We split the hummus trio (4.25/5), and I got the Grilled Chimichurri Chicken (3.5/5). The hummus was a lot better and more than I thought it was going to be; it was enough for five of us to share as an appetizer and for me to also fill the gap left by my main. The side salad that came with the main was fine (3.5/5). The chicken itself was pretty good (4.25/5); the chimichurri added an excellent flavor. However, the vegetables were clearly frozen (2/5). The service was very slow (2/5); we waited quite a while to order and to get our appetizers and mains. Also, our drinks were empty for most of the time. This gem of a restaurant is absolutely fantastic. It's a little difficult to get to if you don't know the directions, but it's in an old-timey building that was once a consignment store. It's cool though because it's rustic while providing outdoor seating both upstairs and downstairs. This place kind of looks like a barn but in a very vintage, very cool way. The space within is open and comfortable; tables are reasonably distanced from each other, there's a stage with a drum set and mic for live music, and country themed string lights wrapped around the stair rails and upstairs banisters. Country music plays in the background and on the TVs above the stage while sports play on other screens across the restaurant. Shelby was very nice. When we initially arrived, she was the only server, so her manager stepped in to take our orders and help. I love this because more managers should be hands on and help their employees. I can't speak for the drink menu while I'm sober, but the food is as roadhouse as you get, but in a great way that isn't generic. You can taste the smoky flavor in the sliders from the sampler and even in the baseball sirloin. The meat is very tender. Even the chicken in the sampler was moist and tender. The cowboy bites were addictive with cheesy goodness and mushroom juice exploding on your tongue. Not a fan of the asparagus, which I felt was bland and overcooked, but asparagus is very difficult to get right, even among experienced cooks. The potatoes had too much garlic, but my husband liked them, so I guess that comes down to subjectivity. He loved the ribs. Excellent service and food for a moderate price. The steaks can get up there in price, so be prepared to dig a little deep, but everything is appropriately priced for what you're receiving. On our way out, a server greeted a pair of customers with genuine excitement: "Oh you're back!" And they told her they returned because of her. I think more people should understand that customers get attached to servers. So good service matters for more than a review or requirement. This place opened recently and has generated a lot of talk. I am not going to comment on the first 2 visits we had, as Dukes was still in the growing stage. Service and food suffered until they really got things together. Now, however, this place has grown well. This is not a fine dining steak house. It is a casual steak and BBQ joint that does what it sets out to do. Nothing here is outstanding, but everything is good. I was here for the Grand Opening, which I was happy to be a part of. I was disappointed a little. I gave it a couple of months and I am happy to report, that there has been great improvements on menu item availability, wait times on being seated and food arriving to the table hot. I was ecstatic to see that Duke's is opening earlier on Saturday and Sundays. There are also drink specials. The other change that really stands out is the menu has expanded in every catering from appetizers to desserts. The service was great!!! Our server Maygee was very attentive and followed up constantly. The live music started while we were finishing our dinner. Great band and it was fun to see some couples out on the dance floor. Have been there on several occasions to eat. Very first time was good but has gone downhill each time. Chicken sandwich was dry and tough! The garlic mashed potatoes are horrible! And gray in color?? A steak ordered in medium should be well done, especially for what is charged! Lied to about seating. I could go on. Next time we will take the time to travel further and go to Flemings! I know I will never received an answer to this review, seems to be what business owners do, they only answer to good reviews. Which I find even more poor customer service. Our server & the promoter of the event were great--friendly, personable, and attentive throughout the night. Unfortunately, the DJ and overall experience were extremely disappointing. Tonight was advertised as a white-attire event featuring R&B and hip-hop from 9 PM-2 AM. We arrived around 9 PM and stayed for over three hours (we gave it a genuine chance as residents of this community) expecting to hear the music that was advertised. Instead, there was very little R&B or hip-hop played, and the music selection was completely different from what we were expecting, including a significant amount of older country/hispanic music from the early 2000s. It felt as though the DJ was out of touch with present day hip-hop/R&B and had chose to defer to an outdated playlist, he did not mix or align the musical selection; it was as-thought he plugged a USB in and walked away. As we were getting ready to leave at approximately 1130pm I asked my group, "Should I suggest a song?" Less than 10 seconds later, the DJ announced over the microphone, "If you don't like the music, YOU CAN LEAVE." His comment alone led to 30%-40% of customers departing INSTANTANEOUSLY... We were incredibly disappointed by the comment and the way the situation was handled by the venue. A hired DJ should never be disrespecting the venue, promoter or paying customers in such a callous way, the DJs actions & vocal outburst disenfranchised many of the customers who had came for "white-attire, hiphop/r&b" We came with the simple expectation of enjoying the type of music that was advertised. Instead, we felt misled and, ultimately, unwelcome. Comments we overheard from staff aligned with how we had felt throughout the night which only added to our negative feelings and made our group feel further ostracized. We had no choice but to leave. Our server was wonderful, the promoter was great & the venue was beautiful but the music, DJ's attitude, and overall handling of the situation made for a very disappointing experience. read more

