The food was good. The atmosphere was welcoming but we were overcharged. My husband was handed the bill. It was $46 and some change. I gave a cash tip. He used his credit card to pay. The upchargewas nearly $1.50. No big deal but he looked at the receipt the next day only to see that they added abot $9.50 for a tip on his card. Beware, they will rip you off. If you go look over the bill carefully. We will not be back. Big difference between the bill he was first handed and the receipt he got after paying the bill. read more

The food was honestly delicious me and my dad went there for lunch We both decided to get the mixed fajitas lunch special and it was really good. It didn't have the sizzling drama of some fajitas but the taste was just right! The highlight of our lunch may have been the top shelf picture of Margaritas Oh man they were good! We decided to have lunch at this establishment because it had 4.5 stars. We were seated promptly when we arrived but it was over 10 minutes before someone came with chips & salsa. Then almost another 5 minutes after that before a waiter came to take food and drink orders. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived. One waiter brought us someone else's food. Then our waiter brought us my food which arrived before my mom's order. I waited for her food to arrived before we started eating. Over all just dissatisfied with the service. Because this is a newly opened business, we waited until we started hearing some chatter about the place before we went. Because this restaurant is in Cookeville, it has a liquor licence, so beer and mixed drinks are served. Down the road in Algood, that option isn't available. Cookeville has quite a few Mexican restaurants to choose from, but the article in the paper gave a nice write up and it also good reviews from friends. So we decided to give it a try. First impressions were the friendly, friendly staff, the cleanliness, the decor and murals, and the menu. We did not feel like we were in Cookeville! The server was very nice and approached us with some basic Spanish, which I appreciated and communicated back with him. We ordered and munched on some good salsa and chips while our food was being prepared. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed a sign that said that all drafts were $1.60 (16 oz) after 3 p.m. and that the 12 oz. margaritas were $3.49. I liked that! So we ordered Dox XX amber. The food arrived in different waves, not all together. The presentation was nice. But our substitutions were incorrect. But because the owner and server were so nice, we overlooked it. :) I had the fish/shrimp tacos (3 flour tortillas with only seasoned tilapia and only seasoned shrimp in the tortillas), rice, and pico. My husband had the chicken fajitas. Both were very tasty, but for the money, I would get a fish or shrimp fajita instead of the "fish" tacos because they were just too plain and looked quite skimpy in the flour tortillas without anything else. When we got it home the order was missing several items and had several parts of not ordered items. No problem, things happen. However when I called I was told I had not ordered the missing items. Awful. The food was flavorless. My nachos were soggy. My Mexican style tacos came in a hard shell that was cracked. Save your money and go to casa grande or cinco amigos. 100 times better. We are from out of town ( other side of the Country). Went in for lunch yesterday. I usually order two chimichangas ( no beans no rice ) and end up taking one home for later. Update: Sept 2017-Gave it another shot and was very pleasantly surprised. Everything we had was very tasty, with the queso dip being outstanding. Salsa was also very good. I had a comb dinner with a beef burrito, chicken enchilada, and chalupa; all were good. My mother also had a combo platter that included a stuffed poblano pepper that tasted freshly made and was the best we've ever had. Increased my rating to 4 stars.....July 2017: I have only eaten here once, approx 3 weeks ago. I remember thinking the food was good, but nothing outstanding; I honestly cannot even recall what the dish was that I ordered. My dinner companion felt the same way; good food, nothing to write home about. This may be somewhat due to us ordering dishes we hadn't had before versus something we knew we would like. I would be happy to try something else on the menu. The queso dip and salsa was tasty, as was the iced tea. The menu is very large; so large that we had a hard time deciding what to order, but at least you have a lot of variety to choose from. Server was friendly, but seemed new, so he had no advice on what was good to order, etc. Maybe it was the day we went, but it seemed to take a long time for someone to come and take our money at the register.
