They have an outside patio which is nice during the warm weather. They have drink pitchers for about $44 and I believe $5 for a flavor, both frozen and normal. They usually slap and have a good amount of liquor in it, it serves at least 8-10 full cups easily which is a good investment. I ordered the shrimp in the white sauce. The shrimp and steak were seasoned perfectly and cooked great. That creamy, white sauce was delicious! Mixed in with the rice and beans, it was an amazing dish. The only downside is, they are stingy on the rice. Even with ordering an extra rice, we still barely had enough. We did get enough meat, which was great. But, the lack of rice has us scared to even order any dishes including rice. The chips and sauce tasted great. We did get a round of shots on the house of some amazingly delicious liqueur. The service can be slow at times, but it's decent. I'd definitely go again, especially for an appetizer and pitcher of drinks. read more

Was recommended by a local to come here for authentic Mexican food. Came here to celebrate a family proposal and certainly glad we did! We had a very large party (14 guests) and Chapala was willing to accommodate with last minute notice. Staff was very friendly and food came out quick. The guava margarita was super delicious - highly recommend! I ordered the chicken tacos which were very good. To top off the night, our host offered us a complimentary shot of tequila! So, I always say you can tell if the Mexican spot is going to be good by the chips and salsa. Well, the salsa was pretty weak. I ordered a Bloody Mary for starters.... It had the right amount of alcohol but it lacked flavor. I had to add salt and Tapatio to spice it up. The food took a while to come out, roughly 45 mins or more. I ordered a chimichanga with steak and it came with just that inside. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't that. I wasn't disappointed, just thrown off a bit. The last few times I ate out of a Mexican restaurant, it was terrible and I told myself "never again". Convinced by my husband I decided to give it one more chance because he loves mexican food. When we walked in, the place looked very festive and the staff was extremely welcoming. Ofcourse my usual starter was a drink "Don Juilo margarita" that was made nicely, I thought I just wanted one drink but 2 more was ordered before the end of my meal. That's how good it was made( strong and tasty) Everything was so delicious, the chapala wings(appetizer) was very crispy and very flavorful. My main meal that I ordered was the chapala fajita which came with shrimp, steak and chicken mixed with onions and peppers on a hot skillet was AMAZING!!!! I literally cleaned the plate. The guacamole was terrific wanted to dip everything in it especially together w/ the beans that were surprisingly good. Desert was ok! Once again the Don juilo margaritas was a 10, loved it. Picked up a grub hub order once before and I was interested in trying it for lunch since it smells great here and I like vibe and decor in here. It was slow here, so the manager got me a table and took my order. incredible friendly and respectful, I felt valued for having my lunch here. I ordered the Camarones a la mexcicana and sopa de pollo. Camarones a la mexcicana shrimp was bit overcooked, but very flavorful bathed in the sauce, The sauce itself was bursting with flavor and I wished I had to spoon to lap it up, damn unless fork and knife, hah. Onions and green bell peppers were fork tender and melted in the sauce. Mexican rice was best I ever had, it was nice to have firm rice and not some steamed bags feel soft, pushing the rice in the sauce was so good. Refried beans were okay, I felt like there was very few beans in the sauce/stew, but I have to say melted queso cheese on top was a nice touch to blend beans. Soup had a plenty of rice and shredded chicken, very generous and the broth was well seasoned, I will always want that soup over basic chicken noodle any day, Haha. chips and salsa were alright, I do think it had a lot of raw white onion and could had more tomatoes instead. read more

