Always saw it just as we loaded up our groceries. This time we decided to go in, eat then grocery shop. Wonderful decision. The food was outstanding and the service was just the friendliest. Why the wife ordered the same as me is still being pondered. We usually order differently at a new place just to see. Chori pollo for us both. Wonderful time. Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. They have a lot of different options to choose from that aren't usually on other menus, as well. One of my favorites is Pollo Hongos, which is grilled chicken and sauteed mushrooms with a thin cheese sauce over it (a thick, gloppy sauce would be too heavy so I love that it's not too thick). In addition to free chips and salsa they also serve you a complimentary bean dip upon being seated that's refried beans with a bit of queso dip mixed in. I love this place! My husband and I are transplants from California and we are used to really good cantina Mexican food. We had searched high and low and then found Casa Grande! They have a huge menu, literally anything you want they have. So, high points are the spicy salsa, you have to ask for it because they don't serve it automatically, the Baja shrimp tacos and all their fajitas. I have mostly concentrated my eating in those areas. So. Darn. Good. Everything is fresh and hot and deliciously seasoned. Chips are also piping hot and served with bean dip and mild salsa (ask for the spicy one it's so much better). Chips are good, rice is moist and flavorful all the toppings are yummy. Mmmmm so good! Lastly is the staff. They hustle so fast, everyone is working their tails off to take care of all the diners. They will happily speak Spanish with you if you want. My husband and I both speak Spanish and it's a joy to find people happy to chat with us. This place is so popular people will wait in the rain to eat the food. I highly recommend. Yummy! I always go for tacos autenticos when I try a New Mexican restaurant. I need to know you can do the basics before I get wild. We went on a Wednesday for a boozy lunch. They had $3 margs all day. What a deal! They set you up with salsa, beans dip and chips and you can keep them coming. The regular marg was great! They garnish them with fun fruit (I LOVE FRUIT). I had a sip of my friends strawberry margarita and it was delicious! Most of the time people can make them very sweet. This one was perrrrfect. My tacos were exactly what I needed. I got the tacos al pastor, which can only be found on their street taco menu that you have to ask for. The food came out quickly and was piping hot. Well ive eaten at all the Mexican restaurants in Cookeville as well as many other Mexican restaurants so i have many comparisons to go by not just this one! Always look at a yelpers other reviews and see what kind of places they eat at, also to see if their taste matches yours. Perhaps you have eaten at some of the same places and you just dont agree w their opinion of those places. Worst service I have ever received anywhere. Waiter had a nasty attitude the entire time as if we were bothering him by dining there. Multiple items that were ordered were incorrect they brought us something else entirely and when we mentioned it they were acting as if it were our fault. We asked for more chips and the waiter told us to relax they were coming. Didn't have a good experience last time thought it might be just a one off but this place is just awful. Today we stopped in for lunch and walked out without eating a bite of our food. The waiter a young short guy had such an attitude he ruined the entire lunch. My wife ordered the combo taco and tamale. There was some misunderstanding about what she ordered but rather than clarifying the waiter said he would charge extra for rice. All we asked for was to have and pay for a combo but he refused and said he would charge extra for rice. Rather than trying to resolve the issue his small man complex took over and he continued to argue and say it was our fault. When we asked to speak to the manager he said he was the only one there which was a lie because the hostess identified herself as the manager. When I explained the issue to her the so called waiter said he would pay for our food. We will never return to this place all because of a crappy employee. How stupid to lose customers because an employee is unwilling to listen. read more

The food is fresh like it was made in momma's kitchen and a less americanized taste than most of the other Mexican Restaurants in the area. They bring out bean & cheese dip with the chips & salsa. I went for lunch last week. It was okay. I ordered enchiladas. One of my pet peeves is when they don't leave them in the broiler long enough to melt the cheese inside, but mine was melted all the way through. They brought out cheese dip (?) with the chips, which was included with my meal. Someone had used the same utensil for the refried beans, so I guess I had bean and cheese dip.
