Soaking up the sun in peace and quiet!

Wow! Boy did I stumble upon a gem of a place! This is a hidden treasure in the desert! Such a cool place with an eclectic vibe! The grounds are well maintained and lovely! Room was spotless and filled with cool furniture! Laid out my the pool and soaked up the sun in peace and quiet! I will not be staying anywhere else! This place was a little slice of heaven! All around wonderful place!

Outdoor evening shot at Casa Larrea, Palm Desert! There is so much detailing here, one photo doesn't capture all.

Wow, what a hidden treasure! Definitely exceeded my expectations. I'm over Sofitel, Hiltons, Marriott's etc., this quaint quirky little place felt like paradise. Nice sized pool, lots and lots of attention to little details around the property. Kim, takes great pride in her little oasis off El Paseo. Little seating area outside rooms private patio on the back end on my side. The pergola and vines shading the front and openings out to the large pool and lots of places to lounge, tables and chairs even a a swinging sofa canopy thing. A barbecue behind a seated bar area, jacuzzi, water features and soft smooth jazz adding to the ambiance. What a way to relax!! I highly recommend Casa Larrea Inn to anybody just looking for a relaxing get away, no kids, no noise, no frills, just relaxation! I have give mention to cleanliness too... the rooms are so clean!!

Quiet and Classic is Casa Larrea

Quiet and Clean are two words I would use to sum up the Casa Larrea Inn. My husband and I were looking for a nice quiet place to stay for a couple of nights after our son's wedding. This fit the bill perfectly. We were the only guests there! Our hosts made us feel completely at home. Our room was sparkling clean and even included a little kitchen that was fully stocked. The Inn is a single story with all the rooms situated around a sparklingly clean pool. There is a continental breakfast in the morning but with extras such as boiled eggs. Big fluffy pool towels were provided for our use as well. The Inn feels like it's right out of the 50s or 60s but hasn't been made into a "hipster " hangout like so many other classic motels in recent years. We'll be back!

We first stayed with Kim and Frank seven years ago during the tennis tournament at Indian Wells. One time is all it takes! Now Casa Larrea is our "desert home away from home". Kim is the most fantastic hostess; Alan is her assistant and is a super-helpful friendly guy. There are only a dozen rooms, and it seems like everyone you meet has stayed there before. And when you return next year, it's a family reunion. You'll never mistake Casa Larrea for the sterile decor of a big-name resort. Lots of clever spaces, flowers, and lawn sculptures near the pool; enjoy the shade or sunshine. It's a wonderful sense of community, all sharing this wonderful secret hiding place on Larrea Street. Folks offering to share the adult beverages they brought with them, and Kim offering up a fine breakfast table every morning. If you want some extra privacy, the rooms have nice patios in the rear, quiet air conditioners and ceiling fans to keep you comfortable. Every room has at least a refrigerator and microwave oven, many have kitchenettes. The WiFi has been upgraded and works well. Walking distance from all of the great places in the heart of Palm Desert. We had a few cocktails then decided to have dinner and see at movie at Westfield shopping center. Don't risk a DUI, it's an easy walk or a quick $4 Über ride. Absolutely my favorite place to stay when I'm not at my own house! Tell Kim that Gloria's husband sent you. So what differentiates this from other Palm Springs area resorts? The service, by far. The property is phenomenal and the upkeep and maintenance is good, on par with other places. For example, at the pool, we found straws from the previous guest, etc. not a deal breaker, but something to observe. But everyone I interacted with genuinely seemed like they wanted us to have a good time. If it was fake, it was very good acting. From the valet to check in, amazing! Javier checked us in. 7 out of 5. Stress free. The pool area, 8 out of 5. Off the charts. Attention management: I stay at a lot of hotels and resorts. And though I'm sometimes overly generous with my ratings, I can honestly say Dru is the best server I've had, ever. She should run the joint! I wish I could give her a raise. Evan was pretty bad ass too and should be commended! Will I be back? . Amazing place. Food is good, but avoid the breakfast buffet at Rockwood. $40 for powdered eggs is no bueno! Other than that, you'll love it here!

The staff was attentive, and everything felt well organized. We had dinner at Aquifer65 & JW Sushi Bar one night, and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed dinner at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse, where the hibachi experience was both entertaining and delicious. The rooms are a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the property, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. The pools, grounds, and amenities make this a great place to spend a long weekend. I'd definitely recommend staying here--just be prepared if you're visiting in the summer. The 104-degree desert heat is no joke, so plan on spending plenty of time in the pool and staying hydrated!

