Okayyy so we picked baton rouge as it was the closest and also the one that had a spot for us on a Friday night. As we walked in we were greeted by the hostess.. She was nice to us but to the folks in front of us (who were not in the same family house) she was pretty mean and obnoxious to... I mean if theyre on a date and they don't live together yet .. thats kinda tough to go out on dates if you only accept the 1 household bubble rule.. just didn't like the way she treated the people before us.. for us it was simple we got our spot pretty quickly with a reservation indeed. We sat near the exit with less people so it was great. Our waiter came in a jiffy got some Bloody Marry's and rum and coke for the hubby it was really delish!!! Definitely recommend the bloody marry's ! We decided to eat healthy .. so we sticked with the salad meal as our dinner with grilled chicken it was good but next time ill ask for the dressing on the side it was drenched in dressing and didn't feel so light ! The grilled chicken was good ! My husband had the sante fe dish pretty good he said! Chicken breast was cooked nice and the goat cheese was yummy I ever snatched a few bites. Overall service and food was great quick and super attentive.. I just wished the hostess would be more understanding and kinder to the customers walking in even if they don't know all the rules that keep changing every single day.. at least be more polite and make them feel welcomed instead of shaming them.. in the end without customers you wouldn't have a job... so be kind and respectful ! We might go back the waiter and the food were +++++5!!! So maybe talk to your hostess !

The place is really hard to fine you definitely need the address if you don't want to get lost. We didn't have an address before we did some research on Google and finally found a street where it was on. When you first get in it's very dark because I don't believe the entrance have a window. It only took a minute or two before someone came to help us get seated. When we arrived we were the first customer in the place but when we received our meal it was a lovely couple that arrived. Of course we had to order the plates that we did. After all we did come for the steak. The steak was very good perfectly cooked, For some reason I ate my entire frie it was so good honestly I could've ordered an extra side of frie. The price is definitely a bit more expensive than where I usually go but I don't mind spending on quality food. The place where we were seated had beautiful window and you could see the beautiful landscape in the back. It was a nice wooded area kind of made me feel like in twilight. I will definitely come again and next time I will order a side of Frie.

Is the smoked meat better than Schwartz's? That's up for debate, but I'd say in quality it's about tied. From there it is a matter of taste, and if you want more pepper, you'll definitely prefer it here. Everything here is fantastic. I had roasted chicken on my recent visit and we loved it. Again, the pepper crust is almost a stapple here. I love the coleslaw here. They struck a balance between the vinaigrette and creamy approach. The potato salad is great and the fries are fresh cut. But here's what really stands out above all, and at this point I'm comparing to ANY bbq place are their beef ribs. They are possibly my favourite. Aside from being great quality and perfectly smoked, the BBQ sauce they use is unlike any other. It's darker and for a second almost reminds you of Teriyaki, but it's also quite different. It really is it's own thing. You can use that sauce on about any meat, but it really is magic with their ribs. Note: free ice cream cones for kids!

I totally recommend this place if you're looking for a nice place for coffee and dessert. You walk in and feel like you have been transported to a restaurant in France. Beautiful French music flowing in the room, and the place is so lovely decorated. We ordered the lime cake cheesecake (chefs choice) and the lava chocolate cake. OMG they were both divine. I am not a sweet lover by nature but man taking one bite and you felt like you died and went to heaven. Everything was superb. It was also well presented. I love that this restaurant has personality because it's actually in a old house with four different dining rooms which were literally rooms in the house. The supper crowd was mainly older Anglophone folks from the West Island. Personally every man in there had grey hair... I'm pretty sure the women did too but they tend to hide greys better :) Upon being seated, the waiteress brought a special occasion drink for us to celebrate our anniversary. I had the Mimosa with a flower in it. I noticed that they brought complimentary drinks to others as well so perhaps it's just something they do regardless of the occasion you put when making a reservation. Anyway that was a super special touch that I appreciated! For the amuse-bouche, we had these crackers with what I think was whipped foie gras. Very interesting taste with lots of texture. For the appetizers, we had the mackerel and the walnut crusted cheese. Mackerel is a challenging fish to master but I thought that they did a great job; I would have liked a little bit more of the cream sauce because the portion was large but otherwise very good. The walnut crusted goat cheese was also delicious though I'm not a big fan of goat cheese. For the mains, my fiancé wanted them to surprise him with the choice of between the fish of the day and the fish that was on their menu, the Dover sole. They picked the latter. After preparing the fish they brought the whole fish on a plate to show us and then they whisked it away to debone it and brought back just the filets. My main dish was the most exciting ever! They brought me the filet mignon steak to show me and then went over to the flambé station. They doused my steak in flambéd peppercorn sauce. Oh boy, I enjoyed the sauce so much I begged like Oliver Twist "Please, sir, can I have some more?" Luckily they didn't chase me down or beat me up like in the movie!! Instead, they brought me a gravy boat with more sauce!! :) Although they wouldn't tell me the ingredients in the sauce because it was their secret sauce. The dessert was a lovely bruléed maple ice cream. And I especially loved the final touch which was juicy, candied cherries coated in dark chocolate. Overall a very lovely and classy French dining experience without having to put on airs because you feel right at home in the Surcouf house!! :)

