We were able to go to the pools late at night and early in the morning and it was nice to have the room right there. We saw a few people who just got the day spa passes asking about the rooms and expressing regret that they hadn't just booked rooms here. Everything was really nice including the staff and service when we ordered food and drinks near the poolside. The skyline is beautiful and to be there on July 4th, we could see the fireworks in various parts of the sky. There is plenty of parking but it is a little odd of a location as it is mainly in a residential neighborhood with a few options for food. But they maintain the property well and it was a beautiful stay at a reasonable rate. We would recommend staying here!

The pool was filled with cloudy bluish green water... I reported this to management on the second day, they followed up with I'm sorry, I would be disappointed as well, and that they will have their pool and maintenance team on it right away... That was just something to say try to make me feel better, never once during our stay did pool maintenance or pool cleaning company come and test the water or try or attempt to clean the pool or Hot Tub. The whole idea was to get away from the busy world and to come out to Palmsprings to soak in the pool and Hot Tub was a complete failure... Although our check-in process with Paulina was pleasant, the management and the ownership completely dropped the ball, and clearly showed that they do not care about the cleanliness of the pool, I am confident that if sanitary testing measures were taken, the pool would be shut down due to the filthy nature of the water and disgusting body scum ring. There are 1 vending machine only had Diet Coke left, and the snacks were stale. I would not recommend the dunes.

Yet the lobby was being painted and was off limits to sit down or even go into other than the check in area. As soon as we walked through the doors to get to our room, we were hit with a heat wave. I assumed hotel meant something different but this seamed like a renovated motel. The elevator was hot and tiny and felt like it might break down. All the doors are facing outside. We got in and it was cooler but not as cold as I wanted. I looked at the box ac on the wall and it had a limit of 72 degrees and no lower. Because it was coming out of the box and one of the beds was so close, my head was freezing but if you walked to the bathroom, it was hot. Central air would have been nice in that hot heat. I will say it was very clean and had good size shampoo, conditioner and soap. The bed was super soft and comfy. The walls were thin. The WiFi worked well, I was able to work from there. The best part is probably the location. It is walking distance to everything. Would I stay there again, No. I definitely would need central air and real hotel amenities. We didn't even look at the pool. It's fine probably if you won't be in the hotel much and just want something close to everything. But if you want a relaxing hotel with a restaurant and everything is indoors, then this is not it.

Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant to work with. When we arrived, we were immediately offered a prickly pear champagne beverage. After I mentioned that I'm allergic to alcohol, the staff instantly offered me a lavender lemonade instead without missing a beat. I'm usually not a fan of lavender-flavored drinks at all, but this one was so surprisingly delicious that when I checked out, I actually asked if they sold it. They don't, unfortunately, but they were kind enough to offer me another glass as a parting gift, which was such a thoughtful touch and perfectly captured the level of care and hospitality throughout our stay. The villas themselves were amazing. Everything was pristine, beautifully maintained, and spotless. The overall vibe of the property was quiet, peaceful, and deeply relaxing, which made it feel like a true escape. I genuinely enjoyed every moment I was there and am already looking forward to booking my next stay. Pocket doors all around, nice. Hot tub in back is killer and having a fire pit next to it makes the backyard lounging even more inviting on a crisp night. Free breakfast is full of solid choices. Not-free food and drinks are good but, holy hell, is it overpriced. I hate that we're at a place where drinks are $20 on average for alcohol that hasn't been getting more expensive. I just drink less so good for me, I suppose? I got a surf & turf for $55 and it was flank steak and about 15% of it was fat. It came with three shrimp. Sad. Excellent service. Love the color scheme of yellow, blues, and greens. My boyfriend and I's room was nice. Love the space. Cozy and comfortable. Yellow is the main character of the resort. From the room doors, outside umbrella, and towels. The pool was perfect. Not too deep 4ft I'm fine with that. The hot tub was 3ft and always group of men hanging out. Every day they have breakfast and lunch for the guests which is part of the deal. The resort is 20 minutes away from downtown Palm Springs which it's perfect. My first time visiting California and Palm Springs. I'm looking forward to coming back here in 2027.

Our rooms were ready when we arrived at noon, and we even received an upgrade due to our Bonvoy status. The front desk manager was so professional and kind! I was blown away when we arrived in our room and they had left the sweetest gifts for our son since it was his first trip. Touches like this are what make the Ritz Carlton brand legendary. Our entire stay was excellent. We enjoyed the pool and had the best service for drinks and lunch. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Edge. As always, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. We only visited for one night, but everyone had the best time and felt relaxed heading back to reality.

I was looking for a quality, reasonably priced hotel for a quick trip to Palm Springs and Yelp sent me the right way on this one for sure! These are just some of the things we loved: -calm atmosphere without being stuffy -bikes to use while you are there -bungalows with all the cooking facilities to make you feel at home -postcards pre-stamped in the room so we could write our friends -super stylish digs -nicely maintained pool area with fire pit -our own private patio with fire pit and BBQ -really, really sweet hosts who made us feel totally at home I just can't say enough good things about out experience. I have stayed at some super expensive 5 star hotels all over the world and nothing compared to this. This is hands down my favorite place I have ever stayed. When I am stressed out and wanting a vacation, being at the Desert Star is what I fantasize about!