First time here. Came to watch a friend's band play. There were a group of us, about 10-12. Not sure how the experience was for the group at the end of the table but our end had a good experience. I had the pulled pork sandwich without the bun. It came with a soup and fries. The soup was chicken tortilla, it came out hot, was a tad spicy but a good soup. Fries were wedge fries. Husband had the cheeseburger, he said some parts were well done but still ok. One friend had the pretzel bites, which he said were awful. We met the GM, whom was really sweet. We didn't realize this place was really, really new when we decided to drive from SE Mesa, but to be fair we would have come anyway. Live music? A spacious dance floor? I must know. For science. The venue is really badass looking. When you pull off the main drag and turn a couple of times to get to Duke's, the highly visible sign and first glance reminds you of every awesome roadhouse movie you remember. Inside, the esthetic is exactly what you want in a roadhouse where you're going to get tipsy, and proceed to stomp, spin, and dip the night away. We came a little hungry so we got a table. The service was great. Timely, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He got a reasonably priced pitcher of beer and I got a lovely stiff drink. The food came fast and sadly all we sampled was the loaded fries with brisket. We didn't want to be weighed down and sleepy (GenX female + hubby). We are new-ish & learning, but approach our country swing dancing like other people approach training for a Spartan trifecta but also like George Kittle - go hard but more importantly have fun and don't take yourself seriously. The full order of brisket fries (an appetizer) was served on a long plate - more than enough for two people IMO- and was absolutely on par with the best across the country. I'm well traveled, a good cook and hobby baker so I'm not impressed by mediocre food. At 8:30 on a Saturday night, there was a definite family-with-kids vibe; live band was setting up, dance floor cleared of tables. Once the band started, most of the families with little Jawas got in their sand crawlers and rolled out. By nine we expected a dance crowd. The band was at least as good as you'd expect at The Stillery or Tom Ryan's, and we enjoyed while nomming cheesy brisket fries. Like, manly looking dudes, beards, covering country hits and the good stuff from the 90's thru today. No one danced after the first song or three, so I approached the bouncer (competent, friendly, I probably would not try to push him down or anything ) and chatted. Turns out the esthetic, service, food, sound system, and talent make sense bc the stakeholders here are the same ones running the Stillery. The Stillery can and does pull quality talent (local and, say, Nashville). Much is explained! The band started to play Tom Perry's Last Dance With Mary Jane but maybe more awesome, so we hit the floor with all the moves we accumulated in private dance lessons and 18 free Wednesday couples dance lessons at Denim & Diamonds. We headed out early after a few drinks & dances but only bc we were effectively the only ones dancing. We felt like we had run out most of our moves and there wasn't anything for the 70 or so people there to look at but us or the band. *ALL* this place needs is for Valley country lovers and people who like live music and country dancing, to know about it. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but spending $40 on this was painful. The "loaded" baked potato barely had any sour cream, the bacon was dry, hard, and had absolutely no flavor, so the whole thing tasted bland. The pepperoni pizza arrived literally swimming in grease. The box looked like it needed a sponge, and the crust was so soggy it just fell apart. Then came the pizookie... I thought, "dessert will save this." Nope. It was one tiny cookie that was so hard I could barely break it apart, served with a small scoop of plain vanilla ice cream on the side. Maybe four bites total. Calling it a pizookie felt generous. I've had better food from fast food chains, and that's not something I ever expected to say about a roadhouse. For $40, I expected flavorful food. Not a greasy pizza, a dried out potato, and a cookie that would've made a better hockey puck than dessert. I'm leaving this review because I hope it's taken as constructive feedback. If the owner sees this, I'd genuinely appreciate the chance to have this experience made right. One order entirely missed as two people wanted to split and share the order. Our table advised the kitchen made a mistake. 1 and 3/4 hours later the meal arrived. All of us were finished. Beers served were "Skunky" and returned. Had to wait multiple times for water, salt-pepper, food items and final check. Everyone standing up for over 15 minutes for final check. Food items: Served cold, luke warm, or not at all. Tasteless in many cases. Waiter apologized to our table for working short staffed. Advised Kitchen is the same. Recommend Duke's Road House stop purchasing steaks from Wrigleys' Gum Company (Or so it seems) .......Tough, chewie, laden with excess fat, over-cooked to hockey puck style. Seasoned with tons of road grade salt used by high mountain salt trucks here in Arizona. On the positive sides: Nice atmosphere. Fun to watch the Union Pacific freight trains go fast, make noise and rumble on by. Jury is still out on all us returning to Duke's Road House in Maricopa. read more

