Was tired of eating down in the marina/tourist district and have been looking more inland and found this place! What a hidden gem! Pleasant courtyard and spacious dining area, courteous staff (bilingual even though we're fluent in Spanish), very reasonable prices, and best of all great food! We had the Chilaquiles with Barbacoa, scrambled huevos and veggies with salsa verde served in a cast iron pan with fresh juice and it was great. Easily enough for 2 people. Looking forward to eating there again on our next trip to Ensenada. read more

Hmm, all of the ratings from others led me to this place, but what a disappointment. Don't believe everything you read. Eggs were powder eggs, the bacon was burnt and too greasy. Nothing we ate was good. I'm not returning. Don't waste your time. read more

We found this brunch gem through yelp. We came for brunch on a Sunday around 12pm and were instantly seated. Seating is all outdoor but covered. Our waiter quickly brought our menus. Our waiter overheard me and my husband and brought me an English menu. This was a big plus for me. Our brunch was amazing. We both order the chilaquiles and fresh squeezed orange juice. We were recommended Casa Marcelo by a local. So, we dropped in for breakfast the day after Christmas. The service was great! Our coffee cups were never empty. The appetizer of fresh bread and fresh cheese with some kind of pesto was phenomenal! We finished it right quick. We all made sure to order something different so we could try a little of everything. We ordered the Machaca, Plato Marcelo, Hotcakes, Chilaquiles Verdes con huevo, Avena, and Pan Frances. Everything was absolutely delicious and great portions. The place was very nice and the ambiance was superb. My only reason for not giving a 5 star is primarily due to the customer service we received from a couple of people there and the lack of not bringing the tortillas for one the plates after asking twice. We did speak to the manager and he apologized for the tortillas and complimented us a free dessert which was nice. We tried to get orange juice or mimosa but they came back saying they ran out of oranges yet we were seated next to boxes of oranges. The overall place was very nice as mentioned and the food was not your traditional looking Mexican dishes however it was delicious. Casa Marcelo was recommended by a friend who comes to Ensenada often. This place has excellent food and ambiance. We came here around 11am and were seated right away in the courtyard. They served warm bread and cheese for starters. We tried French toast, pancakes and the Barbacoa (more like a stew served with warm tortillas). All were freshly prepared and very good. Service was excellent too. Total bill including tip was about US $25. Highly recommend this place. read more

Where to even begin, every time I come to visit my parents here in Ensenada I try to take them to various restaurants. I'm a huge foodie! And Casa Marcelo was the first place I tried. After reading reviews on yelp I decided to give them a try and boy, am I glad I did! Service was excellent, I had 5 different guys come to our table asking if we needed anything, never letting my dads cup of coffee go under half the cup. (He loves his coffee) I ordered the green chilaquiles with barbacoa and my parents ordered a dish with nopales. They start you off with a delicious cheese spread and bread. We were on a weekend trip in the area and were looking for a spot to have some brunch. This was one of the first spots to come up on google with good reviews. We were extremely glad we went with it and tried it out. The food was great and the staff were courteous and helpful. We went on a Friday around noon, which is why I'm assuming we didn't have to wait to be seated. But I can see how this place can get really full on a weekend morning. We were immediately asked about our drinks as we were being seated and our coffee was promptly brought to our table a minute later. The server brought out the QR code for the menu and let us know about the wifi. We were seated on the outside patio, which was absolutely adorable, a lot of trees for shade, different flowers for decor and little birds chirping around definitely added to the cheeriness. We ordered the Cochinita pibil plate to share, I ordered the French toast with a side of egg, and my boyfriend ordered the tortilla soup. The server brought out a complimentary plate of ricotta and basil sauce cheese with warm bread, it was so good we cleared out the entire thing almost immediately. The food was brought out promptly and the presentation was excellent. As far as taste, I feel like the cochinita leaves a lot to be desired and was a little on the bland side but not inedible. The French toast was an explosion of tastes, and I was amazed by how good the caramel sauce and the cream were, and if I had one thing I could change it would be that my bread was drowned in caramel sauce. But judging by others' pictures it looks like that depends on the way the chef is serving plates that day? The soup was tasty, and had a chipotle flavor to it which paired well with the avocado and sour cream. The food definitely makes for Instagram worthy pictures and the taste is worth every calorie you consume. We went inside and saw that they sell the cheese by the block, the server told us that the cheese was brought from their ranch which was 40 minutes away and informed us that if we can visit the ranch where they have cheese tastings and a restaurant there as well. We bought two different kinds of cheeses which were a good price for what we got. After we got the info for the farm we left content and with full bellies. Overall it's a great restaurant worth the price of the food and not too expensive. A good place to visit if you're in the area looking for a bit. read more

Ordered chilaquiles en salsa verde and French toast with apple both were good. Others in my party complained a bit about the food but food overall was ok. Service was really lacking.....food, coffee refills, getting the check, picking up the check, getting the card back all took a long time... during service coffe was refilled for two people at our table and the server moved on to another table for refills leaving one person with no coffee. While serving coffee, he spilled quite a bit on our table and all over my saucer and said "oops" and walked away never coming back or offering to clean it. Getting anyone's attention was definitely a chore so I ended up having to clean his mess. read more

I found at Yelp this place for breakfast in Ensenada. We visited with my family of 6. There was a table for 8 people and they don't let us sit because you have to be table of 7 min. And then waiters were suddenly disappeared so we waited like 10 minutes looking each other. Then I shouted hey Amigo! Suddenly they started to move and finally we got the table. They are very nice people but I don't think they don't know how to act as a team or there is no leadership at operational level. But the food was superb , so tasty and healthy plus fresh. Again they are very kind people but if you want good service they do not know yet. I think a good chef without management skills running this place. Wow, had read the reviews prior to arriving in town and this was the place I chose, good thing, it was fantastic. It is a few blocks away from tourist downtown but don't worry, good area, nice parking out front, across the street, and around the corner. People are right about the food here, very very tasty with good portions, not just the same food anywhere else... Good mix of English and Spanish for the staff, menus available both ways, beautiful outdoor courtyard setting for majority of the seating. Would definately come back again. read more