Now this is a good Mexican place. My girlfriend does not like Mexican food but this is the one place she'll eat from! All of the food is outstanding, especially the Texas burrito! The rice and beans on the side you get is very good especially when you put some salsa on it. You definitely want to dine in when you can though to get a true Mexican experience. The ambiance in this place is really nice though it wasn't crowded at all during my visit it had a feel of a nice restaurant with lighting that could set the mood for a romantic evening. The manager sat us at our table and was super helpful with the menu selection and suggestions. We got our complimentary nachos with sauce which was a nice treat and our entrées were actually pretty darn good. Food wasn't over seasoned or under seasoned, it was perfect though I would have liked a little more spanish spice in my meal. Overall our experience was a very positive experience with customer service being top notch followed by a really good meal. Meal didn't blow me away however it was very good. I've only dined at Chapala once before, and had ordered their chicken flautas. The chicken was very bland, but everything else was fine. I ordered their birria tacos recently, and requested them without cheese, because I can't really eat dairy anymore. Thankfully they granted my request, but the meat didn't have a lot of flavor this time either and the tacos were pretty pricy ($14), for being average. I ate here last week as my wife had a craving for Mexican food. I cannot say that the food was bad, but nothing about it says I was eating at a restaurant as the quality was the same as if you had a long day at work and just threw something together without much care for seasoning and presentation. In addition, the prices were WAY too high for the quality and portions. For starters, they put chips and salsa on the table. I honestly thought the salsa was soup because it was in a soup bowl and had the same watery consistency as soup. The flavor was not bad, but you had to dig deep into the bowl to get any of the veggies. The tortilla chips were very plain and could have very well been out of a bag. As an appetizer, we ordered the shrimp cocktail in which the menu says is served with their special or signature cocktail sauce. Well, for $11, we got 5 shrimp that were not that big and the sauce was clearly out of a bottle. For the main course, my wife got the shrimp and crab rolled in tortillas. Not bad as I tasted it, but not worth $18 especially when it was served with dry rice, dried up lettuce and beans that were just a pile of mush. I ordered the charbroiled pork chops for $15. I was expecting thick pork chops as I get from Texas Roadhouse for less than that. What I got, along with the same rice, beans and lettuce set up my wife had were 2 thin and tiny pork chops (the size you can get a pack of 6 for $3 in Shoprite) that were not seasoned at all! I put some of the soup (salsa) on top of it to give it some flavor. The restaurant has some potential, but better care and preparation needs to be put into their food as well as to start using quality products. read more

I am a big chili relleno fan so I order them whenever I can. You have a choice of chicken, cheese or beef and nice enough, they allowed me to have one chicken and one cheese. I was a bit disappointed in the actual pepper, it seems like it was not fresh and soggy so I was not thrilled. The flavor of the spices were nice and the beans and rice were good too, because I never usually eat them. I have had better ones elsewhere but, the chips were fresh and homemade, the salsa was very nice as well, so I will try something else if I go there again. read more

Actually rating 4.9...I'm rounding up! My first time to this establishment, again another good resturant right under my nose where I've been living for almost 10 years. To parents of infants: HORRAY they had a baby changing station. Something that would earn them 1 star less if they didn't. Parent or not no sit down resturant that might attract a family with children should be without a baby changing counter. It's not expensive...so kudos to Chipalla Grill. The staff was pleasant and professional. Our waitress was great because she knew when to come to the table, when we actually needed something. I'M THERE TO EAT WITH MY WIFE AND FAMILY NOT TO BE INTERVIEWED 25 TIMES BY 19 YEAR OLD WHO ASKS IF EVERYTHING IS OKAY OVER AND OVER. Get lost!!! :-) Anyway now that I have that out of the way..... it's just one of my pet peeves. The inside is somewhat typical of a Mexican resturant...tile floor, colorfull, and somewhat loud once everyone illed the place up on this particular Friday night. We had the Pollo Chipalla and the Krab (yes K) and Shrimp enchiladas. Everything was nice and hot. Refried beans were actually light if that's possible. Not chunky slop as you may be used to. The ceviche was perfect, could have eaten lots of that. The salsa and chips were also fresh tasting and not greasy. The only thing that was slightly lacking was the guacamole. Don't get me wrong, it was okay but fairly bland. ..yet was still fresh tasting...but nothing some salt and a touch of hot sause couldn't step up. Well done...we'll be back soon. read more
