On a recent trip to Austin my girlfriends and I stayed at the Hyatt Place in downtown. The hotel is located in a central location so its a quick walk to some spots, as well as a pretty central spot to hop into an uber from. Our room had two double beds and was huge - perfect for three girls sharing a space. It had a lounge area with a couch as well as a desk. The bathroom was also spacious and nice with good shower products. One thing I will say is that the air conditioning is VERY loud. I shared a bed with my friend that wasn't directly in front of it, but our other friend in the "tundra" was pretty uncomfortable during the night because it was both cold and loud. Other than that, I enjoyed this hotel. They are so kind to give you free water every time you walk in, which is great! read more

The location is great, the staff is welcoming, and the rooms are standard issue functional. I've stayed here on many visits and will continue to return. My favorite part is the abundance of stability balls in the gym. The gym is very good for a hotel (but no bosu or kettlebells) but many many stability balls. read more

We stayed here for 4 nights during our Spring Break. The location is close to downtown and walkable to several restaurants, late-night convenience stores, and coffee of course. Overall a pretty good stay, despite being a smaller hotel and having less amenities than say, a Hyatt Regency or Grand Hyatt hotel. Things we liked: 1. Big, comfy rooms with hardwood floors and two soft, comfy queen beds. My 4yo son and I slept well all four nights, though my wife prefers a firmer mattress. Very good room AC. Unlike California, the housekeeping services the room daily. 2. Great breakfast buffet included with rate, with decent quality and quantity. Pancakes on day, waffles and biscuits and gravy the next. Their Rainforest Classic coffee is bold and smooth. 3. Friendly and helpful staff. Their lobby also has a bar and serves SB coffee. 4. Free, magnetic wireless charging stations for your phone in the lobby. 5 Generally clean and well-maintained facility. Gym has dumbbells, a universal cable machine, and a bunch of Pelotons, Ellipticals, and treadmills. They also have an indoor pool. Things we liked less: 1. Wifi is free and fast but highly unstable. You have to re-login very frequently. 2. Valet parking is $59/night though that's common for the area. The issue is along 3rd St the curb gets packed with cars and occasionally you need to double-park to return your car. The car valets were all excellent though. read more

Stayed for one night in between my next stop but spent most of my time in the room. Standard Hyatt Place set up, spacious. Room window faced east toward the construction. Which Austin is basically one big construction zone. Was only an issue when the jack hammering started at 6:30 AM and I didn't need to be up early. Don't worry eventually fell back asleep. All the staff I interacted with were very nice and helpful. I didn't realize when I booked that there was breakfast downstairs included. I didn't make it so can't tell you the spread/quality. If you need to be in the downtown area not a bad option to keep in mind. read more

The staff was amazing. They greeted me with smiles, and because volume was low they put me into a room with a great view on the 17th floor. Breakfast had every option you can think of! Every member of the staff was so pleasant and helpful. And the room was super clean, everything worked great, plenty of coffee, a mini-fridge, hair dryer and iron, a spacious desk, drawers and wardrobe, and the bed was extremely comfortable. read more

While visiting Austin this past weekend , we stayed at the Hyatt Place in downtown. This hotel is centrally located. You can walk to the nearest restaurant it's about 5-10 minutes walk . It was about a 10-12 minute drive from the airport . We arrived early so they checked in our bags and we got to explore the city . Once it was check-in time we were on our way. We were situated on a high floor which was great . The rooms are very spacious. The bathroom was very nice and clean the only issue I had was the shower . The shower pressure was very light . But other than that I had no issues. Breakfast was served in the mornings , the hotel provides a traditional breakfast eggs, sausage , juice , fruits , bagels or pancakes . If you are looking for something grand then you will have to venture into the city . But the food itself was great . The staff was very nice and helpful they recommend local restaurants that we should visit. When I go back to Austin I will definitely be staying here again . read more

