After meeting up with a high school friend (now living in Dallas) at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument and wandering the grounds, we worked up the perfect appetite and headed over to Casa Palomino Mexican Restaurant. What a great find. The food was exactly what you want after a warm Arizona afternoon--fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Classic Mexican comfort food done right. But honestly, what made it stand out was the whole experience: relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and the kind of place where you can sit, catch up, and lose track of time over good conversation. Between the history, the desert views, and a really satisfying meal, it turned into one of those unexpectedly perfect Arizona days. It's one thing to offer breakfast all day, but you need to serve the item that's listed on the menu! I ordered the Machaca Con Huevos Burrito which was listed as having 2 eggs, onions, green chilis and tomatoes. There wasn't enough egg to be considered even one, no onion, maybe 1 tablespoon of chili and absolutely no tomato. Arriving at this location I wasn't acknowledged for 8 minutes since the 2 waitresses were arguing about an incorrect order at the drive-thru that 1 waitress wanted to completely remake. It always amazes me how some people get waited on at this location as soon as they arrive. Besides the food not being what I ordered I asked for a refill for my water 3 times. The bathrooms had a lot to be desired and needed to be cleaned, and the water pressure was barely enough to wash my hands. Maybe the new location in Casa Grande operates better. read more

It was a welcoming place because my waitress was one of the absolute best ever! She was perfect; sweet, attentive, helpful, patient. However, the food wasn't very good. Even the beans and rice were bad. Mediocre at best. I couldn't finish it. It was on par bad Mexican food with Tags up the street. Both places were rotten, but had friendly service. Sorry. It's too bad. If the food had been good you would have gotten all five stars! Absolutely the best caring and pleasant waitress ever. I would go back maybe for a tacos just because of her. Beans and rice middle of the road for flavor, not bad. Food served hot by friendly efficient servers. Ambience good for a small restaurant. Someone celebrating a birthday with singing happy birthday by all while she wore a sombrero, nice touch. Worth a try to see if the flavors match your likes. My wife and I were going through Coolidge and I asked if she wanted to get dinner. She grew up in Coolidge and said let's go to Casa Palomino Mexican restaurant. She said the food there used to be amazing. As we entered I noticed the glass doors and the windows on the front of the restaurant appeared as if they hadn't been cleaned in sometime. As we entered the restaurant to the left of us was a big banner celebrating 30 years in business. That was in 2024 but we're living in 2025, so that's been hanging there for a year. We sat down immediately at the far booth against the wall. When I sat down I put my hands on the top of the table and it was sticky. Our table looked like it hadn't been updated in 31 years. The server came over and introduced himself and brought chips and salsa and menus. The chips tasted either slightly stale or store both. The were thick and not thin and crisp as I'm accustomed too. The salsa did have great taste. Nicely prepared, a little thick and not very hot. Both my wife and I enjoyed the salsa. My wife ordered a taco and a cheese enchilada with a few onions, and I ordered the Carne Asada, medium rare. The food came out fairly quickly. As soon as they set my wife's plate in front of her she began to pick onions off. There was a LOT of onions on her enchilada. When he set my Carne Asada down I went from excitement to hopping it was going to be decent. The Carne Asada I was served was covered in a sauce or oil and it was thick and had a LOT of fat on it. As soon as I took my first bite my wife could tell that I was not pleased with it. I've eaten and cooked Carne Asada at least 100 times in my life. Never have I seen Carne Asada that is 1/4 inch thick or thicker. It's suppose to be thin. A little fat is ok. But I couldn't even eat half of it because ot the sauce and flavor. This restaurant might have had great food a long time ago, but today it was a total disaster!!! We won't be coming back! read more

Spouse and I always enjoy the food. We try something new each time we go and have never been disappointed. I have to say my favorite is the Pollo Palamino, very good and you get a large portion. While prices have crept up a bit, still a good value for the money. Service has always been excellent. Even when they are busy someone always asks how you are doing and is there anything else. I will have to agree with a few previous comments the inside could use an update, but it is functional with lots of room between tables, so you never feel crowded, and I will take that every time. They are located in a strip mall, so parking is normally not a problem, and you have easy on of to the main street going through town. We will be going back, and I do recommend you give them a try. read more

