They have a $99 first time student intro offer so this was perfect for me. My first class here was the Wednesday 60 min hot yoga candlelight and it was just what I needed at the first time. I'm not a huge sweater but with all the stresses I was dealing with and the amazing teacher I was covered in sweat and felt so relieved after my first class. I immediately enrolled in the Saturday 90 min class. Now that I've been coming for about 3 weeks I have seen improvement in my flexibility and have been managing my stress level tremendously. I have been doing the weekly candlelight and 90 day Saturday classes. I will update once I am able to attend the Monday yin and Saturday Pilates classes but I've been told both classes are great as well. I have attended classes from all 3 teachers and though their styles vary slightly I have felt amazing after classes with each 3. There are locker rooms to leave your personal belongings while in classes and clean showers and restrooms. Which is a huge plus. The owner is amazingly supportive and encouraging as well.

However, they do have a few discount options for memberships and class packs. I enjoyed my All Access Membership because it allowed me to take unlimited classes and to reserve my spot for class up to 2 weeks in advance. I started out with the 1 week trial (no credit card needed) and fell in love with this studio. With my membership I was able to frequent different locations as well and take classes in other studios besides Kapolei. Classes: As someone who used to weight lift and run, I naturally gravitated to Yoga Sculpt and Strength X. Yoga Sculpt is a mix of classic yoga poses with compound-complex patterns using low resistance and high repetition sets. All of the sculpt instructors I have taken are amazing. I like Strength X as well for circuit training: lifting heavier weights with less repetitions. Some weeks I like to do the Core Restore classes which include breath work and holding a stretch position for 3-5 minutes. I have yet to try actual yoga classes here but all in all, I feel like there's a class for everyone. Ambiance: The energy is amazing, especially here at Kapolei. Instructors are extremely friendly and welcoming. You grow to be a part of their family and community the more you come in to take classes. Parking can sometimes be a hassle but it's in a shopping center with lots of stalls but limited ones directly adjacent to CPY. Verdict: If you are looking for some structure with working out and getting moving, I highly recommend CPY! It is worth the price when you break the cost of everything down. Plus, health is wealth!

We did not know that it was in a residential area and there was no parking available when we arrived 15 mins early. Maybe because there was a garage sale that weekend and there was no street parking anywhere else. We ended up parking in front of their house which was not one of the designated offered spot. We barely made it to class. The other small issue was the teaching. She would verbally give the instructions but not perform most of the poses. I haven't done yoga in a while so that was a bit confusing for me. I had to keep looking at the other students for guidance. The pace was a bit unsteady during the middle of the session. It started off good, one breath one movement but in the middle she gave a few instructions that was more like half a breath and one movement. We did have a good workout overall. It seems there's a lot of regulars that knew her way of teaching and they didn't have any problem following her during the class. The students were very welcoming and nice to us newcomers. They also had incredible strength and stamina doing the head stand. My friends and I were quite impressed.