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Place in Downtown Austin when we were in town for a family wedding. I booked it on points. It was about 30 minutes out from the Austin Airport which was a perfect central point for us. We chose it because of the complimentary breakfast since we don't have status with Hyatt, otherwise we would have chosen the Regency across the river. Once we arrived, we were able to check-in right away. I asked where the fitness room was and if there was a water dispenser found there. There was. We didn't need to buy bottled water if we refilled our bottles there. They also provided water in the lobby but it was not meant to refill bottles. The WiFi was also down the first 2 days we were there. I contacted the front desk via text and they said they were aware but did not give any updates. I randomly was able to connect 2 days later. We were given a room on the 15th floor with a view in the direction of the convention center. In fact, we could see the taqueria we frequented from our window. The room was cozy with the soft king-sized bed and pull out sleeper sofa. We did need to request additional pillows and an extra blanket. There was no comforter or heavy blanket provided which we thought was strange since it was January. We slept well on the bed. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was great in the shower. We did not have any issues with hot water. We only had housekeeping come in to clean the room once during our 4-night stay, as that was our preference. The staff was really nice and helpful. We had asked about using the microwave and were told it was in the breakfast area. The daily breakfast was pretty standard continental. The breakfast potatoes were really good. I enjoyed the fresh fruit with my plain yogurt. The coffee was not my favorite but they also offered teas and juices (from concentrate). I was able to find something to eat each morning without fail. If you wanted an espresso based drink, they had a machine but you had to pay extra for a latte or cappuccino. The fitness center and pool area was decently set up. The pool wasn't exactly warm but it was indoor. They had one Peloton bike and a few treadmills. They had a lot of weights and weight benches for use. I was there three mornings of my stay and only had other people working out with me on one of them. Prior to checking out, we asked for late check-out but were told that it was an additional $25 per half hour or something. Understandable but I've never had a fee before. Most places accommodated us for an hour or so and we did not have status with them either. We opted not to do late check-out and checked out of the room on time. We asked the front desk to hold our luggage while we killed some time. We went to the coffee shop across the street for a latte and came back to use the microwave to eat our leftover barbecue prior to heading out to the airport. Since it is so close to the convention center, we saw attendees the entire time we were there. We also encountered a few homeless folks milling about but did not feel unsafe at any time. My friends and I stayed for 3 nights in April. Front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and always helpful. The location was perfect to explore Austin and our corner room was comfortable with 2 beds, floor to ceiling windows and a nice shower. Not much going on in the lobby but they do have a full bar and made some decent espresso martinis. Breakfast was included in our rate but we only ate it once b/c it was kind of mediocre. Plus it's Austin and there are so many great restaurants to try. I preferred to save my stomach space on something amazing than a basic hotel breakfast. We found delectable food within walking distance and had a short ride to the airport. I think only issue was website advertised there was a pool but there isn't one available at this site. Wanted to stay here but the prices were a bit high. My colleagues stayed here and didn't have any complaints. Said it was pretty standard and that it's convenient place to stay. I came here one night for drinks and the next day for a crossaint. The people here were super nice. Probably some of the nicest people I ever met. And it wasn't the over the top "this is my job so I have to be nice" niceness. It genuinely felt like they cared. It was a slow night in the bar so we had a ton of time to chat. They have info on the city but also shared really cool things about life and traveling and such. Happy hour had just finished about 10 minutes ago but they offered to extend it to us after we said we had a long day. FOUR SEASONS PRICES WITH MOTEL 6 SERVICE & TSA LEVEL SUSPICION I've stayed at hotels from boutique inns to luxury such as The Driskill, never have I experienced anything like this overpriced disaster. * $60/night valet but not a single person helped with my bags (and we had a lot) either getting them out of my vehicle or up to the 17th floor. But we had to wait an hour for a cart while they stood there clearly upset that I refus we d to let them take my vehicle while all my stuff remained inside. * My teenage daughter was approached 3x by valet while I brought a portion of my items up to the room, intentionally waiting until I was not there to do this. * There was not 1 bath towel only floor towel used in front of the tub. * Furniture had visible 'stains' of bodily fluid like substances. * A security guard literally followed me everytime I was in his sight like I stole something, so much so even my 9year old made comment. * Multiple attempts to charge for another full night after check out was made to my aaccount * i called to check if there was a pool before we made the reservation and was assured there was, at check in I was told there was no pool on site. However a recent reviewer shows pictures of there actually bring a pool on the premises. * Multiple hairstyles in the tub AND FOR $60 FOR VALET WE WERE GIVEN NO RECEIPT OR TEXT IN ORDER TO REQUEST OUR VEHICLE. I've never felt more disrespected as a paying guest, let alone a mom traveling with children alone. I paid Four Seasons prices to be treated like a criminal. So, we were back again for another tournament in Austin at ACC. This time, we decided to stay at Hyatt Place. We stayed at 1511, which was very comfortable. Breakfast was ok, hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Valet parking is of course expensive but it is to be expected about the hotels in the area. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance: They are pretty strict about the 11am check-out time. Unless you are a higher tier world of Hyatt member, you will be charged $25 for a 12pm checkout, which is very disappointing. This is the first hotel I have stayed at as a member that I was told I had to pay up for the 12pm checkout. They would hold your luggage for you though, if needed. Still on the fence if I would stay here again. read more