I very much don't like leaving bad reviews but our experience last night was aweful. I live in Casa Grande and was excited to hear we were going to get a new resturant in Old Town. We learned that Casa Palomino Mexican Resturant was going to open a new location here soon. So, my wife and I decided to take a drive to Coolidge and check it out. I personally am an advid supporter of "Hole in the wall" type places as they often are great places to eat. Not this one! We were greated by a very nice young lady, very happy and social, though she did have a fingure injury that was exposed and still handling food. Once seated, the waiter proptly showed up and asked if we wanted drinks prior to ordering, we did and they showed up quickly. So far, so good. At this point, we overheard the couple behind us asking for clean dinnerware because the fork she had still had food on it. The waiter said "yup, sure does" like it wasn't even out of the ordinary. He then went to another couple to get their order and then came to us and asked we were ready to order before getting her a new fork. In the meantime, looking from the table to the kitchen we noticed an upside-down mop bucket and mob right where customers would sit, that seemed odd as the floors where actually very dirty. The kitchen looked nasty, but my back was to it while seated and just noticed when leaving. The overhead lighting was too dark, in my view as well, but that might just be me. For all the Mexican Resturants I've been to, and I've been to many over the years, this ones menu choices were lacking at best. I'm okay with that providing the food is good. Here however, we were quick to find out to the contrary. For me, the rice was dry and bitter, the beans tasted strange as well. The chicken chimichanga looked good, other than it haveing red sauce and I ordered green. After my first bite, it almost made me green. My wife had the chicken enchilada combo. She said it was tough and hard to cut through. Her beans looked as they were just taken out of a microwave. She didn't even try them. The overall taste of the food was literally like nothing we've had before. after my 3rd bite, I looked over at my wife and said "I can't believe I'm saying this, but how would feel if I asked for the check and we just leave?" She was on her 2nd bite and smiled and said "I'm so glad you suggested that". In the meantime, the couple with the dirty utensils, they also asked for thier check without finishing their meal. After paying the $45 check (no tip), we left. When they open the new location, I'm sure they'll get local cooks and waiter staff and be better, at least I hope so. Regardless, unless I hear from friends that it's "GREAT", we'll be going to our regular spots and not come here again. read more

I'm not sure what's happened but the food is bland now. On top of it I got massive food poisoning from here. I have never been this sick in my life all from deciding to eat a chimichanga. Hands down the most amazingly delicious chicken burrito we both have ever had. The jalapeño cheese sauce on top, just completes it. I cannot say enough about it. Saw it on the menu, ordered it immediately. So happy we did. We both could not believe how amazing it is. Didn't even touch the rice, the burrito was so filling and full of delicious shredded chicken (not filler like lettuce or rice). We were driving back from the Ostrich farm on i10, to a detour back and OMG ami glad we did. No lie we saw this restaurant had better reviews than other 2 near it, so we figured we'd stop in. No alcohol license. I was a bit bummed, was hoping for a Margherita, however thissssssss amazing burrito is better than and drink. Seriously so good. Took a while just to place an order and people ordering long after us got their food before we did. To the point that I was ready to walk out. They need to renovate this place- very old, dark, hot and outdated. Stopped by for lunch with a colleague after a site visit in the area. We wanted Mexican food and this fit the bill. It's in a strip mall that's attached to an autozone so the vibes were not great. Once you walk in, you're immediately transported to Mexico. The decor is authentic with tiled floors and candelabras on the walls. The tables and booths seem like they've been around since the 80s but were in good condition. The floor seemed a bit dirty and the lighting was very dim. Very much a divey spot. The walk to the restroom was down a long corridor. There was a sign that said to keep the door shut to keep the AC in the dining room. However, I think it was to keep out the smell of old grease that violently assaults your nostrils as soon as you open the door to the hallway. The toilet had a slow close lid though, so that was a nice touch. The servers greeted us warmly and were very prompt with taking our order making up for the off putting vibes. Food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. I had the quesadilla with shredded beef and green chiles and my colleague had the green chili pork burrito. My quesadilla was a little soggy but I think that had to do with my choice of two fillings. The flavor was on point. My colleague enjoyed his burrito and really liked the beans. All in all glad we stopped by as it hit the spot for Mexican food, but would probably get it to go if we were to come back. read more

First off....the floors are so dirty your feet stick to them. 5 minutes with a mop would make a huge difference We moved to the area in September of 2023. Heard some good things about the food so we stayed and had lunch . The service was horrible. We waited almost 15 before someone noticed us and asked for a drink order. Another long wait to order our lunch, as the wait staff continued to walk by and ignore us. They were very attentive to the locals, regulars. When we finally got our lunch we were quite pleased . Very tasty, hot , authentic flavor. We left saying well, maybe it was just a bad day and they didnt have enough help . We tried again a month later only to get the exact bad service. Once again being ignore while the locals , regulars, got good service. We probably would become regulars too if we were treated better. read more