We were a party of 6 and nobody's plate looked appetizing. When the waitress brought my husband's plate, she spilled some white sauce on the floor and the whole bowl was dirty. Instead of returning it to the kitchen, she served it to him. About ten minutes later, she came to clean the floor and then wiped her hands on pants. My margarita was very good until I reached 1 inch from the bottom and surprisingly got a mouthful of pure salt in my mouth. I mentioned it to the waiter and he said, "well, sometimes it happens". It does???? I never had that experience in my life! The general tao chicken was the worse looking glob I had ever seen. All clumped up, tough and overcooked. It looked like a mess of tangled octopus legs. As a few people mentioned in their reviews, most of the food tasted like frozen stuff that was thrown in the oven (microwave?) just to heat up and serve. Unfortunately, I kept comments to myself because it was for a birthday party. I only discovered that everyone had the same opinion about their meal and there was not one good comment from them either. Overpriced is an understatement. Were were all in good company, but it would have been so much better if we had tasty food.

Upon entering and sitting down, I felt that I was in a 100% francophone brasserie since everyone there (customers and staff) were speaking French and you will probably not find anyone there speaking English. Everyone in my party ordered a hamburger steak with fries so I did likewise. Some of my co-workers decided to have a beer but I was fine with water. Brasserie Dorion seems to function like 2 separate businesses. There is the bar and there is the restaurant portion. The server who takes the order for the drinks and brings the drinks is a different server from the one who takes the order for the food and brings the food. Also, when it comes time to pay your bill, you are also paying each and tipping each separately. The hamburger steak was good. The fries were also good. The sauce was good as well. It came with a small piece of individually wrapped bread which was okay. It was good and the price was right. Price including taxes and tip came to ~$15. Their menu showed the price including taxes so all you need to do is add the tip. This is a cash only establishment which I'm not really a fan of. I do go to cash only places but generally prefer it if they accept credit/debit cards. They do have a generic ATM machine but I generally try to avoid those types of ATM machines because of the large transaction fees. There was plenty of free parking on the day that we went.

This place is about short proximity supplies of great quality, natural, organic food. They grow their own beef, control the process at the slaughterhouse and sell it directly to the public. The meat is individually wrap and frozen quickly to make sure that the quality remain high. This enable them to offer a wide choice of cuts and the vacuum packing enables quick unfreezing in cold water. On this nice spring day, we settle to have our first bbq of the season but our plan was rather a late one... we didn't have a bbq and it was 4 pm and stores were closing at 5 pm on this Saturday. After stoping in Hudson to buy a charcoal Weber (with charcoal) we asked the store if they knew of a butcher in town and one of the girl directed us vaguely to this producer. We got there at 4:30 pm and were greeted by a nice and very enthusiastic woman who gladly showed us their variety of cuts available. For our bbq, we settle on a great porterhouse steak which she suggested would take about an hour to unfreeze in cold water. We also bough some bacon and fresh eggs. At home, we unfroze the steak while assembling the bbq and proceeded to cook our steak. A porterhouse is a higher quality t-bone and is big enough to share (a part of it is the "filet mignon"). I shared the sirloin part with my partner (who had a small part with her salmon) and our son got the filet mignon. It was probably the tastier piece of meat I ever had in North America! We followed up with bacon and eggs on the next morning and it was absolutely great. They don't produce their own pork and chickens but source it from nearby places they know and they make sure that those follow the same organic, humane process that they do for their beef. An awesome place to know and we will be back often. My philosophy with meat is that it is better to eat less of it but when you do, source it with high quality. This place makes it possible and easy to do for us! They also have a place in Terrebonne for those that find it more convenient.

Our reservation was for 7, and the parking lot is very small--there was literally no space available, so we had to park on the street. When we were seated, I noticed my last name written on the table, which was a very nice and thoughtful touch. Service overall was good and professional. However, for the price you pay, they seem a bit understaffed. The restaurant is small enough that you can get your server's attention, but some service details were slightly lacking. That said, the person refilling water was 10/10--super attentive. Another thing worth mentioning is the noise level. It can get very loud, making it hard to have a conversation. It would be nice if they added some kind of soundproofing or noise-reduction panels. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is excellent, but the loud atmosphere takes away from the experience a bit. As for the food--everything was excellent. I had the salmon, and my partner ordered the 1855 Black Angus, which literally melted in your mouth. It was incredibly soft and juicy--spectacular. The bread service is a must-try; we're still thinking about it! I also loved the "blackboard" menu featuring seasonal or weekly specials--very unique and a nice touch. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. There are a few minor things that could be improved, but I would definitely go back because the food was exceptional.