Solid 3 stars. Extra star for the above and beyond service. It's not the nicest or newest hotel, but it has all the basics you would need. Bed was medium firmness and comfortable. Shower water pressure was decent. Gym was smallish, but adequate. Location is perfect for attending a conference at the Convention Center a block away. It's also walking distance to many restaurants, congress bridge bats, and an Avis car rental. Parking is valet only with in and out privileges at $52/overnight. read more

Well located and the rooms are decent sized but those are my lone positives. We had a 4 night stay over a UT game weekend so the place was busy. Hyatt has a policy of a full clean every 3 nights and a touch up in between. I would have been ok with that except the touch up didn't even bother to wipe down the bathroom counter or sink. Ick. After day 2, I asked for a full clean which failed to materialize. Other negatives were appallingly bad water pressure and pretty mediocre breakfast and undrinkable coffee. I'm a Hyatt discoverist but this will be dropping off my list of return visits. read more

My co worker arrived before me and was able to check in without me although the reservation was in my name. The front desk associate was extremely helpful. Hotel was not clear on charges, requested a security credit card on file. Which was fine, except when checking out, billed my cc for valet parking $255.48. $64.00 per night, we stayed 2 night. We didn't know this, the booking agent we used on line showed $20.00 per/ night. It only had valet parking we had no choice, my sister and i were in two cars. We don't know our way around the city, we were shocked and i asked Angel Martinez at front desk why were we told $20.00. She didn't know. i will never stay at this hotel again. read more

I have been to numerous Hyatt hotels around the United States. This is one of the worst locations I have ever been to. Lets start off by reviewing the room itself. The room is pretty standard and appears to be decently clean. However, the bathroom had towels thrown on the rack and the execution of the bathroom was poor. It felt as though someone used those towels and threw it onto the rack. There is no housekeeping in the hotel rooms so they ask all guests to take out their own trash and come downstairs if we need any other supplies (soap, towels, etc.). The customer service would receive zero stars if that was possible. The employees were not knowledgeable on simple tasks of checking customers in. The operations manager had a terrible attitude towards my family and certainly made us feel belittled. As previously mentioned, we have stayed in numerous Hyatt hotels prior to this one and we knew the process of checking in. However, the operations manager made it as difficult as possible to do such a simple task because of his attitude. Do yourself a favor and please check out other hotels around the Austin area. There are so many great ones nearby with good customer service and proper housekeeping! read more

Rooms were surprisingly quiet from the 14th floor and the views of the fireworks were perfect. Love the extra space in our corner king room. Thanks for the upgrade. Breakfast was the typical Hyatt buffet. Eggs, bagels, muffins, fruits, coffee and tea. They also offered a breakfast sandwich with bits of pork (no thanks). Parking is available for valet only for $49. Yikes! We parked across the street for $20. Masks recommended. Hand sanitizer was everywhere. Location of the hotel was great and central to visit Austin for the first time! It's also very easy to get to East Austin from this location as well. I would beware that there's a lot of homeless in the downtown area so just be aware of your surroundings when you are roaming the area a few blocks from the hotel. I was highly disappointed by the quality of breakfast served at this hotel. It was complimentary. The juices served are from concentrate, the pancakes tasted like plastic and the tortillas were not fresh and poorly tasted. The only thing edible were the bananas and home fries. My room was pretty clean and quiet. I found the sheets amd comforter to be thin but it wasn't the biggest of deals. Parking is valet only for 52/53 a night. The in and out privileges were very convenient but the parking fee was pretty hefty. I did enjoy the fact that you could text the number and be notified of the wait time to manage your time better. I did find the hotel to be pricey for what is was so I may consider choosing another hotel nice time I visit. Overall i had a decent stay though. read more

Stayed here a night to do some holiday boppin' in Austin with the guy I'm dating. The location is fantastic. It's a short walk to 6th Street, the Austin Convention Center and the State Capitol. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area (Bob's, PF Changs, Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken). The rooms were super comfy--the shower is fancy! Really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast as well. It was hot and fresh with a great selection. Our hotel phone didn't work though. Wanted to call for more blankets but I struggled with the phone for at least 15 minutes. The phone kept turning on and then saying it couldn't connect. I also tried calling the lobby number with my cell phone and it disconnected. Is it the WiFi, maybe? Also they offer overnight garage parking for $49 plus tax which seems super expensive considering how pricy the room was for a night. I recommend using the ParkWhiz app to find cheaper overnight parking (found a place a couple of blocks down for $22). Still a great hotel and I'd definitely stay here again. A nice spot for if you want to get a little crazy on 6th Street. read more

