The Historic Concord Exchange - that ivy out front adds so much to the image potential at this venue

I was stressed trying to get the last things done on the day of, and she was amazing and came in and helped me finish setting things up and helped organize people. She was willing to meet with us before, if I had any questions and was very responsive on emails. We found them on the Knot and WeddingWire and we actually just live up the street from the venue so we knew what it would look like inside. It's such a beautiful setting you hardly have to decorate it all. We obviously brought in some of our own touches, though. They have chair covers and other decorations that you can rent. Duke was the chef and did a great job. Food is obviously a little different on the day of with how much they have to make versus the tasting day, but we received positive comments from all of our guests. We actually rented some of the hotel rooms upstairs too, which anyone who stayed there was super excited about. It's nice to just be able to go right upstairs and not have to transfer to a hotel. The rooms are very unique and were fun to stay in. Serving staff and bartenders were on top of everything! I don't think I can say this enough...Karna is AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!!! I hope someone else I know gets married there so I can go back to experience it from the guests side too :-)

The quote we got to start with was what we ended with and Karna added a few amazing extras. She was organized and flexible. I didn't have to worry about a thing on my wedding day because she took care of everything. She knew the venue really well and made great recommendations. I have already recommended this venue to all of my friends. It was a dream wedding thanks to Karna.

The Reading Room is an excellent space for an intimate wedding. There were about 150 guests and the…read moreceremony took place in the front of the room, with elegant tables behind for the plated dinner reception. Waitstaff circulated with hors d'oeuvres as we waited in the receiving line, keeping everyone engaged. I loved the library theme, from the Save The Date library book cards to the tables identified by famous authors. We were seated at Dickens, our dinner preferences printed out on beautiful bookmarks. The three-story ceilings are reached by massive bookshelves with upstairs hallways for reaching those high books. The flowers were gorgeous and organic and the catered food was delicious from salad to dessert. It's not an inexpensive venue, but it is warm and intimate once you get here. We ran into detours, slow trains, and closed roads so we had our Uber let us out about a 1/4 mile away because we were about to be late. We literally made it in as the ceremony started. Road construction, closed roads, detours, and slow freight trains don't show up on your travel map!

Using it as a meeting space wasn't the greatest, since the speakers had power point presentations with lots of writing, and because the seating had to be deep and narrow, it was hard for those in the back. Sound also was splotchy, and the bathrooms are small and at the front, so you have to walk in front of everyone to reach them. As a stop to see something beautiful--it's a must if you're in this city.

DeGidio's is one of those "hidden treasures" on West 7th in St. Paul…read more The parking situation in St. Paul is always interesting but DeGidio's has ample off street parking and a significant amount of street parking too. They do take reservations, and they fill up. However, they reserve most of the tables and booths in their bar area for "walk-in". Today was our third time being here and we have never had to wait to sit. So the Bar...you would think that bar seating would be loud, crowded and uncomfortable with poor service. Nothing could be further from the truth. My wife and I were able to enjoy our meal and comfortable conversation. Now, for the food. They have an appetizer called "Pizza Fries". Having been frequent diners at Mama's, and having pizza fries there, that was what I was expecting, a garlic and butter pizza crust with cheese on it. This is not that. The pizza fries are pizza dough deep fried. Sounds simple, and it is...but they are so addicting. You will not be disappointed. Tonight my wife and I both ordered the special which was Chicken Parmesan in vodka sauce. The sauce was tangy and delicious. The Chicken Parm was done to perfection, the chicken was moist and the breading was well done. Over all, if you want Italian comfort food, this is the place to go.

They had an automated attendant that was a little frustrating to work around as we wanted to ask questions. Getting to a real person took awhile and we were pretty frustrated by the time we got through. We decided to just show up and take our chances and we are so glad we did. The dining room had an hour wait but we were able to sit in the bar area immediately. The bar area consisted of numerous booths and feels less like a bar and more like a distinguished upgrade of an Applebees. The staff was so attentive and everything came out so quickly. We tried the pizza fries - expecting a version of cheese pizza cut in strips. Imagine our surprise and delight when what was delivered was soft, squishy dough with sweet tomatoey pizza sauce arrived. It was amazing! The last bite was barely made when our entrees arrived, piping hot. We tried the pasta pesto with chicken and the chicken parm. Both were perfectly cooked and had such fresh, homemade flavors! Accompanied by the world's softest bread and flavored butter. The portions were huge and we brought more home than what we ate. The server was a highlight. So amazing and attentive. The staff worked together to provide an excellent experience - keeping drinks filled, clearing plates as they emptied, making sure we felt seen. All in all, we will be back. The only negative was that irritating phone attendant. It doesn't represent the kind of service you will receive once you arrive. Don't let it scare you off!