Prior to our…read moretrip, my husband had made several attempts--over the course of months--to upgrade our reservation to a two-bedroom unit. Each call to the 1-800 number involved wait times exceeding 45 minutes, but we were consistently reassured that an upgrade could be accommodated upon arrival. Unfortunately, this was not the case. At check-in, the front desk informed us they could not assist and directed us to contact the 1-800 number again. After doing so, we spoke with a representative who reviewed the notes from our previous calls and confirmed that an upgrade should be possible. We were advised to request a manager upon returning to the desk. However, after waiting in line again and explaining the situation, the manager declined to come out and instead relayed through staff that the last two-bedroom unit had already been taken. As a family of five, a one-bedroom was not suitable, but we decided to move forward and make the best of the situation. Upon arriving at Building 6, we were immediately concerned by the condition of the property. The stairwells had visible cobwebs and scattered trash, giving the impression of poor upkeep. When we entered the unit, it was clear the space was not well designed for comfort. The living area was cramped due to excessive, unnecessary furniture, and both the living room and bedroom felt tight and poorly arranged. The bathroom was adequately sized but only had a single sink. The shower/tub leaked water, and the shower curtain appeared insufficient, which likely contributed to visible water damage. There was also noticeable mold and general uncleanliness in the bathroom. The carpeting throughout the unit appeared heavily soiled. The pool experience was also disappointing. The property advertises multiple pools, including two with water slides. On our second day, we attempted to enjoy these amenities, only to find that one of the main pools connected to a slide was closed, with assurances it would reopen the following day. At the main pool, we found the patio furniture in poor condition--cushions were torn and visibly dirty--and the pool water itself appeared unclean. Additionally, there was ongoing construction nearby, which disrupted the environment and required guests, including my daughter, to repeatedly accommodate workers passing through. We moved to a quieter pool area, which was somewhat better, but the water still appeared less than clean. On the third day, the previously closed pool remained unavailable, adding to our frustration. We eventually found another pool area that was better maintained, with cleaner seating. Food service was also inconvenient, as everything had to be ordered through a mobile system with no traditional waitstaff, which made the experience less enjoyable. Other issues included receiving extra blankets and pillows delivered in trash bags, which felt highly unprofessional. The pull-out sofa bed was in poor condition, with torn bedding and what appeared to be stains on the mattress. Overall, after four days, we were ready to return home. This was one of the most disappointing stays we have experienced. The lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance, and unresponsive customer service made it difficult to enjoy what should have been a relaxing family trip.

The first day we got to the pool around 3 and finding chairs in the shade next to each other was easy. The next day was a different story. Guests will go out to the pool first thing in the morning to lay out their towels and then leave it unattended for hours on end. We also noticed the pool looks great in the early part of the day but by the late afternoon the pool is murky. I get it, that's going to happen when there's that many people using the pool but still. I only recommend this hotel to young families. I couldn't imagine coming here with just my husband. There are kids everywhere. Unfortunately, while I was showering, I noticed that the water was not draining. Because I was so tired, it took me a moment to realize that my feet were standing in several inches of dirty water. When I removed the drain cover, I was horrified to find a large clump of thick black hair measuring approximately 3 inches by 3 inches and about three-quarters of an inch thick blocking the drain. I immediately got out of the shower and thoroughly washed my feet, but by then I felt physically ill. I went to the front desk to explain what had happened. The staff seemed less than sympathetic and offered me two options: move to a room that was not as nice as my current one or wait for housekeeping, although they could not tell me how long that would take. I explained that I simply wanted to take another shower as soon as possible and asked if housekeeping could be expedited. My request appeared to inconvenience them, despite the fact that I remained calm and courteous throughout the conversation. When housekeeping finally arrived, the experience became even more disappointing. The housekeeper came without any cleaning supplies. Instead, she picked up one of the washcloths from my bathroom and used it to wipe away part of the hair. No disinfectant or cleaning products were used. She then looked at me and, in a rude tone, asked, "Is that all you need?" I was completely shocked by both the lack of professionalism and the absence of any attempt to properly sanitize the shower. Fortunately, I had taken several photographs of the hair before housekeeping arrived. I returned to the front desk and showed the pictures to another guest relations employee, whose reaction confirmed that my concerns were justified. She immediately called over the manager on duty. After seeing the photos, he apologized and offered to move me to a pool view room with a larger balcony than my other pool view room, which I appreciated. However, by that point the damage had already been done. I was still nauseated from having unknowingly stood in filthy, backed-up water containing someone else's hair, and I was emotionally drained after what should have been a relaxing start to my trip. After such a long drive, this was the last experience I expected, and it significantly impacted my impression of the hotel. I hope this experience is taken seriously, not only because of the obvious sanitation concerns, but also because guests deserve to be treated with empathy and professionalism when issues like this arise. I sincerely hope steps are taken to improve both housekeeping procedures and customer service so that no future guest has to endure a similar experience.

I had a great stay at this Hampton Inn, the staff was excellent and made me feel welcomed. They…read morewere friendly and asked how my stay was many times and offered help with anything I needed. They also had cookies and fruit in the lobby daily to enjoy. The hotel itself was going through a refresh on the exterior when I was there, but they worked during the day and there was minimal noise, they did a great job with managing the disruption. My mini fridge also decided to start defrosting while I was there, but the staff quickly came and took my fridge and replaced it right away, great service. This location has been going through an update and is mostly updated, for example, the shower was not updated, but the bathroom was. Some details in the room as well, the deck and tv stand was older, but not a big deal, very comfortable and nice. They have a microwave, coffee and mini fridge in the rooms as well. The gym here was very good, although a weird setup, there is the main room with cardio, medicine balls, kettle bells, etc. which at first I thought was all they had, then as you walk in, there is another smaller room that had a record weight machine, dumbbells and a bench, was so happy to see that. Had everything I needed and perfect for working out while traveling. They had a robot named "Chappie" that goes around the property as well, I always like seeing that. They also had a beer tap in the pantry, that was being serviced unfortunately, but you are able to serve tap beer for .45 cents an ounce, Stella no less. First time I had seen this and I hope it is going to be set up in all locations. They have free parking and complimentary breakfast as always, which makes this a great value for a nice comfortable, clean and updated stay. Enjoy!