This is a beautiful hotel and overall decent experience. The location is great, centrally located in downtown Austin and within walking distance to some of the coolest bars and restaurants. The staff here is very professional and welcoming, always greeting us as we walked in and out of the building. Our room was great. The bed, big and comfy. The bathroom, spacious with plenty of counter space. I especially like the sitting area with the large couch and ottoman. The towels could be whiter. Walls could be thicker. I heard our next door neighbor snoring every single night and a mother frequently screaming at her children across the hall. I docked one star because we weren't informed until we actually checked in that there wouldn't be any housekeeping during our stay. Granted, if we needed anything, like extra toiletries, towels, etc. we could call the front desk and they would bring it up. Also, a breakfast buffet was promised each morning but what they had available was packaged cereal and pastries, and some fruit. I understand we are going through a pandemic but some rules I just don't understand. The gym was still fully open, 24/7. I made use of the gym since my San Diego blood isn't thick enough to go running outside during this rare Texas cold snap. The gym is decent. A few spaced out cardio machines, a pulley machine with all the attachments, and plenty of free weights. Good enough to burn off some Texas BBQ and make room for more. Parking was also a big disappointment. They only allow valet parking at $50/night. Minus another star. Street parking can be quite limited especially since this area is so busy. We found $10/night parking with in/out privileges about 4 blocks away. Overall, I might stay here again during my next visit to Austin as the location is convenient. read more

Great Location!!! Walking distance to many attractions, bars and restaurants. 6th Avenue and Rainy street to party, Congress Avenue Bridge, State Capitol, Rooftops and so much more... On top of that room was very comfortable, with a sitting area included. Clean, stocked with plenty of towels, shampoo, soaps, coffee. And if you needed anything else you could just call front desk or go over to get it. Breakfast was included also (until 10am), and it wasn't just your usual "continental breakfast", they offered eggs, bacon or sausage, home potatoes, french toast, pancakes, cereal, bagels, oatmeal, juices, teas and, of course, coffee. Also love the security of the hotel. To go to any floor you need your room key and after 11pm or midnight, you also need your key to get in the hotel. And front desk staff was always available and very friendly. Only downside is the high parking fee, $49/ night. Other than that, I 100% recommend this hotel for your Austin trip/ stay. read more

What a great location! This hotel is in the center of everything. The staff is very friendly & helpful. There were 4 of us and they were kind enough to let us do an early check in. The lobby looked very holiday festive and clean. The room was larger than I expected and loved the living room situation. We spent our first night out to dinner but then came back to the hotel lobby bar and just enjoyed some good conversation. River & Aeri we're our hosts, very friendly. The next morning, we learned there was a complimentary breakfast for guests, double plus good! If I find myself coming back to Austin, I may return to this place as it's so conveniently located in the heart of downtown. There's even a little Bodega across the street for any of your last minute needs. We stayed for the whole weekend and was able to easily walk to many restaurants (steak houses & food trucks everywhere!) and shopping. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did! read more

Pros: Loved the location, room size, and friendliness of the staff. Plenty of restaurants nearby and walking distance to explore downtown. Cons: $50 mandatory valet parking fee (a bit out of line with the $25-30 norm in the area.) In room refrigerator not working and no one ever showed up to fix or swap out. No housekeeping during our stay as they are short staffed, and the included breakfast is continental grab and go with no protein option. Gym was very dirty and littered at 6:30am. Despite the cons I would consider staying here again for a 1-2 night at a more discounted price. read more

Great weekend stay. Overall great value and I would stay here again. The staff were all very friendly, everything was clean, location is great, and rooms are awesome. Check in and out is all digital, so I was able to check in when my plane landed, and my room was ready by the time I got to the hotel. For checkout, I was able to leave the hotel and grab brunch, and then check out via my phone - never having to stand in line. Love that! The rooms have a great living room space area that adds to the relaxed feel. Bed was comfy with multi pillow options. The views were gorgeous from the 15th floor and I loved that the bed was next to the window so you can lounge in bed and stare out at the view. The breakfast is good grab and go, with options like bagels, pastries, hot breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, yogurt, juices etc. They have a nice area to eat or just relax by that dining area. The neighborhood around the hotel is safe, with a ton of good restaurants and bars. The grocery across the street is even open early and late with essentials for travel and food. There were people constantly coming and going in the hotel, but it never felt too crowded (though it seems booked up). The fitness center is nice. The pool is indoor, and there is seating if you want to relax in a pool area, it's inside so more fitness feel than pool feel. There are some computers in the first floor lobby area though I didn't use them. TV doesn't get a ton of channels, for those that enjoy being in the room. There is a nice sized mini fridge in the room, as well as a closet and safe. They stock the bathroom with travel amenities and lots of towels. read more

