The perfect getaway we both needed. -Private balcony with beautiful ocean view, satellite TV, kitchen to prepare our meals whenever we wanted to, so quiet we could hear the waves and ocean breeze when napping in the living room. -The bed in the bedroom is a little on the small side (full instead of Queen it seems like?), but it was very comfortable. -shower with hot water that came and went: normal in rural Puerto Rico, so get used to it! It's all part of the adventure ;) besides, it's too hot most of the time anyway -CLEAN, comfortable space for up to 4 people thanks to the 2 futons in the living room: but glad we had it just for the 2 of us ;D -LOCATION LOCATION: it can't get any better than this. SO many restaurants within a short walk or ride! Our favorite though was a bakery in the nearby town of AGUADA, called PANADERIA EILEEN: just follow 413 until you see it. DELICIOUS breakfast, CHEAP sandwiches for lunch, good coffee. The best! Also, Tamboo, just a few meters away from Puntas Tree House, has unbelievable views from the top floor and great cocktails -Reno, the owner, is EXTREMELY responsive: despite being quite the busy guy. Whenever we had issues with the Wi-Fi, where to find the keys/place them, etc., he always got back to us promptly. IN SHORT, our first time in Rincon and 2nd-year anniversary were unforgettable thanks to Reno and the Puntas Tree House. We can't wait to get back: even though we might buy our own piece of heaven in this town! ;D

Not a four-star "Hilton", but better! Very homey, nice & comfortable. And the views over the ocean are picture perfect! I rented the villa for my wedding guests and everyone loved it. There was enough spaces where we could socialize, but also we could each have our privacy. I rented the whole downstairs and the larger upstairs apartment facing the ocean. We actually had our rehearsal dinner upstairs for 30 people and it was very, very nice! We originally wanted to get married on the beach, but there wasn't much beach for 50 people. The tide was in most of the time we were there, so keep that in mind if you are planning a wedding there. There is also a sharp coral reef a few feet from the beach, so make sure to wear water shoes! Two of my guests got splinters from the coral. The staff were friendly and attentive. The owner was very professional to work with. He was very responsive and helpful.

Let's start with "The Hill" - the house is on the top of this "hill" that will literally 'take your breath away'! It's a short walk down the hill to Tamboo, the local "water hole". Just count your $2.50 rum punches because the walk back up the hill is a killer leg workout! "Don't attempt the hill of you are too intoxicated it's interesting to say the least!" "The House:" - The house is safely gated & has a side entrance that is only accessible with a key. There is enough drive way space for 3 cars to park & they also have a spot next to the Villita (smaller apartment) above the garage.. which by the way is the cutest thing ever! The designer of the bathroom in the Villita was a genius. It's so beautiful! Ok back to "The House" The rooms are spacious. King size bed in the Master bedroom & 2 queen size beds in the 2nd room. Plenty of closet space & a dresser to store clothes. (Washer & dryer available also) The living room area has a comfy couch (pull out bed) and comfy seats the "hug you" when you are relaxing watching Direct TV or reading a book. The Master Bathroom has a double sink & the main bathroom is beautiful. Seriously who designed these bathrooms?? Amazing!! The Kitchen: I love to cook & they provide just the right amount of pots, pans, strainers, blenders, plates, utensils & serving dishes to make a homemade meal. The Pool-backyard: Private pool with a beautiful view. You can see the ocean while you are pool side & you can even hear the waves crashing on the beach. There is beautiful wildlife surrounding the Villa El Encanto. This last trip were were visited by an iguana. Tons of little lizards helping the eco system of bugs to stay away! In the morning the birds sing to you. There is an out door bathroom next to the Grill area. (Pool supplies are stored there also) outside shower to wash off the sand before you jump in the pool. The owners have placed their special touch on the outside grill/sink area. (Outside fridge to store those beers too!) You can see the sunset/sunrise on the upstairs balcony area, very romantic- if you are into that kinda thing! The cute town of Rincón was booming. So many new shops have opened up since our last trip 4 years ago. Rincón Beer Company has some pretty fantastic beers. I can't vouch for the cabanas/accomodations but I can definitely vouch for the sushi and it's delicious. All amazingly fresh (we watched the chef purchase a huge tuna fish while we were eating dinner, it became the next night's sashimi highlight). It's very small (picture the deck around a backyard pool, plus a bar...yup, that pretty much sums it up -- oh, plus a little shack that constitutes the kitchen facilities). They have a really pretty lower "level" that includes more seating and the whole atmosphere everywhere there is quiet, laid back and romantic. Tip: The bar is "separate" from the food and you have to go to the bar yourself to grab any alcoholic bevs. They have a nice selection of sake plus your expected "full bar" offerings (don't forget to drink a Medalla!). Both the restaurant and the bar accept credit/debit.

