I've never had dessert here but they have fried ice cream and I love that. But the main course portions are so filling and large I never have room for dessert. Not that that's a bad thing. It isn't. The food and service were good, but "BUYER BEWARE". Me and 3 friends ate there on 7/31, and we paid with 3 separate credit cards so we had 3 separate checks. Since I did not have an alcoholic beverage, my friends said they would leave the tip, and they left the tip for the entire bill. I put a dash through the tip line and totaled my bill. When the credit card statement came, the restaurant had added a tip on my bill even though 20% had been added on the entire bill by my friends. I went to the restaurant and spoke to the manager. He could not find the bill/s, and I did not have the receipt - only the 3 bank statements with the total that was charged to each of us. What was most disparaging was the way the manager tried to justify what had happened. He said that sometimes when there's more than one check and one of the checks doesn't have a tip on it, they may write one in because the servers, busboys, and the rest of the staff have to be paid. I asked him if he knew that was not only unethical but illegal. He said he did, but I needed to understand their position. He did say he would refund me the added tip, but I told him for my inconvenience, he needed to also give me a gift card, and that I would be leaving a bad review and reporting this incident to the Better Business Bureau. He stormed off, without refunding me, and told me to do what I had to do, and they would do what they have to do. My advice to you when dining at this restaurant is to always check your credit card statement to make sure there are no illegal charges. read more

This place is awesome! Super friendly staff, great food, huge portions, and an all around good time. My family loves coming here as our go-to place whenever we're in the mood for yummy Mexican fare. I would highly recommend their Casa Vallarta combo which includes a combination of 3 choices (enchilada, chimichanga, chile relleno, tostada, burrito, taco, or tamale) with whatever choice filling (cheese, chicken, ground beef, shredded beef, or shredded pork). I have frequently been to this establishment with my husband and I. We haven't hit "Regulars" status, but we are definitely fast approaching it. Casa Vallarta can be found in a small shopping plaza in Wappingers. There are other established shops in there that share the parking lot and it can fill up quickly. However, the parking doesn't detract from the great service, drinks, and food. The restaurant itself is decorated with bright and festive colors, its other Central American style establishments. Their selection of drinks is a two page menu spread of their different margarita options. I love flavored margaritas but I stand by the good ol' classic version as well and they make an excellent one! 9 time out of 10 I will order their classic margarita. Upon being seated, the staff will serve chips, salsa, and refried beans. I have had a few dishes of theirs; fajitas, their pork in salsa verde, the carne asada and a few pescado dishes. All are excellent! My all time favorite to order though is their chile rellanos stuffed with cheese and a side of guacamole. Most dishes come with a serving of rice and beans unless specified on the menu or requested by the customer. They are excellent at accommodating dietary restrictions. I ask to sub the rice (grain-free) for an extra side of beans. So if you're looking to try somewhere new that is guaranteed to become a regular in your restaurant rotation, definitely come try Casa Vallarta. read more

I heard really great things about this restaurant and being that we love Mexican food, had to give it a try. We placed an order ahead of time and everything was ready in the quoted amount of time. The restaurant is within a plaza and has parking available. First off, I was very pleased that we received a huge bag of chips and salsa. It bothers we when we order Mexican food and they don't include it with take out but would offer it inside. I actually really look forward to that. The portions were definitely large. My fiancé's chorizo quesadillas were way too greasy though. The chorizo probably should have been drained before making the quesadillas because it was pooling at the bottom of the container where the quesadillas were sitting. The ambiance was nice, not unlike many other Mexican restaurants but it was clean. Large menu with all the classic options. They served us beans with cheese, tomato, cilantro and a medium spiced salsa with chips. I ordered the Tacos de Birria, the tacos were very tasty but were falling apart so I needed a fork. The rice was fluffy and the guacamole tasted fresh. The consumé was very salty, but very flavorful. The beans had a strange taste though so I did not enjoy/eat them. My mom ordered the White Chimichanga which was smothered in a cheese sauce. The chimi got really soggy for the cheese and my mom, who loves cheesiness, felt it was too much cheese. Took over. All in all it was a solid experience. The portions were hefty, it was just as you'd imagine. There are some other great Mexican food options in the area, but this is worth a try. We didn't realize this place was a chain when someone recommended to us and it's located in a mini mall next to a Strip Club and my favorite Barber Shoo. We walked in to a half way full place but was able to pick a table. They delivered chips with salsa and watery retried beans which held us over until the huge margaritas came. We ordered Ceviche which came in a huge bowl and was a meal in itself or enough soup for two. My Carne Asada seemed all show with more watery beans and lots of rice and was very salty.