Had a very nice stay here for a leisure trip. Great location that's within walking distance of capitol, tons of restaurants and the convention center. Shout out to Elle who works at the front desk. It's great to have wonderful service when you check in and are walking through the lobby. The room was comfortable. The gym has all the amenities to get a good basic workout in. Treadmills, 1 machine, benches and free weights. The only thing that I don't love is the downtown hotels charging $50/night for parking. There is no reason why the parking should cost 40-50% of the cost of the hotel room. Although I will say the service that they use is great. You can just text them to pull your car around and they let you know when it'll be out front. read more

I flew in from LA and spent two nights at Hyatt House Austin / Downtown recently (3/19-3/21). I booked it for two reasons, it was close to where I needed to be for filming and my first choice, a place I had stayed before, didn't have rooms available at a rate that worked for my budget. I was given a warm welcome when I checked in and everything about the hotel that I might need to know including how breakfast worked. A request I had made for non-feather pillows and bedding hadn't been received prior to my arrival but they were very apologetic and within minutes of me getting to my room, the issue was resolved. I hadn't even had time to unpack my bag or make a coffee... it was THAT fast. The same person checked me in that checked me out and she was exemplary. She's a real credit to the hotel and deserves recognition as the service I received from her was as way above the hotel's grade and better than I have received at more "swanky" hotels. Very knowledgeable about the area too when it came to recommendations. I didn't catch her name, unfortunately. My room was quiet, spotless and comfortable and I had pretty much everything I needed. Zero complaints. A lot of people's reviews have mentioned the area around the hotel. Sure, it's a little baron in the immediate area and there's a stretch of Neches St down to Sixth Street that is a little sketchy BUT if you walk down to Red River St (one block down the hill), that's perfectly fine and there are also a plethora of great places to eat and drink along there too. I recommend Hoboken Pie and Koriente. I also sampled the hotel bar (which has a limited but totally acceptable food menu and a decent range of drinks) and it was a very pleasant experience. It's great for an early nightcap or to just shoot the breeze with fellow guests - again, the staff member working the bar was great too. There's also a "nook" where you can buy snacks and soft drinks or beer as well as basic travel essentials. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat if I needed to be downtown. I felt genuinely welcome and appreciated as a guest and not as if I was just another body in a bed with some money in my wallet. A great team and great stay. read more

The location is great, it's pretty central in downtown and it's easy to get to East Austin. If you're here for a conference this will also be a decent place to stay if all you're worried about is showering and sleeping, however if you're looking for a hotel with a well curated and decorated lobby with rooms to match -- this ain't it. You can tell where they're cutting corners, for instance I reached for a towel and the towel rack completely fell off. The sheets are pretty thin and the bed is alright, the shower is lackluster and the TV is dated, and the cherry on top was a huge stain on the sectional couch. However my biggest gripe is how they handled a lost item. I called about an hour after check out to see if they could locate my iPad since I could see that it was still at the hotel via checking on Apple's Find My Device app. they "checked" and said that house cleaning didn't find it. My boyfriend went back in person to get the ipad and AGAIN they said that they didn't find it. Eventually they let him go up to look for it but it wasn't there. Somehow it ended up on the repairman's cart (maybe he was in there to fix the towel rack but one hour after we checked out? I highly doubt that). I didn't appreciate this at all. Granted it was my fault for leaving my ipad behind but don't lie and give us runaround to to get our items back. read more

I'm currently staying there and I love love love it here. Quiet beautiful room; GREAT employees. The free breakfast is very good. Very central location and lots to do and see within walking distance. This will be my hotel of choice in future visits to Austin, TX. One suggestion, across from my room I can see into the workers area when the door is open. There are blue recycling containers there that I use to recycle plastic bottles, but in the evening that area is closed. I suggest adding some by the ice machine. I see plastic bottles being left in the garbage cans by the elevators. Having recycling containers out for customers would be great for customers and employees (less sorting for employees.) If you want to be wrongly charged for wifi when it's free (front desk only admitted their mistake when confronted), stay here. I stayed here for a work trip recently. The hotel is located right in the middle of downtown Austin. World famous 6th Street is a short 5 minute walk away. The hotel lobby was modern, clean, and we were welcomed by the friendly staff. I was very impressed with my room. It was spacious and spotless. The king bed room featured a separate sitting area with a sofa. The bathroom had a back lit mirror and a stand alone shower. read more