I've stayed in only one of the four cabanas... The totally secluded, romantic and beautiful LoveShack which overlooks the ocean from its panoramic 180 degree lazing porch. Hammocks table and chairs. It's eclectic and clean and close to all of the beaches and shops in the main downtown (if you can even call it that) area. Rincon's whether can be unpredictable which is why it is such a hot surfing destination. That being said if you can't be out on the beach or are not an avid surfer you really need a good place to hang out if this is your beach vaca. I could be at the LoveShack for weeks and read in a hammock overlooking crashing waves and enjoying the salt air breeze. On to the Sushi bar. It is NOT easy to find healthy food to eat in rural Puerto Rico. Sorry. It's like rural America. Fried, buttered, breaded and usually the only greens you will see are the garnish IF you are in a good restaurant. The Sushi bar is Sushi and you just can't go that wrong there in my opinion. They have a TON of choices and lots of them vegetarian. The Mango sushi roll is hard to get because it's seasonal, but it's the house favorite and easily their best dish. Lobster rolls are great, all of the sashimi is great... I think they get most of their fish fresh daily from the local fishermen. The Bar is totally hopping with laid back surfers and wanabees (like me) creating a fun atmosphere at night surrounding a neon lit pool and giant projections of surfers on a screen. It's kind of a tiki vibe on mushrooms which makes total sense in the context of where you are. Pools beach *resort* is an AWESOME home base for anyone looking to have a good time in Rincon. Especially if it is your first time. It's a great jumping off point and all of the staff will tell you where to surf, where to swim, what good places to eat are and where the best swells are that day and will hook you up with lessons or call the horseback riding place for you or whatever... All with that expat, dropout, laid back happy attitude you get when you decide to just kind of check out of the rat race and live your life. I've been here three times from NYC now and will ALWAYS go back.

The hotel itself is incredible - location wise it's beach front with a pool and beautifully laid out. It accommodated my entire family to the max for an extended weekend through our wedding stay, including my uncle who is hard of mobility. He was able to stay in a room beside the pool which he loved ease of access to everything without having to go up any steps from the ground level. The staff is the most accommodating, especially the event planner, Graciela. She truly lives up to her name as she handles herself and her interactions with her clients with such grace, she is a ray of light in human form. Chris is also a wonderful host and you can truly tell he puts his heart and soul into making everyone's experience at Casa Islena a memorable one. And as for the food - phenomenal. The head chef Wesley clearly is passionate about his job and puts a very unique yet tasteful flair in every plate. Prior to having our wedding here, we already would dream about their poke bowls, empanadillas, and churrasco but post-wedding all of our guests were raving about the food being the best food they'd ever experienced at a wedding. There are truly not enough words I can say to express how perfect Casa Islena is in EVERY aspect. Pre- wedding as a guest of the restaurant/ poolside brunches and previous hotel stays I already would have rated it a 10/10. But post- wedding there is no number I can place on any scale to express how incredible it is. You'll just have to go there, and see for yourself. Thank you to all at Casa Islena for not making just my wedding day, but the entire week, the absolute best week of my lifetime. I am forever grateful.

But no server or employee of any kind came to our table for over an hour after we got our drinks. We waited and waited and when we decided to give up and go elsewhere then finally a server came. So we decided to order since it was about 7:15 and we figured it would take too long to go somewhere else and order.