The kitchen just couldn't get it right after two send backs so I only ate a side salad. A great spot! We visited early Saturday around 11:30 am. The music and service was great, I could only imagine how fun it would be when live music is here so we'll have to come back to check it out. The service was great! Everyone seemed like they liked working there a lot which they definitely exuded. The food menu was small as they are just opening and testing. Nothing bad but nothing great. I see these place more as a great bar and hangout and a lot of that is because of the staff and building. Hats off to the owner for hiring such great people. If I had to critique one thing it would be the food. I think they have an opportunity being out in the Copa to making it the spot to choose. They are just a menu and execution of the menu away. Duke was definitely a great experience. I requested a medium rare and got a medium rare. When asked for my side request, I asked the waitress to surprise me. And surprise it was. Definitely enjoyable and tasty. But probably one of the biggest plus for the new menu was the service. Top notch and friendly. A top of that, the owner was not only mingling with the patrons, but when he took note of those feeling a hit chilly he was quick to sneak to the side and adjust the thermostat. This business truly cares about their customer base. This place is a major win for growing city of Miracopa. There was a slight lag in the time it took to serve the meals, but it was the grand opening of the venue and super pack, so it's expect that they would be a bit overwhelmed and excusable. Definitely a great place if you're looking for a fun night out with plenty of dancing and eating. We're really excited to have Duke's Roadhouse in town. It is a nice place to hang out, and I appreciate that they regularly host live music. Sitting at the bar has always been a good experience for us, and the bartenders have been friendly and attentive. The food has been good overall. I have really enjoyed the beef stew. I also like the late night menu. The bologna and cheese sandwich and the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were fun and nostalgic. I did not care for the spinach and artichoke dip. It was heavy on the spinach, light on the artichoke, and not something I would order again. On our most recent visit, our original server, an older woman who appeared to be in her late 50s, was rude enough that I asked to switch servers, which is very out of character for me as someone who has worked in the service industry. We were given another server who was very kind and attentive, and we appreciated that. When a manager came over to check on us, a woman with dark brown shoulder length hair who appeared to be in her late 30s or early 40s, she also had an attitude about the situation. That said, this has not been our typical experience there. Because it is close to home and we have had good visits before, we will definitely be back and hope it was just an off night. More of a 3 and a half stars but we're glad they are here. The managers junky attitude should be addressed quickly though. read more

Wife and I came for second try on Monday to get the Prime Rib. Arrived about 5:15pm and sat outside on back enclosed area with the misters. Our waitress was Lisa again and we each ordered a Modelo Beer and lemon water, which she brought right away. When we tried to order the Prime Rib they were out. A whole lot of items on the menu were blacked out, and she explained they were having ordering issues. Well the bride got the Cheeseburger with fries, medium rare. I tried the large order of BBQ Brisket with Mac n cheese and coleslaw. We also got an order to go of the Mac n Cheese with Brisket to take home for our son. My wife said the Cheeseburger was done perfectly and loved it, but once again it came with the grocery store type crinkle cut fries (really Duke's, you gotta get steak fries for the price you charge). My BBQ Brisket was ok, but had a weird taste to it almost as if lighter fluid on it. Had to get more BBQ sauce for it, which made it edible. The Mac n Cheese was great, with huge shells, not little elbow macaroni. The Coleslaw was ok, tasted good, but to dry. Had leftovers again for home and ate it later. Lisa was great like last time and I asked her to check if Duke's had a business phone number. She checked with front desk who told her it was on their website, but it isn't because I checked. I even called Directory Assistance who provided me a number, but when I called it was told it was not in service. For goodness sake get a phone number so people can call to make reservations, etc....not everyone has a computer. I was going to give 4 stars, but when we got home and our son tried the Brisket Mac n Cheese he said it tasted awful, as if not cooked all the way and just plain nasty. He even felt sick to his stomach afterwards. I remembered Lisa mentioned that Duke's had new chefs working that day and maybe they just didn't follow the recipe. So would have given 2 1/2 stars, but rounded up to three. To conclude, get a business phone number, replace your lousy frozen crinkle fries, and don't be out of food within 1 hour of opening by getting your ordering down. I hope Duke's does... read more

Beyond impressed with this place. As a former business owner in Maricopa I know grand openings can get hectic- they handled this with strategy (only allowing reservations except at the bar). They are working out some kinks but the staff is so friendly and helpful- Rei was the best bartender and I will be back to see her and her coworkers. The FOOD - was soooooooooooo good. Went to Duke's a few days ago and had a horrible experience. The pregnant manager was incredibly unprofessional -- rude, careless, and had a disgusting attitude like she was above everyone else. You can tell it's probably her first time having any kind of authority. She seemed like she was under the influence. Completely inappropriate, especially in a family restaurant. On top of that, the food wasn't even good. I got the brisket tacos -- they were super dry and barely had any flavor. My husband ordered the smoked brisket and asked for a full portion, but they only gave him the half. We were both super disappointed. We won't be back. read more