General hotel layout was nice, felt vintage and was a refreshing twist. Room layout was interesting, tv was placed in front of the couch so you can't watch tv in bed. When first entering our room: 1. The two ceilings lights either flickered or did not turn on at all. The room was pitch black until we PLUGGED IN the closet lamp. 2. The bathtub was not clean, there were hairs. Bathtub was paint was chipped and the faucet was leaking as well. 3. The kitchen utensils were not clean. Forks, glasses and even the roll of paper towels were found dirty or used. The extra rolls under the sink were unwrapped. When coming to our room a few hours after check in, calling customer service (calling three times) took more than an hour, just for us to be told that the lighting and cleanliness issues will be solved in the morning. Was really looking forward to the experience but upon our first few hours, we felt unwelcome, uncomfortable and turned off of our whole stay. Especially when faced with the lack of cleanliness in the restroom, if our bathtub could be so apparently dirty, what else could they have missed? We were forced to spend the first few hours fixing up our room before starting to feel comfortable. This meant scrubbing the bathtub, washing every dish and checking every surface. With the lengthy and detailed check in process, we were really expecting a quality, travel worthy experience. Instead, it felt we were greeted with an unclean, uncomfortable welcome. As guests, it was made obvious to us that customer service was not at the forefront of our experience. Having decentralized customer service (through phone numbers and apps) made us feel so unattached from the actual experience.

It got started with a reservation made on COSTCO.COM, with a package deal to include a car. We didn't just get a car, we got an AUDI QUATTRO w/ 400 miles on it. CAN YOU BELIEVE??? On the morning we were to drive to PALM SPRINGS, and my partner was on his way to get the car, I called Guest Services. I inquired about our room, and got upgraded to an upper floor, corner suite with a king size bed. It included a couch and a desk, AND TWO TVS!!! We also had a small fridge stocked, but had the food and drinks removed for our stuff!!! THEY OBLIGED!!! On the 2nd Day, I called the front desk, asking about PRIME AND NETFLIX. Immediately, they sent up a technician to show us how to use the TV AND GOOGLE, and how to interact with our phones. In short, WE WERE ABLE TO WATCH OUR FAVORITE MOVIES in the morning and at night. WITH THE COSTCO PACKAGE, we got free valet and free WIFI!!! Every night from 4 PM TO 5 PM, there was a wine and beer night!!! It was often the time when we were returning from touring, to relax, shower, change and get ready for dinner. We actually had time on our FIRST NIGHT to go swimming in the pool on the roof. What a treat!!! Every night, we ate at different place for dinner. On the first two nights, we took advantage of the hotel's shuttle, a big, white Suburban!!! VERY CLASSY!!! We ate dinners at Johnny Costa's, Bar Cecil (NOT TO BE MISSED!!!), and on the last night, Smokin Burgers. We ate out for breakfast one morning, and then we went to KING'S HIGHWAY. It had a 1950's VIBE. We went out every day for activities and touring, EVERY DAY WE RETURNED TO A CLEANED ROOM. We never actually saw them, but the bed was made, trash was removed. ETC. Speaking of ACTIVITIES, we tried on the first day ??( do a SCAVENGER HUNT FROM VIATOR for $49 for 2. TOTAL BUST. DAY 2 was Self Guided Driving Tour of Palm Springs and Palm Springs Aerial Tram. Day 3 was Self Guided Driving Driving Tour of the Windmills and Self Guided Driving Tour of Joshua Tree. We did drop in Aqua Caliente CASINO, and thanks to Vanna White, I made $90.00!!! WHICH WENT TO PAY FOR BAR CECIL.

