concerned because it was unacceptable that I had gotten the keys to move to the room downstairs and yet did not move until early the following morning." I apologized and let him know that I was not aware of this hard and fast rule that the moment I get a new key that I had to move into the new room. I also said I paid twice for that evening, once for the room upstairs and again for the room downstairs, so I was under the assumption that I rightfully had access to both rooms. And there was not another guest who was going to check in, since I'm sure that would have been mentioned to me quite earlier than 3 AM. He kept saying that well you have several complaints. This is what the neighbors downstairs had said and again I said I was asleep. How could that have happened? It seems like he was insinuating. I was not only a terrible guest because I did not move rooms when they "expected me to" but that I was now a inconsiderate person for having walked around in my room during the night (God forbid I woke up to use the bathroom) since I had really heavy footsteps. His tone, facial expression and indignation also insinuated, additionally, that I was heavy. And again, I told him this was so offensive to say, and he responded back quite clearly, " it shouldn't be offensive." Oh my god. I immediately left the front desk after that conversation to go into my room to cry before I head off to work for the day, and I said this to him. Again, he shrugged in indifference at my expression of disbelief and hurt. Really really awful customer service and I truly hope this is not a reflection of the culture and standard that is of this hotel, if you can even call it one based on this experience. On yelp, there are several other complaints about how the walls are so thin that guest are able to hear people upstairs, or they're able to hear sounds of plumbing or AC starting, and various other too close for comfort noises as prior guests. If this noise issue is something that has happened many times over please do not continue to berate your guests for being loud when really the problem is the actual infrastructure of the building. As the regional director of several clinics in Texas, I know how important customer service and caretaking is for retaining a healthy relationship with your customers, and I would have actually apologized personally to the folks who were downstairs and told them prior to the stay that there may be expected noise disruptions to consider and comped them for their stay. I would NOT have done what this unbelievable gentleman did as a person and member of the "hospitality" industry.

I absolutely forgot this hotel was communal when we booked so it was a confusing minute that our bathrooms were outside the room. It was a different experience and we honestly enjoyed it. They were clean and never crowded and have handicapped bathroom/showers. The room was cozy. Our particular building didn't have an elevator, only stairs but the building surrounding the pool did. So if you need those accommodations, it might be best to book over the phone instead of a third party (Hotels, Expedia, etc.) to make sure you get a room in a building with the elevator. The courtyard had an outside bar but they're seasonal but still relaxing place to be. And there's a restaurant connected to the hotel but the street has late night businesses and bars if you want something later. They have a parking garage that's $30ish dollars for a night and with in and out access. If you don't mind dorm style or open to a non-traditional hotel, this place is cute! I will say the night we stayed, there's a THC truck outside that was playing music. We were able to fall asleep but keep ear plugs handy if you're a light sleeper.

Quite possibly Austin's best kept secret ! As a regular traveler for business and pleasure, I make it a point to stay at hotels that are funky and different and not the standard cookie cutter hotel. I stumbled across the East Austin hotel a few years ago and loved my experience so much that I make it a point to stay here whenever I'm in town. Super friendly staff and the on-premises restaurant is even better. The 2nd Bar & Kitchen has that "Cheers" sitcom feeling "where everybody knows your name". Great friendly staff and this would certainly be a place I'd put on my list when looking for something fun and different while visiting Austin! LOVE this place !

I loved this hotel! The room was so pretty! I loved the decor and I loved how welcoming everyone was. We checked into the king room but the AC wasn't working so they quickly moved us to a different room. I love how on it they were and the maintenance guy didn't have to help us move but he did and he was so amicable. The rooms were spacious and they were so clean I love how there was 2 complimentary water bottles. I would definitely stay again.

Warning - read your booking EXTRA closely. A large portion of this hotel has shared bathrooms!!! (Yes like a hostel) I was very displeased with my recent stay here. I lived in East Austin a number of years and frequented the balcony bar often (which is super cute), but never stayed here until a recent visit back to town. I relooked at my reservation and the bathroom explanation is fine print and not obvious. The shared bathrooms were hostel like and were not well maintained. I tried a couple of the stalls and while they are private and do lock, they were dirty and not cleaned often. They provide men's and women's USED shower shoes in your room which was also gross and dated stained towels. The carpet in the rooms are so disgusting I didn't take my socks or shoes off during my stay and there was so much dust on the counter top of the desk it looked like it has not been cleaned in a very long time. The walls are paper thin both to other rooms and to the street. While the public spaces in this hotel are cute, this was a horrendous stay for me as I could not sleep. I think it's important for others to know what you're getting into if you stay here. I'm not going back.

Cockroach rooms for a ridiculous price. I left my first review on TripAdvisor and they tried to message me if I wanted a discount. LOL save your money and go to the hotel down the road. What was supposed to be a romantic getaway for my Boyfriend and me ended up being a scary visit. As soon as I turned on the air-conditioner... the critters syatted crawling. OH my gosh it was so

My wife and I came by Second Bar + Kitchen Rooftop at East Austin Hotel for drinks and appetizers on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We had some great palomas, as well as some truffle fries, brussel sprouts, and shishito peppers. Our server (from Pittsburgh) was awesome! This place is very pretty inside and we really enjoyed coming in out of the heat to cool off during happy hour here. I've been to another location for Second Bar and Kitchen and this location was better all the way around, even if the menu was similar. We'll be back.

Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.

I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall sockets with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The electrical outlets weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. Enjoyed the bottomless drip coffee $5 and their signature Breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, overall maintenance of room amenities could be handled better. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) the added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out privileges). However if booking directly through Colton House for stays, parking is 50% off at $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not. For an SLH property, we may look for another better-maintained option in the future.

Upon arrival we were informed that our room was not only not ready, but they were "sold out" of double queens. Imagine my confusion as at had not reserved this room, I PREPAID for it. We were offered a King room with a fold out and a $75 credit at the bar which I begrudgingly accepted. So off to the bar we went. As we attempted to close out at the bar we were informed that we could not use the credit offered because our room had not been entered into the system. Credit was useless, I paid the tab and went to dinner. Came back 2 hours later, room still not ready. It is now 4 hours past check in time. I ask for a manager and at this point getting upset. Manager appears and threatens to throw me out. At this point I give up, go to the room that I don't want and call Amex to deal with the issue. I have stayed at the Driskill well over a dozen times thru out the years and I am really disappointed that this experience has ruined all of the good memories. Sadly it will be my last stay. I've had better treatment at a Super 8. Hyatt has really ruined a true Texas landmark with this sloppy management and poor customer service.
