This place is honestly one of the worst Mexican places I've been to. And it was the worst restaurant ambience I've ever experienced. Stopped at Victors based on an add they had posted in their window. Once inside I tried to order the special and was told it didn't include the (4) Al Pastor tacos as advertised. I still ordered the special and when it arrived, the tacos were street tacos (small) but had next to no meat, just lots of onions and cilantro some kind of mix they make. In addition, the lime wedges were cut so thin, they are useless to squeeze any kind of juice that it may have had. No salsa or hot sauce was provided either. Walked out still hungry. read more

My wife comes here often and loves the food here. I got to try it for the first time a few months ago and I am now a fan as well. The carne asada tacos were absolutely delicious and the queso and chips were very tasty as well. Their mild tomatillo salsa was very tasty and I would take that home if I could. Victor's Taco Shop in Cookville is a real find. I've been looking for a place to get a chorizo breakfast burrito, specifically chorizo, egg, cheese and potato. They did not disappoint. Although we moved here from the West end I've been here for six months and I've driven by this place It's somehow had stayed hidden from us. But Friday I finally walked in its door and it's a hit on all points. First off cleanliness. This place was spotless very well cleaned and maintained. Specials posted and menu board easy to read. Very reasonable prices. Tables well spaced for the current conditions. We received a very friendly greeting. That feeling of caring continued throughout our meal. And the food definitely did not disappoint. I got my breakfast burrito my wife got her taco salad plus we got a side order of chips with delicious queso sauce. Victor's has become my go-to since moving back to Cookeville. Rolled tacos smothered in guac and the pastor & fish tacos are amazing. The fish tacos are a marked contrast from the usual fish-sticks-in-a-soggy-tortilla that other places around here tend to serve. The service is always quick and the employees are very friendly and eager to help you figure out what to get if you aren't sure. The menu is varied enough that you can get something different every time you go -- though I always get the same thing -- it's sooooo good. If you've been to a similarly-name taco shop in the Franklin/Nashville area (starts with an "O") it's similar fair, just better. Give Victor's a try. read more

I had the chicken nachos which were on special for 5.99. I liked them and it was enough food, really, to share. I will say that I didnt like the toppings here as much as what you would find at a traditional restaurant like cinco amigos or el tap. I would probably choose those places over victors (at least for nachos) because here if you want lettuce, tomato, etc you do have to pay extra to add it. I believe my nachos came with sour cream, beans, meat(chicken), and pico. Then they have salsa you put on yourself. It was still quite good though and very convenient to campus. I will note that if you dont get the special I think the prices are quite high. So expect to pay around $10 read more

Edited review: Okay. I've given Victor's Taco Shop three chances. Tonight was the last time I'll eat there. My food was cold when it was handed to me, continuing the trend. Enough said. Let me preface this rating by saying that this is based on a delivery, and I might reconsider after eating in. I ordered cheese enchiladas and shrimp nachos. Two cheese enchiladas without sides just aren't enough food for me. I live pretty close, but the food was cold when it arrived. I can't blame the delivery driver. My food was in an insulated bag. When I cut into the enchiladas, the cheese wasn't even melted. The flavors were good. The nachos were, too, but again were barely warm. This is a new restaurant next to crepes and creme next to Tennessee Tech. The restaurant is clean, the menu is easy to follow for a first time visitor and the prices are reasonable! If you come here, there is only one thing you need to order...every. single. time. El Pastor. I don't care if you have it in a burrito or in a taco or as dessert; you must get the el pastor. It is amazing! The flavor of the pork is succulent & with just the right spice level. It's also moist & not dried out. If I were to be picky about the el pastor burrito, I would prefer a lot less onion in my pico de gallo & more guacamole on the burrito, but I love the pork so much that the rest matters little. I am in love! My husband also likes the California burrito. And we enjoyed the steak breakfast burrito & chorizo breakfast burrito. (If you get breakfast burritos, they have a deal for a breakfast burrito & either orange juice or a fountain drink for only $4.50! ) One afternoon, my brother-in-law ordered the two taco plate with a shrimp taco & fish taco & said the shrimp was bland but the fish was better; not the greatest fish taco he'd ever had but good enough.