I have been planning our nonprofit organization's annual conference and board meetings for almost a…read moredecade, so at this point I have booked a LOT of hotels. We are a good-sized group, usually around 30 rooms, and we have some very specific and occasionally weird needs. I also travel constantly and have been lucky to stay in some incredible hotels around the world. So when I say the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs gave us one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, and hands down the best I have ever had as the person responsible for making one of these weekends actually work, I mean it. First of all, the hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are modern, beautiful and spotless, the views are ridiculous and the rooftop feels like you have somehow floated above Palm Springs. You can walk out the front door and basically the entire downtown is at your feet. And then there are those mountains, changing colors throughout the day and turning pink and gold in the evening, reminding you that Palm Springs really has no business being this beautiful. But as much as I loved the hotel, the thing I cannot stop talking about is the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, kind, helpful, funny and gracious. It never felt scripted or transactional. People genuinely seemed happy we were there and wanted us to have a wonderful time. Our board noticed it too. All weekend I heard stories about staff members who had helped someone or gone out of their way to be kind. By the end, everyone was raving about the hotel and essentially informing me that we would be returning next year (which is great, because I want that, too!). Apparently the committee has spoken. And then there is Megan, who worked with me on our group from the beginning. If you have ever planned a hotel event, you know the person on the other end of those emails can either make you feel like everything is going to be fine or slowly remove years from your life. Megan gave me years BACK. She was thoughtful, responsive, flexible and incredibly easy to work with. She understood our group and what I was trying to create, made things easy that are so often unnecessarily complicated and never made us feel like another block of rooms on a spreadsheet. We felt genuinely welcomed and cared for, and as the person ultimately responsible for everyone having a good experience, I cannot explain what a gift that was. Also super important: the food. Apparently the Rowan decided hotel banquet food did not actually have to taste like hotel banquet food. We had lunch on Sunday and I have eaten enough conference meals to know the drill and adjust my expectations accordingly. This was legitimately delicious. People went back for more. Multiple people asked if they could get the recipe for the white bean soup. THE WHITE BEAN SOUP. At a hotel banquet. If you have attended enough conferences, you understand how extraordinary this sentence is. Our executive team also had dinner Friday night at 4 Saints and it was wonderful from beginning to end. The food was beautiful, the staff was attentive and lovely and during dinner the sun began disappearing behind the mountains while we sat high above Palm Springs. Everything turned pink and gold for a few minutes and it felt almost otherworldly. It was one of those moments where the setting, food and people you are with all come together and you realize you are going to remember this particular dinner for a very long time. And I think that is what I loved most about our weekend. Beautiful hotels exist all over the world, but ultimately what stays with you is how a place made you feel. Somehow this team made 30 rooms full of people feel like they were genuinely happy we were there. They made my job easier. They gave our board a beautiful place to work and laugh and reconnect and sit under the desert sky together. When it was time to leave, nobody really wanted to. I travel a lot and plan enough of these events to know how many moving pieces have to come together behind the scenes for an experience to feel effortless. This one did. The Rowan is special, but the people who work there are what make it extraordinary. We came for a board meeting and left already talking about when we could come back. Five stars, obviously. And if someone will please send me that white bean soup recipe, maybe six.

I was a little scared when I read that most of the recent reviews were negative. I was thinking "oh no! What did I get us into." This place is a blast from the past. The decor is that of a mid century modern and is a really cozy quadrangle set up. The interior feels homey and the property is set up like an air bnb with shared amenities. They play 1950s music all day on speakers throughout the complex, it creates that vintage feel but can get repetitive after a few days. Lounge with tables, board games, travel brochures, couches, fire place, coffee and tea, and industrial kitchen for use during your stay. (Old reviews mention happy hour, breakfast, snacks, etc. these are no longer offered but why not just bring your own?) Each room has microwave and mini fridge. Outdoor gas fire pit for use. The pool is small but has a deep end 8ft which is nice. There are pool noodles and some tubes to use. The hot tub is spacious and powerful jets. We stayed in the Hawaiian surf room, loved the theme it was so cute and felt like a tropical getaway. The shower is small but functional. Good AC unit with a remote control and ceiling fan. Surfboard coffee table and wicker love seat add to the tropical feel. Overall this was a nice private getaway. You can be left alone to relax! If you need anything you can text the hotel and someone replies super quick in my experience. The hotel feels very secure with codes needed to enter the complex and security cameras at the entrance and surrounding the complex. (Probably for management to check and make sure everything is running smoothly). I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I have stayed at a few different boutique hotels in the area. This would be a top choice! Please realize this is an older complex and it does show some wear and tear but come on the building is probably 100 years old or somewhere close to that. If you are expecting a sterile, high end, resort feel for your stay this is not your place... but otherwise this is a great choice! I couldn't help but feel bad for the owners with all of the really bad reviews on here because that was truly not my experience. I left off one star because there are definitely areas of improvement that could be made but not enough to ruin my experience.

There are 10 rooms available and each one is a different theme in the 1950s. I stayed for two nights in the Crooners room and I enjoyed my stay a lot. When I arrived, Tim, the inn keeper assisted me with my room keys and showing me around the property. My room was decorated with the Rat Pack and I loved it. All rooms are a maximum of two people with a hot tub, refrigerator with water, microwave, and coffee maker, air conditioning, and DVD player. If you'd like, bring a DVD and popcorn to enjoy during your stay. The bed was pretty comfortable. There were more than enough pillows which I'm guilty of using more than one pillow while I sleep. I love how the comforter was linen on the outside, but cozy and warm on the inside. The Crooners room has two sinks, but I only used one. There is happy hour everyday at 5pm by the pool or communal area with snacks and beer or wine. During my stay there were chips and salsa and the following day was veggies with dip, with of course a drink of choice. Really nice touch added to my stay. It's been a while since I have stayed in a bed and breakfast and I love the homeyness here. Breakfast is served in the communal dining area with hand sanitizer provided. The three-course breakfast starts with a fruit smoothie, a fruit parfait and a hot breakfast. For breakfast they served blueberry pancakes with sausage and the following day it was quiche with artichoke hearts and potatoes. I loved the service here so much. You sit at a table and they serve the food to you. The pool is open 24 hours will pool floaties available to use as well. Another thing I like about this place is that because there aren't many people (max 40 people at a time) it is highly likely you will get the pool to yourself. When I checked out and left the property I told my husband I would enjoy staying here again. I really enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend you stay here too.