When I was a four, the Little Mermaid was one of the first movies I saw in theaters, and from then…read moreon, I was hooked. I had mermaid bed sheets, mermaid dolls, watched every mermaid show I could, and even wore little diving rings onto my ankles to keep them together like a fin when I swam. To me being a mermaid meant that I could live in the ocean (my favorite place), be friends with sea creatures (loved dolphins too), and could sing to my hearts content (my other favorite thing to do other than swimming). Fast forward 24 years and Ariel is still my favorite princess, I collect more mermaid memorabilia then the average person (books, art, etc.), and I've been guilty of slipping into a mermaid imagination every so often when I'm swimming alone. Needless to say, my fascination (or obsession ;) ) has only grown. When I found out about Kari's "Fin to Fitness" on facebook I was instantly interested. You mean there was a way to live out my mermaid fantasies and get fit at the same time??? Sign me up! I contacted Kari through her email and phone (both on her mermaidkariel.com site) and secured a spot for my best friend and I to try it out on a Saturday. She makes it easy to pay (paypal or cash) and the class is $25 for Ihilani guests or $35 for non guests. Now before you balk at the price (trust me I'm a penny pincher who hates paying $33 monthly for 24 hr), I'll have you know this class is the most fun I've had in a fitness class ever! The class we took started at 11am on a Saturday, so we parked in the parking lot of Ihilani (parking is free with class validation) and made our way up to the 5th floor from the parking garage elevators. There is a private lap pool and deck that is part of the spa where Kari conducts her class. Luckily the class was small (only 3 of us) but the capacity is 10. She introduced us to the concept of mermaid swimming (she is a mermaid performer professionally) and explained which muscles are engaged and it keeps her in shape (her body is rocking!). We began with stretches on yoga mats next the pool and then did some strength exercises using our abs and lower backs (I honestly wish there were more of these). Then she had us stand up and practice the mermaid motion we would be using in the water (harder than you think). We were fitted with mono fins (think snorkel fins fused together) and got to watch her demonstrate in the pool....in her mermaid tail!!!! (maybe I'm the only one who thought this was awesome but her tail looks so shimmery and beautiful and she moved so gracefully!) Once in the water we put on our monofins and she worked with us one on one (sans tail) to make sure we were engaging our abs, butt, back etc. and doing the movement right. Because our class was small, we got a lot of one on one time with her. After she approved our "technique" we were free to start practicing up and down the length of the pool, enjoying the feeling of swimming like a mermaid with our feet fused in the monofin. I was able to move on to the next step which was swimming on my side using the same movement (harder to swim straight). Before I knew it, the hour class was over...but the fun wasn't! She gave us all certificates of completion which included a code for $5 off a mono fin on her website (she sells them!). Then we took pictures with her mermaid tail laid over our legs (one by one) as a souvenir photo that she is going to photoshop and send to us! Overall I had an awesome time and will definitely be back! I think the class (with all the extras) is worth the cost, especially since it's so unique...where else can you learn to swim like a mermaid and burn calories! From the fitness side of it, it really didn't feel like a workout, but let me tell you the next day I had sore muscles....a true testament! If you ever dreamed of swimming gracefully as a mermaid when you were a little girl (and I know there are more of you out there) then this is truly an experience for you!

Please show some respect and provide a proper experience and service ITS BASIC to be clean and have equipment that won't hurt you and isn't damaged. I would gladly pay more for a membership if the gym was clean and had good equipment. 6. Kaneohe and Kapiolani are in contest to be worse than this location.

I was so excited when I signed up for 24 Hour Fitness Kapolei. I had recently moved and decided to…read moreswitch from UFC Gym because it was much closer to my new home and significantly more affordable. If you're trying to decide between UFC Gym and 24 Hour Fitness based solely on price, let me tell you, this is your sign to spend just a little extra and choose UFC. My very first experience at 24 Hour Fitness was absolutely terrible. My friend and I, two easygoing women who were genuinely excited to start working out there, were greeted by one of the rudest front desk employees I've ever encountered named napoleon. From the moment we walked in, he acted as though we had done something wrong. His attitude was cold, dismissive, and openly unfriendly and wore his dark large sunglasses indoors which I thought was strange and unprofessional. We were so uncomfortable by the way we were treated that I seriously considered speaking with a manager. What made it even more disappointing is that many women already feel intimidated walking into a gym. It can take a lot of courage to start a fitness journey, especially when you're new, trying to build confidence, or simply stepping outside your comfort zone. Imagine finally working up the courage to walk through those doors only to be met with unprofessional behavior that makes you feel unwelcome and judged. No one should have that experience. The interaction completely ruined the vibe of our workout. We actually cut our session short because we felt so uncomfortable. We left confused, discouraged, and wondering why we were being treated that way. While I can overlook older equipment, I can't overlook an environment where employees seem unhappy, angry, and uninterested in treating members with basic respect. Environment matters. The atmosphere starts the moment someone walks through the front door. At UFC Gym, I never experienced anything remotely close to this. The staff was always professional, friendly, and welcoming. The equipment is newer, the facility feels cleaner, and the overall atmosphere is much more positive. In my opinion, it's worth paying the extra money for an environment where people are willing and able to offer basic customer service and professionalism. Unfortunately, that first experience completely ruined our membership. We ended up letting our year-long memberships expire and chose not to renew. To make matters worse, when we returned another time, we were greeted by the same employee and received the same treatment, which only reinforced our decision. We barely came back after that initial incident because it left such a bad impression. To management: I strongly encourage you to pay closer attention to how your front desk staff interact with members. First impressions matter. Your front desk employees are often the first and last interaction people have with your business, and they set the tone for the entire experience. Someone who consistently makes members feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or judged may not be the best fit for a customer-facing position. A gym should be a place where people feel encouraged, supported, and motivated, not discouraged before they even start their workout.
