My friends and I went to Romo's for the first time for lunch today. What a wonderful experience. We were sat and brought chips and a carafe of salsa with individual bowls, double dip all you want. My friend ordered the large watermelon margarita and the Texas Rice. She brought home half of it because it was a very generous portion of food. Another friend had the Burrito De La Cassa and a sweet tea. I had the Super Burrito and a sweet tea. I bought home half of my Burrito because I ate my rice and salad... It was delicious. We are all talking about our next visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience. There were several children in the restaurant and it was quiet. Definitely will return again soon. read more

Initially walking in we were not greeted. We sat ourselves. We approached the counter because we only wanted to place a Togo order and even placing that the cashier seemed to have an attitude and wasn't friendly until we asked him how his day was going. Food was pretty good. It's better than some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area. The tortilla shells that were given with the fajitas were hard and cold. We don't live far from Romo's, so I wouldn't think we would need to reheat our food once gettin home, but we did. No biggie! I come to Tennessee once a year and make my way to Romo's for their molcajete. I was pleasantly surprised on how tasty it was. Thoroughly enjoyed it and with the leftovers made breakfast adding scrambled eggs. Yum! read more

Very good Mexican restaurant that has l no issues tweaking certain plates for your liking. Nachos and Salsa were very good, I didnt do any of the ordering. However they ordered fried Jalapenos which I highly recommend as they were delicious. The business partners ordered a veggie spicy fried rice which was good, although too spicy for me to handle. read more

This place is so bad, it's not even good tex mex! run run far away. my chile relleno was tasteless, my husband said his taco combination plate was just ok-we hardly ate anything. nephews though loved the crazy chicken plates. now we can move onto the margarita!! it looks like sewer water, waiter said the color was because of the tequila?? uuhhhhh, ok! He stirred it up with my straw like that would make it taste like anything resembling a margarita i didn't drink it but my brother said he wouldn't let it to to waste, i'm sure his stomach didn't appreciate that. staff were nice, but even when your chips and salsa are mediocre there's no coming back from that! read more

My husband ate there yesterday & left a $4 tip for his $10.96 bill. They charged our card $19.96...a $9 tip almost surpassing the bill itself. Absolutely ridiculous considering it was almost a 40% tip to begin with...will never eat here again. Hope the extra $5 was worth the loss of customers. read more

Stopped by while traveling and couldn't have picked a better place! Right off I-40 and easy to get to! Food was yummy and portion sizes were huge (see pictures). Ordered the #4 Combo which consisted of two chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans. I ended up biting down on a bone in literally the first bite of my enchilada. I almost cracked my tooth as a result and could not finish my food. The person I ate with ordered the Chori-Pollo special; they also found a bone in their food. This is the place to go if you want truly authentic and fresh Mexican food. When you walk in you will notice the beautiful decor from the beautiful barrel chairs with hand painted designs on the back to the gorgeous table top pictures. The colorful decor and charming details are not as overstated as you find at most Mexican places. There were lots of staff so we never felt we were left unattended. Even with it being a Saturday and busy the restaurant was kept very clean. Loved the salsa came in a bottle with two separate bowls for each of us with fresh chips. I liked the idea of separate salsa bowls simple because if you like to mix queso you can or if you double dip, no worries because you have your own bowl. Our food arrived fast & was very fresh. The portions were very generous. They did have lots of options I haven't seen before here. Loved the fact they had a whole section for vegan so if you just want the veggies it's there for you. The desert section had more options as well. This place used high quality ingredients and definitely fresh. I'm so glad we tried this place and will be back. read more

Very Good!!! We stopped for a bite on the way home from Jonesborough & so happy we did!! The reviews were right. Margarita & Guacamole were outstanding. I asked for flour chips as they weren't on the menu & they delivered! Hot, crispy wonderful flour chips!! I had a carnitas chimichanga which had onions & gr pepper (like a fajita) & my hubby's shrimp enchiladas were outstanding! Shrimp was very flavorful & cooked perfectly! My latest visit was very disappointing. The food was delicious but the service was awful. Our food was brought out one plate at a time. My friend was half way done with his food by the time I actually received mine (About 10 minutes). My order was supposed to come with rice and beans but I only received rice. Our server never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. We paid and left and I noticed I was overcharged for my meal. I have been to this location and the one in crossville multiple times, but I don't think I will be returning any time soon after this incident. read more

Some Friends took me out to dinner here, As I have already eaten at the Crossville location I kinda knew what to expect. The decor and food was authentic, service was good for the most part but I won't touch on that at this moment. I ordered the House Burrito and it was absolutely delicious, so much so I almost ordered another to go! Now about the service..... While our server was friendly and attentive he kind of gave me a bit of grief over the fact that I ordered my house burrito with no veggies, saying I should eat veggies as it's healthy for me.....Look I'm an adult and I will order my food the way I like it and don't need a server telling me what I should and shouldn't eat, that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Made our 3rd and final trip to the new Romo's Cookeville location last night. We had a party of 9, and upon telling the hostess this we were greeted with a very loud and aggravated SIGH. We were sat at a table that would not fit all 9 of us, and then when I suggested that we move, and use a table and booth to split the party, the hostess rolled her eyes in annoyance and smacked her hand down on the counter. No thanks! For the very average food, and the VERY poor service we have had all 3 trips, we will NOT be going back. MUCH better food and EXCEPTIONAL service at many other Cookeville Mexican Food restaurants available. read more

Me and my family went here after church for a Sunday lunch. My grandmother and my great aunt got there before we did and were seated. We went in and were sitting for 40 minutes before anyone asked us what we wanted to drink or eat. The Resturant is very nice and clean. Service was acceptable. Drink refills were slow coming. Food was ok but nothing exceptional. The portions served were good size. My friends got tamales and they said they were not good, too much breading just like from out of a box. I had heard that this place was GREAT! But I can not say that.
